This is the definition of a hidden gem!! The pulled Pork “bahn Mi” was probably the best thing I had on my trip to New Orleans. The salad had the sweetest cherry tomatoes. The smoked rosemary hibiscus iced tea was delicious and refreshing. Amber was so nice and made our visit even better. Would come back for this place!

Great to have a spot in the neighborhood with great hospitality, affordable drinks and solid food. Amber is the best!

This is one of the few late night places around the 7th ward that I enjoy. Amber is my favorite bartender and is a joy every time! And the Jerk chicken sandwich with the mango chutney?! *CHEFS KISS* - definitely a local staple!

Had a great time at this place. Food was on point and Jee really knew her stuff. I gave her a brief flavor profile and she whipped up and fantastic lavender margarita!

This is the second time I went (I never leave a review on a first visit) and huge improvements in both the food and the service. I got pulled pork sweet potato fries and they were absolutely amazing. My husband got the banh mi which I was skeptical of but it was also really delicious.

This bar does not belong in the area. Bartenders are blatantly rude and stuck up when I’ve visited with nothing but us being kind. Slow service for simple drinks when there are only 3 patrons. Food has gone downhill. When they got a new menu and gave it to me and I decided to not get food I was told “I see you can’t read”. It’s an excellent spot for a bar/restaurant for the neighborhood but it’s a shame it’s the atmosphere of Velveteen. I’d be happy if they packed up and moved.

This is such an awesome neighborhood bar! The staff and the regulars are so welcoming, food is served later in the night (hard thing to find in the neighborhood!). Love the vibes and plant decor!

This is my favorite spot to visit in the city! Great Lowkey place to watch a saints football game. Love the chill atmosphere, they have happy hour every day from 4-6pm!

This is low-key my favorite bar in New Orleans. It's off the beaten path so it's rarely crowded, it's got a mellow local vibe, great food & cocktails, friendly staff, and overall warm & welcoming atmosphere. It's always my go-to when I'm tired of the crowds in the quarter or Frenchman. Highly recommended.

I'm really not one to leave bad reviews so here's my first. Just left half my meal and drink after being talked down to for asking for extra chips. I ordered the crawfish nachos which came out very oily. It wouldn't have been a problem but the majority of what I assume to be house made chips couldn't hold the toppings. I was told when asking for extra chips , "well it's nachos." Yes I'm aware. You can still dry the chips of oil a bit before putting them in the basket. That might seem small to most but it would have been much easier for the bartender to just say "yes of course, was there anything wrong.,?" Very basic customer service. And I'm saying this as someone in the service industry. I said forget it and asked for the check. They really asked if I wanted it to go. NO I don't lol

The Lavender Margaritas are to die for and the shrimp and crawfish nachos are amazing! Lovely ,quiet place on the corner of N. Broad and Bayou streets.

Great food & drinks, great hospitality, great vibes. Velveteen is the type of place where you make new pals just by hanging out bc of the super friendly staff & customers. Excellent NA options but I added a vodka floater to the hibiscus special which was delicious. Can’t wait to come back :)

Excellent food + drinks + vibes! The basil matcha fizz (w a shot of vodka) is the best drink I’ve had in a long time, but everything on the menu is great. Also highly recommend the fried brussels sprouts. What a special neighborhood spot, Amber and Brendan are the best!!!

Had several meals/drinks there over a long weekend as it was near the Airbnb. Nice people there. Good drink specials. Food was very good but a longish wait if it’s busy.

Well I did not get the chance to have my branch there. We tried to book for a group of people prior one day as this place usually is busy during weekends. But the person who was taking the ordered messed up a little bit, she mistook it for a two-person table. By the we reaches there to have our branch, they told us to wait for one hour (No tables were empty and there were people before us in the line). We were ok with that and after one hour, when we came back, they said they have a table for two. We could not book again and be in line any more as we were hungry. So, I was a bit annoyed but I think this is normal in such a busy day. You might have a different and pleasant experience than mine.

Had a beer at the bar while waiting for my takeout and it was great. The burger, gorditas and spinach and artichoke dip were all awesome.

I love the velveteen lounge. But why are the doors closed? Come back! Pleeeeeease!!! Best drinks and great mix of ppl. Plus good food and all a great price.

This place is vibrant and played great music when I visited. Their small menu worked great for us and was delicious. They even have caipirinha, my fave drink. The neighbors dancing around the restaurant was my favorite part. If you live here, check them out.

Crafted cocktails like no where else. Staff is really knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. Take the bus over here. They sell bus passes, too!

This is one of my favorite spots in the city!! They have a diverse selection of drinks including zero proof alcohol and everything on the food menu is delicious. A workers cooperative, revamped neighborhood bar that is committed to highlighting New Orleans locals with hot/queer bartenders, what’s not to love?

This is the best bar I’ve ever been to! The energy is incredible. The staff is the greatest—extremely kind, caring, funny and fun. The patrons were equally enjoyable. I made several friends who I returned to see night after night. Drinks are unique, fresh and strong, and the food is divine. 6/5 stars for being an LGBTQ haven and the sister-bar of my dreams.
