Best music I heard all week. Straight up dive bar, but that's exactly what we were looking for. Great time, definitely going back.

It was closed at 10 pm on Tuesday despite the posted hours stating it would be open till 2 am, I made all my way here to find the place shut

Nice little bar on Frenchmen street, like everywhere they play live music in the evening, we came across a rather modern jazz group, good musicians like everywhere on this street. The place is quite small and there can be quite a few people, which quickly gives the impression that it's full even if it's not disturbing.

Oh spotted cat, how I love thee. A jazz institution that is an absolute must when visiting New Orleans. Every band they have is so talented and we always have a blast.

Spotted Cat is a must stop if you are in the Nee Orleans area. It is an icon and so much fun!! Music is amazing and drinks are great. Super fun atmosphere and great people. We love going here and always bring visitors here.

It's a bit of a walk from the city center, but it's a great shop. There are about 5 to 6 performers crowded together on a small stage, and it feels very powerful.

By far one of the worst cocktails I've ever drank. $15 each for two undrinkable cocktails that we had to throw away in the toilet, plus $5 entry per person. We fell for the tourist trap.

You have to go there!!! The groups playing there are really good. The lady behind the bar is very funny and efficient. The cocktails are a little expensive but I'll definitely pay that for the quality of the music. Loved it!!!

What a classic club to watch talented musicians doing their thing in New Orleans! A Frenchmen Street icon, The Spotted Cat has a cool vibe and good drinks. It's small, so seating is limited and you might be standing. We had the pleasure of hearing the Shake 'Em Up Jazz Band, and they were fantastic! If you visit NOLA and love live music, you gotta hit The Spotted Cat.

I paid $10 cover to see a really good Jazz band there on a Sunday night. It was an enjoyable evening in Frenchmen's area.

Fantastic live jazz music! But only about 15 chairs total in the whole place. If your feet hurt from walking around New Orleans all day, standing around to listen to the music isn’t ideal.

The place offers Live Music. Jazz. It was good to have the NOLA experience. We enjoyed a couple of beers there and had an amazing time.

Cool music club with 3 live bands every day

We were charged a cover fee without telling us that the band had only 3 songs left to perform. Bartender wasn't very friendly, drinks weren't great and served in a cheap plastic cup. Bar doesn't look great either. However the band was very good and the stage area was nice.

One of the great Frenchmen street clubs! Friendly staff, great bands and yes, it’s air-conditioned for those hot summer days. Definitely want to put on your list to check out, it’s well worth your time and a great stop day or night.

Way overcrowded. The bands were great, the bartenders were nice, but they allow way too many people in. When the crowd became so thick I was pressed against people I didn’t know I wanted to leave. They were very clearly over capacity and it felt very unsafe. I will not pay another cover charge to be suffocated in a crowd and unable to get drinks or even stand in my own space.

Awesome. Like always, the musicianship in this city is top-notch. Got a shirt and cup to go with it.

If you think it's chilly just hang in there, it usually gets packed sooner than later and the AC compensates. Good beer selection and awesome bands.

Was just not our vibe. Cover charge for entry and very few seats. People are standing to hear music, so they do leave when tired of standing, which makes way for a new group to pay cover charge to stand. Its rotation of cover charge! Just not our vibe!

We've been this venue in the past, but this time it was too crowded to enjoy. This was the first time we had to pay a cover, and there was a drink minimum in addition to a cover charge. It was very hot in the venue and the noise from the crowd prevented us from hearing the music. I included a picture of our view of the band (couldn't see it) as well as a picture of the inoperable ceiling fan above us.

Amazing jazz. We came at 2pm and it got busy quickly. Able to get seats but it is limited. No cover charge as we were there early. Highly recommend.

This jazz club is amazing. Always with a lot of people on weekends. Entry and exit all the time. The drinks are prepared very well and the beers are very cold. The music, obviously live, is great. That night a four-piece band played that improvised very well.

Stopped by on a Friday evening for some music and drinks. The band was great, but the drinks were mediocre and expensive. The high price of drinks on top of the $5 cover charge made it not so worth it. Cool place though if you don't mind spending extra money.

An awesome little bar with good live music!

Anyone over 6’ tall.. there is a good chance you will be singled out, laughed at, and discriminated if you go to this bar. I am 6’6”.. I was laughed at, called names, asked to stand in the corner by the bartender and after being extremely polite about the whole thing, was eventually asked to leave because I respectfully declined to stand in the corner. I was already out of view of anyone and standing 3 feet from the corner. This is equivalent to racism, bigotry, sexism… when I politely explained that I felt offended because I was being told that my existence was a problem.. they told me that my kind was not welcome in their bar. They then proceeded to laugh at me again. I left willingly and without any conflict but I left with a lot of emotions about my existence. I was told by the bartender that because I was a white man, that I was not allowed to ever feel offended about anything in my entire life. She had a shaved head (for anyone reading this that cares and wants to know who the bigot is) and was the rudest worker in any establishment I have ever attended. Several people came up to me after seeing what went down and apologized for the bars discrimination of my existence as well. They were also in shock and disbelief of the blatant bigotry happening here.. but since the suite I was born into happens to be white and tall, they kept quite to the staff. These are the facts.. interpret them however helps you make an informed decision about where to spend your money.

This is a really great music spot. It was recommended to me and I'm so glad that I visited because I enjoyed the vibe and the wonderful live jazz music here. Go check it out!

Super famous jazz club on Frenchmen Street made famous by the HBO show "The Treme". Sit outside at their parklet or go inside for the beat music in the world.

Great little joint to see jazz acts. It does get packed so expect that. Sometimes there is no cover. Other times it's just a small cover. Lots of other similar spots on Frenchman and this is a good place to start.

Didn’t feel that authentic given the crowd consisted of mostly tourists, but the jazz was on point. After finding out that Bourbon St was a party street, we were glad to find a place with more New Orleans music flavor. It was clear both bands we saw know their craft and more importantly as entertainers, they know how to tell jokes! The drinks were a bit overpriced me thinks: 18$ for a fuzzy vodka cherry flavored drink and a “The Spotted Cat Beer”, but at least the entrance fee is 5$ (if you arrive more late night it’s 10$). Would definitely come back, only drawback was that the laidback feeling from early night faded as the place started to get really crowded on a Friday night between 23-24:00.

Music listeners; get in the front of the club near the stage, and listen and dance. Chances are your cover charge will be meager so tip the bands and servers, each set. It does get crowded and cramped inside.
