DO NOT GET THE FISHERMAN’S LOBSTER!! They offer you 1.25 lbs - 2 lbs and up! I got the 2lbs plus the fisherman’s for another $12 It’s $40 per pound . Very disappointed!!!! You are not getting a 2lb lobster but stuffing of scallops and shrimp with bread crumbs ! Was so dry!!! Was probably the worst lobster I’ve ever had at a nice restaurant! I should have ordered it plain without the extra fisherman’s etc Way overpriced ! No claws and a small tail ! Was not getting enough lobster meat but more stuffing. To be honest I should have sent it back but I was too embarrassed because I was with my in-laws ! Very disappointed birthday dinner!

The seafood was great. The server and kitchen were conscientious in dealing with some dietary restrictions in our group. The atmosphere was pleasant, just a bit loud. Look forward to returning again.

Went for a birthday dinner. Exceptional. The crab cake appetizer was likely the best we had. It was airy, not dense and perfectly seasoned and prepared. We had one Rhode Island clam chowder. Tasty and smoky. For entrees we had the stuffed shrimp and the tuna. The latter was high quality but just a bit chewy- which was a bit unexpected. Wrapped up with the flourless chocolate with a candle. Excellent spot. Excellent meal!

AWESOME! We stayed in Providencia for 6 days and this is definitely the best restaurant with typical food! The dinner starts every evening with their typical soup (delicious) and then they serve you the plate that you choose out of 4 options. The menu changes every day and what you eat is always super good and well cooked! They usually serve the dinner with the home made ice tea (very good! But obviously if you want beer or water, you can order them) If you want the dessert, it is included in the menu and it’s usually some island fruit with sauce or spuma. The cost of the whole dinner is from 30.000cop to 50.000cop per person.

The food was outstanding. I had tuna as my appetizer and main course. I actually enjoyed the tartare more and would probably consider getting that as a main course next time I happen to be in town. We also got a side of mushrooms which were good. Our waitress seemed a bit sour, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was just having an off night. Overall great spot and highly recommend for the food.

My daughter and I were visiting, and we had a flight to catch later on. Mia was an excellent server. We loved her, I thought the food was amazing too. The braised pork appetizer is enough to catch another flight alone, and Mia made sure that everything was taken care of. 10/10

Worst lobster roll I’ve ever had.

We stopped in for a few appetizers and a bowl of clam chowder. we didn’t like very much, but right away-our server insisted on getting us the New England version instead. Our server Mia was the best server the best server. Mia had a great attitude she was attentive at serving us and she made the experience a 10/10. The braised pork was amazing.

Fresh seafood. Great mash potatoes. Great Rhodes Island clam chowder. Great bread. Friendly service.

The dining environment is excellent, especially the window seats by the river. The outdoor dining seats are also good. The service is very good. The lobster food is delicious and worth trying again!

Loved our dinner out at Hemenways. Frank was an amazing server. My only negative comment is regarding the bread basket. Years ago they had a great mix of fresh pumpernickel, sourdough and cranberry walnut bread. Now it’s boring white dinner rolls. Otherwise an amazing dinner.

Perfect lunch spot before visiting Brown University! The food and the waterfront views are amazing. Our waitress shared great tips for parking and special events over the weekend. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic night out with family celebrating a birthday. Beautiful décor and we greeted with genuine smiles and hospitality. Our server, Danny, was outstanding. He immediately made us feel welcomed as he shared his excellent recommendations. The food was delicious: Bacon wrapped scallops, New England Clam Chowder, coffee martini (can’t remember name), Yellowfin Tuna, Filet Minion, Lobster stuffed with shrimp, Baked Alaska and Key Lime Pie. Everything was outstanding. Highly recommend Hemenway’s and next time we’re in town we’ll be there.

Family and I come here often, it’s usually very good. Today, the service was nice, we spent close to 300$. The main reason I’m writing a review is because of the coffee. I’m not a stickler for price, obviously. But 6 dollars for a to go coffee? Come on, that’s crazy. It’s a hot coffee. I honestly couldn’t believe that price, I don’t even care that dishes cost 40-50$ but I remember their coffee only being 3 or 4$. Just a very odd price hike. I ordered the bourbon pork, personally I thought it was too sweet, I didn’t really like the bbq sauce they put for the sauce, felt very cheap, pork was also way over cooked. We probably will come back, but just not impressed today.

