Food and service was great! It was a little dark where we sat and hard to read the menu. It must be a beautiful spot during the day and in the summer. Update: Just attended a bridal shower there! Service was excellent and the food was great! Lovely spot for occasions!

My coworkers and I dined at Waterman Grille tonight and everything was amazing. The patio, the food, the drinks, our server Jolie. We had a great evening and definitely will be back!

I absolutely love coming here for brunch! The food is great and the service also stands out. The servers are really friendly, quick, and attentive. It’s also about the little things, like a side of jam being served with the toast and butter already on the plate. The atmosphere is nice as well.

Had a delicious wood grilled porkchop. Loved the cheeseboard and everyone raved about the wings.

Went for lunch and ordered a burger medium rare and chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was drier than the Sahara desert (had to send it back, next attempt not much better) and the burger was well done. Possibly the worst lunch I have had as long as I can remember. Too bad the Newport restaurant group typically doesnt disappoint, but they sure did today. Writing off Waterman Grille.

This is a lovely restaurant. The atmosphere was great and our server.Abigail was so nice. My husband had a mahi mahi special, which was excellent, and I had the pansered cod, which was perfect. Highly recommend .

Dropped for Sunday brunch. Abigail took care of us. The haner steak was delicious! The Waterman salad was amazing with dried peaches and clove plumbs. Wow!

We have been many times now we like it so much we are having our wedding there! Did has always been fantastic. Service is the perfect amount of attentive but not disruptive. We have sat on the deck and the dining room both good options. Deck is heated and covered. Did I believe is priced extremely well for what you get. All around great experience.

For a place that calls themselves a "grill"....They really struggle to cook any meat properly. The appetizers were all very fishy tasting, and if it's one thing I can't stand it's fish.

Food was wonderful. Kitchen was slow getting it out though. That being said I would go back for the food and atmosphere. You’ll need a sweater if they seat you upstairs

I was very excited to try Waterman. Due to not being dog friendly that unfortunately will not be happening. Children are more irritating and less well behaved than most dogs. I encourage a rethink on this policy.

I've been wanting to come here for quite some time and was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to go with a friend. The venue itself is lovely, especially if you can sit outside. Highlights, besides the views, were the steak and potatoes (unreal) as well as a refreshing white tea mocktail. The stone fruit galette was just fine and my fluke appetizer bordered on the flavorless side. However, the only true downside was the service which made us feel unwanted. Perhaps she was just having an off night.

I have to rate this restaurant as one of my favorites in Providence. It's tucked away from the busy parts of the city, offering a cozy and pleasant dining experience. Every time I've eaten here, the service has been exceptional, and the food is always perfectly priced for its quality. The dishes never disappoint, whether for me or my companions. Recently, I tried their Sunday brunch for the first time, and if I lived within a 15-minute drive, I'd visit much more often. If you're not sure what to order, just pick any entrée at random—you won't be disappointed.

The place is decent, and the food was tasty . Our waiter , he was fantastic, extremely accommodating . Parking was easy, and it's free. I recommend that you reserve a table a few days before, they do get busy .

Fantastic food and superb service at the bar. Take in the beautiful view over the water as well. The wood burning oven is pretty cool to witness as they fire cook the steaks to order. Make a reservation as it's pretty busy folks.

So we decided to eat outside when we made the reservation sadly it was 90 degrees when we sat down but it wasn’t too bad in the shade and they kept the ice cold water flowing. The menu changed pretty regularly but my wife had the calamari which she said was excellent and ate it too fast for me to get a picture of it. Her main course was a salad with scallops and I went for the French onion burger which was fantastic. Finished it off with a piece of carrot cake which was amazing. Jill was great and I would suggest asking for her.

Have always loved visiting this restaurant when in town. Was disappointed to see that what had been for years the best burger in town has been changed and can no longer be touted as such. The place is still beautiful and I still recommend but wouldn’t shout out the burger anymore.

5 stars no doubt! Finally visited Waterman Grille after it was recommended by multiple people, and it did not disappoint. My husband and I both got the grilled hanger steak. The char from the grill and seasonal herbs and lemon preserve made this dish truly delectable. I will say that the mussels (app) were just so so, but the flourless chocolate cake with banana caramel and sesame brittle certainly made up for it. To top it off, the service was exceptional! Our waitress even spotted my husband spill something on his shirt, and brought over club soda for him. We'll be back!

