We placed a take out order today for lunch paid and picked up the order they packed up in the bag got back to the office and the fish sandwich and fries where not in the bag called and told them it’s about 40 min round trip. I had assumed they would have made a fresh sandwich and fits when I drove back but no they didn’t … they gave me a bag with cold fries and wet soggy fish No apology at all

Anania's is my go to place for italians when visiting Maine. Did not disappoint. Tasty, fresh and filling. Highly recommend and will visit again when I travel to Maine again.

Manager John is rude and impatient, I wouldn’t shop here.

Had Anania's cater another event and they didn't disappoint. Primavera, Ziti, Baked Ziti, meatballs, and salad. They killed it. Food was excellent. The 3 stars for atmosphere is not a dig on them. It's not a sit down restaurant.

Finally we found a place to eat good food..and friendly, the steak n cheese sub with green peppers n onions was, well.. out of this world with flavors! It's was worth every penny, full of all ingredients. The fries was just yummy, flavor n texture was spot on... We enjoyed them for sure. If you're ever in the area..stop in you won't be disappointed..

I love their Big Deal breakfast! But all the food is good. Gluten free options as well.

Authentic environment with reasonably priced food and general items. Also the best sub sandwich I’ve ever had. Recommend the loaded steak sub. Breakfast was also wonderful - got the breakfast wrap. Staff goes above and beyond in service. I forgot a small bag with souvenirs at the table and they held it for me until the next day, not even knowing if I’d be back. Great place! Glad I found it.

They have the best chicken parm sub in Maine! It's so good I haven't tried anything else. One of the guys has tried the cuban and pastrami sandwiches and loved them Any time we're in southern Maine we go there. Usually the one on Congress street.

First-timer at this local staple. Got a Roast beef and Swiss sub. Perfect proportion of meat and veg. And the bread!! Oh I feel so excited to find bread that made me feel like I’m coming home. Kind and fast service. I’ll be back.

incredibly rude, ordered a cheese pizza and the guy on the phone sighed and said “wow ok” then proceeded to say “30 minutes” without asking if I was finished ordering, then slammed the phone down 🤩

Well it had to have been the absolute worst fish sandwich in New England! It was burnt..dry..flavorless. my husband thought if he took another bite he'd get food poisoning. Don't get me wrong, cute place, maybe it was just a bad day...but I truly doubt that

This was my first time going to Ananias. The gal at the counter was very nice. The sandwich I got was really good and the service was fast. I found them to be pricey but I will be going back.

Great food, never disappointed. But Mr. Personality (older gentlemen with glasses) who works on Saturday nights needs a class in customer relations & i am sure the business is losing money because he also shuts the ringer off. But everyone else there is great & personable!!

If you’ve been missing customer service in general since covid, this is the place for you! They value customer service and always share a smile while doing their best to earn your business! Great spot to grab breakfast on the go and a beverage to start the day!

My "NEW & REGULAR" sandwich/pizzeria...I mean EVERYTHING IS FANTASTIC!!! GIVE IT A TRY AND I PROMISE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED ONE BIT!!! YUM

The food was great but the staff made me feel extremely unwelcome. I literally overheard them discussing about how to not sell me any more food so that way I would leave. Disgusting.

Decent place. 8.00 for a 7 inch salami sub. With 2 very thinly sliced piece of meat. Overpaid for this veggie sandwich.

I went there on a Saturday evening to order food for me and my family. They were so disorganized, the gentleman taking my order continuously walked away in mid sentence, was swearing, made me feel like I should leave. I asked if I should go somewhere else, he said, "your choice... naw we got it." The food was great but it was packaged in a way that everything was crushed. Really bummed since I live right up the road and I hate leaving anything put positive reviews.

If it's possible for a chicken parmesan sandwich to melt in your mouth it happens at Ananias! It's just wonderful, tender chicken, tasty sauce and melted cheese on a bulkie roll that's as soft as a baby's butt-Yum!

