My wife and daughter came here 2 years ago and had a great experience. This time, not so much. We got there and put our name on the list to wait; it was busy, so fine. Waited about 45 minutes then checked to see if there would be much longer of a wait to find out they crossed our name off. They didn't seem too concerned about it and said that 'well, you will be next'. I was trying to be calm and overlook it since it's our vacation with our daughter and hopefully the food was going to be great like previously reported by my wife. Food was OK and portions were small. Definitely Not worth what we paid.

An underwhelming visit. Referred by a different local business just a few doors away, we went in for breakfast. Missed the breakfast window, but caught the brunch/lunch menu. The service was painfully slow and the cooks nearly matched that pace. While served in cute little cups, the coffee lacked strength or flavor. After one eternity of waiting, the food was delivered. The price to quality doesn't match in my opinion. Lucky for you, it's my opinion. If you're looking to try a new place, this might be the spot, or it might not. I'll likely pass on a repeat visit.

Nice local place and awesome breakfast! Their motto, it’s all about the gravy. Waitress was exceptional.

The breakfast here is a hit with us! Whenever we're going by on I-95 we head to St. Simon's Island just 'because' and, if it is open when we're there, we stop at the Sandcastle Cafe to eat. Maybe a half-dozen time? Never has it dissapointed.

An okay option among the village Cafes, first of all a cafe without actual coffee options shouldn’t be called a “Cafe”. Black coffee was served on a to go cup. Interesting menu options but unfortunately our food wasn’t tasty and was a bit cold. Went at a peak hour so waiting time for our food was about 35 minutes. Service was good

Sandcastle is now off of our list of places to eat. In past years, they have been good. However, they have lost their focus on customer service and it appears that the employees view service as a chore. Yesterday, my wife had the cheese grits with her omelet and they came out with the consistency of a watery soup. We mentioned it to the server and looked at us and said, "Oh, okay". She then left and did not return. We waited for her to return and she did not. A second server passed and we mentioned it to her, she stated in her NY accent, "That is the way grits are made and that is how we do it here". My wife and I were both blown away by this statement. We are both from the south and we KNOW HOW GRITS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. Why in the world would anyone come here and pay 15 dollars for a meal that they can EASILY make in their own kitchen and get treated like this. It is simply unacceptable. Especially when there are about a dozen other places on the island that are competing for our breakfast business. Good bye Sandcastle. We are DONE WITH YOU.

Trip Advisor hours show open on Monday and Tuesday. We rode our bikes over on Monday and they were closed. So we went to our favorite Mallory Street Cafe and had a wonderful breakfast. The sign on the window said they were open on Tuesday so we rode our bikes back over Tuesday morning. Closed. They are either out of business or something is wrong.

Husband got the corned beef hash with poach eggs...the poached eggs were boiled eggs... I got the biscuits with gravy sausage with scrambled eggs...mine was so hot that I burned my tongue... We have been here several times over the years it definitely isn't the same quality as it was in the past.... It's a shame

Suggested by a friend to have the cinnamon buns,but they were not on the menu ,so I had the shrimp and cheese grits ... can't go wrong with that it was very tasty, still left me wanting for the cinnamon bun though. Maybe next time

This is the only breakfast spot I go to when I’m in St Simons. Love the French toast. Staff is always friendly.

Had high hopes for this place. Came in with my husband, two year old and dog. Sat outside to grab breakfast before our 5 hour journey. Let our server know that we had a peanut allergy at our table. It being 2022 most restaurants have the ability to accommodate that. An hour goes by and no food. No drink refill. My husband was having to walk up and down the street with our restless hungry child. Two tables outside with us came after us and got food and left before we even got ours. We asked for the check because it wasn’t lookin like we were eating. Then At this point, we revived a side of fruit, side cornbeef and toast for my daughter. Another 10 mins go but still waiting for our main breakfast. When confronting the server, very rudely argued with my husband and I about how it’s a small kitchen, and that they need to clean new dishes for my allergy. My husband tried to explain that we understand that restaurant industry and if there was a little communication on there part then we would be understanding. The server said “unbelievable” as in its unbelievable that we are speaking up after an hour + and that we should get it. I’ve never seen a less apologetic staff. They tried to charge us for the food we didn’t get. And it’s embarrassing for a restaurant when other tables are asking us what we got because of how long it was taking. If you can’t accommodate food allergies in 2022 then it would be beneficial for your staff to have a sign that reads “can’t accommodate food allergies in a timely matter”. I never leave reviews but this server left a bad taste in my mouth with lack of customer service skills and lack of problem solving skills.

Wouldn’t recommend. Been to this place twice and both times have gotten turned away at the door due to “closing early”. Today (Sunday) we went at 10:45.

Great place to bring your dog with you for a meal out! The porch had enough breeze with the fans for us to be comfortable, and the food was delicious! Service was great too!

What a wonderful little spot. A group of 12 came over after doing sunrise on the beach. Staff was nice enough to even open the doors a bit early when they saw us with 6 kids outside. Their service was quick, polite and correct. Food was very good across the board from pancakes and French toast to eggs and omelets. Tight little space, so I would plan on getting there early or be okay with a little wait. They seemed to move people in and out fairly quickly. Prices were also very reasonable considering the quantity and quality of food.

