Good food.Very tasty,excellent seared tuna sandwich.Nice place.

Very good service. A bit pricey,. especially drinks, but worth the visit. May want to check online menu ahead of time for prices, but some entrees deom online menu weren't actually on the restaurant menu any longer. Wait staff very pleasant and knowledgeable! Heavier traffic to/from the restaurant can be avoided by coming in from the north, on DAVIES DRIVE, going south from CONCORD ROAD. The main road, East Market St, can get pretty busy altho there IS a traffic light to allow easy access in and out!

We have been going here since 2015, I cannot think of one time we had a less than amazing meal. This is the go to date night spot for us. The most recent outing to the First post we ate at the Bar the head bartender was nothing less than exceptional. I have seen many restaurants fold do impart to poor management or sub par service, I think First Post is in it for the duration at least I hope so.

Really is a great spot for a date. Food is fantastic, but the cocktails, they are Fuego!

While tasting their spicy italian sausage pasta, me and my girlfriend came to a conclusion: this is the best pasta we've ever eaten. Not hyperbole; it was just that deep in flavor. Just beautiful. The good ratings that this place has come from the incredible experiences this place gives! Recommend! :)

I dined at The First Post tonight and let me just say - this was a phenomenal experience. My server, Emily, welcomed us with an infectious smile and made us feel like family for the duration of our meal. She recommended the cream of crab soup and OH was that good. The entrees were cooked to perfection, and we have no complaints. Will be back!

Sarah was exceptional and tender to our needs with care. She was very courteous with my 91 year old mother. The food was very good. The only thing I would critique is the noise. Brendon, the manager was very attentive and helped clean tables. What a wonderful place to have dinner - the crab cakes we Devine, the ribs fell apart, the flank steak was tasty and the creme brulee was so good. Didn't get pictures of anything but the dessert.

Tasty oysters, crispy calamari, crab soup, crab cakes, and delicious grits!! The food was great, but our server, Paul, made it even better! Very thoughtful, explained the menu options well, and anticipated our needs before we even had to ask! All around best night out for food and great service we have had for a loooooooong time!

This is a great place for a business lunch or an after work drink. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is great. I really enjoy the lobster roll. The lobster meat is always tender and there's a lot of it. If you need a place to go out to, this one is constantly good.

This was our first visit to The First Post. The setting was great, the food was fantastic, the only thing better was the service. Jason was amazing. Definitely going back.

I love The First Post! Everytime I come here, I have a great experience. The staff is always friendly and polite. Drinks are refilled in a timely manner. The food is amazing and I cannot wait for my next visit!

It's been TOO LONG since I've had a meal this good. Worth the drive from Harrisburg. Chris was a great server with a ton of menu knowledge and recommendations. Will definitely be back when we have the time.

First visit here and was amazed at how spacious the interior was. It’s like entering an old mansion. It was great. The food and cocktails were excellent, the service was very good good, will definitely be back.

I recently did takeout from The First Post while passing through on a trip, and I have to say, it exceeded all my expectations! We ordered the scallop appetizer, crab soup, French onion soup, lobster roll, and crab dip, and every single item was fantastic. The flavors were spot-on, and you can tell the menu is thoughtfully crafted. As someone who considers themselves a tough critic, I can confidently say that the lobster roll and French onion soup were the best I’ve ever had. Although we didn't dine in, the inside of the restaurant looked beautiful, and I'd love to come back for a full dining experience. Highly recommend this place—definitely worth a visit!

Group of 10. Waiter was friendly and attentive. We had a wide range of menu items. Everything was very good. Atmosphere was nice. Only flaw is second floor has one male/female restroom. Need more restrooms. Restaurant was very busy and had several people waiting. Parking is behind Restaurant.

If you want a fine dining option in York, PA but don't want to go into downtown York... this is your place! Everything is amazing from Lobster Rolls to Surf and Turf. And don't forget the amazing Bar!

My wife and I came in for our anniversary dinner. We are never disappointed when we dine at the first post. Our server Lexie was top notch. We shared cream of crab soup and the goat cheese toast appetizer both absolutely remarkable. For dinner my wife had the sirloin and crab cake and as for myself. I can’t stop raving over this best barnone EVER pork chop. No place can’t even get close to this. EXCELLENT. We will always return and recommend First Post. As for Lexie. What a blessing you have as a server. Details and her bubbly self makes a wonderful experience. Thank you. The Sweitzers.

Always a great experience at the First Post. Had the surf and turf and it didn't disappoint. The best entrée I've had there and I've been going since it opened. Filet was cooked to perfection and lobster was grilled to right the tenderness.

A friend recommended this restaurant to us. We live an hour away and it was worth the drive. The pork chop was huge and flavorful. My wife has the meatloaf and will have it again tomorrow because the portions are huge. Every staff member we dealt with was super friendly. We will be back regularly.

We had Sunday brunch. It was great. They even had a few vegan options. I'm allergic to eggs and dairy, so we check menus ahead. They do not have vegan options for coffee creamer.

We've been going here for a few years now. This is definitely one of the better restaurants in York. The food is consistently good. I'm writing this review a few weeks after having eaten there so I don't have any pictures or descriptions of what anyone in our party ate that night. However, we've eaten there enough - and will continue to - so I feel comfortable giving First Post a solid review.

