They don’t start orders till you get there and then ignore you when you ask how long or pretend they don’t understand you so rude and unprofessional at this place WAITED OVER 30 minutes for a pick up order repeat PICKUP should’ve already been ready wasted a hour waiting on food that should’ve been ready just to drive home 30 minutes ruined my day with this one

First time there, won't be going back. Soups were horrible unable to eat 😢 Shrimp tempura was mostly oil soaked coating.

Went at 5pm, place was empty and took a min to be recognized. Tea was a cup only no pot, soup was not tasty and tried 2 types it was a water issue. Tempura was very greasy. Cowboy sushi roll was alright but overall a very unpleasant experience. Food was not quality

Worst dinner I have ever had at any Japanese restaurants! 17 of us were there for my aunts 70th birthday it was reserved with plenty of time we dropped off a cake early that day by myself and my son had some wine and some sake and me and my mother shared a plate of hibachi my son had hibachi chicken my bill alone was $114 for absolutely nothing there wasn’t enough food by the time he made it around the table in the grill there were four adults and a teenager and all of us got half a scoop of rice half a scoop of vegetables and couldn’t choose steak could’ve bounced it off the wall so my family probablyWas 17 of us probably spent close to $500 the service was terrible we would for Sushi and They forgot we were the only ones in there which I found very weird the last time we were there was about five years ago for another birthday and it was fabulous I paid $50 for what would’ve been one plate of food at any of the other hibachi Japanese restaurants in Brevard I’m sure you’ve all been to the other two well named restaurants and left with food we we didn’t even have food to take. Even if the quality of food was horrible it was just greasy rice it was no Japanese flavor or anything this was absolutely the worst meal I’ve had at a restaurant in my entire life they didn’t write down orders I just thought they were going to remember him very disappointing sure wish I could get my money back I will tell you we were the only ones there eating there were lots of DoorDash orders for sushi coming and going everyone who ordered a little bit of sushi loved it hibachi forget it don’t spend your money there. We all work very hard for her money I promise you do not waste your money at Sumo’s!

Kudos to the sushi chef here--the sushi really is the best in town. Their Godzilla roll is my favorite! I've eaten here dozens of times but am beginning to realize why this place is always empty... The service here sucks! On my most recent visit I brought a date here, ordered two entrees, an appetizer, and two specialty rolls. One entree was brought out without rice. I had to ask for every drink refill. We caught dirty looks from the waitress all night long. It made no sense. When I asked for the bill, she rolled her eyes and disappeared for 20 minutes. We were the only table during regular dinner hours and couldn't get help from either waitress. Guess they don't need any business ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Made reservations and wanted hibachi, got there they acted like we didn't have reservation even though I had the confirmation and wouldn't offer hibachi unless we were a large group

We had a great experience. We had hibachi chicken and shrimp. Soup, salad, chicken, shrimp, veggies, rice and noodles were all great. Love the music and peaceful atmosphere. Everything came out fast and fresh.

Honestly, sushi here is overall really good. Service was really good too. I know I've read other reviews complaining about service, but our server was juggling tables and carryout and did a great job. Only roll we didn't really think tasted up to par was the spicy tuna, on the other hand, the Rainbow roll was excellent. We also got appetizers and several other sushi rolls and we really liked our food. We're be back for sure.

I agree the employees are not very warm, however their food is top notch. We love the dinner bento box. You can choose whatever protein you want or opt for vegetarian. There is so much food! Their tempura, salad, soup and California rolls are the best! We travel about 30 mins to this place to eat and it’s worth it.

I would give 5 negative stars if I could! I ordered online through their site. It took 45min for 1 sushi roll and 1 sunomomo. The excuse was "we very busy". There were (2) two tops dining in, a door dash driver waiting on a small pickup (his order was 20min past due time) and one lady walking out with to go. To top it off, the photo of what the item is online is not what the actual item is. I ordered the spicy salmon and ita chopped salmon inside the roll. I called and they said that's how it's made and online doesn't have a photo. They are incorrect and have no idea what their website is even showing. The sunomono was completely flavorless. There are plenty of places to spend your money with better service and good food in this area.

