We tried Smak for the first time today and it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was delicious - cabbage rolls, stuffed pepper, olivie salad, marinated mushrooms and chicken kebabs. My fiancé ordered a few desserts to go and all are phenomenal. Service was wonderful and we will definitely be returning soon!

Delicious! Stop in for yummy food, very authentic flavors. Not spicy, just perfect comfort meals. Conveniently next to QT, yep the bbq pig is the place. Clean checkered tables, sweet staff. A Gaffney must across from the Outlets.

This was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in years. Service was great and food was fantastic. The chicken kabobs were flavorful and juicy. Sweet tea wasn’t quite southern sweet tea but the food made up for it. Once we ordered our food came out within 15 minutes. The honey cake was very sweet and the cream between the layers was amazing. This restaurant is definitely worth trying.

Gaffney has needed a restaurant like this for a VERY long time! The food is Delicious and fresh! It's very clean and pretty inside. The employees are very nice and answer any questions. Great for all ages... our 11 and 13 year Old daughters even loved it!

I can't say enough about how much my family enjoyed Smak Deli. It was absolutely amazing. 3 of us shared Tajik rice and chicken kebabs with cabbage salad, cabbage rolls, 2 samsas, and grandma's beef dumplings. My 9 year old granddaughter even said 5 stars for everything!!! I got a piece of Napoleon to take home for dessert and hubby got a round loaf of bread to have tomorrow. So good

We have been meaning to try this place and finally did yesterday. Staff very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Don’t let the signage fool you. Menu is very interesting and a very good change of pace dishes we ordered were outstanding.

I went into this vaunted Smak and was disappointed. I ordered chicken kebab, they brought it warmed up from yesterday, and the same thing with country-style potatoes. Before you sit down to eat, make sure everything is actually fresh.

This is the best food I’ve eaten. Need more places like this near truck stops!!

Excellent service and food. The food is really worth trying not so salty nor so sweet; It has many varieties of dishes and desserts. the employees are very friendly. And it's really worth going into this restaurant than eating at a fast food place.

An extraordinary experience. I cannot think of a place that is comparable in Charlotte or Atlanta to what you find here. A casual and comfortable place with friendly service and unique cuisine.

Don't let the outdoor signs or location fool you, SMAK is a wonderful departure from a typical restaurant! (and it's not a BBQ place either, lol) Great food, staff are fantastic/helpful as well! Everything is seasoned perfectly and fresh. Grilled chicken kebabs were moist and tender, something that's not easy to achieve if you've ever grilled them yourself. No matter how full you are after the main meal, you must try their deserts! The artfullly decorated peach (really a cake/cookie with a warm filling) was the perfect end to a great meal. We return for another meal in the near future!

Well, I have to say this place was a little confusing with the BarBQue sign on their building!!!! BUT, PLEASE NOTE WALKIN AND EAT.... THE FOOD IS AMAZING, THE PLACE IS SUPER CLEAN. We will be back as long as I'm in town.

We came to try something out of the ordinary! The food was amazing and seasoned to perfection! I highly recommend trying. You won’t find anything like this around.

This food is the best food I have had off 85 from Atlanta to Charlotte. Delicious well flavored food served quickly. Hurry up and order the chicken kabob, dolma and cabbage rolls along with the beet salad and Tajik pilaf when you come before they become a Michelin rated spot and their prices triple! Amazing amazing food. The beet salad was out of this world. I am so sad I didn’t get the shorpa soup.

Whoa! We were not expecting food of this high quality when we made lunch plans driving down I-85. While your eyes may not recognize the names of the menu items, your taste buds will leap for sheer joy. A 12" plate heaped over 3" deep in kabob and rice pilaf with a delicious carrot salad will cost about $15, but honestly the servings are large enough for 2. And don't worry about the kids. Our "picky eater" made an order of dumplings disappear in record time. Full Disclosure: After parting with our friends we had to sneak back in and get another order and a loaf of bread 'to go'. There's no hiding the real deal.

Hidden gem along I85. The food is incredible and flavorful. I was delightfully overwhelmed with their options. Staff graciously showed us options so we could try a range of food. We even left with a piece of cherry cake and a HUGE piece of Baklava, along with some hand pies for lunch tomorrow. YUM!

First time. Awesome food, if you want something other than Gaffney blah food. This is it. Great different foods. Would recommend

Could not find front door. Need signage. Only one waitress. Everyone was nice. And food was awesome despite this. Can be confusing looking at it as the signage on building says bbq. Definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed our meal very much. For dessert I had the zebra cake and my son had baklava. Both were delicious. We will be back!

