I am here for work but never get sent to Chicago for work which is where I arrived at age 10 from Russia. So I always try the Chicago named foods. The difference at Ray Rays is that it’s like being in Chicago. I stopped at a local dispensary got back ordered a Chicago dog, Italian beef with sausage, fries, baked beans and pie lol. I crushed the dog and I’ve tried everything else. It’s amazing and you guys rock!

This was my 1st time back since the New Ownership. Glad they actually put in tables and seating to dine in. I seen some usual faces and some that I had never seen before. Food still has a High Grilled Flavor and the Sauce was on Point. I am Pleased although they $charge a Fee for using your $CARD

I've honestly never been disappointed when I eat here.

My grandson and I totally LOVE Ray Rays! We've been coming here for about a year and it's our favorite place to go to eat together. The food is simply outstanding! I love the rib tips. The meat is tender, nicely smoked, little waste and the mixed sauce is flavorful with a bite of heat. The hand cut fries are delicious and were a revelation to my 10yo grandson who had never experienced them before Ray Rays! He exclaimed "Mimi, they're so much better than Mc Donald's!" The food is always fresh, hot and very tasty. Portions are large. The Italian beef is a substantial behemoth of a sandwich and very good. My grandson likes the smoked chicken. All of the sides are very good, as are the various desserts offered. They also have a good assortment of cold canned soft drinks. The chef-owner is a really awesome family man who cares about his customers and keeping the Ray Rays tradition alive. I've talked with many patrons and most tell me it's the best and drive long distances for it. I know I will keep coming back, again and again!

As soon as you walk in it 90's, Chicago and MJ nostalgia and I'm all for it! Staff was polite and the food was beyond words. You have to visit this place and order the Pulled Pork Mac.....it is AMAZING! Definitely recommended and definitely making that 2 hour drive back soon.

Wow! This is Kalamazoo's biggest hidden fail to date. After a conversation with the staff about what was good, I decided on the Italian beef and sausage combo sandwich with a side of mac n cheese and fries. Ordered to go. Get my food back to my destination and found they have me ribs. Oh-well. I like ribs. Not these though. Straight trash. 1/3 was fat and the meat was tough and chewy. If you like warm jerky with BBQ sauce, then you just found your place! Oh, one more thing. If someone orders mac n cheese to go, maybe throw some utensils in the bag? I don't know how the locals eat this. It must be their submissions that got this "restaurant" rated so high. This experience is the perfect example of why you should not tip before you get your food.

The Maxwell polish sausage is the best I've had outside of Chicago!

Their Maxwell Polish Sausage, has the same taste like the OG in Chicago. This is place is also one of our go to place. We usually come here once a week 😊

4/24/24 update - lotsa recent chatter about authentic Chicago food made me return to this eastside legend and I was not disappointed as the food was served fast and everything was fabulous! Ray Ray's is like stepping into a Chicago neighborhood place with sports souvenirs and great interaction with the staff. Virtually all food is made from scratch highlighted by Italian beef, sausage, hot dogs, burgers, chili, french fries, BBQ - etc. It's all good! Can get busy at lunchtime so be prepared...

I really liked the meatball sandwich and rip tips were ok but I wasn’t a big fan for their chili cheese fries, mac & cheese and coleslaw. My husband wasn’t a big fan of his Italian sausage and beef sandwich unfortunately. Banana pudding was ok as well. Everyone was nice and friendly. 😌🙏🏻 I’d absolutely comeback to try more!

Love this place....love the original classic italian beef dbl dipped, with fries and a cold classic coke...drove over 2k miles to eat this italian beef....I believe it beats portillos....and I love portillos....

First time having a chicago dog, and first time eating here. I noticed they have popular chicago dogs, and i have been wanting to try one reguardless of my disfavor for most of the ingredients. However this is the best hotdog i have had in a long time. The employees are very nice, the vibe is very cozy, and i will definitely be back again to try the many other things on their menu.

Staff was super kind the moment I walked in. Even the cooks were having a good time. I love that so much. The food was incredible. Absolutely worth going out of your way for even! Ate it so quick didn’t have time to take a photo. It’s ok tho it won’t be my last time coming here.

Decided to try Ray Ray's for the first time today and I am so happy I did. This is the perfect way to end a day! Definitely recommend getting your Italian beef "wet".

