This is the place to hang out near the airport and airport hotels. Great beer, great food trucks, and awesome patio to hang out on as the sun is setting and temps cool down. The inside is great too with lots of games to play and very friendly and attentive bartenders. I swung by the first day after a hotel mishap and in need of a beer, stuck around for a few hours and came back the next day!

Update: this SYB location is now Elder Son Brewing North! Glad there is still a craft brewery up there. Apparently this will be ESB’s main brewing location which is fantastic news since it increases the production capacity of there most excellent brews! It’s definitely a bit more quiet than SYB but I’m sure it will get more lively over time. Original: Top-notch service and brews. The food looks fantastic. We had the pretzel which I think was the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend stopping by.

Rating the beer as if it's food.

Such a weird place. The food is good and the beer is fine but, they keep bankers hours, don't accept cash. (CC only) and you have to get your own food from the food truck outside. I don't know what the "Technology fee" on my bill is for but, I will not be back to find out.

Checked this place out while in town for work. Great beer selection and the pizza was really good too!

This is a nice place for people who love to drink beer and grab some snacks while doing it. The bartender is very talkative and talented, she offers you a variety of different handmade beers according to your liking. We went very late that day so we couldn't grab any food, which is a bit bad. The atmosphere is like a canteen, which makes you feel in Texas.

My boyfriend and I finally decided to visit after we've passed this place so often. I'm so glad we stopped this time! The beer was absolutely everything and so was the food. We are pescatarian and the staff was more than accommodating; so personable and kind. I'm typically a home body but I believe I have a new place to frequent... and often.

We didn't try the food but the beer we tried was really good. The bartender was really friendly. Clean bathrooms. They had games. Good atmosphere.

Convinant located near the hotel I stayed, the place has a industrial atmosphere but in a good way, lot of friendly locals, good beer selection, good food, I enjoyed the pizza and friendly staff...

Amazing food and delicious beer.

Still has good craft beer but service has declined and food has gotten down to mediocre. Hours have been decreased and I'm not surprised. No real draw for fresh food and doesn't make sense to have just one server for a shift.

Good microbrewery. Glad to see something worthwhile along 1960 for a good drink. Very friendly folks behind the bar with suggestions. Daily food truck is convenient.

I haven't been here yet, I've been living in the area for about maybe 3 years now but after seeing all the reviews I'm most definitely going to check this place out.

Great beer and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We went on a Sunday and they did not have their kitchen open, which was disappointing. We ordered lunch from a list they provided of restaurants that would deliver guys GrubHub. This is a family friendly place. Did I say their beer was good? The beer was good.

This is a hard rating to determine and mostly it is the service, not the food or beer, that makes it 3 star. Nothing is cheap here. Cocktails and food are pricey. Beer prices are average. So you’d expect great service with the prices. Or at least service with some conversation or emotion, but not at all, in our experience. We live close by and have been meaning to visit for a while but it’s hard to justify the prices with the service being just odd and almost dismissive. We wanted it to become a neighborhood regular for us. But there was zero engagement. Our orders were taken and items were delivered in a timely manner and we were checked on from time to time, but there was zero interest shown by any of the 4 servers who we dealt with (someone brought our menus and she wore her purse/bag the entire time we were there and she served other tables but it seemed like she had her belongings and was ready to rush out the door at the end of a shift at any moment, our main server, and two others who brought our food). It was very take it or leave it. But we really, really wanted to love it! I wanted it to be a 5 star experience. The service was not. The food; however, was mostly fantastic. The wings were delicious. The buffalo sauce was very spicy (can’t imagine the habanero!) but not generic/bottled - awesome! Some carrots and celery offered with the ranch would be a very welcome addition to round out the plate and to make it look as well-rounded as the others. The pork belly was extremely tasty and we would get it again in a heartbeat. The spicy goat pizza was also really good - but zero spicy. Just tasty. Not sure what happened to the spice?? The margarita pizza was ok, but not great. It was a white pizza - no sauce, so that was a surprise compared to the many, many, many margarita pizzas we’ve had elsewhere. But that wasn’t a huge deal. The issue was that there was a ridiculously salty seasoning that was shaken over the pizza/tomatoes and you could see the salt with the naked eye. We used our napkin to wipe it off as many of the tomatoes as we could to make it more palatable. But it was an odd addition and ruined the pizza style that is famously all about the flavors of sauce/cheese/tomatoes/olive oil singing for themselves. At the end we had the skillet cookie dessert. It tasted fine and we had no complaints about it except that the person who brought it from the kitchen said absolutely nothing to us and just put it on the table and didn’t warn us about the insanely hot skillet straight from the oven. We expected it, but there was nothing protecting the handle or warning us, so it was a good thing we paid attention and expected it to be hot. We still ended up burning ourselves by not being careful enough! Just a note since there were several families with children there. We may or may not be back. The food was overall great. But for the prices they charge, we were expecting a bit more from the overall experience.

