Love this place! Kebabs, rolls and biryani is yumm

I come here whenever I'm visiting my sister and i love it. The Pakistani food at this restaurant tastes like my family made it. I recommend to anyone who likes Indian/Pakistani cuisine.

Food, ambience, service was great!

Authentic Indian cuisine. So yummy. The mango juice is strong recommended.

Ordered channa masala take out, looked ok from their window. Turns out upon pick up, they added tons of water to increase the quantity, simply tasting bland, and oil floating on top. Garlic naan was as hard as carpet. And what was worse, I got tummy bug. SO EAT AT YOUR RISK. You pay for no flavor, stale food and medical bills. I WONDER WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE APPRECIATING AND WRITING REVIEWS FOR THIS PLACE? Are you sure you are reviewing the right place?

Shadman's has been a staple in Jersey City for over 30 years. I get some of the newer restaurants in Jersey City are fancy/posh with atmosphere to match but Shadman's has always been a homely place to me and the food has been consistent in flavor and taste. The naans, kabobs, and samosa chaat are my go-tos and I've never had bad Kheer (rice pudding) from here. I wish the road near Shadman could be reverted to how it was pre-Covid, it would make driving to it much easier.

Not sure why people are being so harsh to the restaurant. It’s not fancy apparently, but it’s definitely a good choice for take out and lunch. I don’t know how the authentic taste of Indian food taste like, but I really like the curry here (personally), I like the taste, and recommend goat or lamb, if you also like the meat. For me even the food was heated by microwave, that was understandable, it still tastes delicious for me. Why people discriminate microwave? Isn’t it a cooking tool? lol?

Not sure what happened to service here. It used to one of the busiest spots in town!

visited from other state, I was deeply disappointed by the level of customer service provided by one of your girls at the counter. During my most recent visit, that girl I encountered exhibited rudeness and lack of professionalism that marred what would have otherwise been a pleasant experience but not visiting again.

Quality of the Indian food is great, and the service, ambience are also super good.

Through our friend's recommendation we gave the place a chance. Went in for for just samosa Chaat and ended up ordering Garlic naan and chicken karahi with Reshmi Tikka as well. The naans were so perfect you can literally have them without any curry on the side but with chicken karahi it's just heavenly. It gets even better if you order mango lassi with it. For desserts, we tried Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai. I've never been a big fan of Ras Malai, surprisingly I loved it here. Overall, the ambience is nice, I liked their playlist too hahah. Their staff was pretty welcoming and helpful too cause I wasn't sure what to order. It was a great experience and definitely a MUST TRY!

Please see the attached picture and you will know why I gave 1star. Sorry but this is an insult to samosa. You just took a boiled potato and wrapped in dough and fried it. Didn’t even bother to mash it.. didn’t bother to mix anything with it for any flavours. How can you go so wrong with a samosa. Highly disappointed ☹️

Our experience at this lively and charming Pakistani hole-in-the-wall was the cherry on top of my family’s trip to NYC/Jersey City. Our people (desi) tend to be quite introverted, but our friendly and warm server, Charita, helped us feel right at home from the beginning to the end - sharing fun tidbits, and recommending us the tasty Gajar ka halwa as her personal favorite dessert at the end. I wish every server at every restaurant had her energy and zest for people. Among the four people of our party, not even one disagreed with the fact that each and every item was made to perfection. From the Chappali Kabob, to the Karahi, to the kheer which transported my mother back to memories of getting kheer on Bans Road in Karachi every Friday after Jumuah, we had a very lovely and memorable experience.

Went here with a group of 4 friends and had a phenomenal meal. Definitely some of the best fast-casual desi food I’ve had in Jersey City, and DEFINITELY one of the best values in the area. I now make the commute over on the PATH train from Manhattan on a weekly basis just for the food. Must-haves dishes based on our experience: 1) Kheer (the rice pudding dessert, I have no idea how they do this as well as they do - everyone at my table asked for seconds) 2) Nihari (if it’s available, the bone marrow stew is so thick, rich, and flavorful, it was an immediate favorite) 3) Tandoori chicken (fresh, flavorful, and pairs really well with garlic naan) 4) Chana (just enough spice to pair well with keema naan)

Great place. The only thing against this place that if you use your debit card or credit card to pay they add service fee on the customer not on the owner.

