Best meal of my life! A treat and an honor for the chance to experience this and one we certainly will never forget! The most hospitable group of women ( and Conner! ) is the cherry on top of the amazing food and atmosphere. It really felt like eating with your best family and friends and we never wanted it to end. Erin has done an amazing job seeing through with her vision for it and we could not of been more pleased! I’m still reeling from the fried chicken, the best I’ve ever had!

I took my best friend (in which I take my girl friendship seriously. Small tight knit circle)to bless our friendship that boujee & over the top classy way I do things. This wonderfully curated experience including fantastic food, amazing service and hospitality. We stayed in the on-site cabins making it a wonderful overnight...(get away up north)combining the best of a world class restaurant, B&B and glamping. Highly recommend. The best 3x5 post card that I’ve ever sent. Classy and exclusive way to dine. This sealed my friendship eloquently with my forever bestie. Be prepared to spend around $150pp on a dinner at The Lost Kitchen including tax and tip, (but not including any wine you choose to purchase in the wine cellar downstairs before you head up to dinner). But also know that it will be worth every penny. From the rustic setting in an old restored mill hidden away in tiny Freedom Maine, to the bridge across the stream you cross to get to the restaurant, our evening dining there was nothing short of magical. The ambience and supper club vibe fits chef/owner Erin French's style perfectly. After choosing our wine, we headed up to be seated. There is no real menu. The roughly 45 dinner guests each evening are served a progression of small plates leading up to the entree and dessert.. We had been given a card with a few courses that would be served so we could pick appropriate wine to go with our dinner, but were warmed that was only a 'teaser'. And they weren't kidding! Course after course was served to our table. Each one more delicious than the last. The wait staff explained each dish - all featuring local and seasonal ingredients. About half way through the three hour dinner, Erin (who had been serving throughout the evening and chatting with guests) stood up and thanked everyone for coming. She gave such a heartfelt speech that really showed her passion for what she does. That is also evident in her food. I travel alot and have dined at plenty of upscale restaurants, but I have to say that my meal at The Lost Kitchen was absolutely great, nothing I would change. From the cheese, beet and radish plate to the oysters artfully arranged on a bed of moss and stones to the lemon basil sorbet to the entree of halibut to the edible nasturtium garnish and chive butter... Every bite was delicious. If you are lucky enough to have your postcard chosen in the annual April "lottery" - this small seasonal restaurant has come up with a truly unique way to assign tables which involves sending in a postcard through the mail during a week long period before the season opens, and then hoping you are chosen from the more than 10,000 entries they receive each spring - then you are lucky indeed. Little F.Y.I. : There is no salt or pepper on the tables. And not a single dish needed any. Everything was perfectly seasoned.

I dove into the lobster bisque, and guys, it's like they bottled up the essence of Maine's coastal magic. Creamy, dreamy, and each spoonful had me questioning if I should just order another round. Then came the wood-grilled salmon, and let me tell you, that fillet had a smokiness that did a tango with the freshness of local produce. It's the kind of meal that makes you want to stand up and slow clap. The whole experience, from the cozy ambiance to the unforgettable flavors, made me feel like I stumbled upon a hidden gem. If you find yourself in Maine, do whatever it takes to get a spot at The Lost Kitchen—your taste buds will thank you.

Very nice place. Did get treasures in the shoppe. Was dissatisfied in the wine cellar as the bin of $9 wine, was in fact, not a bin of $9 wine. I paid $32 for a bottle of wine @ 375ml which I grabbed from the $9 bin. "Bait and switch". Just beware. When questioned, the cashier did point to the 1/4" price tag. Why, oh, why was it put in the $9 bin? Very unexpected in a place such as this. Won't be returning.

We have been so lucky to have been fed by the soul warming Lost Kitchen 4 times- does not disappoint! Single best oysters I’ve ever had, anything with bone marrow butter is gold, salads and sorbets and snacks are all essentials. It has gotten a little more challenging to dine with a gluten allergy- accommodated pre-covid, but these past two times, no accommodations were made. There was so much food that it really was not a big deal. The price of the meal is also increased quite significantly- I think it will deter us from entering the raffle again. So glad we went when we did!

