I have been searching for real gyros since I came to San Diego in 2007. This is the real deal: made fresh daily with slices of meat, NOT from waste meat. The taste is authentic.

The food was good quality but not 5 star chicken or hummus in my experience.

This mighty little spot delivers the best gyros in San Diego, and their dolmades are the best I’ve had anywhere. Their prices are beyond fair, and their service is friendly and on point. Highly recommended for authentic Greek cuisine

Fresh, local, and great lunch specials. The owner is from Greece. Try the specials, they are a good deal. I wish they posted their menu on Google and made more Greek dishes lke the Greek green beans, gigantes, etc. They would do it right. Walk up, order and pay, have a seat. The bathroom is clean, one stall. Free parking right in front.

I have no idea who would leave less than a 5 star review at this restaurant! If you are looking for amazing and authentic Greek food you’ve found your spot. The hummus and pita is fresh and delicious as well as chicken and green salad. I will definitely be back!

The pork gyro was excellent! Tender with awesome crispy edges. Generous Greek salad that I wished had some lettuce. Next time I'll try the Zgara salad.

One of my favorite places to eat!

The gyro meat was too dry and had little hard pieces throughout the sandwich that almost broke my teeth. I was really hopeful for this place coz it's so close to my home but I likely will not be back here. Dunno how they have such amazing reviews but my experience was not good.

Had the gyro. I guess I’m used to beef/ lamb gyro. Very disappointed. Smelled and tasted awful. I don’t know if making gyro with pork is traditional, will not order again. Arby’s has better gyros. Go to Alexis in Hillcrest!

I was visiting San Diego for Real Estate conference and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant the first day! Which is amazing, because I literally ate here every single day !! The service is phenomenal and the food was delicious! Next time I’m in San Diego, I will definitely be back! So much love from AZ!!

I was very unimpressed with everything, especially the meat. It was extremely dry, had almost no flavor. I think they may have been at the end of the meat… which I understand, but they should have just told me they have nothing left for the day. Instead they served a wrap that was terrible. The fries too were not great. All in all I was expecting some good Greek food, especially based on the ratings I read, and I thought it was just terrible.

Their food is delicious and their service is wonderful.

Can’t express how happy I was to run into a real Greek tavern! This is the real deal. None of that fake bologna style beef/lamb garbage. Gyro is pork or chicken.. Takes me back to eating in Greece. Owner Nick comes from the Island of Rhodes and he definitely knows his stuff.. Had the pork skewers (souvlaki) and it was marinated 10000000% correctly.. it’s also about the cut of meat used to skewer a perfect skewer and he nailed it! Don’t let Americanized “Greek” places fool you, if they make their souvlaki with beef or lamb chances are it’s not Greek. Until next time adelfe mou!! Pete from Vegas

This place is so convenient with their online ordering and efficient pick up system. The food is tasty and veggies are always fresh. It's a small family in owned business so far as I can tell and they are doing a great job. Glad it's part of the neighborhood!

This was probably the best Greek food I have ever tasted in my life. The chicken was seared to perfection and had a great aroma and taste. The rice had a great follow through with its flavor and made each bite better. The tzatziki and hummus had the right balance and consistency and I'm not really a fan of humus but I enjoyed it. The pita bread tied up the meal into matrimony. While dining in people picking up to go orders were praising the staff before I even got my plate. Staff was friendly. It did take a while to get my food but it was well worth the wait. I will go back

Had the pork Souvlaki plate, it was perfectly cooked. Tender with really good flavor. I came back the next week and brought the family!

Ordered a gyro got a dry plain pork sandwich, no toppings. Ordered a Greek salad got a tomato salad. Order was so far off I called them to ask if I had picked up the wrong order and they told me no. If you want great food this is not the place.

Fantastic option for Greek food, something generally hard to find in San Diego. Hummus was delicious. Falafels were fresh, light and crunchy. Gyros had a huge portion of perfectly cooked meat. Highly recommend.

This place is the best!! The food is fresh and delicious. I used to eat here ALL THE TIME at the Pacific Beach location, and I am excited to hear they are back in San Diego at a new location. I am moving back from Hawaii next week, and I will be a frequent customer once again!

This food is amazing ive literally never had a better gyro! The meat was perfectly seasoned and texture was crispy and tender! The yogurt sauce is perfectly balanced!

2nd time here! And this is definitely one of those places where you really can't go wrong with ordering anything ! The Mix grill for 2 plate was huge enough to feed the 2-3 people. We got some of the hummus as well which was a great addition to our lunch! Flavors were amazing in every bite! So glad we got to check this place out. The prices were reasonable. There is plenty of space to eat and not feel cramped. They also have an outside area for dining.

Excellent, I have been there about 10 times and 9 of those I always get the #1 special: delicious tender pork gyro on fresh pita bread with perfectly cooked golden French fries and a drink for $9.99. Best deal in town. The people are friendly the food is fresh. Next time your thinking of fast food, go try the lunch special, you won't be disappointed.

Probably the best Greek food in San Diego, I'm I'm not saying that lightly! Specifically their gyro stands out, they make it here instead of that premade sausage meat that you see at most Greek restaurants. Only complaint is that it's a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it.

I lived in Europe for 7 years and have gone to Greek restaurants hundreds of times. Most American 'Greek' food isn't anywhere near what you would find in Greece or other countries in Europe. This restaurant, however, is authentic. You absolutely need to eat here to have real Gyro and other Greek specialties.

Zgara Greek Grill may be a hole in the wall small restaurant, but it has the best greek food I’ve ever had! The falafel was cooked to order, moist, very favor full, and absolutely delicious. The spanakopita was also excellent served with a superb tzatziki. Want some great Greek food - give Zgara a try!

I had the falafel sandwich. And and it was one of the best falafel sandwiches I've ever had! And I'm not just saying that. I order the falafel sandwich because I don't eat meat and I usually don't expect much. But it was really really good and the gentleman behind the counter gave me an extra taziki sauce and I appreciate that. I will definitely be going back it was delicious and the price was right.

I had the pleasure of having Greek food today at Zgara Greek Grill. It was fresh. It was better than any Greek food I have ever had, ncludng in Athens and other locations n Greece. The food is prepared by an expert chef named Eric, who is also the owner. If you like Greek food. You will lve the foiod here. If yiu have never tried Greek food, this is the place to try it. The food is prepared fresh before you eyes. My favorite s the Grrek salad of fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers, feta and the besr dressing I have ever tasted. I also love the beef burger. It is served in pita with tsatsiki and all the trimmings. Also world class are the Gyros and souvlaki. Once you have eaten at this little place you will love to return for its great fresh food. The charm of this place is super, due in part to the owner’s friendly wife and polite helpful son who take orders and serve the outstanding world class food. The prices are reasonable given the top quality food. Five stars and more are right for this super cuisine.

Simple, clean, efficient, friendly place. The food was excellent, well prepared and authentic. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The service also warm and friendly. Great food, good people, generous portions, reasonable prices. We felt like we were back in the greek isles for a warm meal.

Authentic greek food - the only place in San Diego to get real pork souvlaki and pork gyros. Their feta spread is delicious, I put it on everything. The spanikopita is nice & crispy and their fries are just right.
