Hands down some of the best BBQ in Redding. I typically get an order of pulled pork fries or their pulled pork burger on Mondays, which is as amazing as it sounds. Portions are huge, the food is great, the staff is nice. The atmosphere is lacking, but this isn't a place you go to for the atmosphere - it's a place you go for really good small town BBQ.

On the way back from the Redding falls loop, we were looking for a BBQ place to eat and found Smokin' Joes BBQ on Google Map. Stopped by at around 3-4 pm and order a 4-person menu. It has more food than we can absorb and they're great including- Tri-tip, rips, pull pork, and chicken with sides. Smoke and rub flavors are much better than those found South Bay which are quite bland. We personally met Joe and talked a bit about smoked brisket. The reward from Joe is a plate of burned end - So tasty and flavorful. Not only Joe, whoever helped us there are very courteous. All in all, South Bay needs to have this kind of service and food quality.

Just WOW! All around just wow! You won't go wrong if you give this place a shot! If you like good BBQ, this is worth your time!

Great conversation and absolutely never disappointed with anything I’ve ever ordered. They remember you when you come back. Real family type place. The ribs are my favorite but they serve up everything delicious. A bit on the pricier side, but it’s worth it for how good it is! You can expect to see the owner Joe around. He’s a very friendly conversational guy.

Let me tell you, if you don't know about these folks, you really need to. Great Southern hospitality right here in northern California. Oh and the food, well you will just have to find out.

Great food. We had the sampler and some St. Louis style ribs and all was delicious. The entire staff was super nice and our food came in not time. Really excellent bbq spot.

We gathered family and friends at the restaurant that even tho it is smaller there is a "blow your mind" mister system outdoors under the awning over the picnic tables that is just wonderful. Service was great and they timed food for our late arrival perfectly. The meat was so tender, pastrami was so flavorful with an out of this world sweet/spicy mustard sauce Joe invented. Much less than i expected for the eight of us - less that a hundred dollars. And the onion rings are crisp and always hot. We will be back. Thank you to the great staff and wonderful owner Joe.

I've been eating at smokin joes for 9 years now and have had an incredible experience every damn time. Their barbecue sauce is drinkable

Our first time at Smokin Joes. We heard their ribs were great so we ordered a rack of pork ribs. Reviews stated they fell off the bone. Not even close and they were tough. We were terribly disappointed.

If you're looking for some great BBQ in Redding, then head over to Smokin' Joe's BBQ. We stopped in for dinner while on a road trip, and I have to say that it was some of the BEST BBQ RIBS I've ever had! We ordered the Meal Deal for two which included a half rack of ribs, tri tip, pulled pork, and chicken with two sides. Everything was so good! If you find yourself passing through, it's definitely worth a stop.

Really good BBQ here they know what they’re doing. Ribs that fall off the bone. Good Smokey taste. They offer a generous first responder and military discount. Will be back!

It's still amazing food and some of the best BBQ around but you can tell with all the rising prices of the food product itself they had to decrease portions slightly. I used to get the pulled pork fries for the same price and I wouldn't even come close to eating it all and have leftovers for tomorrow. Today, it was visibly smaller in portion and I didn't have an issue eating it all. Shrinkflation is real but I can't blame this company at all for it. It just sucks it happens ='( Idk, maybe I caught them on a bad time and my order was rushed out. I was just able to visibly tell opening it that the portion was reduced from past orders of the same product. Totaly willing to be wrong because I love this place that much. UPDATE: Yup it was just a bad day.

Everything was good but the pulled pork was rather clumpy and not really shredded or pulled. And 15$ for a single sandwich is crazy

One of my uncles's last wishes was to have smokin Joe's, ribs, pork and beans and the fixings at his house for his family. He was so pleased with a big smile, knowing his family was in for a treat during such a difficult time. The food order was perfect. The owner and staff went out of their way to make everything delicious and then they carried it all out to the car with kind words of encouragement, and a sweet message for my uncle. Love these guys, love their food!!!

