Went there to celebrate a birthday party and our waiter, Manny, had a really bad attitude. First we all arrived there at 7:30 and ordered at 8. The food did not come to us until 9. When we asked about this he told us that we did not come at the same time and that’s why it took a long time. Fine. Then when I asked for a dessert menu, I didn’t know they had a tray of examples, he told me that I needed to wait until other people at the table finished their slices of pineapple first then get the dessert. I saw that he was frustrated when we divided the check but I did not understand why. Was it something we did or I did? Food was great by the way. But... Never argue with your customers.

Great food, good service but make sure you ask for an itemized receipt. They sometimes include gratuity and give you a receipt to sign that is not itemized. Get the Rodizio and ask for the green olives when you start. Save room for the pineapple at the end!

I use to come here with my family for over 20 years and I must say after the change in staff and food quality things have really shifted. Between the food and workers i was disappointed. I saw one of the waiter : rubbing his face, picking his nose, cleaning the inside and outside of his ear, whipping his nose on his hand…. Like, I feel horrible having to express this on a comment but unfortunately not one person stopped him instead all 5-6 guys hustled and gathered in the corner laughing at each other’s actions. But it was that one waiter that I couldn’t even comprehend the level of sanitary violation, and after got me thinking what happened to the original solar de Minho ? When the waiter had pride, professionalism and dignity? Someone should really pay close attention to the way that man behaves in front of customers. I wish I can even comment on the food quality, but i feel like the behavior of the waiters were more important to note than the food.

good place, not great. Came here a few times, meat is always too rare. Although waiters are fast, they are often overloaded and may forget about you for a minute. Not bad either.

Just had one of the worst meals of my life, this place segregates all the whites in a separate section of the restaurant away from everybody else not only did I get an overpriced meal absolutely horrible this place is extremely racist. I guess that's what this whole country has become

The food was really good . The waiter, Alex , was alright .he analyzed the bill after we paid . I asked for extra things and was ignored . The sangria was good , but the pitcher was broken . They never refilled us , we filled ourselves.

The service was a little slow to start. Had to flag down a waiter to take our order. The Rodizio was amazing, the meats were so tender and had so much flavor and it just kept coming. Sangria was great as well! Overall a great place, can be a little loud but it’s all part of the experience

Haven’t been here in many years . Exactly the same as I remember. Delicious!!! Only 4 stars on atomosphere because we were surrounded by a group of washroom women who couldn’t shut up and dropped f-bombs most of the meal. TOTALLY not Solars fault . Will be back for sure. Thanks

Such a great experience every time I visit this place, staff is awesome, honest and professional.

The food here was quite good. The servers were on top of everything. I had a party of 20 and they made sure that we got our food and drinks promptly.

While the food is great here and their rotisery unlimited meat keeps coming. But the staff was slightly difficult to communicate with having to be asked twice for certain things. The atmosphere was well designed evoking a Portuguese plaza with stone walls, clay tile roofs and a door to nowhere. The detail was good except no one does the keystones or lintels over openings anymore, but this generation and it's plasticity has abandoned all reality. That aside it was very pleasant. I think if the wait staff understood our requests a little better that would make us old white folks a little more comfortable, but this IS a Portuguese restaurant so I guess I should brush up on my Portuguese!!! A definite repeat place but be prepared to pay for the quality food. Much like a Brazilian rotisery is very similar to this, but I think this was better.

You tell them a certain time for pick up and you still have to wait another 30 minutes on a almost empty house.......

Went out for an anniversary dinner on Saturday, and we made a great choice. Food was on point, and the staff was very attentive. Parking was a little rough since it is located on a narrow street, but after having the rodizio, the extra walking was needed. Thank you for a great experience.

