The best fish fry we have had in lake country. We both went with the bluegill and perch. Cooked perfectly. The baby red potatoes were great. It was busy but they did a great job of taking care of everyone and moving people through. The best old fashioned I've had in the area and good prices, too. Bartender and wait staff were top notch and very friendly. We're glad we stopped.

Went on a Tuesday for $2 burger night and arrived early Pros: - $2 burgers with additional toppings being $ 0.25-1. - Dive bar feel - Waitresses were kind and engaging with my young kids - Kids enjoyed coloring squirrels for the wall Cons: - Horribly rude hostess who seemingly was only nice to locals. She was wearing yoga leggings and an oversized black sweatshirt. It was unclear that she worked there initially because of her appearance. Additionally, she rolled her eyes when my elderly father asked her a question. - No menu for the $2 burger night so we didn't order many toppings. - Restaurant is small and loud - Unable to accommodate food allergies Probably won't be back based on the rudeness of the host

Stopped with my wife along with family here visiting from Virginia. They had a hard time seating us as tables and chairs were not to be moved. Only one food ticket per table so although my wife and I only wanted to have an appetizer as we had to leave before all the rest of our group did, we weren't allowed to. Can't comment on the food as we had to leave. The staff were not friendly and it seemed that they must not need the business. Very disappointing, I will be telling the people I know that they would be better off looking for other places to grab something to eat.

It was very unfriendly wouldn't let you have separate checks and we felt very unwanted. We left and took our business some where else.

Went for the $2 Tuesday burger special. It costs extra for lettuce, tomatoes, onions, bacon, cheese, and fries, but ended up still under $5 for both my son and I, so I was able to splurge on the brownie Sundae. The Sundae was $7, but the brownie was enough for 4 and was topped with 2 scoops of ice cream and 2 scoops of whipped cream. Recommended my friends to come here.

One of the best fish fry ever...they had me at their Blue Gill and Perch combo! Lightly panko breaded, and the potato pancakes side was excellent. My wife had the shrimp with their homemade chips and said it was very good. The Old Fashioned was good and strong. It is a very small and popular place, so be prepared to wait. They open at 4:00. We got there at 4:10 and had to wait. Also, not conducive for a large group or young children. They do have a nice deck outside where you can wait. We will be back!

Greatest wings you’ll find! Very reasonably priced and served by the sweetest staff.

A line began to form outside around 3:45 PM with several guests waiting for them to open at 4 PM. The fish fry was fantastic. I also had an old fashioned that was spot on. The sides we chose were potato pancakes and potato salad. Our server was friendly and efficient.

Very busy Tuesday dinner hour for a $2 burger special. Food was good, a little slow coming out due to the crowds. Drinks were "off", but overall a good experience. Waitress is always friendly.

Not familiar with this pub so we decided to try it since their grill menu had more variety than you typically encounter. They have nightly specials. It was a busy summer Tuesday night and we did have to wait 45 minutes. Service was friendly and attentive once seated.

Came in for Wednesday wing night with the family of 7. We expected to wait because of the limited seating but we were seated within 10 minutes. Food was amazing, hot and fresh! Our waitress was very attentive and service was great!

This place is a must go to! Amazing food, amazing service, great selection of beverages and a great local environment. Friday Night Fish Fry is the best in town and I have been eating fish fry in the north woods my entire life. Just be ready to wait for a table on Fridays due to the amazing food.

A must eat! The squirrel balls were marvelous. Likely gained 10 pounds after my visit. Fish fry was fresh but contained fish. Was finger lickin good.( from my daughter, but we all enjoyed our meal, and service is always excellent)

Oh my, so good. One of the better burgers I’ve ever eaten and broasted chicken. Everyone in our group of 4 liked the food. The sweet potato tots were real good too. Taste like something they make not out of a bag.

This is the best fish fry in the Northwoods and fun conversations with our fellow customers as we waited for our table. And our waitress was super welcoming. We had the perch and bluegill combo and ate every bit of it.

I went on Tuesday for their 60-cent wings. It’s a nice small bar. Get there early, as it gets packed quickly. Do not go if you are on a timeline. We stood around and had a beer while we waited for our table. The wings were tasty and they came with 4 different dipping sauces.

While in Eagle River for work, talked to a local to get the scoop on a good Friday fish fry. They recommended the Nutty Squirrel. We laughed when he told us to get there at 330pm otherwise we'd be waiting close to an hour. We listened and by 329pm a few locals where already there waiting. And not just in their cars. Like, lined up outside the restaurant/bar. We got in line at 345 and luckily was seated at the last open table before the people behind us in line had to wait. But...people were still happy to stand or get a drink at the bar and wait for tables to open up! We got all you can eat perch. Came with Cole slaw, choice of potato, baked beans and bread. The fish were hefty size pieces. Lightly battered and absolutely fresh! The wait staff was VERY friendly as well! Even upon walking in the bartender had certain drinks for certain regular locals already lined up on the bar for them! Friendly staff, good food and priced well. It appeared there was outdoor seating available as well. Glad we listened to our local "neighbors" advice

Really good Friday fish fry. Did carry out, you must go in, they don't take phone in orders. We had both the fried haddock and the bluegill, perch platter. Nice light batter and great tasting fish. Will definitely go again when in the area.