Be prepared for kid sized portions! I paid $15 for a garlic roti and a chicken tikka masala. Sounds pretty standard, but I did not expect the portion to be half a pint and it doesn’t even come with rice or any other extras! Flavor wise, it was good. But come on, this is so little food!

Have been going here past 14 years and its my all time favorite. I dont live in NJ anymore but whenever I visit NJ i make sure i eat a meal there. My favorite is chicken seekh kabab, achari chicken, halwa puri, chicken karhai and bihari kabab. But i have tried all the menu and everything is best. Delicious kheer cant forget.

The food was soo yummy and great , must try Bihari tikka I just loved it and kheer is so damm good ,the quality of food is also so good and the staff was so friendly the manager is cool and helpful while placing the order . Must visit place in jersey city!!!

Still one of the best places to get good Desi food. I tried their combo platter recently (rice + 2 sides). Very good quality and portion size. Their workers are very nice and respectful.

“Keema naan” use to be good and was only $2.50 back in the day. 2017 was around $5 and got smaller and had less meat, felt like a plain naan. Now it’s ridiculous for $12 you get air. Shadman lost its quality and raised its prices. Horrible.

My father always used to bring me this food since I was little chicken kabob with naan but now I am older I wanted to experience it once again . The staff did not seem interested in customer I asked the guy about the different curries and he would suggest with the curry he tried to brush my off (the one with the glasses) in the front . So I order few naans and kabobs and I asked him can I have the green sauce he said it comes with it . When I come home the green sauce is not in the bag which is disappointing that’s why I asked in the beginning. It’s sad I’ve been eating here since I was a kid and they can’t even get the food right or help you out . I visited here in 3/10/23 . It’s not the cooks it’s not the owner it’s just simply the workers in the front . Pls fix that

If you are a fan of great Indian / Pakistani home cooking as I am....you should treat your self. Remember the garlic naan. Enjoy.

Been a customer here for almost 12 years. The keema naans are SO GOOD! The price on the other hand, is very unreasonable. I mean $10 for ONE naan? There's no good excuse for that even if you use the pandemic because at other restaurants keema naans are 1 for $3. A new thing I noticed is that the kebabs also have a weird sort of pungent smell like they've been stored in a musty closet for years and reheated. Everything else is good. One suggestion: a membership/points program. so returning customers can get a discount. Update: They package the kebabs with tape now instead of staples, and earned another star. Now PLEASE fix the price of keema naans for a full 5 stars.

Avoid at all cost. Got $163 worth of food. Naans were like rubber and food was dry.

I have been ordering from here for years and absolutely love the food. I order at least once a week or every other week from here It always taste fresh and delicious!!! My favorites are the tikka masala and the samosas, yumm! The staff/owners are all super nice always.

Worst curry I've ever eaten. Tikka Masala was all cream. Garlic Naan was the only edible thing.

place is too tight but food quality/prices are good. Specially white Chana, sekh kabab, bihari kabab, ghulab jamun are tasty as well, not sure about frozen desserts, will definitely go back there.

It was amazing especially if you need halal and desi food at New Jersey lamb not available buT chicken Karahi and beef kabab you can enjoy.

4 year old review: Best Pakistani food in NJ. Goat Curry is perfect. —— Now: Gave 5 stars 4 years ago, changing it to 4 stars now. Food now tastes different with every visit which should be consistent daily however mostly it’s good. Prices are higher now meanwhile portions become smaller and I don’t like use of plastic containers while dine in.

The food and the quality is consistently good. Their biryani and kababs never disappoint.

This is the best Indian/Pakistani cuisine I have ever had, personally, and I’m a big fan of that food. The prices are very fair for the quantity and quality that you get, the service is always good, the staff is friendly and I think it’s a hidden gem of Jersey City, and in general the tristate area. The only downfall is that I can’t have this food every day since they don’t deliver to Bayonne. LOL - thank you for always providing me with delicious food!

Amazing Biryani and Gulab Jamun

This is one of my favorite place to eat. I have been going there for the past 20 years. Although you can't go wrong with any of their food items, my favorites are better/ sesame seed naan, chicken kababs and somosa chart.

My wife and I love the kofta , chicken piryani and Tikka Masala, and my favorite is their Nun bread . Must check this place out !

