Came here several times during our trip, and itāll be our first stop if weāre ever back in Anchorage - the old fashioned donuts are amazing!! Loved the Samovar tea as well. Super charming little cafe and gift shop, and the staff are kind and welcoming.

The store has a gift shop in the front and coffee shop in the back. The coffee was very good. There are an assortment of teas to choose in the shop and lots of little items to buy if youāre visiting. Sadly the person who makes donuts was away.

There are a ton of tourist/gift shops in downtown Anchorage...all of them are very similar...except for the Kobuk which feels more historic (because it is) and offers unique tea, donuts, and other treats at their one-of-a-kind spot in the back of the store. When we walked in to the store (in search of donuts) we were immediately handed a sample of their samovar tea which my wife liked so much that she bought a couple packs to take home. We found our way back to the small cafe to be greeted by a display case of delicious-looking donuts, including unique, Alaska-only flavors like Samovar (the spices from the samovar tea included in the donut glaze) and Fireweed. They've got some "regular" flavors too...everything looked really good. We got the samovar and fireweed donuts...we loved them both. My wife also had some of the tea...they've got more baked goods including scones and a daily soup. The place has a long and rich history in Anchorage which you can read about in the displays in the cafe. If you're looking for a unique treat, very good donuts, or souvenirs different from what they have at all the other shops downtown, you definitely should pop in here...it's a wonderful bit of Anchorage history to experience.

The baked goods are yummy but my latte tasted burnt. The gal at the register accidentally entered 9 donuts and flatly refused to change it to 8 even though it was clear I only ordered 8 and there were only 8 in my box. She didnāt even bother to greet us or say thank you. Itās a lovely spot if you donāt mind paying extra to be treated with disdain by a 20 something year old.

āļøš» Support Local! The absolute cutest coffee shop and gift shop! Tons of local Native Alaskan and Canadian made finds! Beautiful Alaskan Jewelry & Earrings without the price gouging (itās double the price at the Museum down the block). Make sure you check out the adjustable copper bracelets in the case too! Artisan glacier soaps, souvenir photo frames, teas, ornaments, chocolates, childrenās gifts and more. The Coffee Shop is also apparently really good with scrumptious old fashioned donuts - but just missed āem since they closed early on Saturdays.

I would highly recommend this little place. I think hours for summer need to be updated on Google. But. Definitely go here if you need a coffee in the morning. Itās in the back of the shop. The girls working are very nice. And the doughnuts are great. I was lucky to get the instantly fresh. But they make them there so they are all fresh. The coffee is delish. And if you care about recycling, their cults and lids are made of bamboo and fully compostableā¦.unlike other big brands (coughs). Make this a definite stop on your visit. I had a late w/ extra shot.

Little spot to get something to eat in the back of a gift shop. I tried a fireweed donut and the clam chowder. The donut was an old fashioned style donut which are my favorites. It was soft and delicious. I can't say I really tasted any fire weed which is just in the glaze. It basically just tasted like a regular glaze, but still yummy. The clam chowder was a large bowl chock full of potatoes and lots of clams. It was quite tasty and obviously homemade. Good for an inexpensive lunch when in downtown Anchorage.

When I called to check on it, I was told someone would call me back. It's been two hours and no call. I am very disappointed. Next day, still no call from the store and no comment to this review. After the Fur Rondy, we dropped by this nice and cozy store to get warm. We found a little cafe in the back of the store and decided to try it. First we were thinking of grabbing hot chocolates but there were also some nice looking doughnuts in the show window. So we ordered the vanilla and fireweed old fashioned ones. The vanilla one was good and tasted fresh so it must have been made that day. The fireweed one was unique and slightly spicy aftertaste but also good and we would recommend it as it is unique to Alaska. The cafe itself is not big and if you visit for afternoon tea time, it might be difficult to find a table but if you stay nearby, you can enjoy their drinks and doughnuts at your hotel as you can get it to go. But be warned, if you try to take a hot drink out in winter, a few minutes it will be cold.

What a great store! We stumbled on it while walking in Anchorage after flying in from the lower 48. The coffee, tea, and pastries fill the shop with wonderful smells. They were offering taster cups of a signature tea blend that has cinnamon, clove, orange, and other spices, which was simply heavenly. Another highlight of the store is the polish pottery. The brilliant colors and striking patterns are very attractive. There is also the typical Alaskan souvenirs, my favorite being a bumper sticker that says "Don't be an Oosik" on it. There is outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee and pastry in the back. I recommend stopping in for a visit if you are in the area.