Went to a memorial dinner here. Everything was done right, and the location is great.

Overall this place was ok but not great. While it was only 6:30, they were already out of the Cornish hen dish. My wife’s meat came out not cooked as well as she had requested. They promptly addressed that. Also, the burger I ordered was chewier than I would have liked ostensibly because it was grass fed beef. Also, my fries came out lukewarm at best. That was also promptly addressed with a larger portion. They did offer a free desert as some compensation for our experience. As no one wanted desert, that offer was declined. I had high expectations but the reality was ok only.

Latest review: Firstly, I want to point out what an excellent server Taylor is. I see her rising up through the company is she really is phenomenal. The food was excellent as always. I could eat the hanger steak every week there as it’s cooked to perfection. Everybody loved their dishes. Where you lost a star 1. Bartender ruined two drinks- a Cosmo & a Lemondrop by making them both sour. In fact, Taylor had to walk her how to follow the recipe. 2. My friend requested a water view on the deck through the reservation system. What we got was the not so great loft facing a coated glass door. Listen, if you’re overbooked, call & say, “We can’t accommodate it.” We would have went elsewhere for a water view. The Newport Restaurant group management is slipping. Previous review- Consistently one of Rhode Island’s best restaurants. I’ve been coming here for over a decade and always have a great experience Last night we had Katie who was excellent. My favorite drink is the “lavender haze” and I hope it stays on the menu. The hanger steak and fingerling potatoes were absolutely perfect. What a difference a day makes where I can have a 5 star experience at Waterman and a 1 star experience at Patio on Broadway. Highly recommended

The Waterman Grille is a great place for a quality meal. The atmosphere is elegant, but a little crammed. The food was very delicious. The fennel and chestnut soup was incredible! What an interesting flavor combination. The fall panzanella salad is excellent also. All of the flavors really compliment each other. My girlfriend got the burger, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Gluten free is a must for her and the burger bun was great. They also offered gluten free dinner rolls, which were delicious too! They offered great portions. Our server was attentive but not smothering.

Stellar gathering of friends with Waterman Grille being the perfect spot to meet and dine. Our server Laura was fantastic, both engaging and on point. The cocktails were delicious, shout out for the fan favorite Miles Away tequila specialty cocktail, the Steininger Rosé was the best Rosé I have ever had, and the Passion Pit mocktail was also wonderful. Our apps were deviled eggs, calamari and the cheese plate, the plates were polished off quickly because they were fantastic. Dinners were wood grilled rib-eye, shrimp bucatini, english pea & goat cheese risotto, and the scallop entrée, everyone was very happy with their selections. Couldn't leave without dessert, we devoured the flourless chocolate tart, pistachio sundae and goat cheese cheesecake, along with the best espresso martinis in Providence. We left with full bellies and big smiles. Added bonus, plenty of free parking, lovely manager Ashlee and terrific support staff, everyone was friendly, and the NRG Fare Rewards program can't be beat!!! Great job Waterman Grille.

Sat at the bar, bartender was very busy but attentive to us. My friend had the tastey hanger steak, cooked perfectly with crunchy yummy fingerling potatoes. I sampled his. I had the scallops dish. Scallops were moist, cooked perfectly, but small portion and not well seasoned. The puree on the scallop plate was not complementing the dish at all. We shared an appetizer of delicious fried calamari which was also cooked perfectly crisp with peppers. I ordered a caipirinha, which was bland. Had a few sips at most. Im part Brazilian and this is one of the few mixed drinks I order when out. Definitely not their specialty. All in all, great atmosphere besides the man that kept hitting on my male companion. Actually followed my friend to the bathroom. Creepy. Not sure if he was an employee or manager either. Bright blue short sleeve polo, brown wavy hair. And he went out to the parking lot and watched us leave. ( he was still watching as we were out of the lot). Will have a meal here again.

My husband and I just had our dream wedding at the Waterman Grille. Alivia made it magical for us, and the entire staff worked together to ensure our guests had a magnificent time.

