For such a high end restaurant, the food was good, but for me not amazing. The service and atmosphere more than made up for it. Pricing was very high for what you get, again, really good but not your socks off.

Very great Mexican food authentic

I attended the restaurant for first time on 1/21/2023. It was to celebrate my grandson's 14th Bd. The food, drinks, and service were outstanding. The problem came when time to pay. I gave the waiter my credit card. He returned stating it was declined. I just received the card and it was activated. The available balance being $1k. Can we respond "embarrassing". Well it caused to use a card I didn't want to use. Then made haste on Monday to adjust my account nothing would bounce. My credit union informed me that the waiter attempted to use the tap feature twice and it came up as declined. I was then asked why didn't he use the chip? I was instructed to contact the restaurant and see if they had that capability. I have been attempting to contact them only to hear recording that says if you want a call back after 3:30 PM I pressed the number then was cut. I will return to this restaurant but will bring cash only. My family was not pleased and it was their first time also.

Do yourself a favor, sit at the bar with Dan. You'll get THE tequila tasting experience of a lifetime! We went for restaurant week but were blown away but the abundance of some of the best tequilas youll ever find! Also make sure to get the tortilla soup! Their presentation of it is fabulous! The star of the restaurant week menu was the steak / shrimp Entrée plate. Shrimp so large they taste like lobster, steak cooked to perfection! Will be back for sure!

We went to Tequilas for NYE dinner and it was worth it. We love food and service. The server was helpful. I ordered veggie taco and it was wonderful and chicken dis was yum as well. We got disappointed with tres leches and churros as churros tasted not fresh. Overall, great place for dine and wine, casual dinner with cocktails but desserts aren’t good so won’t recommend that.

The service here sucks! The manager/ owner David is very rude and unprofessional.David has very poor customer service skills and very bias towards woman.our service was rushed and the price for the amount of food that was given is horrible. The water taste horrible. the workers seemed very rushed and exhausted by David while providing service to customers.the employees were very accommodating and helpful, that is the only reason I gave One star.

$35 entré and $23 drinks, and they charge extra for a second tiny basket of chips? Okay.

Definitely not traditional Mexican food. Chips were thick and overcooked, no typical queso, quacamole tasted store bought and plae was extremely loud. Margarita was very good.

Tequilas was recommended to us by a few people, so we had high expectations. Sad to say I left very disappointed in the food. The restaurant itself is large and the atmosphere is nice. Service was also good. But the food just had no flavor. I had the enchiladas de playa and was amazed at how bland it was. From the seafood to the tortillas to the sauces and cheese, it was just dull. I would recommend going to one of the many Mexican restaurants in South Philly for dinner instead.

Attentive staff, delicious food, great cocktails. Tres leches cake was incredible! It was a bit too loud for easy conversation but it was a good time nonetheless.

We were a party of nine, who had reservations last Friday night. We were seated right on time, after wonderful greetings from the staff. Hubby enjoyed a Bourbon Manhattan and a beer. Three friends shared a pitcher of margaritas, and they raved about them! A shout out to our server Alex, who went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We enjoyed these: Caesar Salad, Fish Tacos, Chicken Tacos, Queso Fundido, Chiles Rellenos. I loved the Tortilla Soup! It was a real deal meal—great food and service.

Great Authentic Mexican Restaurant. We sat outside - staff was very willing to please. We asked to be outside and it was a very pleasant evening so we asked that the awning be opened, they where very quick to accommodate. The outdoor booth seating is so cozy and private - just wonderful for all seasons. All food we got was very good including the margaritas! Dinner for 4 was $250 which is a bit high but you are in the city and prices are on the rise! We had a wonderful evening and highly recommend!!

The bar is amazing! I had dinner and drinks at the bar and the bartender was very knowledgeable. I wasn’t in the mood for any cocktails on the menu so I told the bartender what I was looking for and he made me a few drinks that were delicious! The service was exceptional.

Great place, best jalapeño margarita in the whole city. Ask for Dan if you want to submerge yourself in the mezcal and tequila world, cause their shelf is packed with artisanal stuff and they are full of knowledge about it

I was surprised since this place has good reviews, so it pains me to write this. I'd understand if 1 dish was off, but all 3 of my courses were very disappointing. The Pescado al Mango was hard to get through. My friend who tried it spit it out. The Tequitos de Pollo were lukewarm. Their chocolate mousse cake tasted of supermarket quality. Honestly the best thing I ate was the complementary chips and salsa.

