The staff was great. Our waiter was attentive, but even when it got busy, we had someone who checked on us. The food was really good as well. My wife and I chose to go with the $60.00 3-course meal. We both had the tuna tartare which was very tasty. Then we had the macadamia nut crusted snapper and risotto. I could eat the risotto every night. My issue with the snapper was a preference thing where I thought the taste of the fish was covered up by the nuts. I would order it again for sure, just wish the fish flavor came through a little more (My wife liked it exactly how it was). We ended with a key lime pie which made me question why I had never had key lime pie in my life. It was phenomenal. The drinks were good and I would definitely recommend this place.

Omygosh!!! Delicious!! We had the Paella at A Fish Called Avalon. It was a half order and was plenty. Priced affordably at $49 with a side of the asparagus, the food was perfect for the two of us. We topped off our dinner with the legendary key lime pie with pecan crust. The atmosphere is filled with the fun and goodness of Miami. Our server, Aimee was a beautiful addition to our trip. She was accommodating without being over bearing, making our experience very special. Looking for a special seafood experience??? This is your place! 🦩🦩🦩🌞

The hotel, breakfast and restaurant staff provided the most pleasant attention. The hotel is completely renovated for a better experience. The location is unbeatable.

The BEST customer service I have experienced in a long time. I was on property for five days/4 nights, and the entire restaurant staff knew my name after Day 1, my preferences after Day 2. They were so welcoming and accommodating, and the croissants were delicious. They had almond milk, my favorite, and were even able to accommodate my juice preference. I will be staying at the hotel again, with one large reason being the breakfast staff.

We stopped in for a late night dessert and it was the best dessert we had during our Miami stay. The Key Lime Pie was truly the best we have ever had. Anywhere. It was so good I forgot to take a photo. The location and atmosphere are fantastic and the restaurant has that classic art deco vibe. The food looked and smelled amazing, but unfortunately it was our last night there. It will definitely be a priority on my next trip to Miami.

I came to this restaurant for happy hour for my friend’s 40th birthday and was so welcomed and had a wonderful experience with the staff. Renee our bartender/server was the BEST! She even surprised us with a cake and champagne for our birthday girl. Recommend 100%, and ask for Renee!

Excellent food, excellent service, great drinks menu, the ambience was delightful. An absolute gem of a restaurant I would thoroughly recommend. We went as a group of 4 and each had a different item, all sea food. We are all experienced diners with multiple Michelin experiences under our belt and well travelled internationally. One member of our party rated this as ‘the best seafood meal they have ever had’ and the rest of us were also extremely impressed.

We were walking up ocean drive and was convinced by the hostess to stop by and grab a table to eat. We were seated outside and after eating a drinking a bit I asked the server which way the restrooms were and they said inside. I walk inside and didn't see any obvious signs for a restroom so I ask the front desk person does he know which way the restrooms are and was told "The restrooms are closed, there is a private party". I had to explain to him I was sent in here by the server outside for our table and then all of the sudden the restrooms were open. So if you want to eat here just make sure you use the restroom before you come because it is not open to minorities. Oh and the food sucked as well, which was a double slap in the face.

Hands down the most delectable meal I have ever had!! I am very particular on quality and flavor. Life long seafood eater. The red sauce must be fresh made. Even the coffee was good.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent dinner at this well-located South Beach restaurant. We enjoyed outstanding mussels cooked in Champagne, Caesar salad with anchovies, rare tuna with Asian slaw and their famous Key Lime pie. The only dish that was not excellent was the Macadamia crusted snapper. Surprisingly comprehensive wine list ( we enjoyed an outstanding Movia Sauvignon Blanc). Very attentive and friendly service.

