This place is awesome good food and service. Hard real ice cream. Very clean restroom. I will make this my Amherst stop from now on.

Had the santa fey salad special today. It was DELICIOUS 😋 Think about adding this to menu. Would be GREAT 👍

First timer here at the Amherst Corner Restaurant and what a great choice on our drive back to Richmond from Roanoke after a conference. Our server Kim made some great suggestions and she was super friendly. Cowboy Beans were excellent and so were the hush puppies…heck everything was super tasty! We always love to stop at smaller, family owned places in all of our driving adventures. If you are like us and want a great place to rest and grab great food as you are motoring through on 29, I encourage you to stop!

When was the last time a waitress asked you if she could get you a complimentary drink for the road? Wonderful little restaurant with exceptional American comfort food. The people are gracious and welcoming. Try the Robo sauce and bring a bottle home!

The employees were really kind here! I didn't actually order anything but just stopped in to see if they had some dairy-free ice cream. The answer is no, sadly. I just wanted to make sure to put it out there, and hopefully, someday, they get some dairy-free options :)

I have Alpha-Gal. I was amazed at all of the choices I had . My server let me know that I was able to have grilled shrimp with mango also. I added collard greens cooked with turkey and a side salad. It was all delicious.

I pass by this restaurant several times a year. Last night I was on the way home after a long day at a JMU orientation. I wasn't looking forward to cooking so I decided to stop and give Amherst Corner Restaurant a try. The food was absolutely perfect. I had the chicken salad sandwich and cold slaw. Among my 3 children, they had chicken tenders, a hamburger, mashed potatoes and gravy, and french fries. The service was also wonderful. Our waitress, Kimberly, was very attentive, accommodating, and personable. To top off our wonderful experience, Kimberly let me know that the couple who had been sitting across from us earlier, paid our bill. If they ever see this review, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You don't realize how much of a blessing this was for us. ❤️

My husband and I were just passing through town on a long trip from New Jersey back home to North Carolina. We stopped in for dinner and had a wonderful experience! The restaurant was clean, the food was delicious and Kimberly, our server, had a delightful personality and sense of humor. She was friendly and efficient. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. There was a wide variety to choose from on the menu. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his barbecue sandwich and french fries. I loved the chicken fingers and side salad. I would have to say my favorite part was the chocolate milkshake!! We will definitely be back….we will make it a point to stop every time we travel through town.

We love going to the Amherst corner for ice cream and great food. We ordered hot dogs and ice cream for Independence Day. The service was excellent and everything is very reasonably priced! We will be back soon.

Great neighborhood spot with truly wonderful service. I also love that they have both Beyond Burgers and black bean burgers for vegetarians, and the sweet potato fries are crispy and delicious. It’s such a nice family-run spot!

Found this place on the way to Greensboro NC. Stopped again on the way back. The staff was more than friendly, had outside accommodations for our little dog. The food was good. Couldn’t ask for more n

We were so lucky to stumble upon this gem on out drive from DC to Charlotte. We are vegetarians traveling with a large Bernedoodle. The corner restaurant had Beyond burgers and great veggies along with a dog-friendly patio so that our entire family could enjoy a nice lunch during our long drive! An added plus was the kindness and Southern charm of all the restaurant staff! Highly recommend!

Best place ever for a chicken salad sandwich! I always add cheddar cheese and bacon, they even ask if you want 2 or 4 pieces of bacon! ALWAYS stop here passing through!

My My My!!!! Me, my mom, my sister and niece stopped by for the first time yesterday afternoon. We had bacon cheeseburgers and my niece had cotton candy ice cream, I also had potato wedges. Babyyyyy when I tell you good is an understatement......everything was Great! The people that worked there were nice and friendly, even the customers were nice and friendly. A nice man came over to our table and talked to us for a few minutes and he was nice (and handsome) God bless him! We WILL DEFINITELY come back! I'm telling everyone I know about this place lol!!

OMG Kim our waitress was the best I've had in a tremendously long time. She asked if it was our first time we said yes so she explained the menu which was so helpful. The service was fast and the food delish. I highly recommend

I really love this place. It was my first time stopping after passing it several times and thinking to myself, 'I really have to stop there.' That seems to happen a lot down this way. I stopped in with my son and was worried when I saw everyone eating ice cream because I thought that it was just an ice cream parlor. It turns out everything is amazing here. It has elements of a classic southern market, like hot comfort food by the container and kind personal service. There's a whole menu to consider of sandwiches and sides. Great sides, too, like fried pickles, hush puppies, and batter dipped onion rings. I got a single bacon cheeseburger, which could not have been fresher. The onion rings on the side were flaky, soft, and perfectly cooked. I can NOT wait to get back here for breakfast. I had a nice conversation at the counter with a few people. A crowd sat outside enjoying ice cream and community. Kind, helpful service. Highly recommended, thoroughly encouraged. A second visit revealed that there are rules about where to order. Don't be a newbie like me and wait in the ice cream line when you are ordering food. You'll wait twice.

