The staff was so sweet! I walked in to the restaurant somewhat close to closing to do a carry out order and they were so sweet! My order was ready within minutes and they put in a free coke! I would definitely come back!

We've had the pleasure of being Rollapalooza customers for years (10? is that possible?). In addition to the very high quality product and service, they're incredibly lovely people and neighbors. We look forward every week not only to the delicious food, but just interacting with the nice people there. We're so lucky to have this restaurant within walking distance from our home.

Have tried almost all sushi restaurants in the neighborhood, and this is my go-to place. Always fresh and delicious sushi! Everyone here is so nice and friendly too. 🍣 This restaurant is the most delicious restaurant in town! Try it~ Chirashi is a true work of art~! Chef, thank you!

Affordable sushi, good atmosphere. The last time we got takeout, they even included a free roll on the house!

Weirdest, rudest service. Rolls were good enough, but almost everything has either crab, shrimp, or lobster (very common allergens) and when asked to substitute ANYTHING but shrimp in the inside of a roll they said it would be a minimum of a $5-$6 upcharge (based on sashimi prices) and started recommending the most expensive alternatives possible. We were just confused because we do this all time at other sushi places with never any mention of any charge. They also moved us twice after seating us and then were asked twice more to move again - every time by a different random waiter that was not our own. On top of this, two waitresses made weird rude comments - one about how hungry we must've been. At the end of all of this, we really weren't amazed by the sushi, but everything did seem fresh and well enough made. I don't know how much of this was just a one off, but there are too many places we've had better sushi and service in Lakeview to bother coming back.

Some of the great sushi in town! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is a amazing sushi restaurant.

This was such a surprise! New to sushi and had several great sushi places on Halsted and Broadway, but this has to be the best I’ve had so far. Nice atmosphere. Fast service. Out of this world sushi! Definitely going back again!

This has some of the best fish I have ever eaten in Chicago. Not to mention, the customer service is a 12/10. I think this place is severely underrated.

This is our go to sushi spot! Rolla has an amazing variety of rolls. The food is fresh and flavorful. The staff is the BEST, so friendly and welcoming! BYOB is an extra bonus! If you're craving sushi, you MUST check out Rollapalooza!

We ordered take out and everything was so good! They called us to ask if we wanted the Black Monster because the black rice was out and it would take a little to make, which was fine. They made the rice and gave us extra miso soup and edamame for the inconvenience, even though we didn’t mind! Very awesome and friendly staff. Will def get again!

Always the most amazing service and sushi!! Been here a million times and never had a bad experience. They have black rice available. The portions are generous and definitely the best sushi in Chicago.

The quality of the fish is poor at best. Same for the rice, poor. The size of each nigiri was very small. We spent $200 for 3 people just for the sushi. Service was ok until we were told to leave after being there for 1 1/2 hours! I would never return to this place as there are several much better sushi restaurants nearby.

Great meal as always. This is our go to neighborhood sushi spot. The sushi is fresh, the service friendly, and we are big fans of BYOB. I'm afraid to give it a good review because I worry others are going to catch on and make it difficult to get a table in this small place in a crowded neighborhood.

Very friendly and attentive service. Food outstanding and reasonably priced. Decor could use a refresh but a note on the door said they are closing for a reno, I think it was a week or so.

They tried to serve us sushi that sat on the counter for over 30 minutes. We waited for 45 minutes to get our food. It is hot and humid inside the restaurant and very loud.

Rollapalooza is a hidden gem! The staff are super sweet and attentive! I love the Rollapalooza roll and I highly recommend it! You cannot go wrong with any of their specialty rolls. I always like to go with a group of people because you can each order different rolls to try out! It’s BYOB too which is a nice touch! Also order the spicy garlic edamame too!

Sushi is mediocre for the price point. Service is ok. Ambience is underwhelming especially when you’re crammed next to other tables. Expected better all around from what I read/heard about. I love sushi but this place is alright.

Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but we got a table right away. The service was phenomenal as was the food. My partner and I split 3 rolls between us which was perfect portions. We like to try different places, but this is one we will likely come back to next time we're in town.

Rollapalooza is our go to sushi spot! The service is welcoming and friendly. The food is always SO good with a wide selection of rolls. It's BYOB and just a fantastic spot all around! Definitely make a reservation. Highly recommend!

Ordered takeout since my normal place is closed on Tuesday’s. Rolls were very fresh and flavorful. Had the Acapulco (favorite) and the dragon roll. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

This place is so good. The specialty rolls are so interesting and unique, but they also have the basics. Very fast services, and really good bang for buck.

On google maps they seem to be open, they are closed. Do not recommend, it is very difficult to reach due to street lockdowns. Only to see the restaurant us closed.

A BYOB gem. The albacore was outstanding, the rolls were creative and delicious! Brought some sake with us and that made the outing affordable. The waitress was perfectly attentive but didn’t hover. Cannot recommend Rollapalooza more and will be back for sure.

Overall good food, but the decorations could use an update and the music that was playing was annoying and shrill.

We were visiting Chicago from out of town and stumbled upon this great Japanese restaurant in BoysTown. All of the rolls we tried were delicious and well-presented. What’s special about this place is that every roll that you order has a distinct taste and flavour. We have found that for many such restaurants, the general taste of the rolls is similar across the menu. We dined here 3 times in 6 days and already miss the place. The staff and service are great. It can get a little noisy at times, but the ambiance is always good. Looking forward to eating there again on my next trip.

When we arrived, the hostess advised us that restaurant was full with reservations, seated us then asked us to finish our meal in an hour. I explained that I made a reservation for 6p, though I arrived at approximately 5:45p. She then explained that reservations only hold tables for 90 minutes, which I was aware of. I just didn't appreciate her approach then trying to rush us out before checking for reservation. The experience did get better after, the hostess did apologize. I will return. They play a variety of music and though the restaurant is small, the place is clean with excellent fast service....

I always come to this place for my sushi fix! I have tried so many rolls and they have all been delicious! I recommend the rollapalooza roll, and the sticky tataki that is in flames also tastes amazing! You really cannot go wrong with any of their rolls! Really kind staff as well who always greet me with a warm welcome. This is my go-to sushi place.

Great food been there several times. Please call before leaving . I reserved my appointment on Open Table for 3 and I did not call . Restaurant was Closed!

Set a reservation and it was overbooked. This place is usually good just not this time.

Great service, OK decor and food. I appreciate they have a good amount of vegetarian maki beyond the basics and some of their options look very cool: my friend got a roll that came in a flaming plate. Parking was a little difficult on some parts of Halsted, but after circling for 30 min we ultimately found a spot on Halsted not too far from the restaurant.

The best sushi in Chicago. I highly recommend the Mafia, Spicy Tataki and Lemon Salmon.