Ok, so, boo and I come to Maine every summer. We watch the lost kitchen TV show and talk about sending in the postcard every year but we live in la so it's not that practical. Anyway we got an email saying that they were doing a Farmers Market and it was happening the Tuesday we were staying in Darmascotta for the week so of course we went. It was a blast! We love Farmers Markets and we go to our local (Atwater Village) every week and always try to go to local ones wherever we are. Both of us have eaten at plenty of Michelin star type restaurants over the years so the idea of a dinner at The Lost Kitchen is appealing but not like, a must. On the other hand this Farmers Market experience was authentic AF and Erin was up in the gift shop wrapping purchases and signing autographs and taking pictures. The Farmers Market itself was incredible and included sourdough bagels, two different cheese makers and the biggest asparagus I have ever seen. They were making pizzas out in front and you could shop in the wine cellar and buy ice cream. There were no bathrooms and it's about half an hour from Belfast so plan accordingly. Honestly I think this was probably more fun than eating at the restaurant and a truer representation of the Erin French aesthetic than the fine dining format she is forced into for marketing purposes. Anyway, she's an icon and what a treat. Highly recommended!

....while recovering at home, I stumbled on this wonderful 💕 show and love the overall theme..., and just for viewing alone (I'm on season 3), I give The Lost Kitchen five stars+, but still trying to understand the reservation process..., help me out! I feel the postcard entry is brilliant, as it makes the process intriguing, but should an individual who took the time to write, postage, then mail their request, like four years ago, have to hope for a chance? Maybe there's something, in the planning, that I'm not aware of, it just seems fair to have reservations on a first-come-first-serve basis? Who knows the circumstances of some these very nice individuals, and how things can certainly change suddenly..., so when I saw a handful of postcards being pulled out, glanced at quickly, then put onto the table, sorting and shuffled like a deck of cards, looking for the perfect "something," I guess, but not sure, then someone says "how about this one," it just felt a little off to me..., but once again, and in all fairness, I do not know your overall process for selecting and I'm still an early viewer, a pleased😁 one I might add, but just thought it was worth mentioning, for all of those very nice people that have been waiting for a really long time, maybe they're okay with it 😊 and if so, I stand corrected! Five Stars+ in my book and keep up the good work, you guys are amazing!!! Please share your thoughts! ❤️

We were lucky enough to get a reservation just as TLK was reopening its inside space after COVID restrictions. The reviews, photos, and even the show can’t do justice to actually visiting and dining there. We loved our dinner and experience and have proceeded to tell many about it-even as doing this adds more competition for future reservations LOL!, Regardless of when you go, you are sure to experience an intimate setting with a staff, including Erin herself, who clearly enjoy what they do and know how to deliver an experience that is really unmatched anywhere. Let me preface this by saying we live locally and are not wealthy folks, this dinner for just my wife and I cost more than our monthly mortgage - no that is not hyperbole or exaggeration. That being said I feel we received a meal and experience that completely delivered - we left feeling that we got what we paid for and more. Everyone from the servers to Erin herself work tirelessly to ensure every guest has a perfect experience. One of the best parts of the entire evening was watching people that have extreme passion for their craft - Erin truly LOVES creating wonderful flavors and sharing them with others. The meal - I hesitate to even try and describe what we ate, I could not possibly do the food justice with a description. The dinner consisted of numerous small courses, each subsequent item being better than the last. The highlights were the absolute best piece of fish (halibut) any of us had ever had, perfect oysters, a slider prepared over a fire pit, and a creative take on borscht. Even the salad exceeded expectations - deep fried capers in lieu of crouton piled onto fresh, beautiful, locally grown greens. The entire experience was absolutely perfect in every way. Do not allow the challenging reservation system and high price point deter you from the best dining experience you will ever have, The Lost Kitchen lived up to the hype and somehow exceeded our lofty expectations. Thank you Erin and crew for your efforts and passion, it is truly appreciated.

I sent in the postcard in April and heard nothing. So I forgot about ever dining at TLK. Come October 1 I got a phone call. I didn't recognize the number and neighborhood spoofing calls were rampant. The second call some little voice said "answer this one" . The caller from TLK said there was a cancellation for a week from now and were we interested. You bet! The experience was just that a food experience. Erins passion was so impressive along with her mastery of a dozen little iron skillets! We had the table for the evening and it was indeed a night out. 3.5 hours passed quickly. You must buy any wine at the store in the mill below but the wines geez good..French and not at all pricey. We paid $25 for a gorgeous red. If you run out you can go back to that store and buy more mid meal. Maine the way life should be TLK the way dining should be. The cookbook serves me well at home with local ingredients. It helps I live nearby. Yes being a Mainer I insist on good value for the money. And I feel I got it.

