Hello Members at Muddy Roots The place is Nice but Not The people. I came here for the atmosphere and to make friends. Look I get it this place is a friendly place and community for young adults and students. But I feel the complete opposite every time I encounter this place. Some people just give me the cold shoulder for no apparent reason and the Bartender was little rude and keep asking me if I need any help if I was threatening and harassing them which is not the case. The reason I’m giving a bad review and unfollowing them on instagram because I don’t the way people there has been treating me. And especially the bartender who I respect and claim she was my friend. She not mean but she wasn’t being nice either. Imagine I lose all my money to support u and that’s how y’all repay me I’m starting to feel unsatisfied and I’m not going come back anymore☹️😕

Honestly wanted something gut friendly like 2 nights ago. I was not even trying to order something sweet but the service was impeccable. The vibe was right. The server was pretty. Got a vanilla chai. So so good

It was our first time drinking kava and it was truly incredible! This place is super, the service was excellent, they explained everything to us and we finished with some delicious cocktails! The vibe of this place is incredible! I would definitely go again!

It was my first visit here and Paige was very helpful in giving me the rundown. After a sample, I felt that kava wasn't for me so I opted for a white tea with lychee flavor. The taste was refreshing and smooth, so I had another and ended up almost falling asleep due to the kratom! Inside was lively and full of people socializing. Luckily for me there were some spots where I could sit by myself. I would come again to have a relaxing drink.

I come here for most trivia Tuesday nights, and it usually gets pretty packed. But that doesn't stop the staff from making sure you're taken care of and trying to make space for you. I was totally fine to stand and hang around but one of the managers offered up their seat and rearranged seats just so me and my friends could all sit together. Love this place and it's always fun to come to!

I've been a regular at this bar for a year and a half, and I've never experienced another place like it. I've never been a "regular" anywhere until I started coming here, and that is because of the incredible atmosphere, community, and most importantly: their staff. Christian (manager), Kate, Paige G., Paige T., Cristie, Zach, and the rest of the brewers are all some of the most amazing people I've ever met. Over the past year I've had the privilege of getting to know each of them and The Muddy Root truly would not be the place that it is without them. Christian does a phenomenal job as manager, I don't think I've ever met a more friendly person than him and ever since he's become manager you can see the passion he puts into his job. Truthfully I could say amazing things about everyone here, both staff and customers. Their team does an amazing job of maintaining a positive and welcoming environment, which in turn creates an overall sense of comfort that just makes you feel safe with everyone in there. As a friend of the kavatenders, it makes me sad seeing some of the reviews on here that are just outright slanderous and inappropriate. To anyone who has never visited The Muddy Root before, I'd suggest going here yourself before forming an opinion. You won't be disappointed, I promise. The Muddy Root has a sense of community that I haven't seen anywhere else, and it's changed my life for the better.