Every beer we tried was awesome. The Pale Ale was probably the best Pale I’ve tried in Texas. Pizza was great! The sauce is a bit sweet for my taste, but loved the crust and toppings of the two we got. Sweet and Spicy pepperoni was amazing. Juke Box Bingo was a lot of fun, we won a couple of prizes, although mixing up the cards each game so it’s not the same music over and over would be a huge plus. Love this place, and will definitely be back!

Food was delicious, hot on time and good portions. Service was horrible. It was our first time here and this girl with purple hair didn’t care to give us a menu until we requested one. She just pointed at the wall and said all the drinks are there. The reason I’m giving a 3 star is because Missy saved the day, she was polite and great personality. Thank you Missy 😊

They have alot of hops in their beer. So if your an IPA fan you will love it. The atmosphere is great and same with the staff. They are wonderful as well. Reason for the 4 stars. Wish they had some traditional wheat beers with not as much hops.

I had a great experience a few times. Now every time I go there they have multiple servers not doing anything, and no one would come to take my order. Makes me sad, because I do love this place. Not so much anymore.

Very cool vibe and bomb beer. Try the Rumachata, it's bottled so it will not be available in the flight. Oh, and they have flights.

Nice selection of beers in a casual setting. Had a very good cider and followed it with a hearty stout, called mole, mole, mole. Was with a group and based on others' comments, all the beers were good. The waitstaff was friendly and responsive. Sampled the pizza and pretzel bites and both were very good.

Cool and chill vibe with excellent food and a wonderful craft beer selection. Mixed drinks looked great too and I'll have to try them next time!

We love their IPAs, and the pizza is delicious. We especially enjoy the outdoor seating and dogs are welcome indoors and out. Sidney was wonderful during our last visit, very friendly and accommodating.

I commute for work, nearly every Friday on our way home. 15 minutes from IAH heading North. Urban outdoor atmosphere. Great beer variety and wood fired pizza. Das Brooke rocks our stay. Check it.

Brooke is fabulous! Southern Yankee is our favorite haunt. Brooke is our favorite server/bartender. Highly recommend. Pizza is delicious. Pretzel bites even more so. Beer variety is never disappointing.

Family owned very good place in the north area.

We visited four breweries this day, and Southern Yankee was voted best by our group. The vibe was chill, the beer was good, the service attentive but not oppressive. . We also enjoyed their food. The wings were great, but the Brussels sprouts were a bit too charred. The pizzas were good. . We really enjoyed our visit.

This is one of the diamonds in the rough. This will end up being a big deal brewery, no doubt. Happened on this place looking for a quick bite and ended up going a second night since it was such a great atmosphere and the beers were really great. Flavors were great since the beers weren’t high alcohol, just good taste. Wife approved beers here too! Wings are amazing! Met one of the owner’s and everyone was in a great mood. Very highly recommend! Get in there before it becomes a bigger deal than it already is! Thanks y’all!

Where did Cory go???? Been here several times. The food is fantastic but.... it is not consistent at all. Tonight our pizza was great but super small, the wings were great. But every time we order it's always different. Good beers. Patio heaters were out of propane 😒 please be consistent, in quality and quantity.

Good spot. Comfortable and nice atmosphere. We sat outside and had standing heaters nearby that made our visit pleasant. Didn’t get the food but it looked good. Beer was good as well. I’m not a big beer drinker but they had plenty of selection for your taste buds.

Beer was pretty good. Bunch of different styles. Food was also a high point. Do recommend.