Went with a group of coworkers to celebrate. Chose the Rodizio for my entree after having garlic shrimp and fried calamari. The garlic shrimp was so delicious but I don't eat calamari. It was obviously good as there was nothing left. Other people had several different entrees but since I was eating meat, didn't really care 😁 I wanted the meat and boy did I get it.. I prefer rare steak and the different types of beef that was presented was indeed rare. Sausage, chicken, many types of beef, lamb, ham. there was so much meat , I had to stop them. There was additional rice, french fries and black beans that accompanied the meat. Plus to top it off they came out with grilled pineapple. Oh so good. Let's not forget the red sangria that was very tasty. I heard they have white sangria too All in all, it was a very satisfying dinner and I will be coming back Only issue is with the parking. There is a valet lot, but the attendant was not attentive and my boss who uses a cane had to park on the street while there were many spaces available in the valet parking. Everyone else found parking on the street

Place is ok but bad location. Not great parking. Food was just ok. The steak had too much fat. Not a good cut. The chorizo was burnt. Some of the seafood in the seafood pasta was overcooked. White sauce was more like a cream soup than sauce. Flan was awful. No vinho verde by the cup. Server never bothered to refill our sodas.

Garlic Shrimp appetizer to go. Rodizio there Heaven. Take the shrimp and free bread with you to go and heat it up at home where you can soak the bread in the spicy red sauce and make garlic shrimp sandwiches because you gotta have room for that all-u-can-eat-rodizio-meat at the restaurant!

To make a long story short, Our waiter, Alex (older bald male) completely ruined our entire experience. From rudely clearing our table, not checking up on us, annoyed because we asked for a dessert menu, to analyzing our paid signature receipts before we even put our jackets on to leave. Management team seriously needs to speak to this staff member.

I been told for yearS to come here and this was our second time .. the food its excelente, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere relax and enjoyable.. .omg the rodizio you really have to have the stomach for it . The octopus delicious!!! and let me tell you about the never ending Sangria pitcher, first time we order a large we had at least 8 glasses out of it . I have heard both great and not so great things about this restaurant and tried a few times to make a decision of my own. The rodizio is lacking. It’s somehow over salted and lacking in flavor/quality at the same time. The best cut was the Picanha but still over salted. Most of the other meats are too overcooked when I told the waiter I preferred medium rare. A lot of repeat options and the variety isn’t as stellar as other places I’ve tried. The “maduro” served with rodizio seems more like deep fried saba banana which was delicious but not typical plantain. The bread is delicious. The passion fruit sangria was strong and well crafted. The calamari was okay. Nice portion and taste was okay but the texture didn’t match ideal calamari. I have visited one other time and ordered the garlic shrimp. The taste was good but nothing special about it. I also ordered an octopus of sorts which was tiny chopped up pieces that felt lacking as well. The bathroom is a single stall and parking is challenging on a tight street.

Love this place, if you love Rodizio, you must try it, the sirloin on the tile is also amazing. Get the chorizo too! Sangria is amazing!

Solar is usually a great place with great service. I'm not sure why they were off today, but they were. First it started with not getting any rodizio even though tables to the left and right of us were served. We just sat there, making awkward eye contact with the people serving the meat. Then, we had requested water twice from two different people and never got it. We also requested 4 different kinds of meat, and even though we were told we'd get it, it never showed up. It got to the point where we sat there with nothing to eat longer than we had food served To us. I want to stress that the service is usually great but Tonight was not a good night. The food is great I definitely recommend checking them out.

I went there with a group. Clams oreganata, fried calama, mussels, and kielbasa appetizers were delicious. I had the steak entrée which was tender and perfectly cooked. I will definitely go back.

My friends and i were excited to try this place however the excitement lasted about 20 minutes into the meal. I will first start with the pros: the calamari was good and the sangria was delicious. The cons: numerous. The fish meal was a cesspool of food with bland fish. The meat was greasy and not flavorful. The filet was OK but the skirt steak was absolutely atrocious. Skirt steak should be thin and tender but it was truly disgusting, the octopus was absolutely horrible bland and had to be sent back. The best part of the meal was the bread. Never will come back.

Been to a bunch of these in the Ironbound section Newark. All those were very good but this place could possibly be the best one that I've tried so far. If not at least tied for the top. We did sit in the basement which is the only reason I gave it a 4 on that category. Wasn't bad because it was busy but I would've rather eaten upstairs. Otherwise All the grilled meats on the Rodizio were perfectly cooked. And the service was on point. Will definitely be back again. Nice Job.