Great food, good prices. All you can eat haddock is a great deal. Be prepared for longer wait times though as the seating area is small but the food is worth it.

My wife and I went ther for the broasted chicken, which was excellent, and ended up discovering the best jalapeño poppers either of us have ever had. We recommend it to everyone who travels that way.

I love their fish fry. There is an all you can eat option and broiled. Make sure you come early because it fills up fast.

Just enjoyed some 60 cent wings & fries. Came with 4 sauces and outrageously fast! My waitress Isabell was absolutely on top of my order and never had an empty glass of IPA. I will be returning on Wednesdays for the sensational wing deal and exemplary service.

I am not a Google reviewer. I don't like reading negative reviews, but I do believe that if you receive excellent service you should be recognized for it. We a party of 5 went to have fish fry Friday night. It was busy and we had a short wait but it was worth it. Fish was really good,crisp, and excellent flavor. Each of use had a different side so we could try 5 different ones. The vote for best side went to the chips. They were delicious and chrispy. We will definitely be going back. This is a must try in the northwoods. We are glad we tired it.

Holey moley this place is great! Came in Tuesday for the $2 burgers and they were good sized and great quality! The waitress was very nice, attentive and helpful! The onion rings were hot and fresh and they have great ranch too! Just be prepared because it gets VERY busy! Cheap beers too!!!

Great food (I had 1/2 Broasted Chicken, dear wife had Fish Wraps), good choices of beers on tap, outdoor patio for dining with Sasha dog, good service but no orders taken from patio, have to go inside to place food and drink orders. That's ok. Liked friendly diners, mix of tourists like us and some locals. Definitely will be back this week with my sibs and spouses, probably Thur for 5 to 7 double bubble happy hour again. Highly recommended.

Had my first Wisconsin sour old fashion here and it was great! Had broasted chicken with cole slaw, hand cut fries and a warm breadstick. The chicken was very tasty and juicy. Good cole slaw. Wednesday is $2 burger nite. Saw many I rsering chicken and burgers. We will be coming back. Friday night gish fry is supposed to be excellent. Small bar with about 12 tables. Go early!

Eaten there many times and had positive experiences. Good bar food. Like the broasted chicken. Today we a problem with food that sometimes happens. They went above and beyond to rectify the issue. Server was excellent in handling the issue. We will return for sure.

What can you not love about the squirrel. Have a cocktail where the locals hang out. Good times and great people. If you have to wait to eat, it's worth it. Best AYCE FISH FRY. Can't beat the price in the broasted wings and chicken. Stop out for nightly specials: taco night, liver and onions, etc. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault!

It was fantastic as always. The deep fried fish was piping hot and the french fries are the best. I really like the beans too. Oh yes the cocktails oh my I could stay there all night. I would say a 11. My opinion BEST PLACE IN TOWN

Down-home atmosphere, great food with extremely generous portions, friendly staff that treats you like family, and great prices for it all. A buddy and I stopped here after a long day of ice fishing, looking for a fish fry. We started off with bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers (all they had to say was bacon wrapped). We were presented with three MASSIVE jalapeno peppers wrapped in meat candy, stuffed with cheeses, and friend to perfection. Then, the main course. Both of us went with the perch and bluegill platter, because Wisconsin Friday fish fry is a tradition. When our food arrived we were blown away! Two enormous platters of food brimming with succulent fish and all the trimmings you could ask for. Amazing potato pancakes that require no applesauce or syrup. Delicious slaw. You name it. I was comatose by the end of my meal, and all of it was so satisfying. If you wanna go where the locals hang out, where friendly faces abound, and where the food will blow your socks off with deliciousness, them you just can't go wrong with The Nutty Squirrel.

The burgers here are awesome. The home cut fries were also great. We were there on Tuesday, a $2.00 burger night. The waitress explained that the burger was $2 and anything else you added was .25 to .50. $3.25 was good deal for a quarter pound burger with a couple of toppings. What we didn't know was that the fries and sweet potato puffs were considered appetizers and we were charged $5 for the fries and $8 for the puffs... ouch! They were great tasting, but $13 for two small baskets of fried items seems a little steep. The burger basket would have been a better deal! Overall, I would recommend the Nutty Squirrel, just watch what you are paying for menu items.