The guitar’s soloist was a very romantic touch on South. Each under the beautiful sky. The service was amazing and the food was the best seafood 🦞 yummy 😋 definitely one of the. Eat dinning experiences on South beach. Even on our short 5 day trip we ate her twice it was amazing

The dishes are very well cooked (we tasted the excellent tuna tartare, the superb octopus and the very good bang bang shrimp!!) and the service is very professional! Be careful, the green cream with the tuna is not guacamole but wasabi! 😅😁🥵

Finally, a restaurant that lives up to the hype and reviews !! This restaurant on South Beach serves food that is well seasoned & tastes exceptional as if a skilled chef 🧑🏼‍🍳cooked it. Butterfly Whole Fish w green beans was delicious . The Bang Bang shrimp in curry sauce was phenomenal. Our waiter was Charles, pretty dry personality but he did well , making suggestions that were great. The ambience is perfect, low light, classy and nice soft music . This is now my favorite in South Beach. I definitely will return.

Great restaurant on ocean drive. The patio tables are nice and the view to the ocean and street are great. The food was really good here. The staff was great and very friendly.

I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare. When I cut into the filet, it was tough and too chewy. I notified my waitress about how I didn't like my steak. The filet was prepared as medium rare, but it was too hard to chew. My waitress said she would send it back to the chef. A couple of minutes later, the gentleman, who I assume is the restaurant's host at the entrance of the restaurant, came to my table and challenged my complaint. I have never had a restaurant challenge my complaint before. The gentleman told me to cut into the filet's middle to verify it was cooked as medium rare. It was. Standing over me, he then asked me if the filet mignon was alright. I said it was OK, but I felt pressured to say it was. I took a total of two bites from the filet and set it aside as it was not what I expected. I then asked my waitress for the check. When she came to my table for payment, she presented me a portable, handheld payment device. I didn't have much experience using these devices before. When I took too long to sign the bill, the waitress raised her voice at me and shouted...sign it. That was unprofessional. This restaurant is overrated.

What a wonderful meal and experience. Attentive but not overbearing service, exceptional food and a great atmosphere, including the live music on the front porch. This is a "don't miss" seafood spot on Ocean Drive.

We enjoyed this restaurant overall but unfortunately, the food was not amazing. The scallops were good, but sooo over seasoned. The sake and tarragon glazed lobster tails were also extremely over seasoned. The food presentation was also very much lacking. It reminded us of a mediocre steakhouse rather than fine dining. I will say that the mashed potatoes and mussels were tasty and the live music and patio dining were quite nice. The award winning key lime pie was also good although not showstopping.

The best place we went to in our 48 hour time in Miami. I read that Ocean Drive should be avoided, with the exception of this place. I agree. The drinks were good, the service was the best we had in Miami, our waiter was funny and warm, even though we were dressed very casual (concert t-shirts) and the restaurant is more upscale. My tuna was flavorless, but the sides were good. The crème brulee and keylime pie was excellent! Loved the drink being served in a toy car! It was cute.

Make online reservation for my boyfriend birthday last week, the waiter (Alexis) was great, gave us some good recommendation and go over special dish of the day and that’s what we had, we also had lobster, mash potato creamy and good, green bean was very tasty, raw oysters was ok. The atmosphere was excellent, love live music on site. At the end of our course, Alexis brought the singer with his guitar surprise us with a raspberry lime pie with a candle, we sang the birthday song, the pie was very delicious, taste just like homemade pie, not too sweet, you can taste all the flavors, the pecan crust give it a better flavor. It was a very nice birthday dinner, I’m glad we go here, supposed to had dinner at a different restaurant. Even the hostess were extremely nice, we feel very welcoming from the time we got there til the time we leave. Excellent service and excellent food, highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

A very special place. Vibrant Ocean Drive atmosphere with all the beauty and craziness this road has to offer. Extremely friendly and professional staff. All courses, from starters to entrees and desserts were phenomenal ( the rumour of the key lime pie is true - world's best!), but also amazing seafood, such as the tarragon and sake-glaced lobsters. Lovely live music all evening and an outstanding service - a million thanks again to Alejandro for making this an extraordinary experience for us!

I went to this restaurant with my friend about two weeks ago. We are locals and don’t normally frequent south beach; however, it was highly recommended and we were not disappointed! First, the service from beginning to end was on point! The General manager, Giorgio, made sure that we were well attended to and that our experience was nothing short of EXCELLENT! The food was delicious and their famous Key Lime pie was quite a decadent experience. Honestly, 5 stars don’t do it justice!!