Let me start out by saying the food was superb.excellent!!!! When we arrived with our table of ten. We sat in the lower level, and the smell from the mop and the food was not a good smell. The bathroom was dirty and I almost fell, because the floor was wet. The tall manager was NOT manager friendly at all. He didn’t greet us well nor did he check on us to make sure everything was ok, since we had a mix up on the count when we arrived. MANAGEMENT IS THE FACE OF THE RESTAURANT, AND HE WAS TERRIBLE!! You need more friendly management.

My wife and I went to this nice restaurant for our usual Friday dinner after work. The food was amazing, and the service was fantastic. We had a great time, except when the waiter accidentally spilled food on my pants. But it's all good. I don't want to be unfair and lower my rating for just that one thing. I'll definitely come back here for another round of delicious food and great service.

Came for picanha and it was horrible. Tasted like shoe leather and I had to ask for fresh. Rice and beans had no flavor either. Service was no good and never came to check on us for drinks or anything. We won't be back & very overpriced.

This restaurant is hidden from main street but is real gem. Food is delicious and service is amazing. The parking is a challenge but they have valet parking which is very convenient. Highly recommended. I had the grill octopus and it was a generous portfolio and cooked to perfection.

Tonight the wife and I ordered , Steak on the Tile. I had the Filet and the wife the Shell steak. Both cooked to perfection. If I could only eat the way I used to I'd be all over the all you can eat Meat. If you have never been here....make a reservation and enjoy the best food. OH ! Definitely order the Sangria. We placed an order via THEIR website and went to pick up the order at the time indicated on the website. When I arrived they knew nothing about the order and did not seem to care. Stating that their were only 2 orders for a later pick up. They finally found it in the system and said that it hadn't been prepared because no one saw it. Nothing was offered...not a glass of water, nor an apology. They seemed bothered for me questioning them about my order. I finally got my ordered that i was unable to cancel because I had paid on their website and they seemed unable to reimburse. Will definitely not be returning or recommending.

O sea, tuve q volver al lugar y cuando llego la muchacha se enojo cuando le dije q lo q había ahí no fue lo q ordene y ella de manera muy grosera y con tono de voz alto me dijo "ESO FUE LO Q PEDISTES" y yo le conteste bien claro q no, e incluso la otra persona q también había hablado con ella intentando q ella entendiera la orden le dijo "ESO NO FUE LO Q SE TE DIJO" ya q estábamos en video call... Rice was mushy, pork and potatoes were good but some of the potatoes were raw. On the other hand the bread was the star of the place.

One would figure a restaurant would lose a step or two and the quality would go down over the years, but nope, they just keep delivering wonderful food one time after the next. I’m glad to have Solar Do Minho so close. Its better than most places down neck without the aggravation of going there. Parking can an issue sometimes, but there’s a reason for it. Great food. The service is always great and the staff is always friendly. Good job guys!

I been trying to have my engagement party here. When I call no picks up and when they do finally pick up the phone they hang up on you. Manager told me to come in today to iron out the details and manager wasn’t even there. Horrible customer service. My family has been coming here for years. They have definitely went down hill. I will not spend anymore money and time here

My husband and i were out for our anniversary and this guy at the bar(tall latino type) was flirting with waitress and talking her ear off. We sat at a table in the area where the bar is. Then his date showed up and he turned into a monster. Being very mean and nasty to this woman and getting loud and degrading her. My husband agreed completely that this lady did nothing to get treated the way he was treating her. He ordered his dinner before she even showed up and then treated her with complete disrespect. He nearly ruined our anniversary and the woman he obviously invited to meet him left in tears and she didn't even do anything wrong. She stayed calm but we saw the pain in her being. She was a cute friendly little gal and he stared at the waitresses more than he even acknowledged her and his loud nasty mouth nearly ruined our anniversary...

Simply put it's a great portuguese restaurant with an optional Brazilian BBQ rodizio in NJ. Not cheap but it's worth it. Update June/2022: Place has become overpriced. Charged $40 for a pitcher of sangria. BBQ Rodizio has become expensive for what they have to offer. Only table taken on a Monday lunch time and maitre didn't come once to ask if everything was doing fine.
