Mashed potatoes are instant. The vegetables come from a can. The chicken and ham are good. The restaurant is unbelievable noisy. I just don't understand the fascination with this place.

Celebrating a birthday. Our waitress, Paula, was amazing! We didn't want for anything. I had the catfish filets, delicious! Plus I had a piece of the strawberry pie, my favorite!

The Log Inn, the oldest restaurant in Indiana and a former stage-coach stop at which Abraham Lincoln once ate, was a great experience and a highlight of our family vacation. The food and atmosphere was incredible. It is definately a destination. Just make sure to bring cash, as they do not accept plastic. And be prepared to wait because the place is packed! But your wait will be worth it.

Some of the best fried chicken 🍗 I have eaten!! My husband and I were driving through and decided we were hungry. This place is busy but absolutely worth the wait! The portions are great and the service was good as well. We will absolutely make the drive from Arkansas to come back.

The food was good. I think the chicken could have used a little more flavor, but the gravy and biscuits were delicious. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was amazing. I didn't know the history of the place until we got there, so that was a nice treat. If I am ever in the area again I'd go back. FYI to us the German fries are just American (fried) potatoes, if you are wondering.

OFF THE CHAIN! Out of towners. We attended a rehearsal dinner with a large group (40+ persons). Walked into largely wood paneled place with ample seating and a rustic vibe. We were informed that it was family style service. So far, so good. Then the food came out....THE ANGELS SANG! Fried chicken coated in a delicious batter that was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Roast beef in gravy that was fork tender. Large ham slices, moist with flavor. Succulent REAL mashed potatoes that had to be refilled over and over again. I could go on and on about the homemade rolls, cooked fresh vegetables, and delicious sweet tea, but I need to save room for the wonderful desserts specifically the coconut cream pie with toasted coconut. All the other desserts looked scrumptious and everyone commented on how wonderful their own dessert was. Go! Go with an appetite and loose clothes. You will be greeted by a welcoming staff, warm atmosphere and no pretensions but the real star is the food.

There isn't a single thing I can complain about when it comes to this place. Just be ready to wait because it's not uncommon for lines to form.

Eat here every time I'm up here. Always great food. There's just two of us we eat family style so we order a child's portion of meat. Have to have 3 to eat family style. Also just so you know they take cash or check only no cards.

An amazing restaurant. Very good meal. I'm originally from Illinois but have lived the last 38 years in New Mexico where you can't find a good fried chicken liver. So glad I ordered them. They were delicious! There were enough livers for two people. The better half had half of a fried chicken which was very good as well. We bought two pieces of coconut 🥥 cream pie to eat later in the hotel. Now the service was OUTSTANDING! Had a friendly, extremely wonderful server. I wish we lived closer, we would come back in a minute.

There’s really no better place than the Log Inn! If I was on death row and offered one last meal, I would without a doubt be asking for some fried chicken and mashed potatoes from this place. I ask to go here every year for my birthday, and when the year comes that my teeth can’t chew their fried chicken anymore, I’ll bring in a blender. The staff are always friendly, the food is unbeatable, and don’t even get me started on the pie! I think I feel my heart physically tear in half when they close every January. The only downside to eating here is that you’ll never be able to eat fried chicken from anywhere else ever again- it will simply never compare. 100/10 recommend, my favorite restaurant ever!

I was not impressed with the food here. Got the family meal which was a bit overpriced for what you get. There wasn't any salt on anything making the food bland. The mashed potatoes were definitely not homemade and sides come from a can (which is fine if it wasn't so overpriced) The fried chicken was cooked good but lacked in flavor. The apple pie I got was brought out cold and tasted ok but nothing special. Carrot cake was not good at all. Overall I felt like we got flim flammed. Kind of shame given that the restaurant was pretty neat inside (reason for 2 stars). Do not understand the hype of this place.

Really nice place, historic building with lots of character. NO CREDIT CARDS but there's an ATM on site. Good cocktail from a great bartender. Exceptional fried chicken. Peas might have been canned. Strawberry pie was tasty.

All of the food was absolutely delicious! The Fried Chicken is hard to beat, but then came the ham, and then the Roast Beef and gravy. Wow!!

Recently visited and they handled our family reunion of close to 40 people so well. Food was fresh and hot and served in a timely manner.

The food is always perfect. Homemade lemonade is great. Coleslaw is vinegar, NOT sweet, which I think is exactly how it should be made that most places don’t. It’s a local favorite for a reason.

Best fried chicken in Southern Indiana

Always an exceptional experience. I was with a group of 15. We were seated on time to our reservation. Our waitress did a wonderful job of keeping track everything that we needed. The food was absolutely amazing. Very highly recommend.

Drove 60 miles to eat there and they were closed! Their website said they were open as usual but was actually closed up until February something! Update your damn website accordingly people! Waste of our gas and time! No wonder I heard it's for sale, running off business like that!

Food is always great. Service is sometimes really slow. I think the poor waiters are overworked with too many tables. Place is cash or local check only. There is an atm on site though

Fabulous restaurant, highly recommended. If you want to try fried chicken with a delicious coleslaw, this is the place. You can eat the sides as many times as you want, if you are hungry you will be full here 😋 and recommended for the whole family! I recommend you make a reservation

We always go as a large group and get family style. The food has never been a disappointment. Love the roast, mashed potatoes, corn. For once I actually saved some room for dessert. The coconut pie was delicious. Our waitress was wonderful and made the experience even more enjoyable.