The staff are pretty cold and uncaring here. I've eaten here twice. The soft shell crab is awful compared to other places. I got the dragon roll, which has avocado. It quite literally tasted like mildew. I really hope I don't get sick from eating here. I couldn't finish all my sushi. It's really a shame. The menu prices are high, the quality is poor. I don't know why their staff is always so bitter towards people.

We come here every week and the food is always amazing. The miso soup is delicious and the shrimp tempura roll is the best I’ve had anywhere. The tempura breading is perfect. Yakitori is also very good. Highly recommend.

I really love this place. I have been eating a lot more fresh food, I have ordered from several restaurants that serve sushi, fresh fish, there are several that literally cover their sushi in hot sauce, or serve most of their rolls on their menu tempora, beaded and fried, I really want to taste the fresh fish. I have come to wonder why they these other places cover such great product this way. I have found 3 restaurants that have great food, this is one of them. Remember ask other places to get the sauces on the side.

Really nice, quiet sushi place. Prices are competitive and it's some of the best sushi I've had around here. The bento box came with lots of food, and a variety of deep fried veggies.

What an amazing place! My wife and I stopped in for lunch. The atmosphere is calm and they were quick with service. We ordered the Bento Box lunch and the Three roll sushi lunch and were not disappointed at all. It came with miso soup and a salad. The fish in the sushi was fresh and almost “buttery”. Every piece of my Bento Box was to die for. I can’t recommend this place enough. Good prices, good food, good service.

The best Japanese food I've had in Brevard County. From their Sushi, Sashimi, Hibachi and Curry pork is especially one of my favorites 😋... Every dish I've tasted over the past 7+ years has been delicious. Highly recommend. 💖

I have been going for years. I love their sushi, fried rice, and hibachi. Teriyaki salmon and tempura fried vegetables. Gets better every year. Not for nothing, but their lunch menu is fantastic! Thank you sumo for many great meals.

Well it’s was my lady’s and my bday weekend. We had the whole family here to have a good time and make a memory ! The lady who seated us and serving us was such an unhappy person. She was cold and not friendly at all. It kinda was a downer as we were all in a good place . Our energy was 10 fold 🙏 She continued to act that way and my lady and I had a brief side bar conversation. We come to terms that we weren’t going to let her ruin our time with the family! The food was good and the chef was funny and talented. The place was clean and presentable. But the service was horrible. This lady needs to lighten up and respect that people are laying their hard earned money at her restaurant!! Thank god my lady and I aren’t challenged with being the bigger person. Oh and it was the best weekend ever !!

This is logistically the worst restaurant ever. In order to save money they never bring extra help and the wait times are so terrible. You wait over half an hour for a roll and mostly it reaches an hour or more than an hour. When you complain they have the same response that too many take out orders but they never tell you that it’ll take long when you place the order. Zero respect to customers. Just another Asian restaurant with terrible work ethic. Just drive another five minutes and go try the other options.

Volcano roll lacked flavor and not well built. Spring rolls are soft and mushy. I would expect them to be crispy. The hibachi was a solid 3 stars. For the price not worth it. The inside ambiance is date nice. The service is friendly.

Hidden in the plaza is a great hibachi and sushi bar . Never knew this place was here. Great rolls.. had the California roll with cream cheese and a bowl of misu soup. Will definitely be back.

So I went against my better judgement and I decided to try this place instead of my usual sushi place. I ordered the tuna roll. It tasted fine, but some of the pieces were not staying together and the rice to fish ratio was off. Also I felt it was a little pricey for the amount/quality of the food.

Cozy little Japanese restaurant. Great for a date night, business or family dinning. I've had several of the sushi rolls here and each one has tasted fresh and delicious, my favorite the Godzilla 🐲

Ordered takeout via their website on a Sunday night. Site confirmed receipt of the order but never updated to "WIP" or "Complete" after that; had to call to confirm. Sushi was pretty sad, every piece falling apart and spilling its contents, the tuna was particularly tough and chewy. Side salad was almost exclusively composed of the bitter white parts of iceberg lettuce. Gyoza were the best part of the experience and the only reason for the second star.

Just had the “three stooges roll” and a hibachi chicken dinner, both great, the roll was one of the best sushi rolls we’ve ever had, ever!