Best BBQ intown.... a must go to place for some bbq cravings! Huge portion for the price, friendly staff, delicious refillable drinks! Watermelon lemonade and mango is my favorite. I highly recommend this Bbq joint. Also some tables outside to enjoy the the beautiful weather while you feast. 🤙😋😉AAAA+++

Smoking Joes is the best place to eat in all of Redding. You get to meet smoking Joe himself. Customer service exceeds expectations. My kid loves smoking Joe. He even played some hello kitty cars game with my girl. If you want top of the line food with a mom and pop feel. This is the place to go!

Usually amazing and never an issue. Not sure what happen today but almost no flavor, no bbq sauce, cold half cooked fries. 😢 just ehhh.

Well, what can I say! It's BBQ! Isn't all BBQ awesome? 🤔Well, I thought so until I tried Smokin Joes. It was then I realized, I have been eating truly average BBQ up until Smokin Joes came into my life. Now, I compare all BBQ to Joe's and not many can measure up. Off of 44, it is well worth a short diversion from 5 to dine al'fresco on a picnic table at Joe's. You will not be disappointed. Oh! And the service? The service is wonderful. They are courteous, helpful and a little funny. Everything we need for an enjoyable lunch experience between meetings.

We were really craving some BBQ food but the weather was just not permitting that so we decided to try Smokin' Joes! We got the family meal for four and we were not disappointed! There was enough food for us all and we had leftovers! The BBQ sauce is so delicious and the meat fell off the bone! Definitely worth the money and going out in the weather to pick it up! We went through the drive thru and the lady working the window was so pleasant to talk to! We absolutely loved the entire experience!

If you haven't already tried this place I highly recommend it. The owner Joe is amazing not only is the food bomb but great service. Joe gave my kids a free chocolate bar because he hadn't seen us in so long.

1/20/24 Been a customer many times, but what we received Friday night was not anything I’d call food. My sandwich had very little chicken, was crunchy it was so old and over cooked I couldn’t chew it. My drink was suppose to be diet because I’m diabetic but was a regular drink so couldn’t even have that. My spouse wasn’t thrilled with his meal but was able to eat it only to be nauseous rest of the night. Really don’t understand why anyone would serve out a meal like I received to a customer definitely wasn’t worth 40.00 plus a tip.😡

Food is amazing. Super friendly people and family owned. Love this place. Discounts for fire fighters and law enforcement as well. Garlic fries are so good.

I wish I took pictures but I ate the food too quickly. This place is really good. I was having an awful day and the sweet woman at the window really cheered me up with her kindness. The burger and onion rings really hit the spot and my kid liked the tritip and he is really picky about his tritip. I will return.

A real hidden gem in Redding! Some of the best BBQ I've found in CA. I respect their clear passion and focus on nailing the traditional BBQ experience, instead of distracting you with overpriced concepts covering up for subpar meat. We stopped by on a Monday around Dinner time, and we were impressed by the tender Ribs and focus on straight forward flavorful BBQ at a reasonable price. The $22 combo plate had generous portions of tender smokey meat, all of which was quite tasty and prepared with care, served in an authentic traditional BBQ style, even their sides like the baked beans, garlic fries and toast were tasty. I overheard the owner say "Food should taste even better than it looks" and they nail that, although it looked good enough, it tasted phenomenal. Real deal BBQ in Norcal at a reasonable price, you can tell the owner Joe is proud of his food, he greeted us and checked in about our meal. The location is humble, but the vibes and the expansive view across the street added to the experience. They have a drive through and some indoor and outdoor seating. If your passing through on I5 like we were, stopping by Smokin' Joes is worth it if you want to enjoy real deal succulent smoked meats; instead of overpriced nonsense where they try to distract you with "modern fusion BBQ concepts" or fancy interior decorations and branding because they can't nail the fundamentals of the BBQ genre like you often get with many "BBQ resturants" in CA.

The food portions are enough for 2 or more depending on what you order. The staff is always friendly and pretty fast on service.

So delicious! All the meats are amazing. The chicken was my personal favorite but you couldn’t go wrong with any one of them. The ribs literally fall off the bone, no exaggeration. Very Smokey flavor on everything which was delicious, but just keep that in mind if you don’t like heavy Smokey flavor. Beans were also super tasty. Staff super nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot.

