This place is legitimate. Don’t let the over enthusiastic reviews fool you, the food is even better than let on. So lucky to have this restaurant close to me. Portions feel huge too. In a city with great sandwiches the pupusa sandwich holds its ground. 5/5.

My God, the guacamole with the harina tortilla chips were so good. The ambiance made me feel like I was in another country. I loved the bachata music. Our food was good and tasted even better the next day. Fish was a little dry and the soup could have been spicier, but we left with full bellies and enjoyed it regardless of that. I will definitely be back!

Hands down best food you can get in area. I grew up here and the Cajun food is no match for their food. Delicious in every single way.

My family & I went to try this place out and food was delicious. We all got different dish and everyone really enjoyed their food. Also the drink I got was delicious and highly recommend (guanabana-mora)

Very delicious food and attention

I came to New Orleans for work and as always when I can I look for honduran food. I found Tia Maria's Kitchen and I decided to try it...I liked and enjoyed it so much I came back a 2nd time...and if I had a chance, I'd come back a third and a fourth. Here's why....when you are from Honduras and you grew up with a mom and Tias and abuelas that KNOW how to cook you know how food should be prepared and taste. The Campesino breakfast was on point! Loved it! It had the sweet plantains, eggs, refried beans fried cheese, crema and a delicious pork chop...ah, and the homemade style corn tortillas. I was in heaven! Everything was on point! I also ordered 2 baleadas to go for breakfast the next day, have to admit, they never made to the next day! LOL. They were also delicious! Right amount of refried tasty beans, crema, cheese and scrambled eggs. Very filling too, be ware, they are big and satisfying. The next day, I came in for early dinner- I had a nice tall glass of horchata that had that taste I remember of peanuts, rice and cinnamon. Ugh, I wanted a gallon of it! For my dinner I ordered El Ceibeño with fried chicken. Wow! Don't tell my mom or tias but, it was better than theirs! LOL. Absolutely delicious! Nothing to critique or that I didn't like. The staff is also great, the owners Tia Maria and her son, so personable and friendly. I know any time I come to New Orleans I will be visiting...and if you are in town and looking for honduran, Salvadoran Nicaraguan or just central American food, this is the place. The menu is varied but limited to the best items that are a must! Prices are fair and decent...and the portions, see my pictures and judge for your self. I will be back!

This place is phenomenal and only 2 years old! Honduran food with some Nicaraguan influences. The Chefs are almost exclusively women and theres huge windows you can see into the kitchen where they handmake tortillas. The sweet plantains are the best in New Orleans and they just recently started serving cocktails. Really special find and worth the trip down Tulane.

I’ve been here several times and the food is always amazing. Love the Papusa sandwich & San Pedro Maduro! I need to try more things but I keep getting the same stuff bc they’re so good lol. The horchata is DELICIOUS, some of the best I’ve had. The staff is friendly and the prices aren’t bad either. I don’t want to tell people about this place and have it blow up but I can’t keep it a secret it’s too damn good and Tia Maria’s deserves to be a flourishing business! 👏

Solid food the flavors go together so well and the service is really good. The only disappointment is that the atmosphere didn’t match the food. Need more lighting

Absolutely delicious papusas. Horchata has peanuts, so it’s a little different than “usual” but still very good!

I used to really like this place. I would order almost every week. However, the last couple of times I have ordered food, the ingredients have tasted like they have gone bad, and it has upset my stomach. Twice now I have had to throw an entire dish away because they tasted like the food or sauce was rotten. I really hope this place gets it together but I would be hesitant to try it again.

The most flavorful food on the planet. I've never had Honduran food before but the combination of plantains, avocados, steak tips, relishes and rare fruity drinks made with tamarind was beyond what anyone should ever expect. Wow. And so inexpensive 😉! Id I lived here I'd be here every week.

Consistently one of only a few restaurants that occupy rent free space in my head. In a town full of places to eat, it is consistently great.

Went here today for lunch & my first impression was that it was CLEAN. The food was amazing. Everyone loved it. We had 8 people at our table & the service was great! I’ll definitely be back.

This is my new favourite restaurant in New Orleans. Me and my girlfriends grabbed to go and had picnic by the bayou and we were amazed by the food. You must get the pupusa sandwich with plantains. It was incredible!! Highly reccommend this place

They followed directions pretty well and my food on Uber eats arrived quickly and well packaged! I was most pleasantly surprised at how good the horchata espresso was and loved all of my pupusas. Would visit again!

I arrived with a group of 6 people and we were immediately seated. The prices were very affordable, the food was delicious, and the portions were filling. I ordered the desayuno simple with a flower tortilla on the side , and it was delicious. The tortilla and refried beans were some of the best I've had. I want to go back!

Pupusa breakfast sandwich was out of this world! It's probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!

The best Honduran food. a delight

The only thing tasty was the horchata but there are no free refills. The fried plantains tasted very starchy (not ripe). The pupusas were just so-so… and the curtido is NOT curtido just chopped up cabbage no flavor or anything. I got fooled by the reviews.

delicious food, great service! tried things and combos i’ve never had before and will definitely be back — there are so many things left to try! service was quick, the guy helping us was really nice. food was also extremely affordable, totally worth it. menu is mostly in spanish lol, but we googled and got through it/just chose randomly and it worked out! we got the maduro with frijol and crema, the beleadas, and the pupusas. location is a little weird in that there’s not a lot around it, but you can park right in front if you want to.

Absolute best quality Honduran food I've had around. I've been to many Honduran restaurants on the east bank and west bank around New Orleans. This one, by far, is on another level of quality and flavor. You know they take pride in having quality food sources and their cooking when they have a large open window to watch them make their delicious tortillas all by hand. If you have anyone in your life that you would like to introduce Honduran food to but at also a great price, this would be a perfect place to do it. Best overall, Baleadas I've had are from here. Their Aguas frescas are great too!

Tía Maria's is such a great place to eat Honduran food. The food is always prepared very well and the service is excellent. I had a large order for 50+ students, and this restaurant made the large order with bo problems. Everything was a success! I highly recommend Tia Maria's Kitchen.

Ate here twice already and this place is a Hispanic gem. In terms of food and authenticity, this place is the better Hispanic restaurants in town. No Tex-mex, no over-the-top decorations, just a simple restaurant with great food. Their maraguya (passion fruit) and mora (black berry) juice are amazing! You can't go wrong with either the combo lempira or miramar, balaedas are huge, and their enchiladas on fried tortillas are also great. If you're looking for food Hispanic/Honduran food, this is the place to go.

It's literally the best Hispanic food I've ever had! They make EVERYTHING from scratch when you order it. Nothing is pre-made. Nothing comes out of a bag/can. Absolutely delicious. Great friendly service.

After leaving mass at St Joseph's Sunday morning, me and my buddies came across this restaurant on Tulane, and now it's one of our favorite spots. I had the pupusa breakfast sandwich, with egg over easy, chorizo and fried plantains. It was the perfect breakfast sandwich. They make the pupusa fresh in house, as well as the tortillas. Best Honduran restaurant I've been to in a long time.

Tasty food, nice presentation, proper service, great portion… I recommend the fried ripped plantains, the fried yucca, and the combo (chicken, meat, and shrimp). The rice is definitely a good option as well… Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in or visiting New Orleans!