This place came recommended, but I would not recommend it to others, or go back. This place certainly has a unique style, and I enjoyed most aspects of my visit. We liked *all* of the sides, and I thought the slaw in particular was unique. However, THE main draw, the chicken, was disappointing. It hadn't been seasoned at all! It's pretty sad when you don't want a second piece of hot, juicy fried chicken because the (dark) meat itself was so bland. My niece got the gizzards, but I found them tough and flavorless. Gizzards are my favorite part of making a whole chicken at home, so again, this was disappointing. They should do *something* to give the chicken some flavor.

I called and made a reservation and was told Cathy would call me back the next day. That never happened, I understand people get busy so I called again to make sure everything was okay with the reservation and got told Cathy would call me by Thursday..never happened. So I called again and I asked to talk to Cathy this time, she said in the backround get the number I’ll call them back. I mentioned I’ve been told this 3 times now. The girl on the phone said ma’am there are 1,000 people wanting a reservation. I mentioned this is a Christmas dinner and I need to make sure i have a reservation somewhere so that’s why it was so important. They said she will call you by Saturday. NEVER CALLED! So needless to say if my reservation isn’t important enough to just get a call back I won’t be giving them any money.

We had our Company Christmas party here last Thursday. Kathy and Darryl were so helpful in planning the party and went out of their way to make sure that everything went perfectly. The food was absolutely great! We had chicken, roast beef,and ham. Everyone had a wonderful time and I can definitely say it was the best Christmas party we've had in 43 years! Shout out to Sara, our waitress,and all the staff that pitched in to help. It was an awesome experience! Definitely going here next year!

My wife had introduced me to this place back when we were dating, and we had the pleasure of enjoying a meal here one more time with family and friends prior to getting married. This place has a ton of history, with each room's decor being different than the previous. The restaurant is split into many dining rooms, each accommodating quite a bit of seating. This place serves family style meals, American style. The fried chicken is a must when choosing your protein (moist crispy and massive pieces!), and there's a medley of sides that you can choose from! We typically choose corn, mash and green beans, but the last time we went we had German potatoes (cooked in a cast iron skillet) and coleslaw also. Proteins include fried chicken, roast beef, ham, catfish etc. The coleslaw wasn't the best. It's a vinegar based dressing and holds a straw raw cabbage taste. The corn and green beans are definitely canned; however, these do not detract from the overall meal as the proteins are amazing! Service is always stellar for a restaurant of the size. Dessert is to die for. Definitely worth checking out. It's dirt cheap per person at ~$14!

Can't wait to go back. We loved the old timey atmosphere. Our group of 6 dined family style. The meats we chose were chicken (both light & dark) and ham. We had the standard sides that they offer. The food was excellent. Our server was very attentive and basically knew what we needed before we did. Lol I feel we received excellent value for what we spent to feed this crew.

Always. Always. Always. Get the mixed fried chicken plate. Concentrate on the side dishes first, you can't take those home with you. They give you to-go bags for the chicken.

Log inn has lost its charm over the years The food is very bland and everything tastes as if it's straight out of a can or pre-made box. Even the chicken has no flavor. Yet why the parking lot is always full is beyond me. I've had chow in the USMC messhall with more flavor. The staff acts as if they are so burned out and just going thru the motions to get their shift over with. Nothing special other than the history of the building.

First time customer here. The place reminded me of a more country version of Paula Deans. The food was top notch and the waitress we had was friendly and very attentive to our needs. I will definitely be going back to try other things on menu, but the country ham was spot on.

They are expensive but worth it, Bring a lot of people with you, and you will get your money's worth

Really Good Food and fast service. The Employees is Very Nice and the Atmosphere is Great. You will Definitely leave full and it's all at a reasonable price.

Food is not as good as it used to be. Had to wait half hour to get seated then ordered and waited another half hour. Food was served at 6. We ordered family style. You cannot take home leftover sides. We had peas and corn from our initial bowls left. That should be allowed to take home. Maybe they could use different color bowls for refills to tell and let you have original leftovers. Seems quite the waste. You get a clear plastic bag to drop leftover meat into. Not a fan of that. It's a cool place with lots of history. Our server did a good job.

Came with a few of my brethren from church that came to help at the church camp in Dale, Indiana. We all were impressed and enjoyed ourselves. For me, it was joyful to eat at one of Indiana oldest restaurants. I was impressed with the quantity and amount you get. When back in the area , we will be stopping by again.

I visited on 09/17/23. We were invited to a party and it was my 2nd time ever being here. We booked a party for upstairs, it was roughly 30 to 40 people. Our server was very attentive and took care of us. When we first arrived it was very busy! The food is awesome! I like how they serve family style, cause, well, family is always a great reason to get together. The food was hot and delicious! I will be back, I don't know why other reviews I had read weren't as good, but my experience was fantastic!

Always busy, almost always a wait, pretty crowded spaces. Upside: easily accommodate large parties, ordering family style is A LOT of food, you won't leave hungry. Food is good. Service as far as personality and pleasantness is great but there is usually a length waiting period after ordering.
