Hidden in plain sight. Amazing cocktails and a food menu just the right amount of unique when compared to other great mid city restaurants. Really enjoyed the sweetbreads, short rib, and snapper. For cocktails, the Rum around and the First class were my favorites.

Great little Bistro. It’s a shotgun house on Carrollton. You really have to look for it. Sign is set back with tall bushes in front, right across from Vinezias (another fine restaurant). You have to walk up steps so not sure about handicap access. Also have ti park on street. Service was excellent. Food was great and different than the usual NOLA menus. Portions are small for the price, so no taking home for a meal the next day. It’s unique so definitely would recommend. Only gave 4 star for food because of small portion of salmon.

I had a very nice solo here dinner. They weren't very busy and I was seated without a reservation. Everything was incredibly tasty! The front entryway is a bit nondescript because it's tucked between two other buildings, but there is a sign.

Wooooo this place is GOOD. We had a date night (with our sleeping infant) while on a trip to NOLA. The staff was very accommodating of our baby, and welcomed us warmly. The food was fantastic. We got the baby octopus, pork cheek, both salads, flounder (daily special), and pierogis. Every bite was delicious. Highly recommend!

Do not waste your money. Food is fine, but way overpriced. The is a trap for people without taste.

Five stars aren't enough! This place is a hidden jewel in midtown New Orleans. Chef Jeff is an amazing cook and explains the food very well. But when you taste the food you would swear you went to heaven for dinner. This place is very underrated and easily a top Restaurant in America. This is from someone who traveled to every state except Washington, Arizona, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. If you are a Vadoka drinker try the Butterfly. I can rant about this restaurant for hours but until you eat Flounder cheeks you can't understand what I'm saying. Yes, I said Flounder Cheeks are flavorful and softer than wet tissue. The Scallops were amazing as well! 2nd visit Review: Once again, Chef Jeff has outdone himself with his culinary masterpiece. I had the pleasure of savoring the succulent lamb, prepared to perfection without even needing to specify my preferred cooking style. My companion, on the other hand, relished the Flounder accompanied by delectable potatoes and turnips. It is evident that no aspect of this establishment falls short of excellence; everything exudes top-tier quality. Whether you are commemorating a special occasion or simply yearning to express affection, this is the ideal destination for remarkable libations and cuisine. The attentive and amiable wait staff add to the overall experience. Whenever I find myself in New Orleans, this is my go-to place for a delightful meal.

Impeccably distinct for its food and service, Zasu is a NOLA gem. The imaginative flavors and impressive presentation make this small locale a must-try for locals and visitors such as myself. The service was personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. I particular like the lush green decor that elevated the ambience and sense of spaciousness. My only concern was the noise level once the house was full. It's my own issue and less Zasu's. I would absolutely return more often if I lived in New Orleans. Until then, it will remain on the top of my list for future reservations. Kudos to the chef, staff and bartender.

Excellent meal, would definitely recommend. Absinthe cocktails weren't my favorite, but the baby octopus and pork cheeks were really good. Will be back next time I'm in town.

A refreshing, pleasant surprise from the fried seafood found all over NOLA. The chefs here know what they’re doing. We got the crab fingers, king salmon, pompano and budino. All excellent dishes. I would skip the crab fingers for next time!

I’m 72 years old and I have had the good fortune to dine in many fine restaurants around the United States and a few in Europe. That being said, Zasu provided our group of 4 with perhaps the very best dining experience I have ever had. Each dish was prepared to perfection. James Beard award winning chef Sue Zamanick and chef de cuisine Jeff McLennon are certainly at the pinnacle of their profession. I am thankful for such a wonderful experience.

What a great meal!! The staff was wonderful. The wine guy poured us the most interesting Spanish white. The fish was perfect and then desserts were both delicate and WOW that was big!!! Can’t recommend Zasu enough. Perfect night.

#1 culinary highlight of NOLA. Stupidly delicious. For a moment I thought I must be stoned to enjoy the food so much (I wasn’t). I was blown away by the octopus and pork cheek appetizers. But was unprepared for the Ora King Salmon. I think perhaps the best salmon I’ve ever had.

This place was one of the best dining experiences we've had so far in New Orleans. The food flavors were very interesting and exciting, cocktails were delicious and the service was great.

Great little restaurant perfect for a small family dinner on a special occasion or a business dinner. Seafood is tasty as is the Spicy Paloma mocktail. Staff is friendly. Happy to return.

World class food, deserves a michelin star.

The food wasn’t all that good and super expensive. The pot de crème was so good tho.

