Excellent food! Pulled pork is amazing. The onion loaf is different but delicious. Our server was attentive and courteous. Was traveling from northern harford county to Alexandria and stopped for lunch. Was quick affordable and tasty!

Do not go to this place. I just left. I ordered the CHICKEN CRISP SALAD. Waited 20 min, and when salad finally came , I instantly knew something was wrong. Menu states tomatoes and hard-boiled eggs, which were NOT on salad. After 5 min, the waitress comes back. I told her this was not prepared to what was listed on the menu, and I would like another one made with correct ingredients. Chicken was cold by then. Waitress is shocked. I asked for a new salad. 🙄 Five minutes later, a person comes to my table, whom I assume is the cook. He asks me what I want on salad. NEWS FLASH...read the darn menu for items that you SHOULD HAVE PUT ON SALAD IN the FIRST PLACE! I'm like, is the place Bizarro World 🌎. At that point, all signs were telling me not to eat at this place. I got up and requested to pay for my soda. Another waiter said, "Don't worry about it, and I left. I can't trust this place. I am never going back!

The catfish was under cooked and the coleslaw just tasted like mayonnaise and crunch. I've been eating here for over 20 years, don't know what they changed but it's not for the better!

To brand itself as Memphis BBQ was a bit misleading. The food isn't bad. It's just not Memphis! I had a pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw and french fries. The BBQ sauces were not to my liking. I would visit again for the drinks. If I ordered food, I would get plain meat without sauce and then add the sauce from home. The fried shrimp was delicious, add a lemon squirt, and it's good to go. Their sauces seem to be missing something, from the BBQ to the cocktail sauce. Something was off. The atmosphere is not the average for millennials, but I'm pretty sure Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation may feel right at home. The service is decent. Don't be quick to write them off. You have to know this place may not be branded for you. If you like Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, and other blues artists, this may be the place for you.

Locals favorite for BBQ. This establishment has been serving the community for well over 20 years. Food is uniquely amazing. Service has always been outstanding and the atmosphere is a Blues heaven. A must if you are around the area!

They keep the store clean enough, the staff here is usually friendly, and the food is normally consistent. We did take out for my inlaws anniversary, and the order had everything that it was supposed to have with the exception of utensils, and tatar sauce. Catfish was good, brisket was a disappointment (tough as shoe leather), and the potato salad still tastes just as good as ever. Things of note, the Mac and cheese needs pepper and cayenne, and old fries used to be better. All in all, a solid choice for a family meal. Tell who ever is on the line they should pay attention to the cut of meat heading out. That brisket really was better labeled as roast beef.

Ordered some foot to be delivered. Got the Sweet Potatoes which was literally just a microwaved sweet potato wrapped in foil. The side Mac and cheese which was in a small container. The pulled pork barely had any bbq sauce on it and didnt cone with any. And yes thats the side mac and cheese next to a sauce container so you understand how small it was. The only reason they got two stars is that the Ribs were on point snd so was the sausage. Overall I'm not happy with the meal as a whole and at those prices, I deserved better

It was great BBQ. I wasn't a huge fan of the dry rub seasoning I got on my ribs, but I fixed that with the BBQ sauce and they were delicious. I also had some chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce and they were fantastic!

For flavorful Southern cuisine, I love Red Hot & Blue. However side orders of coleslaw, beans, and apples should be bigger than a quarter cup. IJS

My experience: The food was okay, I will not recommend Burnt Ends( it's 99% fat). Overall the place doesn't look like a clean place ( smell, and old, really old tablecloths) . I gave stars only because there was a very nice guy ( server ) Brian. They definitely need some improvement for sure. First, maybe start by changing the tablecloths…. I will not recommend this place, there are a lot of other meat places .

So, I ordered food for delivery. The food was fast and packaged nicely. But, this is not like the old Red Hot and Blue. I wound up throwing out most of the food. There was zero taste in the sides. ZERO. They provided no sauce so my pulled pork sandwich was dry and the biggest disappointment was the burnt ends. It was my first time getting the burnt ends and was reluctant at $18. But got them. I was not sure what to expect. They may have been "ends" or diced up meat. What I do know is they were not burnt. Far from it. It just looked like they diced up maybe some fatty parts and dropped them into some sauce. Seemingly completely undermining the reason people may order burnt ends. Very disappointed. Many years ago Red Hot Blue was a go to barbecue place. Now the food is blah. The only tasty thing I got was the Caesar salad.

