Absolutely wonderful. First time ever visiting, and I've genuinely never had such wonderful service in my entire life. The food was utterly delightful, and the atmosphere felt very cozy and comfortable. Will 100% be going back.

Food was okay! Not bad just not Amazing, staff was really nice though :) and I like the menu diversity ( went for the Greek food)

I love trojan horse I grew up going to trojan horse, but not too long ago I could get everything for a great price. I got breaded mushrooms for 5.99 today and got a total of 7 mushrooms. Less than a year ago I would have gotten much more and if I knew portion sizes had decreased so much i wouldn't have ordered from them and I won't any longer.

Server was excellent!! Atmosphere is fantastic! Love the older look and feel of the place. The food was very good. Had the Greek sampler, gyro, Super G and the baklava.

Are you kidding me? This is the "Super Gyro". Over $11 for something I could get at Sam's Club in a frozen kit and make 5 more! Severely disappointed. Needless to say, won't be back! (Pack of gum for scale!)

I love this place, but the staff telling me how busy they are is annoying. Every time I come here, they're making excuses. Of course it's busy, you're a restaurant in downtown bloomington. Just take care of the customer. I'm editing my review from years ago in hopes this reaches someone. I'm still leaving it at five stars because the food quality is excellent. A must visit establishment when in Bloomington. Best Onion Rings in the entire world.

Every time I go there a server tells me how busy they are as an excuse for the bad/slow service to come. It's like they want to scare you away like Bevis at the drive through..."we're closed or something "

Gyros are really hot and tasty, and the service was quick. The brownie dessert was good to split and very tasty. Not too sweet, but very rich. Good stuff! A staple in Bloomington and one I make sure I get every time I visit.

I love the gyros and the fried veggies. The beer selection is good. If you start out hungry try the dolmas to start and the baklava to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Old timers will recognize frescos from the Earth Kitchen, and the porthole door and other nautical themed fixtures left over from when the space was known as The Brigantine. All of the Greek dishes are excellent, but the crown belongs to the lamb and beef roasted on a split and served in the signature gyros. Price is modest and an excellent value.

Wasn’t super happy with our experience today had amazing cheese and pita but apparently they can’t control what’s on their website so they have things on there that are not available?? So instead I got the soup of the day which was a bowl of slob thankfully the waiter took it off the bill. The restaurant was just not having a good day they were out of several things like fried pickles, ice cream etc

First the pros. The staff was great, and the restaurant was clean. Now the negatives,, the food was just average or a little bit below. They didn’t have my favorite item which is calamari. So, I ended up getting two appetizers, spanakopita and hummus. The piece of spanakopita was very small. The hummus was strange. Most hummus is like a dip. This was very solid. I also feel that the menu is very limited.

Laughable service. I ordered takeout at 12:45 and after fifteen minutes I checked DoorDash, “pickup at 1:57.” I called to see if that was accurate but the guy answering the phone just shouted some gibberish and immediately put me on hold and hung up after five minutes. I called again, again he shouted gibberish then put me on hold. I waited five minutes then walked over, still on hold. No one greeted me, the guy who answered the phone was making food while two other guys just stood there dissociating at the wall or slowly pretending to do work. I asked the guy when my food would be ready and he said “I don’t know like 15 minutes at least.” I asked him to cancel my order, he ignored me. I asked him again, he ignored me again. I said “hello?” and he just responded “I’m a little busy give me a minute.” Neither of the guys standing there offered to help or anything. Phone still ringing. Finally a waitress came up to ask if I was there for carry out and I told her I’ve been on hold twice for the last twenty minutes after being hung up on the first time and that all I wanted to do was cancel my order. I was already charged, but after that treatment I don’t expect a refund. Clearly they don’t care about their customers. Giving at least one star because the waitresses there are nice and I know the Shelleys would want better for their business. Update: Got a notification an HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES after I ordered that my food was ready. I walked over and told the man and the waitress that I requested to cancel my order three times. This man’s response: “I told you I was busy, have you ever tried running a restaurant before?” I’m speechless.

