Wonderful tour and tasting! So good, there are bottles going home.

Interesting and fun tour of an active distillery. The facilities were clean and well kept and the tour was well done. There is a free tasting of 4 different drinks and a nice gift shop to buy bourbon, etc. from. Highly recommend on the list of things to do in Fburg.

Wow. Came here to wait out some afternoon traffic and was blown away at how great this place is. Had a tasting with Brandon and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He was great at sharing the history and process, and was spot on with the tasting notes. Fantastic bourbon and they even had some excellent “experimental” gins. Would absolutely recommend…

Bowman's rise in the whiskey world is a path any distillery would be envious of. The juice is stunning - probably one Virginia's best kept asset comparable to {dare I say} some Buffalo Trace labels (SHH!). Just kinda wish Bowman maintained a satellite store in their original site in Herndon, VA. The highly collectible Abraham Bowman series is a gem to acquire if you get so lucky to get picked during their lottery. Really wish there was an embedded mini-restaurant in their facilities --- that way I can make the case to just camp all day and truly soak up all that is Bowman. Like most distilleries that start up, there needs to be product to buffer the financial burden while waiting for bourbon to sufficiently mature. So the gins and vodkas are available and somewhat basic in taste profile ... but be sure to ask the folks the backstory about the "Tinkerman" gins (which are currently deemed limited as well) which surprisingly is a completely different label that is separate from the core Bowman portfolio and these Tinkerman gins definitely carry a deeper more complex flavor profile.

Considering Brandon acted like he hated his job, life, and visitors for being there in addition to not having their more popular bourbon, it’s safe to say it wasn’t super enjoyable.

A community icon. The distillery is always in order with amazing tours, great tastings, and awesome staff. I couldn't recommend A. Smith Bowman Distillery more. What an awesome place and organization. You can tell they care for their whiskey with the utmost respect for the craft. Amazing location.

Great tour. I highly recommend touring with Sarah. I have a new appreciation for Bourbon. My favorite sample was the Port Barr Straight Bourbon Whiskey. I’m still buzzing!

Last minute visit to ASB and it was worth every second. Flights got delayed to snow that never came. Aunt and I were looking for something to do. She found ASB on google maps and I was like "I didn't know there were in Frederickerburg, hell yeah let's go". We got online and saw the had a few open spots for the Saturday morning tour and tasting. We made it in record time from her house and enjoyed a very interesting and informative tour from a young lady that I forgot the name of. After the tasting they brought out 6 bottles of allocated bourbon and I have never seen in Florida. We each grabbed one and some swag. Great last minute adventure and so glad I got to check this Distillery off my list. As for the tour it's not a very large Distillery, but the guide kept it fun and entertaining. She knew a lot about bourbon, and learned pretty quick I was going challenge her, it was fun and highly recommend going. There was some ghost in the barrel storage area that kept making her lose her train of thought. We all told her it was the wind, she didn't think so. LOL GO CHECK OUT ASB Distillery and go early early, you might score a good bottle!

Enjoyed a tour over the weekend! Took my husband for our birthday. We really enjoyed the tour, the information was very informative & our tour guide Allison was knowledgeable, friendly & kept it from being boring. The tour & tasting is about 30 mins and is free. We definitely recommend.

Stopped in on a weekend and was met with an utterly contemptful old guy who seemed completely irritated with the presence of customers, and walked away from us multiple times as we asked questions. The product and shop were at least decent but we will not return (Kentuckians are much more polite).

Everyone is friendly and super helpful. Awesome tours. Sampling. Weddings.

Amazing distillery with great tour guides, highly reccomend!

On our way back from Virginia Beach we decided to take a little detour and swing by the distillery for the free tour. We love the Single Barrel offering and unfortunately have missed out every time on the Cask lottery. With that being said here are my thoughts: Good: The tour is free and comes with small samples of Rum, Gin and the Port Finished bourbon. The building and atmosphere is very cool. The gift shop has a lot of neat items for purchase. The barrel storage area is quite impressive, clean and well organized. Bad: They had only Small Batch and Port finished as far as whiskey to purchase. They mentioned having Single Barrel in the morning but it sold out quick (as usual they stated) Not much insight as to the BT and Sazarac connection or mashbills used. Not much insight into the experimental batches or any upcoming products. Overall: Fun if you are passing by but would not go out of my way to visit. Surprised if they know things sell out early they don’t space them out through the day. Also, would love more insight into future products and availability as it’s light on total offerings and supply of things like cask certainly doesn’t meet the demand. We did see the cask bottles waiting to be picked up which hurt a bit lol. They mentioned if not picked up by the end of day the remaining would be sold to restaurants.