Could not have picked a better place to take a chance on passing through from out of town. There are so many moving parts that make this restaurant a perfectly well oiled perfection oozing machine. I chose the three course restaurant week special starting with new england clam chowder and stuffed lobster and ending with the peach cobbler as well as an order of the calamari. All of the seafood was outstandingly fresh and full of flavor, it was evident that the chefs here are beyond gifted and cooking with pride and passion. Food came out hot and prompt, servers were fantastic, atmosphere was dreamy and peaceful. Could not have picked a better place.

Hemenway’s went above and beyond to accommodate my reservation request and made our evening wonderful. I reserved a table for my 10th anniversary with my wife and they had champagne and rose petals on the table. When we sat down I found out it was restaurant week and the service was still outstanding! My wife’s dairy allergy was carefully acknowledged and accommodated easily. The food was outstanding!!! ( especially from me as not a big seafood guy). Phenomenal all around!

We were seated right near the raw bar with a great view on preppings the clams, oysters, and lobsters. Our waiter Brian was friendly and made several great recommendations.

Great place to take your college student grandchild when you visit. I have been here twice with my grandparents and it is a nice balance of delicious food, great service, and reasonable pricing options. Would recommend coming for lunch because it is not crowded and you don't have to deal with other people in your personal space. Really good mashed potatoes. I always get the fish tacos and enjoy them. There should be something for most people, but super picky eaters might want to check the menu first.

We loved the atmosphere at Hemenways, but were not as happy with the food, and it also took us more than 90 minutes to get our meals. My son-inlaw ordered the Bouillabaisse and it came with no broth, The pasta was undercooked, and the fish was overcooked. The Peach Cobbler was served cold. The chicken we ordered was tender but not very flavorful. The server did everything she could to make it better but the overall experience was not what we have come to expect from the Newport Restaurant Group dining experience.

Hemenway's is a must for me whenever I return to Providence. It's always treated me well. The drinks are tasty (the best espresso martini I have ever had) and the food is delicious. The seafood tower is a must get and the grilled swordfish was great.

The seafood was fresh. We started off with Oysters Hemenways which was delicious. It was creamy, crunchy and the oysters were perfectly cooked. The fresh oysters were good as well. The hot seafood platter was good. The portion size was good.

Enjoyed excellent seafood dishes complimented by quality cocktails. Zlata was a kind and knowledgeable server who made our dining experience extra pleasant.

An outstanding seafood restaurant in the heart of Rhode Island. The seafood was unquestionably fresh. Their Shellfish Platter appetizer was amazing. Followed by their clam chowder and their pouched 2 pound lobster in butter. I can’t forget to mention their Key Lime Pie for dessert. Our server Nico was super friendly, helpful and accommodating. There are water views of the Providence River which was picturesque. The atmosphere was very lively. If you’re in the city of Providence in Rhode Island, I recommend you visit this establishment.

My bother and I went here last Saturday and I would like to share about our experience in the restaurant. First, the good thing about this restaurant is... probably that the servers are nice. (probably because they demand you high tips...) Except for that there was nothing that we noticed :( The bad thing about this restaurant is that all of the food are just TOO TOO EXPENSIVE! And the problem is that they are not that good either. We ended up spending more than $120 without even feeling full. I wanted to give 1 stars instead of 2, so this is me being nice. One last thing to mention is that you should NEVER EVER order a PAELLA, because you will never get what you excepted... It is too watery and the sea food is not even fresh. Worst sea food restaurant I ever been.

This restaurant is absolutely incredible! Food was to die for. I had some raw oysters and clams, mussels, lobster bisque, and seafood casserole. All of it was top tier ! I come from maine and I would say this seafood was amazing !