Worse place ever to get a sandwich. I got a roast beef and an hour after eating it. I was puking my guts out. Turns out I had food poisoning. Called to complain and the lady sassed me saying that "food poisoning doesn't work like that" food poisoning can happen thirty minutes to an hour after consuming said food. Do not recommend

Tomight i placed an order for me and my wife and called at 7:25 to place it and asked what time they closed and the gentleman said at 8 so i said id be there before because i live around the corner. At 7:54 i was 5 feet from the door as the worker was racing to lock the door in my face and flicked the lights off. The sign on the door said 8pm so i knocked on the door to see both workers ignoring me so as a long time customer and daily visitor i feel as though i was not treated very nicely and made a joke of by the workers which ive never in many years been treated this way so if anyone is ever running late and thinks that they just made it to the store be aware that the door could very well be locked no matter if its before 8 or not!!!!!!!!!!

Everything here is good and they also have gluten free choices but I especially love their chicken salad which is phenomenal, I usually get it with lettuce onions tomatoes and Greek olives but aby combo would be delicious.

After not eating out for years due to celiac as well as (anaphylactic) tomato allergy, I had the best sub today! Not a big bread person but the G-Free sub roll was excellent, just the right amount of bread with a delish taste!! It was bigger than I expected as well, gluten free tends to be smaller. I appreciate so much how my tomato allergy was spoken about to the person making my sandwich and care was taken while making it! It's hard to trust people making your food when you have serious allergies but I will for sure be trusting the people at Anania's again. Thanks for the delish food, I look forward to trying my whoopie pie and blueberry muffin!!

Usually good experience however recently they have stopped answering the phone after a certain time. Tried to call in an order at 6:30 (they close at 8) and no one answered. I drive there because I was already on my way and they are open. While waiting for my food I notice they are ignoring all phone call orders. Weird to say the least and has happened several times over the last few months. Funny that another review mentioned noticing that as well. Guess they don't want the business.

Got a poor boy sandwich, was expecting classic poor boy, instead they gave me a ham mayo and cheese with tomatoes… don’t know what they were thinking on this one

Easy stop to grab hot or cold ready to go or order onsite items. Nice selection of local craft beers, wines or champagne as well as non alcoholic beverages to grab with your meal. Fresh salads and sandwiches in the cooler as well as items to take home and heat later. Call ahead or order in pastas, hot subs, pizzas to go as well. Limited parking, however not hard to get in and out. Nice spot with friendly staff and deserts to take with you.

Old school places like this are few and far between. They do a nice job, have tasty food and a healthy dose of nostalgia. I wish there were more places like this around.

This Neighborhood Deli has a great menu for Hot n cold sandwiches. Best Handmade Italian sandwiches and Lobster rolls. Voted Best of the Best the past 20 years.

Walked 7 min from the train station because we were early! Had a cold spicy Italian and a hot steak and cheese - they were so good!!!! Staff were so kind, service was great! Small, quaint - get a drink and food for the road plus a sandwich all in the same place! Highly recommend!!!

Great pizza. The "award winning" Whoopie Pie was no better than average, kinda dry cake and nothing special about the filling.

Food is excellent but, the older man that works the counter is very rude. I go in at least twice a week - the food is always great. Tonight, I tried to call for a half hour, couldn’t get through so, I drove there & arrived at 7:20-7:30 (they close at 8). There was not one person in the store - the man was just ignoring the phones while the other gentleman was already cleaning the grill. There was a grey haired guy running the counter who was hostile, rude & very unwelcoming. I work overnights, on a road crew, this was my dinner and the only thing I will probably eat tonight - I’m grateful I got to order food but, a cold sandwich and a miserable experience was definitely not what I had in mind. Not sure I’ll be back….

Best gluten free sub I’ve ever had!! Amazing home-made bread!

A convenience store doesn't always scream "culinary deliciousness", especially where we are from in Cleveland, OH. However, Anania's was a game-changer! I got a fish sandwich, was was delicious even if it was from a seaside restaurant. My wife got a HUGE and delicious piece of lasagna. Those whoopie pies are something else! Wow!