Took my boyfriend and mutual friends for a tour and tasting. We had a really good time would definitely recommend. I personally don’t like dark liquor but their Bourbon was really good so was their vodka, I wasn’t a fan of the rum but the guys loved it and most of them brought a bottle at gift shop. Also their caramel cream bourbon liqueur was amazing I picked up a bottle and so did all the other ladies in the group.

Very cool place to learn about local Bourbon and taste a flight of different things. Certainly, it is a uniquely suited experience for locals and tourists alike!

Fun to visit an old Virginia distillery. As noted by others, tour and tastings are free, but I wish they had a paid tasting where you could try their less available spirits. Plus, unlike other distilleries, you only could buy stuff that is available at your local ABC (perhaps because the distillery itself is an ABC store?). Visit would be better if it had unique opportunities to taste and buy, just like most whisky distilleries I've visited around the world.

It's a neat Distillery and pretty good bourbon. They do a good job on their showroom and they have a nice short tour. We went there on a rainy day, wouldn't recommend that. You can't buy anything to drink or eat there really other than a couple sodas. They do have outdoor activities but if the weather is bad I would stay home. The product is good and the tastings were free when you take the tour which I really appreciated. I found the tour to be insightful and fun.

Yesterday Saturday the 5 of August my husband and I went to the summer event, it was lovely. The band was great the. food trucks you choose where a good verity, plus you had a selection of small business owned vendors. It was a lovely way to spend some time on a lazy summer day . Thank you and you products are grade AAA+ wonderful.

We were on vacation and stopped in for a tour, this is a great place to visit. As soon as you walk in the door, the smell of bourbon hits you in the face and it's almost intoxicating but not overwhelming. The staff greeted us right away, were very polite and accommodating. The tour guide (Gina?) was very nice, provided a very good tour and answered any questions we had. She was also our taste test guide, provided us with some very good samples and talk us through the proper way to sample bourbon. The store had some nice merch, we purchased quite a few things, the bourbon BBQ sauce and steak sauce are very nice. We put both of them to use already and neither of them overpower the flavor of the food. My only complaint is that nobody within 50 miles had the Single Barrel or the Cask Strength, which is surprising because I assumed if you make it, you would have it, but maybe that's part of Virginia sales and distribution process. Either way, we will be returning to Va at some point to try and find it. We did get the Port Barrel and the Caramel Bourbon Cream Liqueur, all of which are very good.

What an awesome place, the tour was so interesting and full of history. Then a tasting afterwards. My husband and I have done many tours so we couldn't believe it was free. We will be back to buy more alcohol.

Excellent distillery tour, Sara did a great job as a tour guide! She was very engaged with the entire group, and knew a lot about distilling, we learned a bunch! Also, their Bourbons are delicious!

Great place and even better bourbon. Hosted an event with them and it was wonderful. All of the liquor distilled is top shelf, I have yet to be disappointed with anything. The gift shop has a little bit of everything for all the bourbon enthusiasts. I highly recommend the tour and the tasting.

Bomans small batch is way better then any average bourbon. Just amazing. Single Barrel is the best bourbon by far. They just don't make an average bourbon by no means. It is the best bourbon in the United States. I have been drinking this bourbon since 2002. It is the best.

Great tour and tasting. All for free. I bought a bottle of their sma batch randomly at the liquor store and when I realized how close the distillery was I had to check it out. If you like bourbon you definitely need to go here. They also make great gin and that’s what I ended up buying because I can’t get it in the store. It’s not far from DC/Nova and worth the drive.

Definitely take the tour when you visit, it's free, fun, and educational! Tasting at the end is a nice way to fully appreciate all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating such distinctive bourbons. The shop also has a lot of interesting products along with the spirits.

