This restaurant was such a great experience. The staff was really nice and attentive, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. Portions are big but the menu does say it is "family style". We will be coming back!

We needed takeout risotto and didn’t have much time to wait. The owner told us not to worry and made it happen! The whole staff was very nice! The mushroom risotto was so tasty! The portions were large! When I picked up the order, the place smelled amazing and the atmosphere seemed very casual where you could enjoy a good conversation with friends. It was a great experience!

We had a wonderful dinner this evening!! Wanted something close to where we were staying and decided this was the place...and we are so glad it was!! Josh was our server and was so polite, gracious and accommodating!!! And our dinners were delicious!! Also loved that our food is cooked so close and that the chef came by personally to talk to us!! Portions were extremely generous too!! Would definitely recommend and come back if we come to the area again!! :)

Such a cute little place with the best food. On the menu there is a dish that recognizes that it is Amazigh instead of "Berber", super cool to see the recognition in the states as most people use a literal slur instead. Cannot stress how delicious the food is. Bread is fresh baked in house

Abe is a true cook. He puts love and determination into his food - this is truly one of the best food in Seattle I've been to, and the atmosphere makes me feel like I've been transported across the world, back in a friendly home kitchen. I LOVE zouave. He can also many anything vegetarian, gluten free etc. just ask!

One of the things I enjoy most about going to this place is the attention. It is a very cozy restaurant, it feels like dining on gourmet food in your own home. The chef is a charming person with a lot of charisma. Both times we went we ordered osso buco and both times they gave us dessert. The prices are quite affordable and the food is very delicious, you can tell that it is prepared the moment you order it.

It's unlikely that you'll find anything like this anywhere in Seattle. Until you do. On Sundays, Zouave stays open later than any restaurant in the area, that's how we were so lucky to find it. This is a small and humble family operation, but has clearly been built with pride poured into their product and service. We with full stomachs and feeling positively about supporting a small, family run business. Zouave is a good example of how the next big thing isn't necessarily what's next.

Absolutely crazy how great and unique this place was, and a complete steal for what you get. I've never had Berber-inspired Italian before. The beef roulade was incredible, and the chef sent me home with extra sauce. You will probably want reservations. Hurry before everyone finds it!

This place is a culinary gem! It's a small, cozy restaurant with wonderful Italian food. You can see part of the kitchen, so you watch them prepare the dishes. The tomato and mushroom soups of the day are delightful, and so are the pastas. All the ingredients are fresh. The sangria is a great choice if you're in a group because it comes in a large pitcher. I highly recommend the tiramisu. We were served with a lot of kindness.

Every time I have been here the food has always been amazing. Family cozy feel, definitely food made from the heart! Hidden gem in northeast Seattle! Had the caprese app that is definitely shareable with 4 people! Kids menu had great options, the kids loved their Alfredo and marinara. Honestly I could’ve been happy with their food too! But the pasticcio was amazing, comfort food with amazing flavors! ♥️🤤

Warm, kind, home kitchen feel food. Phenomenal. Yes. Come here, eat well, feel love in the food. Chef came to the table to check in. I had lamb shank with Gnocci & veggies. Soft and tender, fell off the bone, hearty wonderful sauce. Proper tiramisu with the liquor and everything. All the yeses.

I had the mushroom soup and a halibut + salmon with polenta. The food was amazing, perfectly cooked, spiced, and plenty. The service attentive, and the owner/chef came around for a lovely chat. All of that for a very good price. In addition to that, I really enjoyed the ambience. Reminded me a bit of Mediterranean restaurants. No TVs, no noise, just people chatting quietly. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Some of the most generous, friendly, attentive service in Seattle. We visited on a whim on a Tuesday evening, and we were the only guests during our time there. There was a server whose shift ended shortly after taking our orders, so it was just us and the owner/chef afterward. Really felt more like we had been invited into a family home to eat. The food is pretty good, very homey. Gigantic portions. Salmon penne - it could have used more vegetables, basil, and salt (or maybe just less pasta). The owner suggested adding more stuff at home to the leftovers, which I did, and it was great! Chicken marsala - can't go wrong with a cream, mushroom, and white wine sauce. Very good, and well seasoned. The menu and interior do feel a bit dated as others have said, but it didn't bother us. But I really think the specials menu should include prices.

The tiramisu cake reminds me of the ones I had in the summer in Rome several years ago. Not too sweet at all. It has the right amount of bitterness from coffee mixed with the richness of cream! So good! Seafood pescatore was delicious! The creamy sauce looked a bit watery when the dish presented. But the taste is not watery at all! The penne is cooked to the perfect texture. The seafood was fresh but not fishy. Will def come back! Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful dinner here with two friends last night! I had the penne puttanesca while my companions both had the penne salmon, and all of our dishes were fantastic. Best puttanesca I’ve ever had, hands down, and the salad and bread were great starters for the meal. We were the last customers in the restaurant but were assured by the chef himself not to rush and were even given a piece of tiramisu! Our server was great too, didn’t catch his name but he was there Wednesday night and made our experience great! Great food, wine, service, and vibes. Highly recommend!!

