Inedible garbage food. If this is authentic Mexican, then Mexican food is bland and flavorless. I know that's not the case. This was a disgrace to Mexican food.

We just have tried the Azada, Al pastor, torta de Azada, and the nachos. And I would say they were alright it seems like our meats weren't seasoned well enough or no season at all maybe it was due to the fact they were backed up that day plus only one cook working everything. Own by a family which is a really good plus on top of that they are really nice and polite it's just to bad that our batch of food didn't come out right but it's ok will give them another try soon enough. Hopefully, they are less stress out and stretch out thin so they can deliver better food. Can stress enough very very nice people no excuse for mediocre food though.

My wife loved her chicken mile but I was disappointed by the carne asada dinner plate, the beans and rice that came with it were just ok. I liked the place but there are better Mexican places around.

I'm from San Antonio, Texas. Back home, we celebrate Christmas eve with a traditional Mexican meal of Tamales, Spanish rice and beans. I was so happy to find Taqueria Lupita to keep my family and cultural tradion alive. I've pre-ordered tamales multiple times and they are always so delicious! Thank you!

Great food. Got the tacos and tostadas al pastor and they were phenomenal. Avocado, tomato, lettuce cheese, beans. So good. Will definitely go again. The owner was also very nice!

I live in California but I come out to Rhode Island for work for long periods of time. So far this restaurant has been the closest to Mexican food that I've eaten in Rhode Island. I would give a five star rating if they had more of a variety to drink. As in horchata and things like that.

This place is a hidden gem on Dexter Ave. super authentic and humble- if you want Mexican and are in the Lincoln/Pawtucket area find this place. I’ve been a frequent flyer here for a long time- highly recommended.

Love an authentic restaurant, run by family. Good food, nice owners, downright casual with no bells and whistles. The Mexican soap opera may be on the tube, the grandchild is playing in the dining area and the owner's may eat at the table beside you. I was just getting over a headcold and few hot tamales and their spicy chicken soup help soothe it away! Come and enjoy while supporting a community, family-run establishment.

Bright and tangy salsa verde comes served in a volcanic stone molcajete with hearty tortilla chips (and reappears in a dish of lengua). The dried chiles practically sing in the salsa roja (tried with enchiladas), the best I’ve had since traveling to Oaxaca, and the masa tortillas are earthy and soft. Friendly and hospitable proprietors. Reasonable prices. Looking forward to returning!

Tied for first place with Garibaldi's for my favorite Mexican food north of the border, Lupita's is superb! A small, inviting place on a bustling street, Lupin's food is always delicious. Everything is super-yummy, but make sure you try the tortilla soup, the fish tacos, and especially the chicken in pumpkin seed sauce: it's out of the world. Fun and friendly, the owners/cooks really know what they are they are doing. Go soon!

The best Mexican food I ever had. It is a little slow but that is ok. They are making everything fresh. I watched them cut up all the ingredients. Very fresh!!!!

Good food, good service, very nice family

Wow - I'd heard good things about this place several times over the years but hadn't gone. What a mistake - the food is really good. I *loved* the premium soft tacos I had with pulled pork and green salsa were amazingly flavorful. The crispy tacos were also quite good. It's a simple place, but friendly and satisfying. You order at the counter, sit down somewhere, and wait for your number to be called to get your food. I'm already looking forward to my next meal there.

The Tacos are excellent, the flavor is very authentic, the owners are very friendly and warm! The mole sauce is very good, the selection of different types of meat for the tacos is extensive. My wife and I really like this place. Highly recommend!

This was our first time at Taqueria Lupita and it definitely won't be the last. As a bit of a background, I have lived in Texas and Southern California and have traveled into Mexico, so I am no newby to Mexican cuisine. This is a small family run operation, Mom was cooking and son was serving. Service is slower than in most Mexican restaurants and that is the key point. All the dishes are cooked when and as ordered and not as in a pre-cooked assembly line of enchiladas. The Guacamole was terrific. As a main dish, I had Chile Relleno which was covered by a wonderfully tasting sauce. Home made tortillas were served with the meals. Beer and wine are served, but no hard liquors. The Sangria is also home made and is highly recommended. If you like Mexican food, Taqueria Lupita should be your next stop.

The food was absolutely delicious when it arrived. For our appetizer we ordered the nachos, which took a bit too long and we considered sending them back if they were brought out too close to the main. We didn't send them back, which was probably a good idea because the dish was wonderful! However, too cold! Asked about that and were told that they were cold cause of the toppings (I think not!) The mains were great! We absolutely enjoyed everything, our party of 3. The portions were generous and could easily be shared, especially after the appetizers. Everything was fresh and delicious. I'm glad we went here, especially since this was not our original intention and we just kind of got lost and ended up here!

Homemade sauces, including (in summer) home-grown ingredients. The location is sketchy, the decor is minimal, and not every entree hits the mark, but the good dishes are outstanding, the ambience is friendly, the recipes are at once original and authentic -- Oaxaca & Veracruz style -- and the prices are fair. Go for the basics: guacamole, chile rellenos, enchiladas.

We ordered a little bit of everything. Each plate had its own flavor. The seasoning and sauces vary to create a delightful gamut of Mexican flavors. I say this because many restaurants throw the same sauces and seasonings on each plate and call it Mexican but this place stands out for its variety. On the other hand, my son loves to get burritos and tacos to go. Call ahead for to go so you dont have to wait.

I'd heard so much about this little place that I had to try it for myself. Very pleasant, kind staff. This is not counter-service -- It is table service. I had the fish tacos. Simple, no frills, and delicious. One dining companion had beef tacos. She reported that they were excellent. These are soft, homemade corn tortillas. I don't think they make hard tacos, but I'm not sure. Another in our party had a veggie burrito. Good lord. It weighed at least a pound and a half. All good! The guacamole was fresh and fabulous. Yum. The bill for 3 for lunch (including 1 soda) was $24. We will be back!

The other reviewer had it right, this is a hidden gem short on looks and long on good food. Red and green salsas both hot and tasty. Corn tamales authentic and perfectly made. If you know Spanish it can help with communicating with the staff, but we got it figured out. By default they put lettuce in the burrito which caught me off guard, but I ended up liking it. I am going heavy with a 5 star rating, but I am willing to overlook decor/round up.

I've been frequenting Taqueria Lupita for well over 5 years now and what immediately comes to mind when I think of them is, "This is the best Mexican food in Rhode Island." The restaurant itself is small, dim, and in a questionable neighborhood but the food makes it all worth it. I do not personally know the family that operates this restaurant but I've always seen the same faces serving and preparing the food and have always found them to be pleasant people, very warm & inviting. Communicating with them is sometimes challenging as it is obvious that Spanish is the first language of the older couple that is always there but they're never rude and always find a way to communicate effectively, even if it's just by pointing things out on the menu to make certain of your order. The food itself is unquestionably the best authentic Mexican food in Rhode Island. Other restaurants pale in comparison to the quality and value of Taqueria Lupita! They have a burrito that is literally the size of a football for less than $10. The carne asada has incredible flavor. And they serve the best black beans I've ever tasted. I always save room for the flan for dessert because it has just an incredible smoky caramel flavor that can only be accomplished when homemade. I would gladly give this place 5 stars but I've given it 4 because the restaurant's overall atmosphere (from not having a parking lot to outdated furnishings) could be of concern to some people but if I were to judge on food alone there wouldn't be enough stars in the world! I'll continue to visit this establishment and bring friends and family with me as long as they are in business and serving such incredible meals for such reasonable prices. And I've never had a complaint from anyone I've taken there once they tasted the food. My only wish is that they would open a location closer to my own house.