The Bowman distillery is a “must do” when, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. If you have time, definitely take the distillery tour, it ends with a tasting that you’ll be thanking me for. Everyone that works there has great knowledge, personality, and very service oriented to answer all your questions and get you the right spirits. Large variety of spirits available, and some great Murch as well. The story behind the distillery is amazing, and makes you appreciate the spirits even more. *** please make sure to call ahead for the distillery tour due to its popularity. Have been enjoying Bowman spirits for some time and thrilled to have had an opportunity to take the tour. Christine was top notch and knowledgeable about the product, history, and process. Of course, the tasting at the end was the cherry on top. Bowman produces such an impressively outstanding product, the nose, flavor, notes, and clarity are always spot on. Enjoyed a nice tour with my family this weekend. The tour was free and is family friendly. Micah was our tour guide, was friendly, informative and funny. After the tour my husband and I enjoyed a tasting. The tasting includes 2 bourbons, 1 gin and a dessert bourbon. They have a gift shop which sells the different drinks they offer along with other things like sauces, candles and more. Can’t wait to visit again next time we are in the area.

Kristen was our tour guide and she was super knowledgeable and fun. The distillery is a small operation, but the whiskey is worth it. They had a lot of cool, creative things (in addition to the booze) in the gift shop. I highly recommend the stop: we came up from Richmond.

Cool distillery not very far from downtown Fredericksburg. Free tours are offered and very easy to book using their website. You can purchase what you taste in their gift shop. Dogs are welcome outside in the picnic area, but not allowed inside the distillery. The picnic area is shaded and has tables you can sit at while you wait. Definitely worth a stop!

This place was great. Being a small buisness owner, I'm partial to small opperations. Especially when small operations have large impacts. Their bourbon was great, especially the Isaac Bowman. Super friendly folks. And the complimentary tour and tasting, a clear sign they have confifidence in their product.

What can I say about the A. Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg Virginia? It is a must see! From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, you are treated as family in this small but historical distillery. On the south eastern edge of this North Virginia town, the Bowman Distillery has history dating back to the end of prohibition. It also has been named best bourbon outside of Kentucky. 😋 The best part is with such a small operation, the tour and tasting takes less than an hour and gets you up close and personal with the distilling process. Walking into the warehouse is an experience for your sense of smell (I may have been forced to leave 😳 😅). The Commonwealth of Virginia does limit the taste testing to 4 flavors but if you go there more than once they will have you try different flavors. Then there is the shop. It has all their current flavors available for purchase as well as some sauces for cooking, barware, and apparel. Another neat option is the ability to get your hands on one of their used barrels. So, while you can find some of their products in the Virginia ABC stores, this is the only location where you have access to all of their products...to include the single barrel bourbon, small batch, port, vodka, gin, rum, and cream. This is a small batch distillery. We had the tour and tasting late in the day. We were the only ones on the tour and enjoyed the personalized service. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Their products are very good, especially the caramel bourbon cream. I’m not a bourbon drinker, but that’s so good!

We did the free tour and tasting today and loved it! Our guide Art did a wonderful job - thanks so much! Definitely go there if you get the chance.

I had a wonderful time visiting the A. Smith Bowman Distillery this afternoon. Art gave a great tour of the distillery, bottling line and barrel warehouse. It was quite nice to be able to get closer to pieces of the distillation process and barrels than at other distilleries I have visited in the past. It may not be a sprawling botanical garden like the huge Kentucky distilleries, but it was just as enjoyable because it was a smaller operation. The tasting was excellent and the staff was quite knowledgeable and friendly. My only wish would be to see more of the mashing and fermentation process. Overall, a great experience!

Our tour guide Sara was the best! We brought our 11 month old daughter and Sara was patient and sweet to her the whole tour while answering all our questions and giving us great insight to the distillery! Highly recommend this distillery to anyone with kids to come and enjoy!

I've been wanting to do this tour for quite sometime. It was such a great experience. Our guide Andrea was absolutely incredible! I was so impressed by her knowledge and love for these spirits. This by far was one of the best tours I've ever been on. The flavors were beautiful, complex and aromatic. Thank you so much for having us. Wat een leuk bezoek! We waren een dagje met een huurauto op stap vanuit DC en kwamen deze distellery tegen. Nog nooit een bezocht omdat we normaal brouwerijen en wijnmakers bezoeken. Echter in de US moet je een keer whisky proeven. En wat een leuk en gastvrij bezoek was dat. Geen opsmuk en je mag overal kijken. Helemaal gratis inclusief tasting. Natuurlijk hebben we ook 2 flessen voor thuis meegenomen. Echt een aanrader!