This is like an authentic Seattle restaurant. Not over priced, laid back, cool service, and yummy food. The food is cooked by the chief owner who is really into it. The servings are really good size, It's not a posh restaurant but that is part of what I like about it. The menu has a lot of variety.

Really authentic food that genuinely tastes like it was made from a family kitchen. The gnocchi was incredible, some of the best gnocchi I’ve had in the city. They give you really good portions for good prices too. Only lowlight was this was our second attempt at eating here - since it’s so small they’ll turn you away completely if they have no openings or reservations. Somewhat expected but just make sure you plan accordingly.

Got to visit with a friend after a long day of travelling, honestly had a great time! The chef Abe and staff (I think his name was Kylin (?) sorry Kylin if you're reading this I'm not sure how your name is spelled) were super friendly and attentive, intimate / homey atmosphere. Even though there was only one waiter, service was top-tier. It was a memorable experience and I'm really glad I got the chance to try it out. Would definitely recommend!

I loved everything about this restaurant. The Osso Buco was amazing. Both our waiter and the chef were so nice. The chef came out to make sure we liked our food, and at the end, he gave us a free tiramisu for dessert. Top tier service, we will definitely be coming back :)

Had a lovely date here last night. Service was great and the food was delicious. We both had pasta dishes and a glass of wine and paid about $30 each. The pasta was so good and fresh and we had plenty of leftovers. We were treated to a free dessert, which was also delicious! The chef came out to ask us how our food was, he was very nice and you could tell he really cared about the food and making sure everyone was having a good experience. I think he is the only chef, so I could see how food might take a while to come out if they were super busy, but we were there on a Friday night and had no issues. With restaurants getting so expensive in this city, Zouave is really a great deal for the experience and quality of food. We’ll be back.

Went here for dinner on Christmas Day and it was a lovely experience! The owner was super nice and friendly even though we came right before closing and the food was outstanding!

We joined a group of friends who had dined previously here. When we arrived, it took nearly a half hour to get beverages since there was only one server who was doing his best. It took another 15-20 minutes to get the glass we had asked for with the beverage and for us to order our meals. The food was definitely a mixed bag. The special pumpkin butternut squash soup was fabulous and I wish I had ordered a large bowl of it. The peasant bread was hot and fresh from the oven but the amount of dipping oil/vinegar offered was sparse. Two of us ordered the beef Bourgignon which was inedible due to tough, gristly and fatty meat with a salty sauce, a handful of some kind of bean, no visible potatoes and some strange cheese-like substance sprinkled in. Not at all what you'd expect. Others who ordered the lamb shank, chicken marsala, roulade and pasta all enjoyed their meal for the most part - the pasta was dry on my husband's chicken entree. The owner/chef is very charming and sincere and does greet the table warmly. You would like to like this place better because of him. The menu is labeled as "Italian" but seems more Greek - heavy on eggplant, lamb and such. I would return for the soup gladly but not much else I'm afraid.

Had a wonderful time at Zouave tonight in Ravenna for a team appreciation dinner. Rave reviews from my co-workers. This place is so great and was my first time there. It was only staffed by the server and the owner who was the chef who came to our table at the end to introduce himself and chat with guests. It was a slow, relaxed evening over a couple hours (just like Italy). I had the duck and mushroom risotto which was freaking amazing and a nice poached pear for dessert. I had a bite of someone's Tiramisu and it was just drenched which is my favorite way. No crunch detected. To be honest we had five appetizers at the table, three bottles of wine, everyone had entrees and several people had salad or dessert and we got out of there for under $65 a head. Not bad for a company outing in a cozy atmosphere!

This is the sweetest local restaurant. They have personable staff and authentic but not pretentious Italian food. I love that it feels comfortable to go in jeans or dress up a bit. Had an excellent meal here! For a chef that serves such a wide variety of delicious dishes, this place could get by being a little pretentious and overpriced, but it's absolutely unpretentious and reasonably priced. Shorts and tee shirts are welcome and worn by the staff. And I'm thrilled to be able to get away with not dressing up and eating this well. Pay attention to the daily specials; they're not on the menu or website, and there is a specials menu that doesn't have everything. The merguez sausage and the pasticcio were both excellent. The portobello appetizer was rich and flavorful.

We had a wonderful time at Zouave tonight. We enjoyed the food immensely, the staff were awesome and the chef even called goodbye to us as we left after the meal. The atmosphere is quaint and largely comfy but with the tent flaps closed it was a little loud and the airflow would've been appreciated. We'll definitely be coming back and will recommend.

My husband and I tried the penne salmon and lobster ravioli tonight and we absolutely loved them! Both entrees were cooked perfectly and they tasted absolutely delicious. Additionally, the proportions were perfect. Our only qualm is the bread we received [with our takeout order] didn't come with butter or seasoned olive oil to dip in.