I ordered delivery from this place to try for the first time. I was delivered so quickly! Very fresh and it was beautiful to look at too! •I got the beef negimaki. This was also a first for me but I’ve heard so many great things! Sadly I wasn’t a fan, it tasted oddly enough like beef and broccoli but I don’t think it was prepared bad, I just don’t think I’m a fan. So I am the problem here lol •I also got the Hidden Dragon roll and it was delicious!! Absolutely one of the best rolls I’ve had in a while! Crunchy panko, delicious roe, fresh and butter eel and salmon. YUM!! I will absolutely be getting this again soon!

So we eat here a lot but after our service last night I feel like maybe the owner would like to know exactly how bad their service was. First off, we get the same chef each time and he is absolutely wonderful. All of the chefs here are, but their waiters/waitresses are terrible and last night the guy who appeared to be the manager wasn’t much help. The waitress contributed to spilling my entire sweet tea all of over me while handing me my salad bowl. After being soaking wet she continued to hand out salads instead of offer me any napkins. I had to ask for another drink as well. Then at the end we had to ask 3 times to get our check and no one seemed t be able to accommodate us. This took over 20 minutes to get a check and when it finally came it was for the whole table! They sat all 3 of our parties at different times! Then it took more time to actually get our check right and get change. It’s really sad that we eat here a lot and the service was this terrible. And this wasn’t an issue of being short-staffed. There must have been 6 employees standing around like they didn’t know what to do.

Great place for a Bento Box This is located in the Publix shopping center on the Northeast corner of the South Patrick Drive/Eau Gallie intersection. Getting to the shopping center is easy from come directions but challenging from others. Once you arrive, there is plenty of parking for all the stores. This restaurant is one of 3 in the shopping center, each catering to different tastes. It is located in the center is near the Pet Supermarket store. Like most stores in the center it has a thin but long area. There are at least 2 u-shaped hibachi tables but I have not seen them used lately. There are several booths and tables and a sushi bar at the back of the restaurant. We entered through the door and were immediately seated at a booth. Their menu was rather extensive with lots of choices. We came at lunch and ordered a salmon bento box and a Chicken bento box. The miso soup and salad came out immediately and were very good. We ordered green tea. The boxes came out within about 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was clean and the food was excellent. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I would highly recommend for anyone wanting a good Japanese meal in the area.

Great food; swift, friendly, and fun service

I wanted to love this place and I was so craving sushi. But I got a to-go order of a variety of nigiri and the tuna tasted like someone had rinsed it out. It was like a watery weird texture. I couldn't even finish it. I gave the place 3 stars though because everything else was decent - just not spectacular.

Great Covid precautions as plywood at door allowed for easy pick up but kept us separate to reduce Covid risk. Really appreciated. Shrimp tempura and California roll and spicy tuna roll were good.

I came here back last year and decided to try it for lunch with my significant other. I have to say, this is BY FAR the BEST Japanese around. Convenient and local, it provides a family atmosphere and great food. I always get the hibachi chicken and friend rice. Yummy!!

Absolutely amazing the fish was fresh and came in thick cuts. It was a great experience and I would definitely come back.

The food there was EXCELLENT and the staff was friendly. For a couples night out I'd suggest the sumo boat for two, fills both of you up without draining the funds.

The food was....ok. Unfortunately my sushi died in the window for 20 minutes. It just sat there as it was ignored by the staff. The Katsu was bland and dryer out. Yakitori was chicken kabobs slathered with some kind of sauce slathered on when it hit the plate. Overall, you can get better for less.

Been here many times over the past few years and I've enjoyed every single meal. Our favorite is the Bento Box at lunch. So Much Food!! I love the shrimp and chicken tempura - so tender and fresh. I've taken numerous friends here and now they just keep going back!! Servers are friendly enough - food takes a bit but that's because it's being made fresh and it shows. It's a small place and kinda dark but we go for the delicious food - not the atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend take out with Tempura - it gets soggy and tastes greasy. It's best when its hot and fresh.

Had a good experience here. Fast service for 4 JB rolls. While the rolls were small width-wise, they were heavy on the fish, and said fish was nice and fresh. Also was gluten free. People were friendly as well. Definitely get a thumbs up from us!

Smaller establishment but accommodates a decent amount of people. We didnt do the habachi table as that's not really our thing but it did look entertaining for sure. Service was wonderful and the food came out rather quickly. My son is a picky eater and he found something he really liked (Tempura Shrimp). Great overall experience
