I was driving by Stillwell's and saw their sign from the main road as I was craving ice cream after an awesome hike for the day on Mount Major. I pulled into the parking lot area in front of Stillwells. First time here so wasn't sure on what I would be getting or what they even had to offer. They have a really cute open wooden shed-like area with a counter you stand at to give your order. There are a few picnic tables available as well. Well guess what they had my favorite ice cream which is Grape nut ice cream. This is hard to find and I was so happy I was actually going to receive what I really wanted and not an alternative. My Dad's favorite was Grape nut Ice cream and I guess that may be why I enjoyed it. Plus it makes me feel like my Dad is with me eating the Grapenut ice cream. The service was very good and the Grapenut ice cream was delicious! I did not have to wait long, they were courteous and kind. I would highly recommend a visit to Stillwell's Ice Cream in Alton Bay NH.

I am so excited to find Richardson ice cream up here in NH I loved it in MA at Skinners sugar house in EB and I have missed Bubble Gum ice cream so so much and here it is 🩷🩷 in Alton Bay !!! Along with Grape nut the best of both worlds!!! And watermelon sherbet ALL MY FAVORITE!!!!

After a hike on the Mt. Major trail, we were in desperate need of some ice cream, and this was the closest spot nearby. We headed straight there and were pleased to find plenty of parking and tables with a view of the lake and bay. As a local New Hampshire chain, they offered a variety of “New England” flavors like Maple Walnut and Maine Black Bear, along with some other fun options. I was especially happy to find a couple sherbet options, with the Orange sherbet being my favorite. The Maple Walnut and Pineapple flavors were also exceptional and worth trying.

Servings are huge! Richardson ice cream and lots of flavors. Line moved along quickly.

It was so good and delicious. Their cherry slushy was to die for and my daughter got a small and she loved it. Go check it out. It’s amazing amazing.

Getting it right here for years now. Always service with smiles. Fast and efficient. Happy to have you try anything you are interested in without pressure. Fair and reasonable prices. Great portion options. Always appreciate how one person handles monies while the crew behind handles the ice cream. Did I mention the smiles? Every time, every summer for years. The ice cream is delicious. Win win. Keep it up Stillwells!

DO NOT GO HERE! Ice cream was horrible, absolutely disgusting. It was not sanitary at all and there was mold in the coolers! No gloves and there hands were all over my ice cream. I do not recommend going here just go to the grocery store instead.

Very busy place, lines move fairly quick.

Great ice cream. Love the small shop. Love it being on the lake. Parking can get full. No handicap ramp but only 2 steps and I'm sure the girls can bring out the order if needed. The walkway is the parking lot so watch for cars but it's not bad.

Best frappes around and the fact they have jumbo sized is even better!

I don't know what is better - the delicious creamy scoops filled with lots of mix-ins and sauce OR the gorgeous location right next to the water on the bay. The store doesn't have any seating per se but there are LOTS of park benches, benches on the boardwalk and nice green grass..... all available for you to enjoy your fairly prices and generous scoops. As an FYI for those who care about such things (we consider it), they don't make their own ice cream but are a direct distributor of Richardson’s Farm in Massachusetts. Many many great seasonal flavor options (I would guess 30+), don't miss it!

Not my favorite ice cream place but definitely a top five for me. The ice cream here may seem a little bit on the pricy side but it is definitely worth it. The whole setup of the place is interesting with the counter taking up the whole doorway. My favorite ice cream to get here is the mint chip. (Always my go to)

Great place if you’re really craving some ice cream! HUGE sizes - even the “baby” size is more ice cream than you’ll need. Great selection of hard serve (no soft serve) and cool seasonal specials. You can also enjoy your ice cream on the bay and watch the boats come and go! The only downside to this place I can think of is the line, sometimes it can be very crowded here.

Delicious huge portions with an incredible view. No better place on a hot summer day.

Good ice cream, lots of flavors, friendly service. The best part is the scenic view. There are few benches and tables to the side, perfect place to sit, enjoy your treat, and view the lake.

It's okay. They were out of so many flavors listed and not crossed out to let customers know. Flavors are just average. The only good one is the German chocolate cake. I wouldn't come back again.

Fun, friendly and happy staff. Delicious, ginormous portions that are reasonably priced. We ordered small cones and that is what is in the picture! It is located right on the water. With a very large selection of flavors and menu items there is a sweet ice cream treat for all.

Best ice cream in Alton Bay…. Maybe anywhere. Huge servings and tons of flavors. Only ones to still have grape nuts flavor in the bay.

AMAZING! First time here, stopped by on a way back from a hike. I got the “baby” size which is one softball size scoop, more than enough ice cream.

Delicious ice cream in mass quantities. Will return when in the area again. It’s not a sit down type place, but there are places around nearby where you can. We just ate by our cars and took in the view of the bay.

My wife and I enjoy taking a stroll to the Bay after work for ice cream at Stillwells. Stillwells is perfectly located at the Bay by the water. The lines are usually long in the summer, but the girls behind the counter are friendly and move the line fast even when they're swamped. There's lots of flavors to choose from, and the ice cream is excellent!

Amazing ice cream! friendly service everytime, I personally have never had anything bad here and I try to make this a stop at least twice a summer! You want great ice cream with a healthy sized scoop this is it.
