Food was amazing. I got the hibachi. My boyfriend got the garlic ramen. And we got the playboy sushi roll.

Excellent value, food was tasty and service was speedy. They have good lunch options. I got the bento box with sashimi, gyoza and takoyaki.

Specialty sushi rolls are amazing! But I won't order the ramen again.

Authentic Japanese cuisine! Comparative to koto buki in terms of taste of the sushi, but more fair of price in my opinion. Our server was very nice, attentive and polite. The dining space could use an upgrade as the inside looks a bit dated style wise in my opinion. Fully enjoyed our date night here!

Some of the best ramen! The bone broth was so rich and flavorful! The pork belly was cooked to perfection, tender, and seasoned well. So happy to have a ramen place close to home. I have been searching for good authentic ramen, and they knocked it out of the park.

We usually order takeout but decide to check out the new addition. Service was quick and friendly. The sushi was fresh and delicious as expected.

We went to this place bc we wanted sushi and Domo was closed. We weren't sure what we were getting into based on the paint job on the inside, but we were very pleasantly surprised. I got the Combo for one and my husband got the sashimi deluxe. Cuts were fresh, delicious, and presented artfully. Also much less expensive than other area places charge.

I go here every week with my mom. The food is good and always fills me up perfectly. The lemonade is delicious and the sashimi is great. Also the miso soup is always warm and bursting with flavor

Very delicious Japanese Cuisine in the Toledo, Ohio Area! The quality of food stands next to the great quality people that make it. Sushi and Hibachi are very good. The place is small and doesn't look as much, but I can assure you that this establishment packs a punch in flavor!

This remains my favorite place to eat in toledo. The food is amazing no matter what you get, form sushi to ramen, and it's all very reasonably priced. Whenever anyone visits, we always hit up Tougen.

Really great sushi spot! Wide selection of different Japanese foods. I recommend the shrimp shumai as a starter, and the yakisoba noodles are another recommendation. All of the sushi is amazing. The omurice is alright, just tasted like ketchup fried rice folded up in an omelet. The ramen is really good. The service is slow, but that's because they usually only have one waitress, and thats a bit difficult when all the tables are full, on weekends usually. There arent a lot of tables, and sometimes there is a wait, and with it being kind of a tight space, I dont think anyone who gets overstimulated would enjoy this restaurant during the weekend.

I moved into the area a couple years ago and while renovating the house I noted a lot of places close at 8pm on Central so Tougen, open past 9, was my default nightly dinner. It's now my favorite place and I am a regular. With 4 asian places in a 1/2 mile this one has the best value and variety on the menu. The beer is cold and the food is consistently good with fast service. I'd call it a hole in the wall as it's back off Central behind City BBQ but it's worth the short detour to visit. My favorites: Shoryu ramen with pork belly, shrimp yakisoba, beef skewers and every roll I have tried. The Gyoza is a great starter. An honest 5 stars.

The dining area was A little dingy , the food was to dry . But the staff were quick ,friendly, and on point . Feels more like a Japanese biker bar.

The food is amazing!! Sushi is so good and so worth it! All the servers and waiters are so nice and very fast. I came here for the first time and the waiter was so funny and sarcastic it was because I was taking too long ordering and he made a whole joke about it I don't see why people see it as rude. I find it very entertaining that he was making fun of me for being indecisive. I asked for take out box, and he handed me a whole box as a joke it was very funny and literally! 10/10 do recommend

The food is wonderful, and they have many options for ramen & sushi, the portion is adequate, the price is excellent, I mean you get what you pay for, and the service was good. If you want to have a nice and cozy ambiance while you’re eating, this place is not for you, this place is quite small and just a very basic restaurant. But if you want to have yummy food to enjoy then give it a try. We went there for our New Year’s Eve dinner. We ordered gyoza, sushi regular, sashimi deluxe and 1 bowl of beef ramen for approximately $70-75. We like this Japanese restaurant and will come back for more food.