Wonderful dining experience. Cod was delicious. Cocktails were interesting and savory. Beautiful location with water views. Parking is a breeze.

They have a chef's dish that consists of three parts. The waitress rudely pointed out twice that it consisted of two parts and dessert, although she apparently didn’t even read the menu. As a result, instead of three parts, we received only two; instead of the third dish, she brought some strange dessert, which she quietly slipped into our bill.

They have very good food, a good selection of wines, and very good service. I have always enjoyed the views of the river from the Waterman Grille, but you have to be seated in the right area to benefit from that. My friends seemed to like their cocktails, too, including a mocktail that was made with elderflower juice.

Excellent place for a meal! Food was good, only thing we didn’t really enjoy were the French fries. Kind of hollow shoe string crisps with no taste. Service was great except for a few small things like waitress spilled some of my 12$ drink walking it over to me and acted like nothing happened. All in all it was a great experience and we’ll be back.

Never disappointed by the quality of food and service here. A lot of the ingredients were locally sourced. Our waiter was very attentive. We had a great time, everything was amazing!

Glad to finally have made it here. The food was fantastic. The drinks are very creative, and there were 0 complaints from my party (about anything). The atmosphere is cozy/chill and not too loud on a Sunday evening. Can’t wait to go back.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the “Jewel of the Nile”, well, Waterman Grille is the “Jewel of the Seekonk”! I have been going there for over four years, and have always had a wonderful experience, but tonight, on a Sunday, after 8pm, which is a tough time to deliver superb excellence, they did, in spades. From the perfect suggestion on wine, to the best grilled pork chop I had ever enjoyed, the WG shined like the jewel they are.. Thank you Waterman Grill.

Wonderful little spot, food was on point. Just a little loud in the lounge area. But an amazing experience.

Went here for the Easter brunch buffet and it was phenomenal. The asparagus was a tad undercooked but that was such a small detail to the whole experience. Delicious spread of pastries, seafood, salads, fruits, and a cutting station. The staff was very polite and professional. Absolutely loved it!

Place is extremely over priced. Food isn't all that awful, but could be better considering the high prices they charge.

We sat on the upper level which was much quieter and less hectic than the main level.

This was from dinner quite a while ago (apparently I had not submitted the review- I didn’t realize Google reviews picks up from where you left off) The food was delicious and they have good options for gluten free diners including gf dinner rolls. It took about 20 mins for those to come out, perhaps next time we'd call ahead for those. The scallops were delicious, and we loved the mussels- appetizer, and thin fries that came with the kids chicken tenders.

Food just wasn't that good. Disappointing actually. The environment is cool and hip but the food arrived too fast and without time for us to relax from drinks to plate.

Went there last night for a work event and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious!! I ordered salmon and, to my knowledge, everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals as well! The staff were accommodating and professional. I can only imagine how wonderful it is when it's warm out! I highly recommend!

This place is awesome. Located on the Providence River with panoramic windows. Unless you're sitting in the bar area, there really isn't a bad seat in the house since most of the tables are along the edge by the windows. The food is amazing and never disappoints. I've been here several times and have never had a bad meal. The service is also excellent. Owned and operated by the Newport Restaurant Group. Their staff is always very professional and courteous. They also have a great rewards program for all their restaurants. I had the hanger steak, and my wife and guests had the swordfish special and the grilled mahi. All cooked perfectly and to our liking. We started off with the mezze platter which was very delicious. Certainly a great place to go if you live in or around Providence or are just visiting. I’ve had muffuletta in NOLA, cheesesteak in Philly and every sandwich in between and I’m having a hard time remembering a better one than the chix salad I just had for brunch today!

Brunch was very good. Was a spur of the moment stop. Everyone was friendly and the food was very good. We never felt rushed or ignored. It was an experience that warrants a second visit to try other menu items.

3/7 of our meals came out incorrectly cooked. All of our meals were room temperature. Dispite all that and my burger being overcooked on the second attempt, it was tasty. No complaints about our service. I have been twice now to waterman grill, the first time was excellent and the second time mediocre. Maybe they just got a new chief and are working out a few bumps in the road.

