The food and service was excellent, the seating could use some updating and repairs but overall an excellent spot ate there twice on my trip.

This place was off the hook good! Dead ringer for sure when it comes to any dish you want from Nawlins!~ 😋 Atmosphere was pleasant and low key enough to enjoy conversation. I had the Taste of Nola!~ you will not be disappointed. Yummy!~

After a search for the days food choices we decided on Zesty Creole. Which I found to be a great choice. When we arrived they had just opened for dinner and we were the only ones there. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Even though my wife couldn't understand him. I myself had no issues and was puzzled by her issue. He still did a splendid job and was very attentive. The water was clean and crisp. As usual, I tend to start my judgment on the quality of the water they serve. This has always been a good benchmark and still holds true. The food was awesome. I ordered the Crab Poboy and it had two full sized soft shell crabs. I have had blue crab sandwiches before so the whole crab didn't surprise me. It was delicious. My son ordered the Gator poboy and said it was amazing. As French fries connoisseurs we found them to be well seasoned and nicely cooked. The Grilled cheese was great and the Combo jambalaya was really good. All our meals were large portions. I also don't want to leace out the buttered dinner roll. We shared it between the four of us and it was pretty good.

Excellent introduction to Nola food The jambalaya, Red beans, Gumbo were accompanied by fried green tomatoes and a biscuit spiced just enough to make my nose run. Quite a few good options for vegetarians in the party

Really enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes on the appetizer sampler and the Gumbo was delicious. Atmosphere was rustic New Orleans and the waitstaff was top notch.

Even though one of the ladies asked me if my food was good and I said no, she didn't hesitate to take the plate after getting me a menu to find something I liked. The main meals were nasty, but we did like the crawl fish hushpuppies. Oh, and way overpriced. It was very hot inside. When I asked for more air, I was told that the owner was notified, but still nothing has been done.

Super quick service and great food! Food literally came out steaming. Fresh and tasty!

I had higher expectation the food was good the restaurant was nice. Maybe I didn’t order the right things . I had jambalaya gumbo red beans with rice and the best thing was the onion rings. Like I said everything was good just hoped for more with 4.8 rating.

Shrimp creole and gumbo - 4 stars (Downhill from here) Fish and shrimp basket- 3 stars Chicken tender basket- 2 stars (over cooked and hard) Bread pudding- 1 star. Overheated in microwave, tiny portion, & topped with what seemed like cheap, chocolate (fake) syrup Would never dine there again.

Way too much sodium for my taste, and a tourist trap.

I almost never give restaurants reviews but the crawfish étouffée here may very well be one of the best meals I’ve ever had, I was turned off by the price at first but it turned out to be well worth it, the employees were wonderful as well

So we are here on vacation with plans on trying Local Louisiana food. Our experience previously on the strip has been just eh. Then today we were exhausted so we decided to just stop here. No regrets. The gator bites with permessean cheese, damn! I ate the gator sausage poboy. The best po boy I had in my life! I added some BBQ sauce to it too. Fire! And the fries... yum.

Very good food and service - safe bet for tourists looking for casual place to have local NOLA cuisine.

This was the best part of coming to New Orleans, the food was AMAZING!!! In our short weekend trip we came here three times because the jambalaya was 10/10!!! Also the shrimp and grits was delicious as well.

I went here for lunch. I was craving red beans and rice, and luckily, they had it on their menu. The service was great. My waiter was very attentive, but not overwhelmingly so. The meal was just okay. It wasn't bad. It was just a bit bland. I was waiting for a burst of flavor that never came. The biscuit that came with the meal was good - fluffy and warm.

Food was good. Server never brought me change for my 20 and pretended she didn't understand me. It's very annoying.

The gumbo was on point and they had great customer service.

A hidden gem of a restaurant. Excellent service and true to its down home roots. The food is outstanding and the perfect choice over white linen choices.

If I could give a thousand stars, I would! The BEST fried green tomatoes I've ever had. Shrimp & Grits were amazing & my husband thoroughly enjoyed the blackened gator & bread pudding. Our server, Alena, was so sweet. This will be the first place we go when we head back to NOLA.