For background, my wife and I have celebrated most of wedding anniversaries at Hemenway's for the last 35 years. Yesterday's experience has turned us about. The drinks and starting service were great, as was the wedge salad and RI chowder. Then the long space before our dinner arrived and the baked stuffed lobster and the baked stuffed shrimp were over cooked and dry. Once our dinner was served, we never saw our waiter again. My wife decided to finally find someone and asked for a take away box and our check. A terrible end to our wonderfully celebratory day! Of course, we left a good tip because that's how we roll; but we never expect to return to Hemenway's.

This seafood restaurant near Brown University, is famous for its fresh, local catches and vibrant atmosphere. We visited without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised by the minimal wait time for a table. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the seafood offerings. This is our first time in Providence and it is a memorable visit. This restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers.

Our server Niko was awesome! He knew the menu inside and out and helped us decide which dishes would make our meal the most enjoyable! We are not from Rhode Island, but we will definitely back in the future!

Our dining experience was amazing. Our server, Niko, was very personable and attentive. The meals were delicious and prepared as requested. (My husband is Gluten free) It was a perfect atmosphere to celebrate my bonus Son's graduation. Also, the parking attendants were very hospitable.

My family and I had an incredible meal - The seafood was so fresh, and everyone said that the dinner rolls were the best they have ever had. My baked stuffed shrimp was incredible and we are all already looking forward to the next time we dine here. On top of the amazing food, the staff is also amazing and were very attentive and kind. Our waiter, Robert was awesome and we hope we see him again next time we are here. Can’t say enough good things about the atmosphere, the service, the staff and the food. Highly recommend 10/10.

Everything we ordered was amazing. The surf and turf was my favorite. The Lobster Mac and cheese was just okay, it was kind of dry. I recommend getting a different dish if you’re interested in the lobster (stuffed lobster was awesome). Oysters were super fresh. We had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes but it was worth it. They have a parking garage valet below the restaurant. One of the best espresso martinis I’ve had in a while.

Amazing restaurant! Food was phenomenal! Service was above and beyond wonderful! Our waitress Shelby was amazing. Very professional and attentive! We did not feel that our wait was long for entrees but Shelby felt that per the restaurant standards it was and gave us a free dessert. We were not expecting this and sincerely appreciate the attention to customer experience and maintaining standards. Thank so much Shelby! Highly recommend this restaurant, we will be back!

Hemenway's is just ok. There's really not anything remarkable about the restaurant. The food is fine, not outstanding. I can always count on it being serviceable and decent. The times that I have been there, it's always been busy, so people must enjoy it. With so many dynamic restaurants popping up, dining at Hemenway's just feels a little dull, a little flat. I'm sure it's a great restaurant for many people. For me, it's basic old Rhode Island fare and experience.

Horrible 2 hour wait for food and steak we had to send back for two of my guest. Mashed potatoes were unseasoned and reheated cold in the middle. Service sucked. We went for my grandmothers birthday she turned 80 and we left with more negative things to say than positive to be nice about it

Only been here twice but fast becoming a favorite spot

I ordered in from the office building next door. the food arrived hot and without a long wait. I ordered a burger with just cheese. no roll, no veg etc. they put the fries into the container first and the burger on top of them. I asked for the fries to be very well done, which to me means they will snap like a match stick when bent. the burger was medium as I asked. it had a lot of flavor. the cheese was completely melted and sat on the bottom of the container. I was able to scrape it up (once I found a fork) and put it back on top. the burger was 1/4 pound. they don't offer a human option, only this one meant for the incredible hulk after being trapped on a desert island. it gave me 4 meals. the fries were abysmal. maybe 5 had any crispiness. the rest were under-cooked, mushy and lacked salt. part of this was because the burger was on top of them without a bun. some fries were soaked in au jus. while that was flavorful, I had made my priority clear that crispy was preferred. they did not include salt, utensils or a napkin in the bag. they did include mustard and ketchup. why they did, i'm not sure. since I had spelled out exactly what I wanted on the burger, one would think they'd know I didn't want m & k. a simple meal like this should get as much attention from the chef as any other meal. for the price, every bite should be spectacular. and chef, an air fryer will produce very crisp fries every time. much better than frying in oil. I have eaten there before and loved it. I was all excited to be treated to this lunch, only to be let down.