This restaurant is ok, but not 5 stars. The margaritas aren't made fresh, they come out of a tap. The food was not flavorful, definitely lacking intense flavor you expect from a latin restaurant. Service was ok. Would not go back here. The ambiance was nice and the place is clean, but definitely not up to what i expected based on the 4.6 star rating here. Overall its good, not amazing

I was happy to get back to one of my favorite spots in the city this past weekend.  We were going to see a show at the Academy and this was a perfect location to grab a bite to eat, a few cocktails, and then head to the show. My wife had never been and it had been a few years since I was there so I was hoping it was as good or not better than I remembered.   And it was just as it has been.  Service is always top-notch there and there are so many wonderful dining areas inside the restaurant. As it was early in the evening they sat us in the bar area which is nicely decorated. They go all out on the decor, and there is a lot to see and take in.  You always get some chips and salsa to start things off, and they are very tasty.  Some pico de gallo and some salsa to mix things up. We started with the Queso fundido with chorizo and man that cheese is tasty.  And ooey and gooey.   The flour tortillas were soft and warmed up nicely.  This was a great way to start things off. I tried a couple (4) of their cocktails and loved each one.  Two I can name, are the Colina and the margarita diablo.   I like a spicy drink and told our waiter this, and he said "Hold on, I have something for you".    I wish I knew the name of them but always ask the staff and they can make what you are looking for. My wife went with the chicken enchiladas, and I chose the enchiladas de playa with shrimp, lobster, and crab.  They were so good.  The sides were great too, including their refereed beans and rice. We needed to try the churros for research purposes to see how they compared to the best in the world (in the One and only resort, CSL), and they were great a close second. All in all a pleasurable meal and a great start to a Friday date night.

Went for happy hour. This place did not disappoint!! Service was excellent. Great food and drinks. Spicy marg had deep jalapeño flavor which I feel like I don’t normally get from other spicy margs. Was pleasantly surprised. Forgot to take a pic of the guac before digging in. I will say this portion was definitely small. Beef in tacos were tender and flavorful. Nachos were on point. Loved the refried beans! FYI nachos are only on happy hour menu. Will be back!

This was one of my favorite spots in Philly to grab authentic Mexican food. The prawns are literally out of this world. I highly recommend ordering this and look forward to returning.

Great spot for Mexican - went for work dinner but we ended up sitting at the bar which was great as they have an amazing bartender … made a great mezcal margarita Had the chicken mole for dinner along with chips and guacamole - great homemade hot sauce

Delicious upscale & authentic Mexican cuisine, excellent service by our waitress Cordy and nice outdoor seating (very nice but a little noisy indoor). Excellent barman, Oscar, who prepared my favorite Mezcal Tequila.

As someone who lived on Southern California for almost 10 years, I'm selective about my Mexican food! Tequila's is a must if you're looking for quality fine-dining Mexican cuisine. The molè here is superb; I lick my plate clean every time. And the drinks are delicious and packed with a punch. The staff is also always super friendly and helpful.

A lovey restaurant with plenty of tequila. Met the owner and even made new friends. I only had chips and salsa (which was very good) as I had eaten dinner elsewhere but only came foe drinks. Great staff, great service, great menu.

Fabulous dinner! Everything was great, from the weather, the service, the food, and the drinks. The grouper with the guacamole and mango sauce was heavenly.

Went there for the first time and it definitely didn’t meet the expectations. I chose the place cause I saw a pretty good rating and it was on the list of the recommended places to eat in Philly somewhere online. My friends had mentioned that it was expensive but they didn’t say that the price was not worth it (I’m gonna tell them to be honest with me next time 😃). We got ceviche, guacamole, tacos and a seafood entree. Everything was ok but not wow. Tacos were not great cause the beef was hard and chewy. Drinks were again ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was pretty good though my comment about the beef was ignored (might have been too loud in there). The room we were sat in (not the one with a bar) had some interesting elements of decor but didn’t really have a nice vibe, the most unpleasant thing was the bathrooms though. I can’t speak of the men’s restroom and I didn’t ask my boyfriend but the women’s bathroom was pretty dirty (paper on the floor, 1 sink clogged, no soap in 2 out of 3 sinks) and felt like it needs some remodeling (toilet seat coming off, huge gap in stall walls). Honestly it just wasn’t the place I wanted to keep eating and drinking at - we left pretty fast and went for a drink somewhere else.

Best authentic Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia. Their food is cooked to perfection and the tequila selection like no other. It felt like home.