For a 4.8 star average rating I expected a little better of an experience and was a bit disappointed. The Good: There was a rather long line outside to get seated but the woman managing the wait was FANTASTIC! She was answering calls while simultaneously shuttling guests in & out of the restaurant, jotting down names, and answering questions! Overall we only waited outside about 6-7 minutes. The food came very quickly! The shrimp in my shrimp & grits were HEAVENLY and the biscuits that came with both entrees tasted amazing. I also highly recommend the crawfish hushpuppies! They were incredible and very full of meat. Our server was friendly and attentive. The bathrooms were clean and smelled nice. The Bad: We were seated in the MIDDLE of the verrry busy narrow restaurant seating area. So people were constantly bumping into us on their way in/out which was distracting and annoying. Water dripped on me from the ceiling a few times. My husband found a hair in his jambalaya. (Although he said it was so good he didn’t mind🤣) The grits I had were very lumpy and didn’t have much flavor at all. I wished they were cheesier. Overall I think we just got unlucky with our visit given how many amazing reviews this place has. If you can avoid sitting in those two, 2 person tables in the middle of the dining area I would. Especially if it’s very busy.

Fantastic brunch spot with fast service. I had the salmon eggs Benedict and gator omlette, both were very flavorful and the portions were perfect!

My first time in New Orleans and breakfast here was great! It's walking distance from the hotel. It stayed hot the whole time and it was very very good. I had the Creole omlett, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. The biscuit was delicious and I'm not really a bread person. Can't wait to try other dishes from here. The banana foster cheesecake is a must try!! It's rich and delicious😋

I recently tried the Gater Po Boy at Zesty Creole, and it was an incredible experience! The sandwich was perfectly balanced with a crispy, flavorful alligator filling, complemented by fresh, crunchy vegetables and a zesty sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The bread was perfectly toasted, adding an excellent texture to each bite. The combination of flavors was both unique and satisfying. The service was top-notch, making the entire dining experience enjoyable. I highly recommend the Gater Po Boy to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable meal.

My family and I had 1 night in New Orleans to celebrate my 50th birthday. There are lots of places to choose from, but stumbled upon zesty creole and chose to go here because the reviews were pretty solid. This place was an absolute hit with my family in every way. The food was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond. A HUGE thank you to the manager LIZ for making my 50th birthday dinner special.

Busy restaurant on Canal Street with good food and great service. Portions are generous, so come hungry. I had the shrimp po boy which I can wholeheartedly recommend.

We came in to go to Essence Fest, and happened to pass by and was immediately greeted by Whitney. Her customer service was so great we had to walk in and get breakfast. Our server was also great and served us so well. Food and customer service was soo good we came back another day for lunch. Whitney had great conversation with us and was telling us about popular places nearby and how to get a round. When we come back, we will definitely eat at Zesty Creole again.

Salty, overcooked tourist trap food on Canal street We ordered three dinner entrees coming out to $100, which was pretty pricy for the poor quality. Note: the restaurant tacks on additional charge for paying with credit card Food: Both the blackened red fish and the salmon we were served were unfortunately way overcooked. The crawfish étouffée didn’t have any actual crawfish and was dominated by salt. I must say zesty creole has fantastic biscuits - buttery, flaky and with a crispy golden brown exterior. Vibe: The interior is a long rectangular dining area with a bar facing one wall and feels stale. The booth seats could use some reupholstering. Service was attentive and helpful.

The staff greeted us at the door. They were attentive to our table. The food was so delicious and the staff was so friendly. They even split our checks, individually!!

Not only were the owners so kind, but everything we had was beyond amazing. I could not even decide my favorite dish. I had the chicken pasta which had the perfect amount of Cajun spice, a side of jambalaya which was a perfect blend of spices and red beans and rice were out of this world. You have to Try it all for yourself! We will be back!