I liked the food so much, I to got married here. And I don't mean a reception, I tied the knot upstairs. That's a true a story. But in all seriousness, the food, atmosphere, and service is exceptional.

I’m gluten free and they really took care of me and my food! I got the spicy sausage rigatoni with gf pasta and it was absolutely delicious. My husband got the ribeye and that was amazing too. Will definitely be back!

One of the very few favorite restaurants in York. We go here often for delicious food and environment! Prices are a little steeper but their quality reflects that higher price.

I drive to Pa from Md to see my son and his family frequently. I stopped in to get a quick bite .. a salad for later. This resturant is incrediable. The atmosphere and decor is old school beautiful with historical feel. The calamari with the lemon sauce .. just perfection. The steak wedge salad . Dont even ruin it with dressing. The flavor just excites your taste buds .. its beyond delicious. Just .. remarkable.. one of the top 5 salads i have had in my life. I will go back. The scotch eggs looks heavenly. A meal a chicken would be proud to give its eggs to.

Ambiance is amazing. Servers are always friendly, and most importantly, the food is always delicious 😋 I recommend the crab dip and French onion soup!

Dropped in on a Monday night and requested a table for 6. Got a weird look and the trio of hostesses asked if we had a reservation. We said no and they were still able to accommodate us. Our waiter, Paul, was knowledgeable and helpful. Taking his suggestions, our food arrived promptly and was well prepared. My son ordered the steak tips off the kids menu and they were amazing. Worth your time and money.

We had Tesla. Wonderful server. Got the fish and chips and wife got a pasta dish. Delicious. Always love the atmosphere there. And the young lady who sat us was professional and courteous. Reservations are always best.

Another lovely experience here, this time after church. Seven people in our party and no one had any food corrections. I ordered the short ribs w/grits and substituted carrots for brussel sprouts w/o a problem. The table had crab dip, oysters on the half shell, fish & chips, burgers, and roasted chicken. Bella! Magnifique! Excellente! Ummm mmm good! Our server Eric was very pleasant and accommodating. Kudos!

Best in York County! Price and quality always are on par. Love that they change the menu seasonally. We have never had a bad meal or experience here, which is why we keep coming back. Wayne is one of their best servers! We love every time we are seated in his area. Crooked Horse lager is a must try if you like beer. Highly recommend this place!

By far York’s best restaurant - food is top tier and staff is extremely friendly. The menu is quite varied but overall we have always liked the dishes here. The BBQ short rib is highly recommended.

Sam provided excellent service, and he was very willing to assure accommodations I needed due to celiac disease happened. The french onion soup (without croutons) and lobster roll with GF bun were amazing. All in our party had excellent meals with sizable portions. Will look forward to another visit!

We usually love this place. We live in Lititz and drove out for a Father’s Day meal. Our server was great and so was the atmosphere. But we were so disappointed in the lobster roll. My Husband treated me and it wasn’t cheap. There was only 3 little pieces of lobster and tons of sauce. It was $28 and ver disappointing. The rest of the meal was great. But just very bummed it was so much for so little.

With no prior reservation, the only available seating was at the bar. Steve, the bar tender, was excellant! Our drink order was immediate. Our food order was taken as soon as we were ready. Our meals came quickly. The portions were plentiful, and the food was excellant! There was nothing that could be done better! Thank you, First Post ! We will definitely be back!

The First Post is memorably good. I highly recommend their short ribs, lobster roll, and charred octopus. I love their brunch as well.

First time visiting....all good ..will return

Today I was a first time visitor with a friend. I ordered the meatloaf and she ordered the crab cake meal. My meatloaf, broccolini and mashed potatoes were really good. The glaze definitely made the meal. My friend enjoyed the crabcakes and said they were good. They had big pieces of crab. She also had french fries as a aide (not in the pic) and they were just average. We shared the cinnabon cheesecake for dessert. It wasnt as good as we hoped and wished it was a little less firm. All in all, we would say it was a good meal. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Edited to add pictures from our second visit on 04/14/2024.

Went to The First Post today for lunch with my mother, and had excellent 5 out of 5 service at the bar by Brandon. The steak sandwich was outstanding.

Can't go wrong with First Post. My fiance and I eat here pretty frequently. The queso burger is amazing.

Reservations are recommended! We had a reservation and we were seated right away on a Friday night. The food was good, service ok. We were upstairs and I felt like maybe we were forgotten.

Arrogant owners. Regularly host private dinner parties for pharmaceutical companies, and berate the staff BEFORE something goes wrong. Hires prison work release to replace prep cooks and dishwashers. Lead line cook jokes about touching children. Worst place I ever cooked at.

This was my second visit and it was as good as my first visit. Wait staff was courteous and the food 😋. The Spicy Sausage Rigatoni is yummy and they give you a lot! If you have not been here, you are missing out.

First night, the waiter goofed up the order. Misunderstanding. Was asking the boss what he was getting. Suggested the shepherds pie. The waiter thought I wanted the shepherds pie. I told the waiter meat loaf. All good, was fixed real fast. Seen the shepherds pie then had to come back the second night to try it. Both plates were excellent. Sampled the calamari. Not a big portion, but it was good.

Excellent food and top notch service! Drinks and entrees were all delicious (grits & scallops and lettuce wraps were especially amazing) and they have some excellent vegan options. Kids menu too!