WARNING OF RAMPANT MALPRACTIVE from a former daily regular (1 year) TLDR: Ownership silences negative reviews (previous review had 18 likes). Manager makes advances on customers and scorns/slanders those who say NO. Staff promotes use of drugs at a SOBER BAR. Staff spread rumors throughout the client base about other customers. Location is small and INCREDIBLY dirty. Game offerings are fine. Ownership is aware and tolerates inappropriate advances on customers by staff Do not be fooled by the 4.8 stars this business has, they routinely offer free drinks for 5 star reviews as well as having active employees writing multiple reviews, distorting their actual quality. With drinks ranging from $10-$15 and the clientele being college students, its easy to deduce the impact of these “promotions”. Additionally, ownership has negative reviews deleted, including my previous review which had the most likes (18 likes) because he knew that it reflected the true nature of his business. Staff: Incredibly unprofessional and ethically lacking in regards to the way they treat customers. As a former regular (daily visits for 1 year) here, kava tenders Paige G, Christian S (manager now), and Kate (previous manager) would routinely make fun of other customers to other customers. Staff will belittle you on things ranging from the way you would dress, the way you talk (social disorder included), and your physical attributes. It is incredibly unethical and goes against everything the kava community stands for. Staff regularly promotes drug use (not weed) in a SOBER BAR. Additionally, I personally know several people who have been made incredibly uncomfortable due to unprofessional (if you know what I mean) advances by the manager Christian. Those same individuals would then be treated terribly and be slandered for saying NO. They feel like they cannot speak on the matter because Christian will socially punish them for doing so. Ownership was made aware of the managers inappropriate advances and chooses to do nothing. Harassment of this sort is unforgiveable. If you are thinking about making this location your go-to kava bar you will be shunned and treated like a traitor for visiting others. There are plenty of other kava bars that have much better atmospheres, more affordable kratom and kava, and significantly better service. Lei Kava, Elevate, and Island Vibes each have considerably better offerings on all fronts. Trust me when I say, you can do better and will enjoy better elsewhere. Muddy root staff will slander most of you for things as little as not tipping 15% on an expensive drink that took them less than a minute to make. Drinks: Mediocre Quality, excessive price. Kratom has few flavor options relative to other more appropriate locations. The product is equal to that of all other kava bars, but is priced considerably higher. Other kava bars have a larger kava and kratom offering. Their non-kratom/kava options are just as mediocre: the vanilla latte and other coffee products can be found a dime a dozen anywhere else. Environment and Atmosphere: The location is very small and couches ARE NOT CLEANED EVER! For the entire duration of my time as a regular, not ONCE did they clean the couch or chairs. There are stains, animal fur, and I witnessed a cat relieving itself one of the cushions and I know for certain that It wasn’t cleaned. Considering how packed the place gets, the bathroom has a queue that extends the entire length of the business. Additionally, it makes having a conversation next to impossible. Conclusion: the staff is incredibly rude, with Christian as the manager, the environment of tolerating inappropriate advances on customers will permeate from the top down (not safe for young gay men). The drinks are nothing special with limited kratom flavoring and mediocre kava. I’ve known staff for quite some time and observed as they would belittle customers for things that any empathetic and reasonable adult would consider immature (which sums up staff quite appropriately).

EDIT: i still come here, nearly every day, and each day my love for the place grows. not only is every single employee more than kind, the regulars are the sweetest, and i only find myself having a good time while i’m there. i truly find myself caring about the employees, and it feels like they truly care for me too. i can’t recommend this place enough. -original review- i love this place so much. it’s such a chill vibe with amazing employees (shoutout to the kavatenders for making every experience amazing) and i love going here with my friends just to relax and have a good time. there’s always a ton of events going on (trivia, gaming fun, student night, holiday parties etc.) and lots of opportunities to get rewards, discounted drinks and other prizes. i always have such a great time and genuinely love being there. this is absolutely my happy place :D

Before I begin. I hope this message comes across in a more constructive way. I have spent a lot of time and money at muddy root for the last two years. I loved everything about it. So there is nothing wrong with the store itself. Sure the smell can be better (granted it’s a smaller store so I understand) and the stains are questionable on the couches but muddy was my place. Now when I walk into the store there’s fumes of negativity. I have seen how some of the regulars were treated and it was jaw dropping. I have seen how previous kava tenders were treated and it’s jaw dropping. This safe place of mine became more of a place that made me want to find a safe place. I believe with proper training of etiquette and professionalism, the muddy team can make it a more hospitable environment. They need to learn to keep the B.S at the door. Or they are going to (and have) lose regulars. Like me

Been going here for almost a year now. These new 1star reviews are fake and childish. All the kavatenders are genuinely pleasant to be around, they chat with absolutely everyone, ask you how you are doing, and really go out of their way to make this place enjoyable. I’ve been to over 5+ kava places outside of the state of FL. I have been through several in the great state of FL. The Muddy Root is known to kava-goers outside of FL. It’s one of the ones that get brought up in convo for how awesome it is. So to those review bombing. Settle your disputes like adults. Paige T, Paige G, Christian, Kate, Christina, Zach, and newly onboarded Richy are all awesome.