I used to like Tequilas Restaurant. The first time, which was around 3 years ago, food was excellent, taste, quality, presentation. etc., that time I enjoyed a Molcajete Especial. Great selection. The, about 3 moths later, we decide to have dinner again and asked for the same dish, this time the quality was way inferior. I tried to understand the difference and I was told that the previous time I had the "Especial". Something that the menu doesn't explain. Anyway, I have come over a couple of times more during the pandemic, I was partially satisfied with the food quality, main disappointing aspect is that is coming from plus to minus. Last Saturday, 4/16/2022, we came over again and had a dish which includes a slice of tenderloin, avocado sauce and some vegetables. It was very poor served, and the beef was dry and very hard to chew. My wife has the Enchiladas playa, which are made of flour tortillas rolled with crabmeat, shrimp and lobster, topped with melted chihuahua cheese, served in creamy sauces. We didn't find any lobster, mostly crabmeat but very small quantity. Flavor was disappointing compared with a previous time. Regarding service, we don't have complains. It has been always good. Please, improve the quality, specially the beef you used. Also, include sauces with several level of hotness.

Best place for authentic Mexican in center city.

Had a previous dining experience and found the food and service and atmosphere to be terrific. Not tonight. Service was mediocre. Food even less so. Simple enchiladas were poorly prepared and tasteless. Atmosphere? Was seated in the large back room that has been cramped with tables. Decibel level was well north of 80. Had to yell across the table. All for $300 for two couples. Never again.

Visiting from Texas, we were desperately looking for authentic Mexican Restaurants & came across this one on Google. We walked in during their Saturday night dinner rush & were told the restaurant was completely booked & could not be accommodated. We must have looked super sad because a gentleman came over and asked us to wait a few minutes to see if they could find us a table. We didn't wait more than about 10 before they were able to seat us. From beginning to end, the immaculate service was something We rarely experience & will never forget. Our server, Tony, was so incredibly attentive, polite, & great with recommendations. Being from Texas, You can find decent Mexican food on almost any street corner, but this restaurant was probably the best, TRULY authentic, fine Mexican dining We have ever come across. We look forward to another trip to Philly to be able to enjoy a dinner here again. Highly recommend.

Casual attire and the interior detail is great. Nice for a casual date night with the semi low lighting. I sat at the bar and ordered a refreshing Rose' margarita. The queso is very good. My steak and prawns was also good. Customer service was great. If you sit at the bar ask for Max, made very great recommendations.

Received great service and selection from this restaurant. I tried the Molcajete de Pollo lava bowl, Enchiladas Seafood Playa, and a drink. The flavors were great and the servings were super filling! Not too spicy either. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice Mexican spot in Philadelphia.

I wish I could pay Google to give this review more than 5 stars. My first time here and the service was outstanding. Servers bringing me drinks over on their heads and by the smalls of their fingers. A girlfriend and I came here for some apps and margaritas. We were checked on by the servers often (and it was really busy too!) the food was great, margs were insanely good (got hella drunk off of 3) and the atmosphere overall was great. I cant wait to bring more friends here!!

If you visit Philly, you must go to Tequilas for lunch or dinner. The menu is limited but so delicious that I have no problem getting the same 2 or 3 things every time. The atmosphere is unique and the Enchiladas Playa are incredible. The Tequilas Margarita with mango juice is my favourite drink.

I stopped in for a quick drink with my girlfriend tonight and ended up staying until close. We had some wonderful conversation with David, who made fantastic recommendations, and we enjoyed every tequila that we tried. I already have reservations to come back for dinner next week - it's such a hidden gem in Philly, you are not going to want to skip it! EDIT: Google asked me to update my review, so here I am. It's still 5 stars and I still highly recommend it! Everything about the establishment has only improved over time and the renovations are stunning. I have eaten here a handful of times since my first review and I can safely say that the high quality of ingredients has been extremely consistent -- I have not had a single bad dish here and I'll fight anyone who says that another restaraunt has better enchiladas.

We had a surprise birthday dinner/party at tequilas last night and it was amazing! Everyone could not stop raving about how great the food was!!! The service was bar none! The servers did not skip a beat and was on top of every little detail! I wish I knew their names! I could not recommended a better restaurant for food, service, ambience, everything! Big shout out to Dan and the tequilas team for making it an unforgettable night!!!

This was my first experience with my partner here and it was great! AMAZING service from our server alex!! he had lots of enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu !(i think that was his name) atmosphere is awesome, drinks are probably some of the best drinks we have had anywhere in the city, we tried 3 different ones ! food was mediocre, we were expecting better but great presentation! we came for restraunt week and we will definitely be back for the delicious drinks and to try a different entree course !!

