I ordered 2 plates because that what fat people do. I had chicken & oxtails rasta pasta on 1 plate then I had an oxtail plate! Delicious I tell you! Couldn't finish it all of course so guess what I had for breakfast! This food was definitely seasoned with love!

Came in on a Friday evening. Place smelt amazing. Ordered the jerk chicken plate. Brussels sprts with rice and the avocado, pineapple, cucumber salad. Mind blown. Flavors were on point. 👏

The workers were so nice! the service was super good, one worker even came out and lit some candle things to keep the mosquitoes away. Now the food was so good, like so good it put me to bed! I’ll definitely be recommending this place to everyone i can !

On 5/18 at 8:33 pm we arrived at this place, the closing time was listed for 10 pm. The closed sign was on the door, the worker opened the door to let two customers in but told us that they were closed. I guess if they don't know you personally you can forget it. Food options are already quite limited after 9 pm in New Orleans, such a disappointment.

It’s in a run down house. We received our menus at the register. We chose to sit outside and water was brought to us . You have the option to scan a QR code or go inside to order. It took forever to get our food and the place wasn’t even busy. I got the jerk chicken sandwich with green banana fries . The sandwich was good( they skimped on the bbq sauce) and the fries were kinda over seasoned. My son ordered the shrimp stew with jerk fish. He devoured it. He wanted to order a sandwich to go but we would’ve had to sit there for another hour. I’d go back but I would have to be in the mood for it being as that I live in Slidell.

Crawfish etouffee was to die for! Corn and brussel sprouts sides were also so good!

This place had a very intimate and relaxing environment. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great however staff is low so depending on how many people are there service may be slower. However everyone is kind and dedicated to their work. This is my comfort food spot!

The ambience is spare and the service is ok. However the quality of the food is the star. It may take a while for the food to arrive, but that’s because it is clearly made with attention to detail. Cooking is perfect and the Caribbean flavors are superb. A definite winner.

Great Space!!! Staff were very helpful and super nice (Definitely NOT the staff for the low score on service)! Unfortunately, the everything is super slow, which isn't always a bad thing... just important to be prepared to spend some time (>20 minutes) waiting for any drinks or food. Time between appetizer and dinner was more than an hour.

This place is Garbage. I've been here twice. First time was two weeks ago, when the owner walked into the dining room at 8:15 to announce to people waiting in the small line, that they were running out of food, the kitchen staff were tired, and everyone needed to leave. Cool, so my friends left, and figured it was good and selling out. NOPE. Not the reason. Cut to last night. My party of four shows up at 7pm. The owner takes our order and nicely tells us to sit down on the patio. One round of drinks took 45 mints to show up. Our food? The First dish showed up to my girlfriend after an hour and a half. No utensils. No one else's food appears. My other two friends got their meals at 9! That's two hours of waiting and it was like this for everyone at the restaurant. We counted and there were only Ten people in the entire building (myself included), so it wasn't busy at all. We asked the two girls serving food and they had no idea what was going on with anything. They still didn't bring flatware. I walked inside to the register to get it myself. My food you ask? I ordered the same thing as my friend and figured it would show up any minute. Then I saw the owner stacking chairs inside at 9:30. I asked where my food was and he had no idea that I never got it. He insisted it was the fault of one of the "new waitresses" working there. I reminded him that he himself took my order, rung me up, and was the chef. He said he'd give me a drink to go and maybe see about finding me a plate to go "if the staff felt like it". I told him I didn't have the time and just wanted a refund. Suddenly he didn't know how his own register worked and didn't know how to refund for anything, despite managing the establishment. He begrudgingly handed over $16 of wadded cash to cover the cost of my missing meal, which was $16 before fees, and that's ALL he was willing to do. So I essentially paid tax and tip to wait 2.5 hours and not eat at this restaurant. The food I was able to sample from my friend's plates was just okay. I've had far better jerk before. The corn was decent, and the drinks weren't bad, although very small for the pricing. Also, confirmed german cockroaches sighted in both bathrooms inside the paper towel dispensers and witnessed possums crawling on exterior tables to scurry under under the small back deck where everyone sits (where they live we're assuming). As the restaurant closed, it was obvious the only thing ever cleaned are the dishes. Nothing else wiped at all. Not tables, not menus, and certainly nothing exterior cleaned. The health inspector needs to shut this place down ASAP. In closing, the food is meh, the building is filthy, inside and out, the service is trash, and the management is incompetent. I look forward to its inevitable closing, so a better island spot can get the business. The positive reviews of this place have got to be fake or paid for.

As far as first impressions go, I don't know if it's possible to be more pleased with a dining experience. We essentially stumbled in here looking for something else, and I can only consider it a blessing. The food and drinks were all exceptional! ... like they don't miss. They're warm, friendly people, and they genuinely care about what's being served. I would recommend this place a thousand times over. Absolute bliss on a plate.