Service is slow. Food was not hot and was greasy.

Absolutely DYNO-mite!!!! A busy Friday night, men's BB game at home We are celebrating a Bday party 6 of us Seating was an obstacle at first, but we figured it out. Lol, 6 of us at a 4 top booth, but it worked, we made it work, our server had a fantastic attitude about it, and all we embraced it, elbow to elbow! There were 6 people, 4 of which had never been to TH. Appetizers were hot and tasted fresh! Also delivered in a decent time frame from ordering Entrées were RIDICULOUSY delectable. Again, hot, great flavors, well cooked and seasoned. It was great! The table was quiet as we all shoveled the food down our gullets. Food was veggies, gyros, falafel, more falafel, more gyros, friend mushrooms, there is more, but I'm forgetting, mercy!!! We had a great experience and evening. Shame on me for not remembering to get our servers name, but she is amazing. 100% Wears glasses, this is a part time side hustle for her, i don't want to say too much out of respect for her, but she HANDS DOWN handled, led, and courted her way through our entire experience. She was polite, charming, friendly, down to earth, sharp and a bit snarky with some spunk. She killed it. We had ages at the table from 19-70, men and women, and we all agreed, one of the best experiences we've ever had. EVER!! On this night, for the 6 of us, TH gave us an experience that has caused us to make a noticed effort to go there more often and to tell others about it. Cheers!!

My daughter and I really enjoyed our meal this evening. We shared a flaming cheese appetizer, and the gyros plate dinner. Ambrosia for dessert was delicious and our service was great.

Not sure what's going on with this place but it's been a family favorite for us for years. My dad moved out of state and visits every time he's in Bloomington. Something is WAY off with the food but mostly the service. We were seated upstairs for a party of 10. It seemed as though the bartender up there was responsible for 2 other tables in addition to our table of 10. Didn't seem all that busy to be honest. Students were gone on break and there was plenty of seating downstairs; just not a table big enough for our party. After we sat down, the server came over to let us know right out of the gate, that we needed to be patient. We understood and were willing to allow him the time that he needed to regroup and serve us. It took 30 minutes for us to get our drinks. He seemed to only be able to manage one thing at a time. After waiting for almost 45 minutes to place our order, we decided to help him out and we hand wrote out the food order for our entire table while also dividing the order up into two separate orders so he knew that we only needed two bills and what orders were on each bill. For example: it said "check #1" and then listed the orders for that check and did the same thing for "check #2". We waited another hour and a half for our food. We had to walk ourselves down to the "to go" window to order more pita bread and to get silverware to even eat with. Never had drinks refilled and he was beyond rude. We literally did half his job for him. I get that sometimes things can be overwhelming and that restaurants are short staffed. If you can't provide service for 10 people, then tell us upon arrival that there will be a wait for 10 people. Then we could make the decision to stay or leave. But to have had the service we did not only this trip but the two visits prior...I think it's going to be a while before we return or even think about eating here again. Such a bummer too! I've been hearing from several other locals that their experience here has changed and that even the food has been questionable. Our food was fine for our visit this time so I can't speak on that for our visit for this meal. We want to support local whenever we get the chance but when us locals show up but the service doesn't....it's really tricky. Hopefully whatever is going on, it can be repaired and things can look up for them sooner rather than later!

This is a goto staple for our family when we're in Bloomington. The service is slow, but wonderful. I am guessing it is because they only have one or two gals working. It can also get a little loud, but overall enjoyable.

A Bloomington standard for over 30 years. Good food. Nothing over the top with quality or service. Nice wait staff. A little dark and cozy if you want that environment. UPDATE: return visit and just as we remember. Gyros were tasty. My little one did not like his burger (looked dry). Waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I ordered one of the Gyros and was impressed by the quality of their Gyros meat, but was really disappointed with the rest of it. The tzatziki was overall just nasty and the toppings were all very bland. I remember eating here a few years ago and thought the food was much much better. Edit: I went here again last night and they get a star back. The food was really tasty and a huge improvement on my last experience. My only complaint was that the Super Gyro seemed like a regular sized Gyro which is confusing since they also sell a regular sized gyro. I expected a bit more from that, but the food was great and our server was wonderful!