A good seasoned Italian beef is the best I've had in Michigan

I lived in the Chicago area for many years and was super stoked to try this place out. I got the Chicago dog and cheese fries. They totally hit the spot. I can’t wait to try the Italian beef and I really regret not getting the dessert special when I was there. The place is pretty small so not ideal for large parties and call ahead take out is a good idea. Every employee I encountered was friendly and the service was pretty quick. There were four orders ahead of me when I walked in and I didn’t have to wait too long for mine. I’ll definitely be enjoying more meals from here.

A touch of magic in the vibes and the food goes a LONG LONG way. This is one really amazing place where they hustle to make handmade feelgood food, where they treat you like family... no matter who you are. Not only does the owner serve everything with a friendly smile and a warm greeting, but it seems it's a family affair here. He introduced us to his daughter, who was also taking orders with her son. The apple didn't fall far from the tree because it was like everyone there was happy to see you there. Look, what you came here for is how's the food? The food is amazing. Full stop. ... But, I'll get to that. In the 30 minutes we were inside, my wife and I saw so many walks of life come in and go out with smiles on their faces. Great food and friendly service is the great equalizer, and this place has both in spades It seems this place, just an unassuming whole-in-the-wall restaurant, is filled with welcomeness To top that all off, you can tell someone took care to make your food delicious. So even if they never told you verbally, the care that went into the food says, "We're glad you're here, and would love for you to come back." "Superb in every way" Italian Beef sandwiches that are bar none the best I've had outside of Chicago.

The Chicago Dog was delicious, along with the Cole Slaw. I would recommend Ray Ray's to anybody looking for some great food.

Good food, but it was cold and lacked spice! Also I didn't understand the menu all that well. There were no pictures to help me with their specific terminology.

The staff is so nice and welcoming. The food is soooo good. I found Ray Rays on accident and I am so grateful I did! Some of the best food I have had in Kalamazoo hands down and I eat out all over all the time! A hidden gem, I can't recommend enough! I will be a regular!

This place is epic. I make sure to tell everybody about it. I don't live in Kalamazoo anymore, but would move there just to eat here more often.

If you’re looking for white tablecloth and ambient music, this is not the place. But if you want the best Chicago dog you’ve ever had and in a true Chicago atmosphere this is the place.

Went there for dinner last Saturday, got it to go. The atmosphere was phenomenal! It was great to talk sports with the employees while waiting for our food and the memorabilia was so neat to see. The food was amazing! She had the meatball sandwich. I had the Sweetness. Both were delicious. The servings were plentiful. Will define going back again soon. Highly recommend.

This is the 2nd time I've gotten the barbecue chicken dinner. You get 1/2 of a really big chicken, and it's so tender and flavorful! The sides are very tasty, but I think they need to work on them, because they all tend to be very runny, with way too much liquid (potato salad, coleslaw, Mac & cheese, etc) in them. The flavor is still good, but you end up with a puddle of liquid! But I'll still be back, for either the chicken or the delicious rib tips! And the people working there are very nice and friendly!

Every time I come to Kalamazoo i have to stop at Ray-Rays everything is fresh the fries are cut on sight and fresh beef that’s not frozen I’m on a mission to try everything on the menu at least once

I tried their maxwell polish dog and rib tips. Both were delicious and the polish dog had a bit of a kick to it. The rib ends were pull apart tender and the smoke flavor comes through in a good way. The bbq sauce on the rib ends had a bit of a sweetness and tang to it. The restaurant is small inside, but we'll worth the visit.

The staff is very nice and patient. Today was my first time and definitely won't be the last. The coleslaw was 🔥 and the rib tips with mild BBQ sauce hit the spot!! Thank you for the amazing food!!

Restaurant has good nostalgic vibe and nice staffs. I tried Italian beef/sausage combo w/ onion & pepper. And It was one of the most decent hot dogs I have tried in recent couple of years. Try beef/sausage combo with beef juice on the side. Definetely gonna visit here again.

I had a rib tip dinner and it was delicioso! The mild baked beans were a little spicy, but good, not giving a low review, but I can't eat anything even a little spicy. But a great place to eat.

Ray Ray's Italian Beef & Sausage is the closest version of an authentic Chicago beef and sausage combo you can get in Kalamazoo. The sandwich was tasty. It definitely could have used some more beef on the sandwich. The fries are fresh cut fries were a bonus. My overall experience was good.