This was stop #3 on our happy hour crawl and it had the funnest most creative drinks. The bartender was super friendly and was a master of mixes. The details put into every drink were top notch. The bar area was hoping for happy hour and we made new friends. Wifey got the happy hour oysters and said they were great. Overall, it was our favorite spot of the Happy Hour crawl.

I have been to A Fish Called Avalon 3 times in 2 weeks. Once as a party of 2, and twice with large parties of 17 and 20, where my company was hosting a business dinner. The waitstaff did an excellent job accommodating the larger parties and getting food and drinks out promptly. The food was excellent each time I visited, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I worked with Giorgio to coordinate the large dinner parties and he was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Overall, excellent food and excellent service!

Bei der Reservierung hatte ich das Avalon fälschlicherweise etwas südlicher verortet, sonst hätte ich nicht gebucht. So saßen wir auf der Touriterasse und hatten ein durchschnittliches Abendessen. Fast etwas besser als zu erwarten, aber einfach nicht schön. Sollte man nicht machen, es gibt so viel bessere Restaurants in Miami Beach.

This is THE PLACE on Ocean Drive. (I normally dont dine in this area but Avalon is the exception)...quality seafood dishes, tasty Bang bang Shrimp and the Key Lime Pie is superior. Outdoor patio w live music and indoors--for a more formal dinner.

Zeer goede service maar culinair veel meer uit te halen. We hadden de seafood paëlla en hadden een hoge verwachting na het lezen van meerdere beoordelingen. De vis was vers maar als je een europese paëlla verwacht dan gaf dit een teleurstelling. Let wel het was correct maar je kan er zoveel meer uithalen. Toen de rekening kwam was de prijs kwaliteit verhouding niet naar verwachting.Jammer!!

We had an amazing dinner. Everything from the wine, appetizers, salad and entrees were amazing. The scallops we had as appetizers were delicate and flavorful. We shared the chopped salad which was perfect then I had the shrimp entree. Amazing. Oh and the key lime pie….cant forget it! Thanks

A fish called Avalon has been there for 35 years and won the best key lime pie of the whole USA . Service is attentive and courteous. Live music although it is on Ocean Drive, this place delivers authenticity and finesse. The Avalon hotel is part of the movie Scarface which makes this place a story to tell. Thank you Giorgio and the team for a cozy welcome. Everything I ate I loved. I’ll come back again !

A fish called Avalon never fails to deliver in my opinion. So far off of your typical, tourist trap-pay, ocean drive restaurants! They have been in business since the 80’s- every night, there’s live music! Every dish I’ve had has been delicious, but a couple that always blow my mind: octopus, bang bang shrimp, scallops. This is a must-visit when in Miami!

Had business dinner here last night with a few colleagues. We took Giorgio’s suggestions and were blown away! Everything he suggested was 10/10. Must order the Octopus, Scallops, Mac Nut Crusted snapper, and bang bang shrimp. We enjoyed a few bottles of Whitehaven and dessert too 🥂

Went for Dinner last night, and this is definitely NOT a typical Ocean Drive tourist trap. Had a drink while waiting for the rest of the party at the quaint bar with a large window overlooking Ocean Drive, which made for a great backdrop throughout our conversation. We were sat promptly once the rest of the party arrived. The Octopus appetizer, which I like to order at restaurants to gauge the quality of the kitchen as it is very easy to mess up, was cooked to perfection. Our party decided to share a few plates because they all sounded good. The Macadamia Crusted Snapper and the Crab Crusted Grouper stole the show. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, the accompanying sauces complimented without overwhelming the fresh taste of the fish. Somehow, we mustered up the will to order dessert, even though we barely had room and were thankful we did. The Pecan Crusted Key Lime Pie…as a South Florida Native I have had an infinite number of Key Lime Pie variations but I will never forget this one. The pie was perfectly balanced between tart and sweet and then the nuttiness of Pecan crust took it to another level. Well done Chef! We will definitely be back and I will absolutely be recommending this place to my friends locally and visiting from abroad.