If you're lucky enough to be chosen by lottery, this is a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. I might not even call it a restaurant. How many restaurants do you go to where you get no choices for a meal? How many allow you 4 hours and serve 7 courses? Not any that I've been to. Here is what makes this place unique: 1. A single seating each night. Your table seats at 6:00 PM and it's yours for the night. No turnover. There is ample time between courses for conversation and enjoying the company. Make the most of that time. 2. Pre-chosen menu. When you arrive, that's when you find out what you're eating that night. You don't get a choice. But believe me, there are enough flavors and so much food here that it won't matter if you're not a fan of a particular kind of food. 3. The chef/owner stood up before the room and explained each of her dishes, reasons why she chose each dish, and the background of the ingredients for each. She was also readily available at the end of the night for a chat if you so desire. I loved the lottery aspect of reserving a table, I loved the atmosphere, I loved pretty much everything about the place. Some have called it pretentious or elite, but if you go thinking that this is an experience and not just a meal, you won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing I have had better but I only believe that is because I am from Maine where this restaurant is located and so the food while delicious did not feel especially exotic. When I say I have had better food I did fail to mention that I would only say I have had better food teice in my life and one was at a Michelin star restaurant. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much as well as the large shared table we were seated at in the center of the room, it encouraged conversation with new people.

This place lived up to the hype and that is pretty amazing. The buzz around this place generated by the unique presentation and operating style and the good old fashioned NYT review has not corrupted the actual experience; good for them. You can feel the joy and fun this group of talented people are having doing their presentation for the guest of the night. I will put the taste experience near the top of my 74 year travels. I first learned of TLK the summer of last year, and immediately put it on my bucket list. It was a dream experience from start to finish. My husband and I arrived early, to take in the sights of its SPECTACULAR location. The fall colors were a definite added bonus. I highly recommend an autumn reservation. What can I say about the rest of our night? I don’t think anything can truly do it justice. It was one of the grandest, most beautiful experiences of my entire life. The food was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Every dish was carefully crafted with such beautiful attention to detail. The flavors were unforgettable. We had a cold heirloom tomato soup with cilantro, a delectable cabbage salad, melt-in-your-mouth swordfish, and a spicy-sweet, scrumptious apple cake. Not to mention, what seemed like endless appetizers. It was above and beyond anything I could’ve asked for or imagined. The setting is the perfect blend of rustic and romantic; my absolute favorite. Erin and her staff go above and beyond, the entire time. They got wind that we were traveling to Boston, after dinner ended. So, Erin sent us with some coffee and treats to go. She didn’t have to, but made us feel so special. We really appreciate that. If you are considering sending your postcard next spring, don’t hesitate. You’ll be so glad you did.

We lucked out lottery-wise and were able to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday here... in fact our whole trip was planned around these reservations! In looking at the others photos, I have to say we really scored as ours looked better than most of them! Unfortunately I was too busy enjoying the courses to take photos, but I do have to say it was the first time ever I liked oysters! The flavors were bright and creative, the courses were incredible and inspired our foodie group to new heights. It was fun having full view of the kitchen and the whole restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised when Erin herself waited on us and took selfies with her cookbook & friends. My favorites were probably the cabbage salad (so mild you'd hardly know it was cabbage), spicy end-of-season gazpacho and to die for apple spice cake. The seafood hater even tried an oyster and the crab sammie. The whole vibe was pretty special and electric, everyone could feel it. And the setting was well worth the drive. Considering we enjoyed a 4+ hour experience and some rarely offered plates, the value was more than fair. You can purchase wine/beer/NA in their cellar anytime after 5:30. Erin's doing a great thing for the town and living a passionate, powerful life to boot!

We then went to buy our drinks for the night in their wine cellar below the restaurant. We then proceeded upstairs to eat the best food we have even eaten. Erin and her staff made every moment memorable and every dish was something to remember. We will be putting in again next year and every year after that!

We went there for our anniversary. The hostess/owner and staff put on a show worthy of a 5-star TV cooking show. First time in our lives that we tasted food that felt as if it had been loved! (As organic farmers ourselves that is a pretty special experience.) You have to experience this little restaurant to understand why it's so special. I hope they continue doing this for a very long time. Words cannot fully capture the special touches, the ambience and the food.