Dinner at this place was a pleasant surprise—I can't believe I hadn't discovered it sooner. The calamari was a hit; we absolutely loved it! On the flip side, the highly recommended lobster mac and cheese fell short of expectations. It lacked lobster, and wasn't too appealing. Nevertheless, the ambiance was fantastic, and the servers were so kind. Highly recommend!

We visited on 5th April during our short stay at Providence. Shelby provided amazing service, we got to have one of their lunch mains - the shrimp with Brussels spouts and it was delicious. The scallops are the best ones I’ve had, and they taste so good with a touch of orange flavor. Knowing that my mum wanted spaghetti instead of mac and cheese, Shelby and her manager kindly offered us a refreshing lime pie. Overall we are super happy with our visit, and we will definitely come again!

Outstanding seafood. Went in without a reservation but we were still able to get a seating of 3 at the bar. Extremely busy but the bartenders stayed attentive. We ordered our appetizers. Steamed mussels and the Crab-cakes. Yum. A cup of the clam-chowder, then I followed up with the Yellow fin Tuna. Oh my so full. Great meal and I will be back!

I wish I had the server at the other table had she went over the special and was a lot nicer to her tables. I wish I knew about the tuna tartar nachos before I ordered the appetizers. Did I mention I am here to celebrate my anniversary? Anyway I liked the food maybe next time I will have a better server otherwise I'm not coming back at all

I was having a quick appetizer at the bar with a friendI before heading to a basketball game. While I was there I saw a couple that I knew and wanted to buy their dinner but I had to leave. Nikki B who was working behind the bar and very attentive had a quick solution that worked perfectly. Nikki took my information and made sure the other waitress handling the table was aware and Nikki also made sure everything worked as planned. I heard from the couple and the way it was handled was classy. Thank you Nikki for making a super experience at Hemingways!!! You are an Asset and we will be back!!

Hemnways is always a good take. The food is very consistent no matter how busy it gets, the cooks always do a great job.

This was our second time dining at Hemenway’s and we’ll be back again. Despite a clearly busy night around Valentine’s Day, we had excellent service, a well-paced meal, and great seafood all around. My wife got the scallops, which were exceptional.

Food was delicious but not hot. Neither the appies nor main entrees were hot enough. We had Waitress Zlana (sp?) the best server we’ve had in months. Very attentive without being obtrusive, welcoming, helpful, extremely pleasant. Had all the right answers to any questions. No matter what we asked for, she was able to accommodate us. Seemed to love being there! Desserts delicious, made on-site and since temperature not a factor, perfect.

Everything was excellent-the service, the tuna tartare, the Alaskan king crap, the wedge salad, the scallops and the banana dessert. All cooked and presented with perfection! Kira our waitress, didn’t miss a beat-she was fantastic; friendly and very attentive.

Baked stuffed lobster very good as was the pan fried salmon and salads. Not sure why, but waitress brought out hot towels during appetizers and not after lobster dinner but otherwise she was very good?

Been here several times. Food and ambience is outstanding. The reason for the lower score this time is that some seating manager decided to swoop in two hours into eating our meal he took away our plates of food! I’ve never had anyone rush us where I’m spending over $400 to celebrate my son’s birthday.

Excellent food and experience. Classy digs, but not stuffy or pretentious. Food is wonderful. Get the Stuffies, a Rhode Island regional dish. Excellent soups, great entrees, everything is so fresh and delicious. Get the Key Lime Pie, it is 5 stars

We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner here. The food and beverages was great! and the Baked Alaska for desert was one of the best deserts i have ever had. Quite the presentation. Our waitress/Server Nancy was outstanding! She had very good recommendations and gave us the time needed to dine and not feel rushed. We had a wonderful overall experience and it made for a Happy Valentine’s Day dinner.

Seated right on time for a pre dinner rush dinner. Service was excellent albeit they did not inform us of any dinner specials just specials on drinks. Drinks came quick, appetizer followed quickly and our mains came out just the same. Overall a very good dining experience with great food to match

We've been going to Hemenway's Restaurant for several years. There has not been a visit where we were disappointed. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent. The time there is well spent. We look forward to the next visit.

Love the food and staff. Just had to way to long in spite of having a reservation. But other than that, I love it!