Moved out of town, but this place has some of the best ramen and sushi in the area. The pork bone broth and pork belly with 2 scoops of their in house chili oil is the way to go.

What a delight! Sous chef sent over a complimentary appetizer while we were still deciding on our order. All our sushi was delicious! The seaweed salad, house salad and miso soup was great. I only remembered to take one photo! It was as good as the presentation! Chef also brought out a dish (first customers to try it.) He made mushrooms with barbeque sauce. It was also delicious! Will definitely be back. Everyone was very friendly and the food was very high quality. We had tamago and my daughter commented that it was very authentic. (She lived in Japan for awhile, so she would know!) Highly recommend this place! (Owner is waiting on liquor license, if that matters to you.) Update: We continue to visit and enjoy the food! I've added two more photos from our lunch visit the other day.

This place is an intimate sushi restaurant that lives beyond the visual expectations. The sushi is very fresh, service is no bs which is fun. Have never walked out and thought anything less of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

WOW 🤩 saw a review that said best sushi they had ever had, and it was no lie!! Best such is I’ve had since San Francisco. Just randomly in Ohio what??? Phenomenal, fantastic, superb, delicious! Sushi lovers don’t miss this place!

Holy WOW. My spouse and I just moved to Ohio from the Seattle area, and our expectations were somewhat low for sushi in this area -- nothing against Ohio, but not being on a coast had us a little worried about whether or not it would be as good. I'm happy to say we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi at Tougen Japanese Restaurant! The salad and miso soup were delicious and light, and the sushi itself was divine. The service was top notch too -- the staff were friendly and attentive, but didn't hover. Drinks were topped off quickly, and everyone was warm and inviting. We'll definitely be back to try more sushi and ramen!

Definitely a relaxing place and staff is very friendly. Their food is delicious! We ordered two sushi rolls and steak hibachi. Good portion sizes and not overly priced like other Japanese restaurants. We will be coming back!

This a Very good hole in the wall place! It has good prices and friendly staff the waitress kendra was very attentive, also owner came out and asked how everything was tasting epic in my book! We had both ramen bowls the shoyu (soy based broth) and tonkotsu (pork bone based). we also had the aloha roll witch was good it had lobster in it witch I love. Over all really good place I recommend it. I have been back many times. I really love this place. I've never had a bad dish here. Sadly I had to lower my review to a 4 star. The portion sizes have gotten smaller on the ramen and prices went up. The flavor is kinda still there but I believe a year ago the tonkatsu was richer and thicker. The pictures I posted is not what it looks like now sadly. At least for the ramen witch is why I come here.

I always go here for the ramen and it never disappoints. I love their tonkotsu the best. Some of the juiciest and flavorful chashu pork you will ever have.

Favorite place for sushi! Inside atmosphere is lacking, but the food is fresh and fantastic so we always order for pick up.

The best and most reasonably priced sushi and Japanese restaurant in Toledo. I just wish you guys would fix the sticky floor, it's a little off-putting. But don't let that deter you, they really have some of the most creative and tasty rolls in town that are very affordable!

Amazing little hole in the wall with the freshest, tastiest Japanese food this side of Sylvania. Fresh, made to order, perfect for vegetarians, vegans, and even those who suffer from PKU! They also serve meat too. They're very accommodating and very friendly. Prices are great here too, and the quality is top notch!

Food was delicious! The appetizers, regular sushi rolls and specialty rolls were so good. An absolutely awesome hole in the wall. It’s a small space so it can get packed but the food is totally worth it! Definitely coming here again. My friend and I shared the specialty plate that came with 5 rolls, miso soup and house salad.

Flavorful, filling and very fragrant. This was a first time having any version of ramen and I was throughly pleased. We will return.

The Tonkotsu Ramen is legit, seriously, they do a good job and it’s on par with most NYC joints.

Love it. Their home made chili oil is spicy and delicious. I have gone a handful of times and everything I've had every time I go has been great.