We went out before Father's Day on Saturday to Red Hot and Blue in Laurel. Good parking behind the building where the restaurant is located. Just to let you know if you go to the right from the parking lot, there is a flight of stairs with multiple landings. Going left out of the parking lot is easier if you have issues climbing stairs. The restaurant was pretty busy even at 6:30 pm. We were seated quickly though. Our waitress took our order: delta catfish plate with fried okra (you have to ask)and Grandma's potato salad and green beans and sweet potato for the wife. The food came out shortly. My wife sent the sweet potato back since it was burned. It should have not been sent to the table. A replacement was delivered and was ok. Her green beans were bland without flavor. My orkra was very good, crispy and crunchy! Grandma's potato salad was also very bland. And there were no hush puppies on either plate! Error or by design? Still the catfish arrived hot with its golden coating withcrispness and crunchyness. Tartar sauce on the side. We decided to take one of our fillets home with half of our sides. Our waitress had read our minds and had take home boxes, side dish containers ready to go. Recommended!

Came pass here one Friday and decided to make a trip of it on Saturday. I was not disappointed. Though I was told it wasn’t great. I beg to differ. Not only was the food great the service was unmatched. The drinks strong! Oh did I mention how strong the drinks were! One was truly enough at least for me! The catfish was pretty amazing. I don’t know how they did it but my husband loved the catfish. That in itself was an achievement. Ribs were good macaroni surprisingly good. Didn’t expect so honestly. Greens tasted canned but still good. I also got to try the smoked turkey. Will definitely make another day of this with the family!

Follow your nose before you follow the signs to 'Red Hot and Blue'. Everything from the heavenly bbq kitchen small to the decor service food and guest experience is top notch. A must visit place to dine in Laurel, MD.

I ordered the gumbo with a side of collards. The gumbo was ok, and the collards were tasteless. I frequent the RH&B in Annapolis and love the food. I eat their collards often and love them. I also love their red beans and rice and fried okra, not on the menu in Laurel. The restaurant was pleasant and clean. All the staff was great and the service was top notch.

Its been many years since I had the pleasure of dining at Red Hot and Blue in Laurel M.D. The Memphis style ribs were cooked to perfection - fall off the bone tender. I have to say, the bbq sauces are not as tasty as I remember them to be. It seems the sauces have a heavy vinger base. However, once I mixed in a the really sweet sauce everyrhing was back to normal as far as taste. The hush puppies were very tasty. And the sweet tea topped it all off. Thank you, Red Hot and Blue for taking me back down memory lane.

I had the brisket. It was very good. Nice ambience. Had the grilled chicken salad. It was smaller than it used to be, but it was still good.

Onion rings were not eatable, a soggy, oily glob. Fritters were the size of large marbles, hard, heavy breaded, over cooked. The ribs were ok, but a little dry. ☹️ Banana pudding was great!

Being from the South I guess my expectations of BBQ is higher. All of the food was bland, no seasoning, and I had to douse my food in "bbq sauce" for it to even have any kind of flavor or taste

Not exactly, sure, how this place is still in business. The food lacked any and all flavor possible. The chicken couldn't have been more dry, and the pulled chicken sandwhich had the smallest amount of tasteless sauce. The barbecue sauce tasted like colored water. It tastes as if there were zero seasoning used during the cooking process. The potato salad potatoes were extremely undercooked. A complete and utter waste of money. This is certainly not bbq food, nor would I be willing to say it edible.

Unbelievably bad. Got the pulled chicken. it was somehow watery and had no seasoning. The bbq sauce on it tasted bitter. After the first bite, I lost my appetite. You need a new chef ASAP.

Ordered a significant portion of items including a desert. The desert item was a piece, barely no fruit or any desert in a container. I asked if it was a dining in portion and was told yes and if I wanted more I would have to pay another $7. It was a whatever attitude in the response and a sense of "oh well" take it or leave it body language. It would have been nice I was even asked, if I wanted something else in place of it but, of course it was never asked nor considered. First and last time trying this food spot. I'm scared to even look at the rest of the food.

It's like a quiet small town restaurant. You'd never know you were in a chain. Alex was an amazing server. We never asked for anything. Napkins, drink refills etc all just magically appeared. Food was served quickly and large portions.