Great food, great mixed drinks, and perfect service! The atmosphere is quiet enough to easily have conversations. It has booths, which I like very much. It's a little dark for me, though.

We had a group of nine upstairs early on a Friday night. After a short way we were able to sit together and had a really good time. Everybody enjoyed their food and the wait staff was on point. The flaming cheese was popular

A Greek restaurant with a small selection of Greek food. But they have hamburgers and fish tacos - which is Mexican food. Perhaps the owners are confused and not good in geography. A disappointment. Perhaps they should take a geography class - Greece is a country in Europe. :-( 😠 Further since the management read my review and made an idiotic response, I did not enjoy my experience here and I will never eat here again. When I go to a Greek restaurant I want to eat Greek food - not hamburgers or fish tacos YOU MORONS. A mainstay for Bloomington featuring Greek food. I went here as a student at IU and again as a visitor. Love the food, staff, and atmosphere.

The staff was super sweet, unusually busy afternoon for them but staff hustled their butts off to make sure service was quick and satisfactory! We will be back!

The food is amazing overpriced but good- the staff is pretty bad. The waitress is friendly and professional, but help you if you order to go they're so rude and just make you feel like you're in their way standing still. Eat in the restaurant and enjoy the falafel or other delicious food.

Ordered a Gyro...Was very good...Didn't 5 star because the meat was plentiful but dry...

This is the best gyro sandwich I have had since living in Indiana! I had the Super G sandwich (with extra meat and vegetables). The pita is warm and fluffy. The meat (shaved off of a spit) has a robust lamb flavor, not too salty. The zaziki sauce has a tangy Greek yogurt flavor and a good consistency—-not too runny and not too thick. The onions are mild. I had the fries as a side. They are hand cut and very potato-y tasting, fried to crispy perfection. I had the iced tea which offered properly brewed iced tea flavor. Our waitress, Pat, was cheerful and attentive. It was a wonderful lunch experience.

If I lived a lot closer to Bloomington, Indiana than I do, I would eat here way more often. As it is, it will live on my To Do list the next time I get up I-69 to Bloomington. I live in a town with four or five gyro places, all of them Sam's, and the Trojan Horse beats all of them. The interior has the heavy woodwork of a local landmark that should not remodel lest it screw up the feeling of the place. The service was excellent, even though I think I was literally the only customer in the place. I was there at that dead time after lunch but before people show up for dinner. The gyro is of course the highlight of the menu, and the fries are absolutely worth getting that far off the Interstate for. Very highly recommended.

Trojan Horse or TroHo, as my friends and I call it, is a Bloomington staple. I've been dining here since the mid 1980s and will dine at the "Horse" when I can, well into the future!!! Wow. Even the worst street cart food I've had in NYC is better than what I've had here. The gyro was almost inedible. The meat inside should be the picture they use in the dictionary for "mystery meat", tasted like wet cardboard picked out of a sewer grate. If you made Play Doh into a pita shape and swapped it with the pita from here, no one would notice the difference. It was so limp and half baked, had no rise to it whatsoever. The black bean hummus was sour, somehow (I'm guessing someone was overzealous with the lemon juice). If I wasn't absolutely starving, I would've just thrown it all out. Family trip to the area. Cute atmosphere and friendly staff. Waitress oversold how flavorful food was. Mediterranean salad with chicken was tasty. Half order was plenty for lunch with some leftover mainly because there a ton of chickpeas in there. Gyro sandwich and pork sandwich were just ok. They didn’t have a lot of filling in the sandwiches and flavor of the meats was rather bland. Would probably pass on this place. Feel there’s better places to go.