We were greeted by Liz and she was very welcoming and sweet. We ordered drinks and a mimosa and I was given the mimosa complimentary because it was my birthday 🥳 The food was very good. No complaints at all. We ordered the seafood gumbo, shrimp platter and the redfish. I already sent a recommendation to my family who’ll be here later in the week.

Outside of the price, this location is stellar for great New Orleans food! Went with my family to have a dinner before going out for the night and we all ordered different items. Shrimp Po Boy, Gumbo, Jambalaya, the sampler and ordered the Sazerac. Great food, excellent service and nice location as it is right next to bourbon street. 1st timers recommended at this location as the Gumbo was delightful and the Shrimp Po Boy was delicious

Fantastic service and tasty food! I wish there were more vegetarian options, especially vegetarian takes on the local, Creole cuisine. I enjoyed the veggie beans dish.

A great, unpretentious diner-style restaurant with Creole food. Gumbo is not particularly spicy, but tasty anyway. I definitely recommend pancakes, they are served with what seems to be some real maple syrup, and they don't have a soda aftertaste.

My first was during Essence 2024, and I must say, we were very impressed. The place was not crowded, and the service was impeccable. I order a half fried oyster and alligator sausage po-boy ( the waitress' recommendation), and the sandwich did not disappoint. My friend had the shrimp pasta...amazing. The only slight issue was the roof had a small leak, and water was leaking on my head. But other than that, if you are in Nawlins, check them out!

Liz is the best. She reminded us that we could bring our alcoholic beverages with us on the streets open carry.

I had the “Taste of Nola” & it was the best, hands down.

Dinner with friends on a July Sunday night. Very busy but they were friendly and efficient in seating and serving us quickly. It has a diner-like vibe. We ordered the red beans over rice, jambalaya, gumbo over rice, and fried catfish po-boy. The food was delicious. Also ordered a Sazerac at the bar, well made. Overall a great representation of creole food at a good price without the affectation of some of the older famous fancy restaurants.

Not sure why folks are lined up to eat here. My omelet was fried hard and dry, and my grits had absolutely NO flavor. I feel like there was no effort put in my meal. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I don't remember why we stumbled into this place. It was about our lunchtime, and we saw the place. We were looking for some good creole food. The atmosphere is easy going. It's not a fancy place. Our waitress had a Greek accent (I think). Very nice. I had the blackened alligator which, truth be told, was ok but not great. But what knocked our socks off was the Jambalaya. I heard a song about Jambalaya when I was in college. I tried to make it many times including using the pre-prepared spices that comes in a box. It was good. Any time I was at a restaurant that claimed to be Creole or Cajun, I'd order it. But when I got to New Orleans I wanted to try the real thing. We both got a bowl of Jambalaya, and it was so good. You can get a bowl or a cup. I highly recommend stopping in there to try it.

Very nice place located on Canal St. NOLA. Real good location in happening area. Plenty of food options. Authentic creole/Louisiana food. I got the creole omelette. My wife got the cup of gumbo and cup of etoufee (sorry for the spelling). Clean restaurant, tables, environment. Fast and very good service. It was very busy when we arrived. Place was full. No tables available but we only waited 10 min. They have a nice gentleman at the door taking the names for list. 10 minutes went quick and then we were seated. A couple behind us were not patient when they were informed it be 5-10 min and were kind of rude to him but he remained calm, polite and still put their names on the list. Our waitress was Nazima. She was very sweet, friendly and took care of us. She represented Zesty Creole well. Seems like the whole staff helps one another like family. Highly recommend this place.

Of all the places to eat in New Orleans, I would probably skip this one. We made the mistake of eating here on our last day. We chose this place based on reviews. I don’t know what they were comparing it to. All over the city, we had perfectly cooked shrimp….here, the shrimp were a little too firm. We love shrimp and grits and usually that is what my husband orders when he sees them on the menu. Here, they are average, nothing special. The grits were instant grits… and the biscuit was also frozen. I’m a southern girl and you can tell. The staff was incredibly nice but the food was just okay.