This place is very good. The first time I tried it man it was a good pulled pork sandwich with season fries bom. Go try it wont disappoint promise see u soon smokin joes

This was an incredible and unexpected experience. Our family moved here 3 years ago, and I wish we had tried this gem sooner. I’ve never had such incredible BBQ before today. The service is incredible, the staff is personable, and the food… the food was literally to die for. If you’re contemplating trying this, do yourself a favor and just go!

First time Eating here! My family really loved the Pulled pork and the Ribs. We definitely will go back. The tri-tip how ever was very Tuff to eat but over all it was very good.

This is the best barbecue I've had in a long time! I had the tri-tip burger (with provolone, instead of cheddar). It was incredible. It came with amazing bbq sauce for dipping. The meat was flavorful. The onions were perfection. I think the bun might have been cooked in garlic butter. It was just outstanding. The fries were great. The onion rings were crispy. I heard good things about the cheeseburger, the 2-person meat platter (chicken, tri-tip, pulled pork, and ribs), and the gutbuster from my lunch companions too! Great sauces all around. The service was great too. The lady who came to check on us offered refills and made sure we had everything we needed, which is more than I expected from such a small spot. I figured we'd order and be on our own: and that would have been fine. But this was just a step above. I would gladly go back and eat there again. (Tomorrow, if I lived in town. Alas, I'll have to wait for my next trip to Redding)

We were on the look out for some good BBQ, being that we’re from Texas, and traveling through California we actually didn’t think we’d find any, BUT let me tell you this right here was absolutely delicious!!!! And the most friendliest staff ever! Go check out Smokin Joes you won’t be disappointed!

Mmmmm, smokey, crispy crust, tender meat 😋 amazing brisket sandwich, and really nice people. This location is really small, so don't go with a big group cuz seating is super limited.

Food just wasn't tasty. Even adding salt and pepper to Mac salad it was blah. Ribs were OK but served dry with a small cup of sauce. Where I come from ribs are smothered in sauce, hot and smoky off the grill. Probably won't make a return trip, I can get a tastier, full rack with sauce-on at the grocery store for 1/2 the price and twice the flavor.

Drove all the way from Los molinos to eat here. Ordered like a sampler plate. Chicken , pork ribs, and pulled pork. The pulled pork was like leather and dry. The rest was good. They treated my 3 dogs with a treat that was cool.not as good as I know they can be.

A little on the pricey side, the foods not bad but not the best. We spent over $30 for the tri tip fries for $15.99 and then 2 drinks almost 4 $ and sides that come in a 3 1/4 oz cup for almost 4 $ each also. Dining area is very tiny 2 tables crammed together, you can't sit at the bar they have with the chairs because the tables are up against them, and the other smaller bar is right next to soda machine to were you are right in front of it and also right out the door of the restroom.

Small portions, fuel flavor in ribs, potato salad and mac&cheese flavorless.

We ordered take away and had specific needs, we don't eat pork. Then realized they gave us pork ribs, I called to let them know they made a mistake, and the girl apologized and I asked for them to comp a meal since my husband works on Airport road occasionally. When I called two months later Joe was too happy to feed my husband lunch no questions or explanation.

This place is absolutely amazing. The price is high but the quality is even higher. I've never been even a little bit disappointed with the food that comes out of this little building. It's too bad I can only give this place 5 stars for they deserve much more.

Excellent food and service! My sister and I stopped on our way from Oregon to Sacramento and we were glad we did! The fries were amazing and our sandwiches were phenomenal! The customer service was also top-notch! If we lived closer, we'd be there all the time. If you get a chance to go visit this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

Omg, the best bbq ever! We fly into Redding airport and drive just down the rd and this place was highly recommended, at first it looks like a hole in the wall, but best bbq we have found on west coast hands down. If you are ever even close to Redding it’s worth a stop, ribs were perfect meat just fell off the bone, chicken had amazing flavor, tri tip was absolutely perfect, and the pulled pork was not dry at all and the flavor was great.

Customer service is excellent! They have a drive-thru! The food was amazing! We got a family meal deal for 4. Kids grilled cheese and fries meal (Includes a drink), and an extra side of onions rings. Everything was delicious and the portions were good size.