TLDR: Fake reviews & even faker kavatenders who openly snicker and gossip about their customers and owner. Avoid and run for the hills. Christian the now manager is known throughout the community for serving drinks to young college men, flirting with them to the point of absolute repulsion and still going, and to his dismay, leveraging his position to try to get something out of the situation. The behavioral is extremely predatorial and there are numerous personal stories by former customers who feel this way. If you shut down his advances, he turns you into an enemy. Stay away from his predatory behavior and disingenuous kindness. Any chance to make an innuendo and make you uncomfortable, he leaps on it. Another Kava-tender Paige is noticeably under the influence during work, takes them while working and openly talks about use of illicit substances. She forms cliques, calls her boss homophobic and will make fun of you behind the bar. Possibly the fakest person I've personally had the misfortune of encountering. Want receive animosity and eye rolls when you ask for drinks? Just ask for Paige. Oh, let’s not mention the racist comments. Run for the hills and go anywhere else. There are so many better kava bars in Orlando. I suggest you try out Elevate, Lei Kava, Island vibes.

I'm a regular here. The staff is phenomenal, especially Christian.. coming from a hospitality perspective, he gives amazing service, he's knowledgeable & so so kind.. everyone there is!.. I'm so grateful to have such a chill spot to be a part of, & although the demographic is mostly young adults (university students) It's a very welcoming & judgment free zone, which is pretty hard to come by these days. Even all of the regulars are super sweet & friendly to one another, along with newcomers. Overall it's really a cool experience & of course their product is the best within a 15 mile radius.. I can't advocate enough for this place.. if ur interested in the kava/Kratom life, this is def the place to start ur journey!

I was first introduced to The Muddy Root a couple years ago. Then, the kava was great, however the interior design had not yet found its voice. Nonetheless, I enjoyed spending time there with friends and drinking their kratom kombucha. I have recently come back and they have refreshed the interior design for better open interaction with others and the kava is still great.

Genuinely my favorite place on Earth. I've been going to Muddy for over a year now, and there is no place that has made me feel more welcomed or appreciated. The first time I came it had been recommended to me by a friend, and despite coming alone I felt completely comfortable as the tender at the time (Cooper) talked with me for about an hour in between orders. All of the kava tenders here are extremely kind and help the atmosphere to be inviting and warm. This is a great place to just sit and study by yourself, but its also a great opportunity to have conversations with new people about pretty much anything. It never feels intimidating to join in on a discussion and most everyone who comes is welcoming to new patrons. Come enough and you'll definitely find your people. Also, as someone who's visited a lot of the kava and kratom bars in the area, this place by far has my favorite tea. The quality is always high and, once you get used to the taste, its a great way to relax and really enjoy the time you spend (I always recommend the green strain for newcomers). The coffee is amazing, too, and that is coming from someone who's worked as a barista for close to two years now. Cannot recommend this place enough, especially for students looking to make more connections in the area. This is a wonderful place to spend your time, whether to study or to meet new people.

Got a heady kava. I’m a regular kava drinker drink almost every day. Something was not right about this, it smelled sour like old socks and just tasted almost as if it had gone bacterial and wasn’t good anymore. It even had a slight fizziness to it like juice when it’s gone bad. Didn’t feel it that much and didn’t make my mouth tingle. just tasted absolutely foul. Need to double check the quality of your drinks before you serve the day. It was absolutely disgusting and I love the taste of kava but that was gross.

I have been going to Muddy Root for two years now and I’ve had nothing but good experiences! The kavatenders are so friendly and it’s so easy to meet interesting, genuine people! It’s a perfect place to study or hang out during the day, and I have met so many other pre-meds that have given me really valuable advice. In terms of the drinks, you can’t find stronger Kratom in Orlando or honestly anywhere else in Florida. Anyways this place is the best! So much love for muddy root!

Super lovely and cozy place to chill. I've been coming here over a year and they have good drinks and an amazing vibe, plus the people are super nice and friendly. It's a great place to study during the day, but it's also open late so you can stay and hang out at night. Highly recommend everyone to go, it's a truly great place.

Best kava bar I’ve been to, sucks there’s no ping pong table (I’d run the whole place 😎). I’d recommend going Thursday - Sunday 6pm- Close when Christian is working because he’s the GOAT. Also the Matcha Green tea with less sugar and French vanilla flavoring is delicious and well priced 👌