The Amherst Corner Restaurant was not a disappointment! The reviews led us to stop and we were so glad we did. Exceptional service and food! You gotta try the cowboy beans!

We're out of towners but stop here on our way traveling to NY and back to NC. Food and service is always great.

We stopped in as we passed through town heading to our Airbnb, and we are so glad we did. This seems to be a happenin' local joint, and we can understand why! Amazing customer service, delicious food, friendly guests, and reasonable prices. Only complaint is they were closed on our way home Sunday! ;-)

Great local family restaurant offering typical fair, but done well. Had a bacon cheeseburger, the cook of the burger was spot on. Coffee was good and hot.

Too expensive in my view went there mainly to get gas last time there seen young girl say 18 sleeping in woods behind store don’t ask I don’t know

The Amherst Corner Restaurant is a hidden gem I stumbled upon while leaving Delaware. on my way to Atlanta… Located next to a convenient truck stop, (60 min parking) 🅿️ the crispy wings and delicious pizza were a pleasant surprise. The cashier's friendly demeanor brightened my day, although I regret not catching her name. As an OTR truck driver from Atlanta, (the home of hot wings) finding quality wings can be a challenge on the road, but this place nailed it. The added bonus of a full ice cream bar, pizza etc. Highly recommended!

Best service ever the food to die for love this place the one lady is so sweet

Stopped for a lunch on our day travelling. Upon entering we were immediately warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. The place was clean, basic dinner food, reasonably priced, quick service, fresh and tasty food. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive but at the same time not too in your face or annoying. Definitely will come back if I am passing again.

This place has amazing customer service and the food is just great! It's good old country cooking and not to mention the ICE CREAM!!!! And they have FRIED PICKLES!!!!! And they are hands down the best fried pickles ANYWHERE!!!

Friendly atmosphere and good food

My wife and I stopped in on a random drive thru the Amherst area... What a Delight The mwal was all Home Made and Delicious, and our server, Kim was an absolute treasure....what a wonderful experience...and all by a LOCAL, NON CHAIN ESTABLISHMENT...which makes it all the more special HIGHLY RECOMMEND A VISIT

Chicken salad sandwich was the best I’ve ever had.

Menu selections were good for any meal. Prices were very reasonable, portions sufficient, a lot of "home made" to enjoy. Always busy. And for dessert, a great selection of ice cream cones,shakes,or sundaes.

I’ve been wanting to try a burger at Amherst Corner, for a while, and got to today! That was the most delicious cheese burger I’ve ever eaten, when eating out!!! It was perfect!

Check it out. I was amazed by the friendliness AND the food. Prices are reasonable, though in my opinion they could charge more and I wouldn't complain. It's about $8 per dish.

Nice little place to stop alongside 29. They usually have a steam table deli with various items available. They have Hershey scoop ice cream. A bit pricy, but the food is always fresh and hot.

Best burger I've had in a long time

Love the jumbo hot dog with cowboy beans! And the pumpkin shake is my long awaited treat in the fall! Love this place for the atmosphere and kind people who care for their customers. Usually very busy place so if you want your meal fast call ahead.

Been here multiple times and always get their delicious ice cream! They have adorable kiddos serving who are always friendly and courteous. The "Family" in their name is very appropriate. Moving out west next week, I'm definitely going to miss this place!

My husband,Randy, and I have passed by this attractive restaurant numerous times within the last several years as we were traveling to North Carolina to visit family members. I frequently told my husband that I wanted to stop to eat at this restaurant sometime.Due to our own scheduling issues, we could not seem to work out a time to stop there. Today,we decided to drive from our home in Stuarts Draft,which is 42 miles away,because we wanted to eat at Amherst Corner Restaurant! Wow- what a wonderful experience! We were welcomed by the pleasant and friendly owner as soon as we walked in, seated at a cozy booth,and served by Kim,a lovely and kind lady. We enjoyed talking to the owner as we made many connections with him and our own family and friends. Our food and ice cream was delicious! On our way home,we discussed the fun and heartwarming visit we had at this lovely restaurant.We will definitely return very soon!

I have nothing bad at all to say about this restaurant.. I hope they are around for many years cause I look forward to going back and trying other items... definitely make it a stop if your in that area

The Codfish sandwich was delicious as well as the onion rings and the Ro Ro sauce was very tasty! Our waitress Karen S was a sweetheart and very helpful! We will be back, good Lord willing.

Indeed the best ice cream around (one has to pay dearly for quality, but it's worth it...)