Very disappointed. Traveling with my husband to Miami for the first time. This place came highly recommended and was the first place we booked dinner reservations super excited to try. Well you can say we were more than disappointed when we arrived to find the inside of the restaurant close for a private function and the table we were given was outside but next to the door that the staff would access to bring stuff out. We were told that was our only option so we didn't stay. We were very disappointed since we were not told we would have to eat outside and with it being Spring Break it was chaotic and loud in addition to being placed next to an operating door.

👸🏻 Ecem was a fabulous bartender. She was friendly, pleasant, funny and super attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. The place was clean and OMG and the drinks were SOOO GOOD. Very friendly and on top of things. Definitely coming back again soon.

I would say this is the best place for seafood in South Beach. The chef has extremely amazing taste and is very creative with his dishes. Octopus is a go to, and the paella is the best in South Beach.

The food was very tasty and beautifully prepared. Nice attentive service. The patio is perfect for watching people stroll along Ocean Drive. The interior is rather cool due to the temperature and ambience, so the terrace is recommended.

Great spot on Ocean Drive for people watching & the food was delicious. When we arrived we had drinks at the bar for Happy Hour. Then we sat outside for dinner. My husband had the Shrimp Cocktail as an appetizer and I had the stone crab claws.We shared the Paella. The fish was all done perfectly & was plentiful. Their deserts looked amazing but we were to full to indulge.

We dine here wh whenever we are in Miami. The food is consistently excellent. The chef was kind enough to make the grouper dish in the style of the snapper dish, which was no longer available. The ahi tuna was amazing and my daughter loved the chicken. Alejandro, our waiter was friendly and attentive! Would recommend highly!

Eaten at Fish called Avalon quite a few times over the years and it has never disappointed before. This time we had little time so tried the happy hour at the Rocket Bar. My burrata was lacking the creamy centre; more mozzarella than burrata. But the tomato coulis was very tasty and the presentation couldn’t be faulted. I could have used more than 4 bite sized crostini though. DH’s mussels were very good - he is a big mussel fan. The drinks menu on the website seems to be out of date. The actual menu was simpler; $5 off cocktails and glasses of wine but no bottles of wine available. May be you could update your website, guys?

Had a very nice meal (2 couples) and in what is arguably the nicest restaurant on SoBe's Ocean Drive. Cocktails, wine, service were all excellent as was our meal; the macadamia-crusted snapper was outstanding. We have been to A Fish Called Avalon several times over many years, but this was our first visit in a few years and very happy that it still excels and look forward to returning when we're back in Miami Beach.

We had an incredible time. My mom and I were celebrating her 55th birthday. She said “this is the type of place I’d like to freeze a moment in time”… the live music was amazing, the hustle bustle of the service— efficient but still extremely friendly, the atmosphere was wonderful… and best mussels we have ever had! I went here 1st time with my fiance looking for Chilean sea bass which I had no idea what it was and searched a restaurant and found this it was awesome. So we have been going the last couple of years. I recommend to everyone great food great service great location.

If I measured the evening solely on service alone, the dining experience would have been given a 5 star rating. Food was solid but the special sea bass had entirely too much Miso coating. However, they initially gave me the wrong entree, but our server was quick to get it fixed. Love sitting outside but Miami has certainly changed. The heavy aroma of cannabis throughout the evening while sitting at our table was overwhelming at times. Liked the live music though but we were fortunate to be sitting far enough away to not drown out our conversation. Otherwise, it was nice to see the restaurant has maintained it's strong commitment to service for their patrons, which isn't always the case dining in South Florida.

Best experience ever. My wife and I went for dinner and we had the best key lime pie of our life. Everything is over the top, from the atmosphere to the food and service. Super recommended.

Fabulous seafood dishes, excellent service, live music, and beautiful seaside location. An absolute gem! Shrimp scampi, red snapper risotto, escargot & key lime pie were all delicious!