The Pelmeni were probably the best I've ever had, overpriced but absolutely juicy and flavorful, and the presentation was spot on.

Delicious! Today my husband and I shared samsa, chicken kebab, borsh, and honey cake. All the flavors worked beautifully together. I can't wait to do back and try the dolma and olivie! (And maybe snag another piece of honey cake)

Fun unique flavors! My husband had the chicken kebab, dolma, vinegrette salad combo meal (picture 1). I ordered the Shurpa, Samsa, and Olivie. The Olivie was my favorite, so light and refreshing. The samsa was savory and flaky. The lamb in the Shura soup melts in your mouth. They're definitely busier at lunch. We went at 5pm on mother's day and it was very quiet. Don't let looks deceive you. They still have the BBQ signs on the building.

I absolutely suggest this restaurant if you're looking for fantastic food, and at very reasonable prices! I ordered the tajik pilaf with the chicken kebab and the cabbage rolls and the stuffed peppers... DELICIOUS!! Well done!

This place is incredible. The flavors are unusual and amazing. We had the eggplant salad: crunchy, garlicky, a touch of sweetness. Lamb stew: rich and flavorful, in a cream sauce. Dumplings: light and tasty.

After reading so many amazing reviews, we decided to try this place out. Unfortunately, our visit was underwhelming. The restaurant was clean and had 3 staff working. When asked for recommendations, we didn't get any. Half of the entrees included Kabobs, but they didn’t have any. My husband tried the pot roast and it came out as a stew which was cold. The stuffed pepper and the cabbage rolls have the same filling as most other dishes - I definitely prefer it in the cabbage roll since it was topped with a red sauce. The pepper looked good, but disintegrated when I started cutting into it. We were charged for tap waters and weren't checked on for refills or to ask how our meal was going. We waited a long time for the bill after we finished eating and eventually went to the front to pay; we were asked what the problem was. This place has good potential - I hope the overall experience can be improved.

I don’t just hand out five stars, but this place deserves it. Best food in Gaffney hands down. Middle Eastern and Ukrainian influence. I had the chicken kabob and baklava. Took home some other finger food items and fresh bread. The lady that runs it is super sweet. Definitely my new go to spot.

Food is AMAZING, made fresh with real ingredients, and prices very reasonable. Best meal in a long time! Very convenient access to I85, accessible parking. Comfortable seating, friendly service. 5 stars, will be back!

This is an excellent Slavic restaurant in Gaffney, although it still looks like its predecessor, a bbq place. We had borscht soup, cabbage rolls, Tajik pilaf, kebabs, eggplant salad and a variety of desserts. I highly recommend!

Finally some delicious home-cooked food close to the highway. We travel a lot around America, and it’s very difficult to find food made from quality products, because here quality products are not very good either, everyone who has been to European countries and Central Asia knows what I’m talking about. but these guys tried and did the impossible, found quality products and prepared delicious and interesting food with soul. highly recommend

This was a gorgeous little deli with amazing food. There were many things that I’ve never even seen for sale in the states before!! If you’re into exploring foreign food, this restaurant is a must-try!

This is a hidden gem in Gaffney! They have taken the granddaddy bbq building by I-85. Signs have not changed yet. Did not know much about dishes but received a good explanation. So, we stayed and had a wonderful lunch!! Cabbage rolls, chicken kabobs, baklava, cabbage salad and Lula kabobs are all wonderful! Support this restaurant! I married a Gaffney girl and visit family frequently. We found this place by accident searching for lunch. So glad I did! Prices are very good. BEST restaurant in Gaffney!

Everything was so fresh and delicate tasting! I ordered the beet salad and cabbage rolls and my husband got the dolmas and chicken plate with potato salad. Both salads were perfectly seasoned and a good portion. The dolmas were loaded with beef instead of the gloppy rice you find elsewhere. I would come back to try everything on the menu!

Staff was kind and attentive. Food was immaculate, fresh, authentic, and the best I’ve had outside of Ukraine. Not many pictures because I was sobbing from joy at the flavors. A hidden gem that is a must. Bakery items were straight from the oven, no preservatives. You can taste the love. Sharlotka apple pie for dessert.

Food was good. But when my son & I walked in, the lady made sure to let me know that they did not sell BBQ! Didn’t even give me a chance to order. So, beware if you don’t “look” like her, you may be reminded

My family and I love this place. The food is made fresh to order and it isn't fast food. It is a healthy alternative to the normal restaurant and it is international food style. The chicken is unlike anything you will ever have. I highly recommend this place if you want something different.