Literally the best restaurant I’ve been to in Rhode Island by far. The best service — I’ve never been to a restaurant where I’ve loved EVERYTHING I’ve eaten so much. The drinks were phenomenal — the mussels, the calamari, the risotto, the vanilla crème brûlée and the monthly local farm menu were all superb. Cannot recommend enough.

This spot is always busy and known for its charm, its friendly staff, and its creative menu offerings. We were visiting for our anniversary, and we were congratulated on special occasion upon arrival. Cocktails were original and delicious. The Karen Elizabeth Calamari was top-notch. I had grilled swordfish and my husband had the pork chop and both were delicious. My husband completed his meal with a mango sorbet. This place will not disappoint.

We went during restaurant week and it was our first time. The food was delicious and so were the desserts. I got blackened cod with dumplings which were both phenomenal. Desserts are small but grade A. The waitress didn't bring my after dinner drink and later, when asked, said it's because they ran out of that liquor. You'd think that after sitting without a drink for 15 minutes, they would comp the replacement, but no they did not. All in all it was a good experience and I'll certainly return.

We have had some of our favorite meals in RI at Waterman Grille – and those who know food in RI will agree, that is saying something. Having recently dined on simply the best ribeye I've ever had, I feel compelled to write a review. My wife and I celebrate some of our favorite holidays and special occasions at Waterman Grille and highly recommend that you do the same. Excellent cocktails, classy, warm, and homey atmosphere, the service is always kind and attentive, and – as my ribeye can attest – one of the best menus in the Ocean State that consistently follows through on all fronts. The Newport Restaurant Group continues to excel. Highly recommended.

Waterman Grille has always been one of our favorite nice restaurants to go for special events over the last 30 years, but last night we were really struck by how many mouth-watering choices they offer, including at least 3 vegetarian options. To top it off, our waitress, Justine, was a lot of fun and absolutely passionate about all the entrees I asked about (which didn’t make it easier to choose). I was not disappointed in my choice, pork chops, which I wouldn’t normally order except for all the good reviews I read, and it was really, really delicious, the best chops I’ve ever had.

Service was OUTSTANDING!! Can't say enough good things about everyone. Good is wonderful, very creative chef. Lovely fireplace felt great on a cold evening and wasn't too hot. Just be prepared the bathroom is downstairs. They do have an elevator if needed.

From a vendor standpoint.. very tight space for there event area. Be ready for stairs and maybe the use of an elevator in a different building. Amazing staff.

OVERPRICED.. could have got a better burger at chilis. Waited an hour for a mediocre cheese burger that wasn’t cooked well done like I asked. Waitress was very nice only good thing about my experience.

Food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! We were there with our 4 year old also and they had a kids menu for him which was a pleasant surprise for an upscale place. All the kids meals come with ice cream too. Our after dinner cappuccino was great also. The only thing I could have done without were the 2 televisions in the bar area but it wasn't a huge deal. They weren't excessively loud or anything like that. More of a personal preference.

We visited with our daughter, son-in-law and our 3 year old grandson. The scenery, patio on the water was beautiful. The coconut creme brulee was absolutely fabulous. Gary was an exceptional waiter and it was my birthday celebration before the pumpkin spectacular at the zoo. What a wonderful choice. Every one of our dinners was outstanding!

The ambiance was enchanting, the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was lovely, especially with the scenic view. The outstanding service added to our delight. A special mention to our planner, Alivia Mussulli, who was incredibly sweet and always available for any changes or updates. She made our special day absolutely flawless. at first glance, the place didn’t look like a fine dining. staff attire was super casual, cups were dusty/not sparkly clean, the room was freezing, seating choices weren’t accommodated, so nothing too crazy. our server however was lovely and was kind enough to make sure we had a refill of bread to dip into the remaining soup that we had. but if there’s anything that stood out to me about the place, it would be the food. the scallops dish was quite delicious. it was highly recommended, and the recommendations were true. the risotto was perfect, but one of the scallops were a little burnt. still, it was super fresh, and the flavour mixtures were great. i would come again for this dish. we also ordered the mussels and the broth was delicious as well. we also ordered the daily special swordfish and it definitely tasted fresh. the rest of the fish meal was okay, but complimented the fish pretty well. the prices of the meals were completely fair. i have no complaints about how they were priced. the view was also nice overlooking the river.