Just had the lasagna dinner... absolutely delicious! Great sandwiches as well.

I didn't realize I was walking into a legend. Fantastic Italian based sandwich shop and bodega. I wouldn't need a grocery store if I lived by this place. Top quality Maine Italian and anything you want to drink. I got a cider. Highly recommend.

Great place for a classic Italian and a chocolate milk. Tomatoes could be more ripe, but other than that pretty good. The worker forgot the salt and pepper, but maybe he was doing me a favor.

Why eat a a fast food chain when you can have choices at Ananis's

Great sandwiches, pizzas, many other choices, including fruit and salads. I walked there from the Concord Bus Station. Almost 1/2 mile easy walk, only one street to cross with light.

Tried calling ahead 2-3 times tonight in the span 30 min for a pizza, phone would ring multiple times and give a fax noise. When I went in the shop had 1 person making pizza and the other 2 hanging around, thought 30 min time there I heard the phone ring multiple times with employees hanging out laughing and joking about how none of them answered.

My buffalo chicken sub was wet with sauces, the chicken was cold and my husband's steak sub had a string (?) in it? Worst sandwich around.

If ever coming to Portland Maine this place is a must. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was exquisite. Quite honest in the top 3 that I have ever had.

Old school double ham and cheese!! So thick! That's the way they made 'em in the 80s! Hard to find anyone who makes sandwiches with more than 2 slices of ham. This place is great!

Some of the best hot and cold sandwiches around. The cheese steak and cold Italian are my personal favs, but can't go wrong with anything.

Once or twice a week I'll stop in here and get some of their in-house sugar donuts. They're delicious. And the people who work there are friendly and it's the kind of place I like to stop on my way to work.

It's a great local store. They make good sandwiches and grilled hotdogs. You can't walk away without getting one or two homemade treats 🙂

My boyfriend and I went in for coffee at about 1:25 p.m. And, of course there was no longer any out, being afternoon and all. But, the man at the front counter (owner?), was very kind and offered us what he had for coffee left in a big, metal coffee pot behind him. He gave it to us for half price. It was good coffee, too!! Nice store and great customer service!

Grabbed lunch while in Portland for Doctor appointment, chicken Caesar wrap was absolutely fabulous, hubby’s cheesesteak was good (he’s from PA, so never gonna be as good as home), and peanut butter Whoopie pie was awesome. Hope to go back next week, have another doctor appointment

DELICIOUS food, great service and very polite staff. My personal favorite is their capicola Italian add chicken salad, and a gluten-free whoopie pie; So good! Highly recommended.

Ate there several times while visiting. Good food for a fair price *edit* Live here now and can’t speak better of the place. Price is cheap but quality is excellent. FYI if they are open they will make anything on the menu…Cheese burger at 530am? Done. It’s the #1 choice for the guys at my work.

This place was such a pleasant surprise! Stored because of airport run, but had A Fabulous crab sandwich. My husband said even his tuna was exceptional.

For the first time since I left Maine 7 years ago, I had the sandwich that I loved so much when I lived here, (it was always my favorite place for a hot or cold sandwich , and ofcourse pizza (Anania's is the best) the other sandwiches shops do not compare! I am so happy to be home! Thank you Anania's...there is no place like Maine, and you have the best food ever! Joyce

These folks were swamped during my visit with a lot of out of state guests on a weekend but my order was made quickly and correctly and the service was great. I had a train to catch and they made sure to get me out the door with my order with plenty of time to spare. Definitely my neighborhood go-to!

They do a great job, the place is clean, plenty of staff to assist convenience store items with an Italian twist and breakfast lunch and dinner Meg's the sandwiches pizza subs and Italian dinners the lotto full beverage and friendly atmosphere you could sit down and eat your sandwich. I wouldn't say it's dine in. I work I could surely rest any the bar type seating available. Follow the specials.
