Wentworth Homemade Ice Cream - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

I consider Wentworth's the best in the state. Some others come close to them but not quite. I'm still searching for an equivalent. Prices are a bit high. I can see why some families can't afford to go there.

Met nice gentlemen while having the BEST ice cream

Been going here for years at this point and imo it’s the best ice cream in Connecticut by far. 11/10 would recommend :)

Generous portion. Rich and creamy texture and delicious flavor. Cool inside despite it being above 90 outside. No waiting and an attentive staff.

Such a great place! The actual building is super beautiful and cozy. Stopped by right at opening and were greeted by friendly and incredibly helpful staff. They offer a variety of homemade and delicious flavors; we picked the three Oreo flavors (choc caramel, choc brownie, and original). They were all exceptionally creamy and sweet. We’re sure to go back again! Check it out if you’re nearby.

Good ice cream. I can recommend the coffee Oreo. The outdoor seating is lovely too. Allergy precautions are limited and inconsistent. Anyone with severe allergies would probably have to avoid because risk of cross contamination is high

Great ice cream, very rich and amazing texture. I got the banana fudge with nuts and strawberries. Service could be better tho idk why the young lady was yelling across the counter like we weren’t in front of her, other than that would come again!

This place was fantastic! Great atmosphere and a very popular place. Staff were helpful with all of my questions. Offers a great variety of flavors and space outside to enjoy it. I got the Mocha Chocolate Lace ice cream. It was delicious. It is chocolate ice cream with coffee beans in it. I also got whipped cream topping.

Portions are the exact opposite of skimpy, so you get more than what you paid for, and it certainly helps that what you paid for is fantastic ice cream.

Wentworth ice cream has been my favorite for the past 25 years. It’s the best!

Their ice cream is delicious, definitely worth a trip out. They also have delicious ice cream cakes. Be sure to provide a little lead time for a cake purchase, and they will have it ready to go for you. I like to order mine about a week ahead of time.

I rarely leave reviews but we visited Wentworth's for the first time yesterday as a family with our young son. The person who helped us who was working behind the counter was annoyed that we asked about an allergy (peanut allergy, who I was with is very allergic) and was grumpy and rude around our young son, which is inappropriate. They said that the ice cream scoops are not cleaned in between different flavors and they did not offer an option for a flavor that had not been cross-contaminated with a flavor that had peanuts/peanut butter. This was our first time visiting Wentworth's and I was really excited to try it, but the experience was unfortunately very negative (most places have peanut flavors but are more friendly/polite, accomodating, or at least clean their scoops between flavors). I would not recommend them, as there are other better options in the area.

Rude. They use common scoops for all of the ice-cream flavors, which means all the tubs of ice-cream could have nuts in them. That's unfortunate BUT not uncommon -- no big deal. But why be rude about it? Also, why advertise things like having gluten-free ice-cream when the same scoops are being used in all tubs (same issue). We got an ice-cream for our son, but then I had to go back and get an extra spoon. The same rude person ignored me (but another young lady did step up and apologize). This was 10/13 at about 6:00 pm.

The ice cream is home-made, but they need more variety. I suggested they make corn ice cream with cinnamon.

I went here at the recommendation of my youngest who is in school nearby. I had the fabulous chocolate salted caramel oreo (with hot fudge). My youngest had the equally fabulous raspberry chocolate frozen yogurt. All the flavors look amazing and they have recommended sundaes that I'd go for with assistance. Portions are generous here so be aware when ordering. I definitely will go again.

I grew up going to Wentworth has taken me 19 years come back and visit home and the ice cream is still as good as I remember. I really appreciate that humongous banana split that you guys made me and waffle club and I had all of it.

Can't go wrong with homemade icecream. Great place to stop after a nice hike. So many flavor options and they had Italian ice for those that can't do lactose. My pup loved the K-9 crunch

Needed a tasty snack on my way home from work, so I took a little detour to Wentworth’s. This was my first time there and I was overwhelmed by all the ice cream flavors. I settled on a scoop of blueberry vanilla and a scoop of lemon custard. Both were delicious! The ice cream was so flavorful, smooth and creamy. I could have eaten a whole gallon of the lemon custard alone. I was not disappointed! And the staff was friendly and generous with the size of the scoops. I will be back to try more flavors!

Amazing homemade ice cream and shakes. Customer service is always friendly and efficient. Beautiful benches and picnic tables plus a gazebo to sit outside.

Quality ice cream and quality spoons - you can tell be the people in the parking lot before they're open. You think you're first but it's more like 5th.. I wasn't in LOVE with any of their flavors, hence the 4 stars, but they were all quality. The best I tried (of 5) was the salty buttered cashew. Also the outside sitting area is a very nice touch.