I will start off by staying the staff was really nice & seem like it would be a good experience if u dine in. But the food itself wasn’t that good compared to other red hot and blue I been to before. I got brisket, chicken , Mac cheese, fries and hush puppies . Everything was a miss taste wise beside the hush puppies. Even thou it’s local I rather go to 45 mins to Virginia if I want to eat there again

Im a new resident of the DMV and was in search of some good BBQ - my husband and I went to Red Hot & Blue Laurel a few weeks ago and was greeted by the friendliest waiter/hostess/BBQ sauce aficionado Wess!!! From the moment we walked into the door Wess greeted us with a warm smile, educated us on the signature BBQ sauces. He even went so far as to combined 2 signature flavors - customizing my own sauce. Not only is the customer service top notch but the BBQ is so DAMN good!!! Pickles fried to perfection and them hushpuppies - sweet baby Jesus it was so good. I can't end this review without mentioning how delicious the whisky sours - so good I had 3. If you're ever in the area stop by for a drink or two and dont forget to ask for Wess

I've been going to this location for close to 15 years with my partner. His family has been going for even longer. We ordered takeout and I was a little nervous with all of the recent reviews. However, upon opening everything and eating - it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it seemed. I can tell that things have gone down hill a little bit because the food was slightly different than in years past and the restaurant was completely dead. I hope this place continues to push out great food and don't forget a sweet tea!

This was my first time here and we were stopping in before driving home to Brooklyn. Chris was super friendly and gave great recommendations! As a former DM and trainer, it is so refreshing to just have a great experience with someone so personable. We had the burnt ends, and the Tennessee Triple and everything was cooked perfectly. The fried Okra was soooo delicious and we finished everything off with the blackberry cobbler... the rest of the staff was just as friendly. I come down to the area quite often now, so this will not be my last visit!

IF IT WAS POSSIBLE TO GIVE -0 STARS I WOULD. I ordered the pulled port and Brisket and the sides were potato salad, mac n cheese, hush puppies and collard greens. Everything except the hush puppies was horrible. The pulled port was hard with a sprinkle of BBQ sauce which had no taste. The brisket was hard and i was struggling to chew it. The potato salad had no taste, the mac and cheese looked like it came out a frozen can. This was by far my worst experience with food

This place used to be a destination. Atmosphere, blues, outstanding bbq. Now, it's like ownership changed and everything is profit driven. Food has noticeably gone downhill while the prices have gone up. Are you guys using liquid smoke now? Carryout orders are regularly incorrect. I wish I could still recommend Red Hot and Blue to friends/family, but what this establishment has become is a far cry from what it was. Everytine we go back, I'm hoping for change...hoping the bad occasions are just a one time thing, but at this point, I'd rather just save some time and be happy with a meal over @ Mission Be better

This used to be one of my favorite places. Came a few months ago and the food was terrible. We got the pulled pork sandwich and a burger. I’m not sure which one was worse. I used to love the pulled pork sandwich. The potato salad certainly isn’t what it used to be.. Decided to give them another try this evening. We were seated right away and the sat there waiting and waiting. No one ever came over to take our order or even to say hey sorry for the wait OR someone will be right with you. We finally got up and left. Did this place change owners or something???

Absolutely the worst BBQ meal I've ever had. It's been a few years , but I was celebrating and BBQ is my favorite. Family of 3 adults 2 children. All starving Brisket was Grey, fatty and tasteless. RIBS seemed burnt on the outside , and below average, but far from the worst on my plate. Pulled pork and Turkey were horrendously bad. Zero taste. The sausage was actually good. What happened to this place? I recall tasty and ample meat sampler. Service , for godsakes smile , and please stop acting like your in a rush. Even if you are is off-putting. So yes we ate it , kids and adults were hungry, but I voiced my opinion to the server and she said she would tell management. I wonder if she did. We were there long enough after the check that you would think a manager would have come out. So that's $100 out the window. Just so disappointing. I did leave the server 20% , only because I've worked for tips and it's not like she was mean , just not good. Will never be back.

I'm giving it one star for the ribs and baked beans. The brisket was trash. Whoever said the brisket is good, thinks Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food. The sides are tiny. Mac n cheese looks like white soup with noodles. Hush puppies fried too hard. They are supposed to be soft and hot. Completely missed here. Would not recommend this spot to anyone. Trash.