Everything we ordered was amazing. So fresh and delicious. We got the jerk nachos. None of it was soggy. It was like each chip was individually nachoed. We also got turkey necks and the avocado, pineapple and cucumber salad. The lime dressing was drinkable. Sooo good. Everyone was super welcoming.

My hubby and were coming from BR and I wanted something different than the typical NO cuisine. I love jerk. This place is wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The food took a bit to come out but that’s bc they were cooking it fresh. So we sat and chatted and listened to the music and enjoys being still for a minute. Go eat here. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow, just wow! The jerk fish sandwich is one of the best I have ever eaten. The cucumber, avocado and pineapple salad is magic. I could buy the soursop ginger lemonade by the gallon. The owners are also lovely.

They food was very good! We were looking for some Jamaican food! And was recommended this location by some of the local barbers 💈! We ordered the oxtails and fish with brussels sprouts and sweet potato plantain . It was delicious! Highly recommend this location for some great food! If traveling at night you may miss it the area is dark! Because we missed it! It’s a business that looks like a house . Great art work on the walls of the business ! It’s the first thing I noticed when I walked in! Medium Space for dining area ! Does have back yard seating ! Go and enjoy yourself!

We decided to dine at Aphrodisiac for 3 reasons: our Airbnb hostess said it was a neighborhood favorite, the reviews were great and it's black owned. The entire time we dined, there was a constant flow of customers coming to place/pickup orders (this was a Friday night). I had the cucumber/avocado/pineapple salad which was refreshing. I also enjoyed the sweet potato/plantain mash and Caribbean fries. The curry shrimp plate was just ok...it didn't help that I had to pick the sausage out that I'd requested to NOT be included. The kind gentleman with the long locs came over to ask how everything was, which was appreciated. We also liked all of the wall art. Aside from the sausage, my biggest complaint was how filthy the front door (the part above and below the knob) was. It needs to be wiped down ASAP! I cringed everytime someone touched it. 😩

Went a couple hours before they closed and they cooked the food fresh, it was so good! If we were local we definitely would eat here all the time. Recommend for tourists to try. The plantains and Brussels were our favorite. My girlfriend said she could have just eaten those and would have been happy with the meal. The chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly and very well seasoned. A great choice for our first time in New Orleans! They were also really nice!

Oxtail was sooo tasty. Everyone loved their dish. Wonderful people who cook and serve. They put a lot of heart and soul in their cooking and their service. One of the small few hidden gems in New Orleans. Small and personal atmosphere. Felt like family cooking for you.

We were in the patio area with laid-back vibes while reggae music was played in the background. Wonderful people run this restaurant. If you want good Jamaican food, you have to come here.

This was such a delicious treat. Had the Oxtails which came with peas and rice and 2 sides. It's small and clean dining area with a easy family environment. My cousin had the Jerked chicken plate, peas and rice with 2 sides. My cousin told me that she's been on the hunt for the best Jerked chicken in New Orleans and thinks she's found it. As proof she ordered the same thing to go for her husband. I can't wait to return to this black owned family run business.

One of my favorite places to eat in the whole city and we always make sure to come whenever we’re in town. Food is phenomenal and can’t go wrong with the jerk chicken, rasta pasta, plantains, or crawfish boulettes. We loved the food so much, we had it catered for our wedding! Shaka and Caron are incredibly sweet and it shows within the food and atmosphere of their restaurant.

I went with a group of six on a Friday night. Service was extremely friendly and helpful, the patio had fans and a few citronella candles to help keep flies away, and YALL. THIS FOOD. I’ve lived in New Orleans my whole life and this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. From the beans and rice to the jerk chicken nachos to the oxtails, everything was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. (Also the cocktails were on point!) I will definitely be back.

While visiting new orleans, I had come across this place on maps while looking around for a good place to eat. The reviews convinced me to at least go and give it a try. I was impressed. This was the first time getting Jamaican good and I highly enjoyed it. The people were very friendly and helpful. I had the oxtail with the Caribbean fries and sweet mash and gf had the jerk chicken sandwich. My food was very fresh and delicious as long with my gfs. I hope that you guys continue to thrive with your great service and food.

Waited a long time to visit. Sorry it took so long yet it was worth the wait. A welcoming, mind-calming atmosphere with excellent customer service. Take-out food was still hot when I reached home. The Jerk-Chicken with spouts, brocolli, rice was pure perfection. The seasoning/spices created a second-line in my mouth. A joyful time. The music is authentic and non-consuming. Afrodisiac catered my birthday party today. All my guests loved it! The food (appetizers) and drinks were wonderful. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The setup is perfect: inside seating, a covered back porch with the bar, and the back yard with tables and seating. The owner, Shaka, played Caribbean music for my themed party. What a blast! Highly recommended.

The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere gives off a tropical island vibe. Last but not least, the food was outstanding.

The food was delicious and seasoned well! We had the Jerk Shrimp as an appetizer and Oxtails and Jerk Lamb Chops for the main course. There was a little wait for our food, but worth the wait.
