It was a wonderful place to got to. It's a casualty of the Covid scare. It's closed now

Excellent service and food. Beautiful surroundings. Feels like a Thanksgiving dinner with family in an elegant older estate. Sad they are closing again but so happy we were able to dine on the last day. Praying for a speedy reopening.

Be prepared to wait! Apparently "a few minutes" is an hour and a half. I understand this restaurant is popular, but if you want to stay open you need to work on your logistics. Take reservations or tell the truth about how long it takes. All you can eat is nice but the prices have gone up and dessert is no longer included. I've gone out of my way to come here a few times and it's becoming harder to justify. Please, I love this restaurant, do what you need to do to stay relevant!

Covid-19 has caused them to eliminate all you can eat. 2 of us dined with 3 pieces of chicken to share. We ordered Roast Beef. 3 pieces issued to share. We tried to order and offered to pay for more chicken for dine in. Told no. We asked how much to go price. 8 pieces for $14. I wanted to leave because it is difficult to share 3 pieces if chicken. I was initially told there would be generous portions. We eventually bought 3 pieces more. Prices unclear for dine in. Told prices were lowered to my boyfriend before arriving. Previous placemats put on table with original pricing. 3 biscuits for 2 people. I don't go there for the vegetables. Odd number of items for 2. Will return again once clearer.

Love the place but you should make people aware of the new policies. The first portions are not larger as stated by our waitress. $2 cheaper when most people drive from farther away isn't it. No refills on food but refills on drinks ok. Don't understand that part. Food is good.

The bucolic location setting after a lovely autumnal 3/4 hr -motoring from home was worth the trouble as being seated and treated to a full country dinner fare 🌽🥬🥧🍽

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but the food is just okay. Staff is amazing, but the food is just average. Sure it's got all the elements of a southern diner, but not the taste

They opened specifically for our party of 25. The food was hot and ready on time with the staff fully engaged in our party.

Great experience. Food is served family style and bottomless although the menu is shorter. The food reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen table. Staff is attentive and personable. This place is very popular and considered a landmark to many in the area. Stop in and enjoy when you can.

If I had to choose my last meal I would choose anything from The Homeplace because it’s the best restaurant ever and I could easily/happily eat myself to death. Best restaurant on the planet

It's like a home cooking. They bring everything out on plates or bowls and u just help yourself. It's like sitting at the dinner table at home. It has a home feeling as well. Bring ur appetite.

GREAT Southern home cooking! As a good as Grannys! Awesome staff took care of us like we were family. Our rugby team had a scrumptious, bonding meal, on our way home with Bracket Champs trophy! I will be returning every time I visit SW VA!

You can't go wrong with the service and food here. The perfect spot after a long hike, this all you can eat restaurant knows how to cook southern food. There's typically a wait, but that only gives you more time to have an empty stomach.

The Homeplace is a gem that all of the locals love and all of the thru hikers on the AT can't wait to visit. It is an old farm house nestled in the catawba valley with breathtaking views and amazing homestyle cooking. The fresh hot fried chicken is even better than mama's (but please don't tell her I said that)!

Don’t know if it’s worth a drive if you’re not hiking. The food is good, but it’s all pretty standard southern food, nothing necessarily outstanding. Chicken skin wasn’t crispy when we got it, got a bit soggy.

Amazing, home-style food, and they just keep bringing it until you explode, leaving nothing but your heaving ribcage and shredded clothing sitting in your seat to indicate another VERY satisfied customer! If you don't love The Homeplace with a full belly, yer mama dropped you on yer head!

Oh my gawd. The menu is limited but also unlimited! You can just keep piling on the sides lol It was incredible. PRO TIP: Make a reservation!! It can be VERY crowded.

Really unique setting and delicious food, I try and come here as much as I can. It’s an all you can eat served home style restaurant, and it’s all really good quality food. It’s an established place in the country that I don’t see going anywhere for a long time. I’d suggest this for a family get together or for almost any occasion really.

An old farm house converted to a restaurant where every room is the dining room! Great food with all the fixing of a home meal, and all you can eat! You pick how many proteins you want with the meal, 1,2, or 3. They are deep fried chicken, country ham, and roast beef. (Pork bbq on Thursday only!) Sometimes busy and they dont take reservations, but well worth the wait and drive!

Amazing food and service. 15$ per adult for 2 of three meat options ( fried chicken and option of ham or roast beef) and 7 sides. For a dollar more per person you can have all three meats. They will constantly refill all food until you are done, drinks included.

Wonderful! Had family group of 19 people. Served promptly will delicious hot food. Had a great waitress who had been there 30+ years. Hope to see her again!

Take a family with empty stomach's and leave with smiles and satisfaction that you ate a staple restaurant for the area. It's a local tradition that has been instilled in many as the spot for Sunday lunch. We always get the roast beef, chicken and turkey. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing place to eat. Went here after I finished my section hike from pearisburg to daleville and it was wonderful.

I was recommended The Homeplace by a few people and was looking forward to trying it. We arrived fifteen minutes before opening and there was already a line. Once they started seating it went relatively fast and since there is one set menu the food came really quickly. The food was delicious we tried all three meats and while all the food was amazing, the chicken was the table favorite as well as the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The scenery was beautiful and the old house was so pretty. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, the price is right for the fast, hot and delicious food. The perfect phrase to sum this restaurant up would be it's a reminder of Thanksgiving dinner.

Always worth the wait! Absolutely delicious homemade food! We always visit when we are in town. Make sure that you plan for at least an hour of waiting for a table, but know that it will be worth it!