Neither the pork or turkey had a meat ring, so no hint of it actually being BBQ. The pork was overcooked and mushy, and had the flavor and texture of something that was braised and not smoked. The turkey had the texture of deli meat and not actually turkey, no smoke ring and no smoke flavor. The beans had 0 flavor to them and were over cooked. The "hot" BBQ sauce was mild at best and like everything else had very little flavor. Even the soda tasted off, as if the syrup was near empty. If you like bbq, avoid this place. Even wawas brisket sandwich is better then anything I got from this restaurant.

Ordered takeout a couple weeks ago, arrived to pick up the food on time. My family has never been so disappointed with BBQ in our lives. I’m no BBQ expert, I’ve smoked 5 or 6 briskets in a Green Egg, and Red Hot & Blue has the worst brisket I’ve ever had. So disappointing. I’m not joking, I couldn’t even bite the brisket and pull it from my mouth… I was shocked. Brisket should never be rubbery. The mac and cheese sides were very small, flavorless, and ice cold… so we weren’t upset that it was small portions. Turkey was bland and chewy. Ribs were sub-par, but at least the meat was chewable. How are they cooking these meats??? We ended up tossing most of the food and then grabbing something quick to eat since we were still hungry. I don’t enjoy writing poor reviews, but I hope someone thinking about ordering from here reads this and changes their mind. They should either fix this or change their menu. Considering the amount of time this place has been around, I doubt anything will change… but this place should NOT claim to serve BBQ.

Ordered delivery and called the restaurant to make sure bbq sauces would come on the side. The guy I talked to said that sauce always comes on the side for take out orders but he would make sure plenty came with ours so we could sample. We did not get one single side of bbq sauce. Disappointed to say the least.

Wanted to try something new. Everything I ordered was very bland. The greens and meats lacked flavor and the potato salad was saturated with I believe Mayo. The meats had huge chunks of fat . I tried to add things at home to make it taste better. Sadly, that didn’t help either. We ordered through a delivery service/ it was around closing time. May give it one more try.

Everything is so different here now, it's so hit or miss. I used to love coming here but it's not the same & I don't think it ever will be the same again.

The service and staff were very pleasant, and the place was nice. However, I have to be honest, the food was unimpressive. I asked my date how their food was, and they said it needed more seasoning and flavor, but okay overall. I had the same feeling. The desserts were also disappointing - the banana pudding was very mushy that I couldn't taste any wafers or bananas in the actual dessert, just the heavy pudding. However, we both liked the fries, and nachos were really good. Again, the staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately, the food wasn't satisfying to me.

We've eaten at other Red Hot and Blue restaurants for years. Unfortunately our meal here was not up to par. The baked beans were good, as were the onion loafs (ordered extra crispy). The onion loaf sauce had jalapeños in it, so I asked for some ranch dressing and made my own. The potato salad was tasty, but about half mayonnaise. The pulled pork sandwiches were doused in sauce to cover up the poor quality of the meat, which had globs of fat in it. It took forever, but the server was attentive.

Caramelized Brisket burnt ends always amazing. The Pita Chips with the Brisket Chili Soup also delicious .

Ordered a catfish dinner, it’s not even catfish…it’s mofo tilapia. Sides are not sides, it’s a spoonful. Go to mid Atlantic instead.

If I could give NEGATIVE 100 stars for this place I would. If you like bland dry food then this is the place for you. Let’s start with the greens. Taste like they were just boiled in water with NO seasoning. Mac and cheese taste like it’s straight out of the box. The brisket. TERRIBLE!! Dry and rubbery. Red hot and blue in Laurel says they cater…..well they must cater for the Jessup Jail because this is jail food. Please, just put some seasoning in your food!! Salt, pepper, something. It’s so bad my dog didn’t want it 🤮

Only giving two starts because the bartender that helped with carryout order was super polite and friendly. I grew up with a red hot and blue next to my house and loved going there. I was so excited to find out Laurel had one too after moving here! I’m not sure what the difference in location is but the food at this one is AWFUL. Super bland, the Brunswick stew tasted like water, beef and vegetables. I tried putting extra seasoning at home but it was still gross. Chicken crispers were 4 tiny, slimy pieces of chicken. Macaroni was disgusting. I’d drive an hour just to the other location to get better food.

