First time eating here food was excellent! I had the Russ Does special with cheese!! Staff were friendly and food came out fast! The prices also are unbeatable! My food including drink was under $10! Nice to see fair prices in times like these!

I lovey sloppy Russ doe special.. it's an acquired taste... Mmmmmmm... Pita pocket with hamburger meat seasoned delicious with lettuce tomato onions mayo.. mmmmmmmmm be careful they leak all over your arm... But man they good...

I grew up eating at Russ Doe's. Food has always been so great. Anytime I'm on that side of town I go there.

They have the best Philly cheesesteak. You can also grab potatoe, or macaroni salad from the fridge. Not even 13 dollars with a drink. Better get there before 1:30. They close early every day. Outside seating only

Cheese burger was cold. They didn't have meatball sandwich even though it shows in the pictures that they do. Staff was friendly though.

Russ-Doe's Sandwich Shop is always super fast, served with a smiling face and a "good morning" shared by all, you can tell the employees enjoy working there and that says a lot about a business. Not to mention the quality is always on point and at a really reasonable price- even with the costs with inflation, it doesn't appear Russ-Does have increased their prices. I've had most of the menu, but by far my favorite is the club sandwich its awesome! Fresh carved turkey and ham 😋 yummy! I'll definitely be a customer for many more years to come. Thank you everyone at Russ-Doe's!!!

Food was good till i got half way into my pita sandwich and found 3 LONG DARK HAIRS in my lettuce, I WANTED TO THROW UP I WAS SO DISGUSTED, all these people handling food need to wear hair net or tie it up. Nothing worse than start enjoying the food and pull hair connected in the lettuce! JUST DISGUSTING!!!!

A co-worker told me about this place after I saw her eating a yummy-looking sandwich in a pita. (Rider) I went today and was a bit nervous since they close at 1:30 and it was 1:20 when I arrived. The place was still bustling with people and workers. I ordered the Russ-Doe's Special Rider. So good! Pita stuffed with well-seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato and mayo. The pita was soft and fresh, and the meat was fresh and well seasoned. If I have to have a draw-back, it was that the sandwich was lukewarm and I figured it would be hot. No worries; this is not enough for me to not come back. Prices are excellent and the service was great!

I've probably eaten more meals from here than any other restaurant in my life... I never get tired of it. Where else can you get a $7 cheese steak? Russ Doe Special and chicken gumbo 👌

The food is really good and service I will admit is great. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are unbeatable. The only thing is that they only accept cash definitely worth going just make sure you have cash. They have an ATM but you will be charged high fees.

What year is it that a business can actually be open and only accept cash? Sorry I refuse to pay an additional 3.75 surcharge to use your atm

I miss these type of places. Used to stop at places like this on the way to work. Always got my food quickly, and it was always good. Russ, was an honor to visit before the show that day.

A jacksonville institution. Maybe the best sandwiches in town, certainly the best dessert bars. Choose from your southern favorites, egg salad, chicken salad, corned beef hash, hot dog, ham salad and even PBJ. Know the rules, come in step to the left and get in line. Take the time in line to figure out what you want on the menu because when you get to the counter you need to order. Once you order, step to the right and moments later - viola- you will walk away with a mighty fine sandwich. Tip: Choose one of the dessert bars on the counter. I am not ever sure what it is, but it sure is good. I don't go her often because it is a little bit of a drive, but it is so worth it when I do.

I absolutely love this place. It’s cozy and homey. I’m going to miss working with the ladies. Just about all the desserts and some other things are all homemade. They just make you feel like part of the family.

Really good food on the cheap. Had brunch, the breakfast sandwich and my co-work had the breakfast box, Both were really good. The service was attentive and enjoyable.

Simple fare, but cheap, friendly, and SUPER fast. Usually I'm in and out in under 10 min and have paid less than $6. Wide variety of sandwiches from BLTs to quesadillas or just a simple grilled cheese. They only accept CASH! But there is an ATM inside.

Everything downtown is expensive but not this place. It has a lot of choices for breakfast and lunch. You can get a camel rider for $4.25! Anywhere else it's $7 try it out.

Russ Does has been a family favorite for over 20 years. It was a great place to stop for breakfast before school and now my grandson and I come. Favorite is an egg salad sandwich and mine is a tuna salad on toasted pita lettuce, tomato and banana peppers. Their prices are very fair here and they also have very fast service. The ice tea is fresh and it’s a very friendly and old-school kind of place. If I don’t get take out I enjoy sitting at the picnic tables in the shade.

This place is one of the best sandwich shops in Jacksonville. Well I'll go ahead and say it. It is the best in Jacksonville. The food is always hot and fresh. They make you feel like family when you walk in the door. There service is second to none. Very fair pricing. I go everyday except Saturday and Sunday. If you are in the downtown Jacksonville area for breakfast or lunch I highly recommend stopping in. The best sweet tea in the south. And that's saying something.

I’m an amazon driver and found this place in my travels. Despite there being a lot of people in line, I was in and out in just a few minutes which was great. The food was delicious and well seasoned. The staff was very pleasant which made the experience even that much better ❤️

They have a pretty tasty vegetarian sandwich, and the pasta salad is just like the kind you remember from picnics of yesteryear. The staff work fast and placing your order is half the reason to visit this old fashioned sandwich shoppe. They only take cash, so be prepared! But you probably have enough for a meal or two, just in the change drawer of your car.