Recommended by locals BUT would NEVER return. Definitely a tourist spot. Gotta go early to get a seat. They only offer Salmon and pork! Thought it would be cute to eat watching the beach view outside but NO DRINKS are allowed on the patio. Asked if we could take our drinks outside to sit and was ATTACKED and after asking to get a plastic cup. Just so you know the BEST way to have ANY cold drink (NON-Alcoholic or With) on the island is in a plastic cup so the ice doesn’t abruptly MELT. Our waiter was super nice but management will STARE you down until you leave! Super uncomfortable after I asked for a cup plastic cup as soon as I ordered my drink and sat down — trying to eat while being watched!!! Also kids screaming and just not something I’d ever recommend or go back to. Hard to put in words. Oh and The food was just OKAY.

0 stars would be more accurate. Food is mediocre at best, but the 0 stars mainly comes from their unprofessional attitudes toward paying customers. One waitress yelled at me for absolutely no reason, while I was standing with my family waiting for our table; I literally said nothing and did nothing to be yelled at, and she literally stepped in front of me in front of everyone in the restaurant and said, "you need to wait for your table, it's busy and you need to be patient." It came so out of left field that I turned to my husband and asked if she was speaking to me, and she confirmed that she was addressing me. I let her know that I understand and that I'm just waiting, and she just rolled her eyes, walked away, and began helping the people that came in after us, and they corrected her behavior and told her to help us because we came in first, and at that point she reluctantly seated us. At that point we wanted to leave, but we didn't want to give them the satisfaction because we believed that's exactly what they wanted. Because she caused such a scene and was not reprimanded we assume the entire establishment agreed with her behavior and therefore her agenda as well. We will never go back there ever again. It truly was traumatizing and utterly embarrassing.

Egg was hard and runny - almost like it had water in it. Pancake was tasteless and greasy. Spent $9.00 on breakfast and had to go home and cook my own breakfast. Worst breakfast ever. We have eaten here for years but this was last visit.

Food was ok, server had a bandaid on his hand that didn't look good. I made sure to watch that he stayed away from prep. He should have worn gloves

Takeout seafood chowder. It was served in a styrofoam coffee cup. Part of the lid melted. It was bland like whisk together flour and milk microwave till boiling throw in some seafood and dry parsley.

This is one of key places for any visit to the island, great location and great food. Breakfast was good, sandwiches are most highly recommended. After vacations to the island for years, this is a must stop place.

My wife and I were visiting the Golden Isles for a weekend getaway and ended up at the St Simons Island Pier district come lunch time. We saw the Sandcastle and it looked quaint, so we signed in for lunch, After a short wait we had a Shrimp po boy and and open faced ham and swiss, and both were delicious. It was enhanced by a spicy house bloody Mary (good for virus disinfectant). The service was friendly and efficient. Excellent location to walk up and down the pier area too.

This is my breakfast place of choice whenever visiting SSI. The crab cake bennies literally haunted my dreams until I went back and had them again. Paired with chocolate chip pancakes and that meal takes care of any craving you could ever think of. Location is awesome, and I love sitting outside and people-watching.

We did the breakfast buffet. It was superb. Also the location was near the pier, which meant that it was less busy Sunday morning than other breakfast spots up the street. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

The best breakfast in St Simons if not in the state of Georgia. Everything is delicious but the corned beef hash and hash browns are the bomb. We go here every morning we’re on the island.

We enjoyed a breakfast as soon as they opened. The breakfast buffet had several options and was kept stocked consistently. My coffee cup never got half empty, staff did a great job ensuring we had what we needed. Food was very good.

Excellent, clearly the best breakfast in the Golden Isle’s. All u can eat and drink buffet with excellent tasteful and well cooked dishes. 5 Stars easy.

Undercooked (raw) potatoes. Over cooked and solidified poached eggs. Drinks never delivered then complained to me about complaining for service and food quality that they were understaffed and wouldn't even offer a discount or an apology on 5 meals that weren't eaten.asked for a manager and they told me they didn't come in today. Just a rough scenario for an expensive meal that wasn't touched and was refused to do anything about as they were short staffed and that is how they cook their food.

Service and food was FANTASTIC! Price very reasonable. Get there early to beat the lines. Outside dining limited but very nice.

ALWAYS THE BEST! Seriously the best breakfast on St. Simon's. The breakfast bar is awesome and will satisfy even the biggest appetites.

Just waited 30 minutes and made eye contact with 3 separate employees while we weren't a waited on at all. Really strange experience since both tables next to me were being waited on.

What a great spot for lunch! They’re open for breakfast as well and I am sure it’s amazing too, but we haven’t been for breakfast or brunch yet. The sandwiches are a great size and I especially love the flounder sandwich (fried) and the sandcastle chick. They are fantastic!!! My wife had the salmon salad and she loved it both times! Ask about the grilled blueberry muffin!!!

Small plate with bacon eggs and French toast was $6 and it tasted great and was a great price. Also the buffet isn't bad either. The waffle with strawberries and cream is delicious too!