I had never heard of Red Hot and Blue before, so I didn't have any preconceived opinions about it. I found the layout of the dining room and bar areas to be cozy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and cheerful. I ordered the catfish meal and the two sides I chose were the Mac & cheese and the hush puppies. The catfish was really really good. They buy it fresh and hand bread it themselves. So none of the pathetic low quality methods like buying pre-breaded frozen fish fillets. Glad they do it right here. The only gripe I have is that parking is extremely difficult and inconvenient, because they don't have a parking lot. So their customers just have to drive round and round and round the streets, hoping to God that eventually a parking spot will open up. But then when one finally does, chances are it'll be a long, long walk to get to the restaurant. Not at all good for those who have trouble walking, but who aren't quite bad enough to have a handicapped parking qualification.

This is some of the worst food I have ever had! My family and I were literally laughing hysterically over how bad it was. We had the burnt ends and it was just burnt fat. The greens NO TASTE, I won’t even mention the mac and cheese, I will say the chili was very good and so were the fried pickles but everything else was like really really bad. Sorry!

My husband and I stopped pass here for lunch while out running errands. We are both barbque fans. He got wings for his appetizer which he said were good. For his entree he got the 3 meat special. Smoked sausage, brisket and ribs. It came with 2 sides so he chose Mac n cheese and baked beans. He tried the brisket and immediately reached for some sauce. He said it had no season to it and even though we smelled a grill the meat tasted like it was out the oven. I got the seafood platter which came with a small piece of Catfish, 5 fried shrimp and 3 hush puppies. The fish and shrimp were ok and the hush puppies were over cooked. I got the same sides as my husband and we both agreed the beans were horrible. We are definitely fans of the chain itself but that particular location was not good.

I ordered from this place today, and from the review and pictures I saw I thought it would be amazing. Boy was I wrong when I opened it the ribs and the brisket didn't look anything like the picture, and the French fries were soggy but those things I didn't mind the worst was the Mac n cheese the moment I bit into it I immediately threw it up it tasted like gasoline or some sort of poison I was extremely upset when I order this from uber eats. And let's not forget they got my order wrong as well am very disappointed

It's been a couple years since I've been here, but what a treat! We started off with some burnt ends (of brisket), followed by their totally unique and delicious dry-rubbed St Louis style ribs and jumbo chicken wings with the Red Thai Chili Sauce. So much flavor packed into one meal! Everything was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent though we had been on the road for hours and stopped for a VERY early dinner around 4:00. (DAMN, I'm getting old! 🤣🤣). This was well worth the little detour from our travels.

Disappointing. Tried this place for the first time on my husband's birthday. He loves good barbecue but this missed the mark in so many ways. Dry, flavorless. We tried multiple items on the menu. My husband was so unhappy he called the restaurant. He was told a manager would call him back but no one ever did. Will have to stick with Mission BBQ in the future.

A great regional delight with genuine banana pudding lined with Nilla wafers exactly as my great grandmother made me as a child. Meats are well cooked. I won't engage in sauce debates. Suffice up say, it's good.

I finally found one in Laurel, Maryland!!! My first time having them was in New Jersey, Pulled porked is moist and juicy along with the ribs. They have sauces for EVERYBODY'S taste buds!!!

I don't know how this place is still in business. Everything was dry, bland and tasted old. I threw all of my food in the trash, where it belong. After wasting money on this garbage, I turned RED, started feeling HOT and now I'm BLUE! Never Again!

The food was excellent, and I had the catfish. Parking along Main Street could be tough, with plenty of parking in the back lot.

The food was expensive and not very good. The collards weren't seasoned, the whole place smelled musty and we killed at least 4 flies at our table.

Take out order was ready 30 minutes beyond predicted time. No apology or acknowledgment was offered. I suspect my order wasn't even addressed until I arrived for pickup.

Walked in on a Saturday evening. Wasn’t event greeted with a hello. The bartender yelled “To Go order” I said no I need to order then the guy told me to come to the other side to order I asked if I could sit at the bar and it was way too much confusion. She said she was confused and I said how, I only asked to sit at the bar. Nonetheless I walked out. This was my first time there and I won’t strongly consider returning.

The the atmosphere! The waitress was great! The appetizers were out super fast and then the wait for food. The mac and cheese was cold, the chili was bland and a hodgepodge of everything that tasted and looked like a soup that was cooked too long!

Excellent service, nice environment, people very courteous. Easy access by having a parking lot in the back. Recommended