Absolutely divine meal at Zasu. Server knowledgeable and engaging, atmosphere subtle and understated, very comfortable, we ate early (5:30) so not as crowded as I am sure it gets. The Octopus and Crudo appetizers were outstanding. Menu reads easily but does not prepare you for the excellence of what you receive. The specials were fantastic and attention to detail on dietary restrictions noted through reservation were spot on. Red Snapper Entree was perfectly cooked with accompaniments of vegetables that enhanced the fish, sauce and as perfect. Most definitely will be back. We were even presented with a small beautiful side salad compliments of the chef. 5 star 💫

Dinner for Two was about $150. Including drinks and appetizers. Get a French quarter high end restaurant experience in mid city. Have gone about 6 times over the years and it has never disappointed. Only negative I have is the 2 top tables are pretty close together so you feel a little cramped on a busy night. The booths are a little more spacious. The portions are on the smaller side but it's still filling and the quality and flavor is amazing. Also can't forget about pre or post drinks at revel next door. Another French quarter high quality bar in mid city. Would say zasu is one of the best higher end restaurants in mid city.

4 stars for the food. The octopus, sweetbread and short ribs were quite tasty. The snapper was fairly bland. Portion sizes were incredibly small all around and prices were high. This place loses a star for the poor service.

The food was fabulous! It was inventive and delicious. Service was good. Unfortunately, the dining room was very loud making conversation a bit difficult.

Best meal I've ever had in my life. There were 4 of us. We shared several appetizers and several entrees. Every bite was delishious! The drinks are great too! It's been almost a week and we are still talking about the food at Zasu!

This is a must try! Excellent food and service. We went for our anniversary and was greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne, such a special gesture. We ordered the octopus and scallop for appetizers, which were both great. We had the soup du jour, which was a sweet potato curry with crabmeat and shrimp. This was probably our favorite dish of the night. My husband, who is not a sweet potato fan at all, devoured the soup. For our entrees, we had the short rib and fish special. And for desert we had the budino. Everything was cooked to perfection and had amazing and interesting flavors. And a shout out to our server, Allie, who was sweet and attentive! Thank you!!

Amazing dinner! We booked 3 top restaurants for our stay in NOLA and Zasu is the winner. The Butterfly cocktail was the perfect blend of sweet and sour. I had the Braised Short Ribs and every bite melted in my mouth. I would buy a gallon of the Tomato Jam. Excellent. My husband had the Halibut special and it was to die for. If we had tried Zasu first we would have cancelled Revolution and Fins. This place beats them hands down. What a fantastic meal. James our server was spot on and kept us happy all night. Thank you!!

We very much enjoyed the agnolotti, sweetbreads, tuna crudo, crunchy green salad, and (maybe a little less so) the fried shrimp to start, and then had the perfectly prepared salmon. Top shelf professional service and nice dining room.

Exceptional dining experience. The food was lovely in presentation, the flavors and textures creative but comfortable and delicious, and our server was excellent and pleasant. The ambience was impeccable. I love this place!

So this was my second time here and not by choice. Both times were because We got invited by other people. This is a trendy overpriced restaurant with tiny artsy portions that will leave you hungry and with significantly less money in your wallet. The fried gulf shrimp appetizer literally comes with 2 shrimp. I knew what I was getting into my second trip, so I made sure we ordered a bunch of apps, and I even got a bowl of soup because I was hungry. The sweetbreads are literally like 2 tablespoons if that. The baby octopus was good. Two people at our table ordered the wild mushroom pierogies, neither liked it enough to finish it, and again, undersized portions. I personally loved the braised short ribs, but it was like 4 oz of food total, so I had to go have another meal elsewhere after this. Our bill was just under $500 with the tip. Next time I get invited here I'm just going to say no thank you.

Eating at Zasu with my family tonight was very likely the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The food was amazing (my family and I forgot to take pictures), I had the baby octopus and ate everything down to scrapping off the sauce on the tiny cast iron skillet it was plated on. I really enjoyed the crunchy green salad, which was beautifully displayed and salted/seasoned perfectly. The fish was also top-notch, I had the red snapper which was cooked perfectly and was bedded atop the best butter beans I’ve ever tasted. Also, the creme brûlée was a favorite amongst my family, not too sweet and with a beautiful texture. I really appreciated my dining experience, and our server Allie was really amazing and attentive. We were also very impressed by the sommelier/manager, who remembered my grandparents wine from the last time they dined there months ago to providing us with cognac-armagnac service along with our dessert. I highly recommend.

only in new orleans for 48 hours, only had 5 meals in restaurants, all were fantastic, but this was the best!

Mediocre experience. Environs lacks the charm of some of the other neighborhood places like Clancy's or Gautreau's. Food not memorable. Desert actually best course, but fish was small and overcooked with allot of salt. Apps pretty small.

Visited Zasu last night. Absolutely amazing flavors and atmosphere. Truly a unique dining experience. A must!

Dined here the other night. Whether it was the signature cocktails, starters like the baby octopus, and entree like the snapper, everything was on point. Service was attentive. Atmosphere was lively but chill enough to enjoy conversations with table mates.

Excellent management, service and food. Smart, well curated,price sensitive, wine list. Only complaint, place is a bit loud.