The owner and staff should be ashamed of yourselves. I was looking for a place to bring my family and reading reviews and how you treated a gentleman, a veteran at that. I am a verteran and I will not be coming to your establishment. I also will make every attempt to make it known how your treat people.

I had a blackened flounder sandwich that was great! Three large blackened fillets, with a tangy sauce, tomato, lettuce, pickle. Just right! Fried crab Balls for appetizer. We look forward to eating at Sandcastle on every visit!

One of the worst experiances I have ever had. I came here for a week on vacation and the first day I came here I had there breakfeast burrito and it was amazing. I came back a few days later in a sunday and Im told they removed it from the menu for the holiday weekend and I asked a few times if it was possible to still get one because it was so good. Literally every ingrediant was being served except the tortilla . I ended up eating something else and when I was done and tried to pay they told me their credit card machine was down and failed to mention this to me before I ate. So I wasted over 30 minutes trying to walk to every bar and atm within the pier area to find out they were all out of money or down aswell because of comcast. This was no fault of my own and a major inconveience that they did not care about one bit. I promised them Id come eat breakfast the next day and pay them and they told me the hours for breakfast. I get there at 11 as breakfast is ending and their credit card machine is still down. So I had to walk around playing this game of trying to get cash again. So then by the time i get cash and pay them its 1115-1120. And they refuse to let me sit down saying breakfast is over and I have to wait to 1130 to be seated. I literally went out of my way to come pay you guys back and eat with you again and you couldnt let me sit down ? Mind you I have health problems Im not trying to tell the whole world about and I really needed to sit down and the lady rudely tells me no untill everyone is up and gone from breakfast we dont seat anyone else and this is how weve always done it. Im a little annoyed at this point but still polite and kind and within a few minutes one of the guys comes up front and tells me at this point we are gonna have to ask you to leave. Im blown away. I asked for a reason and did not have one. I asked what I did wrong to no response. The manager / owner refused to speak to me even though I was kind and polite as possible. After spending $100 there in less than a week and basically trying to eat breakfast there every morning untill I leave this is what you do to return customer? And of all things this is how you treat a veteran on memorial day ? I had the integrity to come back and pay you, patience to deal with problems on your end that you passed the inconveniece over to me the customer when you should have been the one to find the solution, and then because you tired of me standing at the counter waiting to be seated when Ive been here over 30 minutes your gonna be as rude to ask me to leave in such a manner !?! This is dispicable ! I have never been so ticked and insulted. I hope everyone who reads this refuses to visit this business and give them your money because to them your honestly nothing but another number and tourist for them to make money off of. Go somewhere else and do not waste your time.

We had the worst breakfast . Hashbrowns tasted like old used oil. U could see it swimming in it. Wont go again. The coffe was ok it. My blt was so nad

Came here on vacation and it was sub par at best. The food is made buffet style in the kitchen and warmed to customers liking. Ex. I wanted crispy bacon, the cook took a handful of already cooked bacon and put it on the grill for a few minutes.... it came out burnt. The only thing that seemed fresh was the French toast because they had to add the egg to it. The eggs were a good portion. We paid $53.00 for two adults and a kid. I wouldn't recommend it especially at that price. The only great thing was the coffee.

Decent food but the staff was quite rude and disrespectful. Originally they told us the wait was 30 minutes and when we came back after 25, the woman at the front scolded us like she was our kindergarten teacher for not being there when our names were called. They then placed us at a table next to the register where we could hear their conversations referring to certain tables as “the annoying teenagers” or “the black people”. All around, not worth being passively sassed at for an hour by a bunch of stressed out Karens for a mediocre burger.

Trent was all over it! Great food great prices. Seafood plater was yummy. Had cucumber salad and cabbage sides. Both were just like moms.

This was my first time trying Sandcastle Cafe and it was amazing! We were on St Simons for 3 days and we ate here 3 times! The breakfast is amazing! Brunch is outstanding! And cocktails are absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the Peachy Palmer drink, the bulldog burger, and the strawberry waffle! So good and I cannot wait to go back next year and eat it again!

I read that this place had great shrimp salad and have to agree! Large, fresh seafood and not too much sauce/mayonnaise. Just right! And a large serving for a very reasonable price. My husband had the soup which looked equally delicious. Service was very friendly and quick. Only regret was not coming here for breakfast which also looked good!

We’ve tried most everything on the menu this winter as these wonderful folks have made it easy to get carry out. Several favorites we keep coming back to are 1) the grilled salmon sandwich (it’s a BLT but we hold the bacon) with fresh spinach...

Spent a few days on Saint Simon and were looking for a good spot to eat outside, even with the temps in the 50s. Sandcastle was perfect. Great location and we could eat outside, protected from the elements. Not far from the Saint Simon pier....

Everything is GREAT!! Portions are big!! The staff are really nice!!

Had the Crab Cake Sandwich. Had irritable stomach after leaving. Biscuit with egg cheese and bacon was dry and crumbled. Atmosphere was not inviting. No social diy. Tables and customers were very close together