Decent food, great atmosphere. Servers are great. Had the Enchiladas with mole sauce and carne asada. I was not a fan of the their mole sauce, too bitter with no sweet or spicy taste. Too expensive for what you get. Highly recommend their steaks! The margaritas were strong and tasty! Would go back for the margaritas only.

Honestly this is one of the best restaurants in the area… from the reservation stage, you feel welcome. When you walk in they make you feel like home. Alex is the best server there, with an excellent human touch. Oscar the Manager is simply the best! I will recommended this Gourmet Mexican Restaurant with no reserves.

Outstanding, delicious, creatively combined tastes. Great and attentive staff. It is a noisy place. Our experience was with a nice table next to an obnoxious, boisterously loud bunch of women. We requested another table, and found another, much quieter one in another section of the restaurant. Lesson learned; don't accept a table where you are not comfortable and happy.

First time here and wow!!! This place is so good. Had the jalapeño margarita, pollo tacos and topped it off with the tres leches. 10/10!!

Came for restaurant week and I was impressed! Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. I got surf and turf and the steak was mildly over done than my preference but still tender enough, shrimp were perfect! The homemade chips and dips were good and the salad was basic but their dressing really made it. Also I was disappointed the tres leches wasn’t available but the chocolate mousse cake was an adequate substitute. Also our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to try their full menu next time. Their drinks are pricy but the rose margarita was worth it.

Food is delicious. Service was outstanding. Our waiter was a bit intrusive , boundaries lol, but he was so funny it didn’t matter.

The food and drinks here are phenomenal. My girl went with the rose petal margarita which she tells everyone about whenever she talks about her fav marg while i got a Mexican lager. The best thing on the menu is the quesofundito with chorizo. Making yourself a cheese roll up brings me back to my childhood except this is an adult version with a hell of a lot more flavor. We did do restaurant week this time. Where we got the tortilla soup and pollo next was the steak and shrimp with rice and refried bean and for dessert churros. I absolutely love this place it's definitely pricey but for a good reason the ambience of the entire place is phenomenal.

Came all the way from NYC on the recommendation of a friend! The entire meal was spectacular! Our server Tommy was perfect and friendly and was superb in our mezcal recommendations! Will definitely be back!

One of our favorite spots to eat in center city. We used to live a block away but now we are 9, but it’s worth the walk. The staff is great, even now with a two year old with us. They kept him entertained and didn’t even need the iPad. Ha. The drinks and food are equally fantastic.

The passion that the owners and employees have for their craft, products, and service shines through and really makes a trip here an experience, not just a dinner. Everyone in Philly who is a fan of high quality food, amazing spirits, and friendly staff needs to go to Tequilas. Make sure to try the Siembra brand agave spirits while there-- they're delicious and smooth, are made sustainably, and the owner of the restaurant started the brand!* The Suro family is wonderful and they run an amazing restaurant. Amazing selection of tequila and mezcal, delicious food, and impeccable service. The prices are also very fair for the location of the business and the quality of the products. My partner and I went two weeks in a row and are going to be making this a regular date night place!

Tequilas is IMO a try once. Food is overpriced but it was good. Drinks as well are overpriced but good. The servers were amazing, very attentive, and friendly. Food and service were good but nothing made say, “ I need to return”.

The atmosphere is lovely, the staff incredibly friendly, the drinks amazing and the food heavenly. Went with a group of four - each of us ordered different things and all of us ran out of adjectives to described how magnificent the food was. And, pro tip: order the Queso Fundido as an appetizer. You won't regret it (well, I guess unless you're allergic to any of the ingredients)

This is only the third time I've been here, which is sad since I've lived in Philly for 14 years. I need to put it in my rotation more. Excellent food, great cocktails, and fantastic service. The food is a little pricier, but good quality. Our server, Luca, was friendly and efficient. We also had Oscar, who helped us when we decided to do a tequila tasting. He was so enthusiastic when describing the different types of tequila, and made sure to provide a good experience. It was a great, random fun thing to do!

Great service and good ‘higher end’ Mexican restaurant.

Everything I have ever tried here has been delicious and well prepared. A Philly favorite and my favorite Mexican restaurant. Last time I had the ceviche and the Pescado al Mango, which was cooked to perfection, and absolutely divine, bursting with flavor. They were able to modify it to make it gluten free and the dish was still perfect. They also have a stand out tequila selection which will be pleasing to the most discerning connoisseur. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, or it may be difficult to get in without waiting.