Awesome place! Did the free tour and tasting yesterday and had a great time. Tour is filled with history and great explanation of the process of making spirits. This tour and tasting is better than ones paid $40+ for in other places around the US. Definitely recommend it to everyone! And make sure to pick up a few bottles of the Mary Hite Carmel Bourbon Cream Liqueur its incredible!

A great place to come and tour. Art was a great guide walking thru how the different spirits are made. The spirits themselves, the aromas are excellent, and are smooth. I bought several for gifts, and myself

A pristine place with pride of ownership apparent with everyone with whom we spoke. It was fun. We should come back on a weekday when they are actually working the equipment. They gave their stills names. The place has real character and an interesting history. They used to be in Fairfax.

I recently received a bottle of the Bowman Brothers small batch 90 proof as a birthday present from a family member. Good stuff. I really don’t drink a lot of liquor. Usually what I drink is from ABC store and it’s a big namebrand. This was different. Kind of like drinking a craft beer. Took me a little while to figure it out. The after taste had a little bit of spice in it. Will carry-on what has been started out as a family tradition. I think I will buy a bottle for my dad. I love the patriot bottle themes and so will he.

What an experience! Went with my Girlfriend on our first ever tour of a distillery, and this did not disappoint one bit. Linda offered up some great history and knowledge of the Bourbon making process, and I loved every second of it. At the end we got to try 4 choice makes; The rum, small batch, port barrel, and single barrel. This was great way to spend an early afternoon especially as a celebration for my birthday. 10/10 will be returning to their gift shop and distillery when the weather warms up for an outdoor experience, and hopefully a longer tour. The tour was shortened for COVID protocols unfortunately, but I love that A. Smith Bowman is also creating Hand Sanitizers and PPEs with their equipment.

We did the free tour and it was fantastic. The tour guide was super informative and made the tour interesting and fun. The tours right now are super intimate which I liked. Each tour came with a tasting which was delicious! Ended up trying the gun which i don't normally drink but loved so i bought a bottle of it for home. I will come back again!

I purchased the citrus flavored gin at Thanksgiving and just opened it tonight! It makes a fantastic gin & tonic! Just so smooth!

Quiet place due to Covid, but a good place to visit. Took the tour, enjoyed the tasting, made some purchases, and then left. Will be back to enjoy more after Covid. Great Bourbon and very enjoyable staff.

Great tour given by Ken, very knowledgeable and informative! I've done a few tours at other distillery's throughout the US but Ken taught me a few things I didn't know! Their new bottling machine is mesmerizing to watch do its thing! They let you taste any and every spirit they distill with the free tour. They are all good but the Port finished bourbon is my favorite, great flavors! Also their Vodka is the smoothest I've ever had, and I've had lots!! Highly recommend if you're in the area!!

Awesome staff and very knowledgeable about the business and roots. This is what makes Virginia so awesome. The tour was enjoyable and getting educated was a plus. The tasting at the end was the icing on the cake. Thank you for the military discount as well.

What a great story. A local family-run company wins an international taste test two years in a row! The tours are very informative and interactive. With only 14 employees these folks do it all; make great bourbon, give tours, and probably take out the trash. Amazing. They offer free tastings after the free tours. It’s a wonderful experience. They make several other spirits besides bourbon so there’s something for everyone.

Greeter was friendly and beautiful place .. however the guy behind the tasting table was not as friendly and helpful.. I felt discriminated against

At A. Smith Bowman Distillery you can sit in a very comfortable, warm, and friendly atmosphere. You can taste, order and enjoy their offerings of delicious bourbons and other alcohols. Take home too. There's an area to sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the distillery's lake and surrounding trees.

Great tour for anyone interested in learning how a great bourbon whiskey is made. Michelle did an excellent job escorting our group around the facility, describing the history of the Bowman family and walking us through the process of making a great bourbon, vodka and standard whiskey. No door went unopened as we were able to see the distilling process from raw materials to bottling. The best part of the tour was having the chance to taste test four of the products made in house, FOR FREE!!! Thanks again the the Bowman staff for a great informative tour!!

Have toured twice and is now a must when in the area. Everyone there cares about the spirits and are invested personally.