I had the serendipitous luck to get an unexpected reservation at The Lost Kitchen this summer and to experience, once again, a dinner fit for the Gods. Erin French and her amazing female staff provided a culinary experience unmatched by any place in America, for her menu selections delighted the eye and taste buds alike. One’s visit to TLK begins with a visit to the cellar of the Old Mill to pick selected wine pairings her knowledgeable mother has selected for the evening’s dishes. Once at the table, guests uncork their selections and begin with several delectable pre-courses to the main menu: a bread and cheese platter, a delicious mini slider, and a palette cleansing herb sorbet . Then the courses of the fixed menu begin, with Erin French choreographing the finishing touch of each course with balletic precision: a fresh seasonal soup poured over a medley of fruits and cheeses, a picturesque and delicious salad, the entrée which is determined by whatever fish or meat is the freshest that day, and the grand finale of a very memorable dessert from Erin’s repertoire. Throughout the meal, the lucky patrons celebrate their good fortune of this magical and sensory epicurean experience in a cozy mill embellished with seasonal flowers bather in the warm glow of candlelight. Erin French remains a Rock Star, and The Lost Kitchen is evermore an American Treasure. Texan in Maine

I am normally not one to take the time out to write a review, that being said, I absolutely had to share the experience that I had tonight(8/2119) at The Lost Kitchen! We were amoung the lucky to get a highly sought-after reservation and when we arrived and were welcomed with warmth and hospitality as if we were old friends coming over for a dinner party. Dinner was SPECTACULAR! Each course was thoughtfully crafted and perfectly executed and told a story, more specificly Erin French's story. From her mother helping us pair wine, to the daily bounty her local farmers provide her, everything had purpose. Her passion clearly resonates with her guests and dinner through her food. We were lucky enough to chat with Erin French after dinner and she couldn't be more gracious and grateful for her guests. From start to finish, I couldn't have been happier! I only hope I could be lucky enough to get a chance to go back!

Most amazing dining experience in my life. From the magical setting to the gorgeous old building to every careful detail, it seems that absolutely nothing was overlooked. The food was nothing short of perfection. I knew nothing of this restaurant before my cousin told me she was selected for a reservation and I basically went in blind, following my cousin's lead from NYC to Maine! I researched nothing and just took in the experience and boy was it worth every hour of car travel and every penny spent! The intro to the dinner by owner Erin French was passionate, energetic, and utterly charming. It doesn't get more farm to table than this place! I would love the opportunity to go back every year if I could manage it, without hesitation and I highly recommend this restaurant to every lover of food.

Lot going on with this place that works so hard to make it all look “sort of” effortless and chummy and yummy and romantic with an overall aren’t we cool to be here vibe. Congrats you got a reservation in bum***k Maine! There is drama and romance and a warm embrace found here - this place is seductive cue the candlebras (!) - but thankfully the food lives up to the hype. With every detail so thought out and quaint, from the female servers outfits (costumes) to the buying your byob downstairs from Mom(!?) to the story that surrounds the owner to the story that surrounds the food and why THIS food is being served on THIS night to the story on how you got the reservation, it can all be a little exhausting. Never fear my yoga loving friends you will adore this place! And you will get a heart hug and picture with Erin on the way out :) that you can share on fb. Superfine meal, a bit pricey but an all round excellently staged performance/experience.

An amazing experience. We’ve eaten all over the world in very high end restaurants and this came up even with them. My husband, a top Swiss chef was prepared to be disappointed but instead he was impressed and loved the food and the experience. Congratulations on such an achievement.

I don't even know where to begin, this was by far the most amazing dining experience my husband and I have ever had. When we arrived we immediately saw the beautiful mill and all we could hear was water. It was peaceful and relaxing. We walked across the bridge and around the the front of the restaurant we were greeted and escorted down the the wine cellar. They had an amazing selection and we got a perfect suggestion for dinner which was delicious! When we went into the dining room the atmosphere was rustic, relaxing and felt like you were in someone's home for dinner. We sat down and from then until the end we were served 8 absolutely delicious courses! Each one better than the last and served up by Chef Erin and her amazing team. They were so pleasant, friendly, charismatic. They were all more than happy to help guests with anything they needed and made us feel like each one of us was important. As Erin said in her speech, she wanted us to remember the way we felt and I can definitely say we will remember that dining experience for years to come. We hope we get the chance to dine again!

We arrived just after 5pm and took advantage of the time to explore the mill outside. We also were able to select our wine early and beat the rush. The staff are lovely, Erin French is adorable as well as immensely talented- and the food was as delicious as it was beautiful.