Visiting an event at the expo center and glad to find Ray Ray's. Excellent Italian sausage, Italian beef and rib tips with a nice surprise of well prepared grilled zucchini. Highly recommend.

Ordered delivery and My sandwich has so much sauce, the bottom bun is soggy to the point of it being liquid. Fries were soggy and burned...not sure how they managed that. Yes I did order within last 30 minutes but if this is the quality your going to send out, just close down earlier. Disgusted to be honest. Not a thing done right on this one.

Ray Ray's has the best Italian beef anywhere around here. It reminds me of Portillo's in Chicago, if you know what that is. They make their own giardinara, which I only kinda like. The owner is a huge Bears fan and names the sandwiches after Bear players. My wife loves the "Sweetness" which is an Italian sausage sandwich with red sauce and peppers and onions. It's also excellent. Update: had one of the best Italian beef sandwiches I've ever had today at Ray Rays.

I've been visiting Ray Ray's for years. Best Chicago style wet dip sandwich in town. BBQ chicken is also super tasty! Great food, service is always friendly.

Can’t believe I ordered this garbage! Ribs are gross, baked beans gross, and taste like vinegar, and needs to be in a closed container, and the fries…burnt tasting and cheese on the end of the fries, and they were gross as well. And I did not receive the soda I payed for. Never again! They must be famous for Italian beef’s only! Highly disappointed

If you're looking for the most authentic Chicago dog/food stop in Kalamazoo this is it!! I had my wife look at the menu in the car before ordering because they used to heckle you if you didn't know what you wanted, lol! However, I believe ownership has changed since last time I was there, so there was no heckling. The food is still really good and the new owners are running it well. They have Chicago sports memorabilia and Bulls replays playing, which how can you lose! Great spot with lots of regulars!!

I just door dashed this place for the first time today. As a truck driver it's hard to find quality food, but by the gods, that was fantastic! These folks know how to do Italian beef

Nothing says Chicago better than Ray Ray's, yes it's small and a decent amount of wait time, but I'm telling you it's absolutely worth hitting this place up

You know when you see one of those guys in a parking lot with the big oil barrel grill, and you can smell the BBQ from 3 blocks away, and you know this is going to be the best thing you've tasted this week? It's like that, but now he's inside. The guy that took the order was smiling and helpful. He offered us a taste of the brisket, which he pulled straight out of the smoker. My wife got that and it was amazing! Next time I would skip the BBQ sauce because the meat was perfect without it. I got the Italian beef,, WET of course! And that is a religious experience. Flavorful and tender, just perfect. My wife had her doubts as we pulled up, but she's a believer now!

Really good food and incredibly kind folks working there. They even struck up a conversation with my kid and gave him a free sample of the lemon pound cake. I had the Italian Beef sandwich with peppers and onions. It was as big as my head and really good! My son had the kid's hot dog which was "perfect" in his words. Awesome find which we'll be back to next time we're in Kalamazoo!

This is a place to go for the food and not generally to stay to eat. The guys cooking are all very nice and there are a few chairs and tables inside but no service. Which is fine, all you need is their amazing food and napkins. This is real deal Chicago food from dogs to Italian beef. Add in juicy, sauce rich bbq chicken and ribs and you can't go wrong. Big portions. Don't come here looking for fancy; come hungry. Parking lot can be tricky but you'll manage. They have a kid menu but I wouldn't try to stay and eat with a kid unless you are prepared.

The best rib tips I've ever had!

YUCK!! Tried the rib tips with baked beans, I got in hot spice level with fries. I thought it was a little overpriced until I got it, but it wasn't worth all the food on the plate since I ended up throwing it straight to the trash after eating 5 pieces. The rib tips were dry and hard despite how much sauce was covered on them. The sauce was overwhelming, even the beans tasted so sugary!! It was really too sweet and not what I was looking for in a BBQ plate, wanted the meat to be tender too. I got a mac and cheese cup too. I liked that it came piping hot, but it was coated with burnt bacon bits. I don't like bacon and it was so burnt and black that I didn't even know it was bacon at first. At first, I thought the cheese had turned bad. The garlic bread was the best part of that plate and it was so small compared to the rest, plus I only got 1 when it was stated on the menu that I'd get 2. I usually wouldn't be picky about that if it wasn't the only thing I liked. Really gross food, really disappointed.