This place is heaven sent 😍 From a middle eastern women, who has been searching for real from scratch goodness, THESE PEOPLE CAN THROW DOWN! 🙌 Stuffed cabbage and dalma rolls (we call them grapeleaves) are PERFECTION 👌 Their baklava is good, even when NOT fresh 😋 The Chicken Kabobs are fantastic... Just, PLEASE go try it, and support this little gem! I hope they plan to stay, because I can't get enough!!

Oh my goodness! We had a great experience! The food was so fresh and delicious! Not busy at all! The meal options are such a great deal! You get a large portion! I tried the chicken kebabs with eggplant salad and cabbage rolls! So flavorful! They also have SO many dessert options - baklava, croissants, coconut roll, chocolate layer cake, crepes! I can't wait to go back to try more! Highly recommend!

2nd time coming here. Russian lady is so nice. Amazing baked savory and sweet items and unique hot food items- cabbage rolls, soups, kebabs, and salads are all very impressive and unlike anything youve had before. I feel like im at my russian grandmas house in Kazan when im here and ive never been exposed to any russian culture . Love this place

First time here and maybe the last. Our table of two got neglected after 1 party of 12 came in and the other half of the restaurant was empty. Our server claimed the restaurant was "so busy." Theres also no refils unless you flag the server down to which he didnt even look our way. We had to leave our table to come up to the counter and he thought we just walked in. Not worth the $50 we spent

When you get your food, don't expect a server to look your way ever again. Don't expect refills. Apparently a half empty restaurant is "super busy." When we came in there were maybe 3 other tables. When we left the restaurant was almost half full. Once our plates arrived, and not even all the food we ordered, the server walked away and never looked our way again for the full hr we were there. And it wasn't just our table being neglected. But, if you want to try something different I guess it's worth a stop.

Food was great, and a great retreat from normal fare available around town. Everything we ordered was very tasty and well presented. Desserts were great as well. Restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Owners Mustafo and Svetlana really took care of us! We will be back!

Everything was freshly made and delicious! I wasn’t very familiar with the dishes I was ordering, but it was all amazing. The service was excellent and the interior was spacious and quite charming. (And yes, the building very obviously used to be a barbecue joint.) They also have a wonderful variety of baked goods that I can’t wait to go back and try. Definitely give this place a try. They’re clearly putting a lot of love and care into everything they make.

This is one of the best meals I've had in over a decade. Its comforting, filling, and delicious. It's love on a spoon. Try the shurpa, cabbage rolls, chicken kabob, cabbage salad. The kompot and fruit tea and excellent.

I took my granddaughter (Limestone U student) here to eat. WHAT A SURPRISE!. It is outstanding food! I live in Spartanburg and will easily drive there to eat. The food is unique and wonderful! Staff is friendly and attentive. It was a grand surprise!

Went on a Wednesday night, slow night, but good food. I had the Lula kabobs and cabbage rolls. Really good! We accidentally went in, (BBQ on roof), but was pleasantly surprised.

I ain't even mad about my tea coming out with no ice, y'all! It was cold and fresh, and I get it: Southerners and ice in our tea. The food though. Flavorful, different , but comforting and savory. The cabbage rolls are so good. And though I was unfamiliar with Dolma, I am a fan now. There are pickled onions that just compliment the meal perfectly. The chef's red sauce on the flat bread was excellent. There was an eggplant salad that was Fire. If the eggplant salad isn't your pick, there are other salad options when you choose a meal. The dessert cooler is inviting. I got a layered chocolate crepe cake, it wrapped up an already perfect meal. Oh, and the baklava pieces in the case were twice the size of what's offered in other places...whew...Just go!

This little place is the star restaurant in Gaffney. Food was soooo good. I am a cook and baker so I am very picky. I DO NOT eat fast food at all. This little restaurant has such fresh healthy ingredients. Everything my husband and I ate we loved. We told a lot of our friends today about this wonderful little place we ate at for the first time. We will be coming back!

Delightful lunch stop at Smak Deli Cafe during our road trip along the 85. A very warm atmosphere with lovely music, cute plates, and welcoming service. The food was incredible—everything was deliciously seasoned and unique. Loved the Tajik Pilaf, Chicken Kebab, and the Shurpa soup. They even have baked goods and special Tazik drinks. Would love to come back and try more things if I’m in the area again.

If you like Eastern European food this is your chance to eat a delicious meal in the middle of South Carolina. If you don’t eat it try it and you will be back. Menu is in english too. If you don’t like to sit there take food to go. Good quality and lots of flavor.

Every dish and we had 7 were absolutely delicious. Growing up with Russian food, this restaurant nailed it.