Really nice people and very good food!! Lots of vegan options, including a really yummy roti. You can get take out either hot or cold, which is great if you want to pick up food for later.

Fresh and tasty desi food on a Sunday afternoon, what more can you ask for in a desi restaurant. Would be visiting more often with collegues.

We are visiting this restaurant since five years. The food is amazing as well the ambience and service.! I definitely recommend everybody to try good Pakistani food.

My only go to Pakistani/Indian restaurant. The food is 10/10 and only gets better in taste each year.

First off, I want people to understand that this is purely a takeaway/to-go place. This is not the restaurant to go to if you’re looking for a welcoming staff, aesthetics or any kind of nice ambiance. The food honestly tastes like those microwaveable Indian dinners. There wasn’t much authenticity or flavor. The chicken tikka masala just tasted like plain tomato paste with a dash of turmeric. The achari chicken my bestfriend had was not pickled or spicy the way it’s supposed to be. The palak paneer didn’t have much paneer, just puréed spinach from what I saw. The naans were not very fresh and all these curries are ready-made so they are NOT served hot. They are all served in plastic containers whether you choose to dine-in or not. The staff isn’t very welcoming and friendly. They were glaring at our table as if they were waiting for us to leave even though we had a while before closing time. I would just go to Little India unless you actually want microwaved bland Indian curries.

Fairly priced excellent food and service, I also love places where the food is ready quickly and this qualifies for that.

🍴 FOOD [3/5]: Food was alright, not the best option if you want good Pakistani cuisine. It is served semi-buffet style: you order at the front and they ship out the dishes from their hot bar. The short trip to Journal Square's "Little India" is worth it. The achari chicken was good but the other dishes we ordered (palak paneer, chicken Tikka curry, chicken karahi, samosa) could be better - the chicken meat had more cartilage than expected. The naan was very good though! 🧑‍💼 SERVICE [3/5]: Service was fine and the staff was helpful in answering any questions we had. I took off a couple stars because they started cleaning up well before closing and were continuously looking at our table as if we were overstaying our welcome. 🪩 VIBE [2/5]: Very plain atmosphere, food is served in to-go boxes - not great for aesthetics or for the environment. Unfortunately I can't say the flavor makes up for the lack of overall dining experience.

Went for dinner since we were in the neighborhood. The service was excellent. The Achaea chicken and goat curry were cooked to perfection. The basmati rice was long grain and flavorful. I also recommend the lassi and the dessert since the balance of sweetness is perfect and not overly sweet.

They used to have the best buffets but love the food at Shadman’s for takeout or dine in. Staff is super friendly too and would recommend the kebabs, chicken curry, beef haleem and any of their platters! Especially if you are on the go

Awful food, rubbish service, and zero interest in the customers. I am amazed that this is any good reviews at all. We spent about $60 on a takeout, and the food was way below average! There is a market in Jersey City for someone to come in and set up a brilliant Indian restaurant, that serves authentic food, with love and passion!

These people seriously have the worst people working in this restaurant. More than 10 times they have missed items in their deliveries and in store pick ups. Deliveries are sealed before they pick it up so Drivers can’t even check. So people who want to eat can’t really eat Becuz most of their stuff is missing but they charge u for it and then tell you…we will give you with tomorrows order. Pathetic people in this store 10 plus orders missing items Shame on this Restaurant for this kind of staff

It was too spicy even though I picked a mild and a medium for my platter. Those were the least spicy choices I had available.

I find this place expensive for the amount of food served. If you are not familiar with their cuisine or the names of the dishes, they don’t allow you to see what they have. Not a friendly place, at least the person taking the orders, not the first time this has happened.

I've been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years. The only thing changed at this restaurant are the prices. Ridiculously overpriced. Food is never fresh, and they expect us to pay more than asked. Charging sepearte for the sauce and salad. Like if i buy something they would not put any.sauce untill u pay double. I would give 0 stars if I can, definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. Waste of time and money. I will never go again HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

For $14 a lunch bowl includes rice, a vegetable and half a piece of in-bone chicken. Almost zero value for money.

The chicken kebabs at Shadman are one of a kind. I usually get them every week. It doesn’t go bad that quickly either. The place is very colorful and nice too.
