Best dive bar on the west side! Chill spot with fun vibes. There are two pool tables and several screens, a modern jukebox and more. All the bartending staff are great, kind and respectful, each one with their character and grit while friendly.

As an outtowner who was seeking a drink we enjoyed ourselves.

Have been there numerous times and always a wait. Had the bright idea of going at 5 pm on a Thursday No one there but a couple at the bar 4 -5 servers and a bartender and a manager Was seated and sat, and sat and sat One server was chatting with the bar customers,3 at the bar chatting among themselves and one in the vestibule for some reason Waited 10 minutes No one offer water No one offered a drink No one came over in an empty restaurant Usually if busy I would call someone over But 5 servers in an empty restaurant that has entrees from 40 - $130 ? So we left and walked down to a real restaurant The Tasting Room Go there instead until you live to be ignored

Great locals bar. lots of friendly people. You're allowed to bring your dog inside. Endless parking for free. There's a table outside you can sit down and enjoy your drink. Easy to find Coke. Death metal is forbidden on the jukebox, if you try to play it they will turn it off. If you grew up in the West LA area there's a good chance you'll bump into someone you haven't seen for years in banter bar

The food was above average for the Frederick area. Very cool decor and atmosphere. Super lounge area upstairs. Most impressive was the staff. Every member of staff, from being greeted at the door, to the servers and bartenders, everyone had amazing attitudes. It was evident that they enjoy working at H&B, which may prove to be H&B's secret to success in the ever-cycling turnover of restaurants, and may keep its clientele coming back. Note to H&B: Keep your people, and keep them happy...it's working wonders for you! Special thanks to Amanda, a stellar server and lovely person to have met.

An amazing place to hang out! There’s pool, there’s good cheap drinks, there’s amazing bartenders. If you want a cute dive bar, just do it.

Nice place, only issue I faced is they demand larger tips and call it out loudly. "In AMERICA you have to tip, my other bartenders will not put up with it" the seemingly cool lady Emily running the place told me across the counter in front of her reguler guests... So just a heads up for new guests who are "new to AMERICA", carry equal money to pay for taxes and tips to avoid being embarassed. I did write the tip later although demanding extra money seemed bit rude, at first it seemed racist but I shrugged it off as culturally specific to AMERICAN bar owners who don't pay good wages to their servers!! Other patrons are warm and I saw them regularly on my 3 or 4 visits which makes the atmosphere familiar.

Amazing ambience feels like home. Staff is so friendly and patient. Pool tables. Karaoke. Cool music. Free snacks. Every NFL game. Kings hockey. Really just feels like my second living room at this point with all my friends! What a great local bar. Check it out!

Banter is the hottest local bar you may not have been to yet. It’s the real new Barney’s, but it’s its own thing as well. Fun. Hot bartenders. Local. Divey, but elevated. You just have to check it out.

Nice bar. Plenty of off-street parking in the rear. Nice atmosphere, with excellent service, but due to government greed and other factors (as all places), prices are a bit high, as usual. I will be back.

Love Banter Bar! My friends and I always stop by for a game of pool. Staff is super friendly and the vibe is totally down to earth. Definitely one of my favorite to go places to unwind and have fun.

Great place with amazing crowd! Came by on a Friday recently for the first time…stayed from early afternoon till last call 🫠 the opener was a very nice gentleman and the smallish amount of customers were mostly older 50+ shooting pool hanging out. The two pool tables are wonderful with new cloth and balls! Really nice equipment for not being a pool hall. As it got later Emily (Banter Bar owner,) took over and the place soon filled up with a much younger crowd. The service was excellent even with heavy traffic and there’s tons of space for different groups to hang out. The layout is extraordinary! Comfy couches and booths, tvs, outdoor patio, etc etc everything you could want in a bar! Come thirsty and ready to mingle…everyone is very friendly and engaging without having to know each other. 6/5 ⭐️

WOW! Unbelievable menu for all diets! Everything was so fresh. Service outstanding. I had bacon bourbon battered wings with super fresh, creamy blue cheese & the house salad. Soooooo good. Husband had scallops, clams, fish. We absolutely loved it. Sitting at the bar was divine.

Really a cool place, great drinks, and the food was very good. Our server Stacey was also the best. I do wish they had a few more options for entrees, but we had great meal and the service was also awesome! Would love to come here for drinks some day.

Been coming here for years, since it was Gabe's before Emily, the most recent owner took over. It's a great spot. Great local crowd most nights. On the weekends it's a fun party crowd that is quite eclectic, from 21 year old college students to the old regulars. Definitely a fun place to play some pool.

One of my favorite bars in LA. Very much neighborhood bar vibes that is welcoming to everyone. The bartenders are simply the best around. Fun events like karaoke on Wednesday and frequently hosting bands, DJs, potlucks, watch parties, etc. Lots of TVs for sports or any big televised event, pool tables, great drinks. What more could you want?

I’ve been coming to this bar for the last 2 years and I absolutely love it. After work me and my coworkers would come straight here and if you’re here for some good drinks and a bit of pool then you’re in the right way place.

I enjoy dive bar atmospheres and Banter Bar is top tier in the category. It’s small with a strong sense of community, is impressively clean, serves delicious standard AND craft cocktails, and all at more than reasonable prices. Emily and her team do an incredible job!

Great vibes great drinks and great service what can you want

Unfortunately had a not so pleasant experience trying out this bar. Came on a Wednesday after work just wanting a quiet dive bar to grab a beer on my way home from work. The place wasn't super crowded bit it still took at least 15 minutes for the bartender to notice me, a single female standing at the bar, and only did so after walking by me to do something else. I asked if they had a beer list obviously not seeing one pr the beers she gestured towards sitting on a shelf in the dark above the well lit bar. It took me all of 5 seconds to see and decide on a beer but by then she was gone, having not even paused in her walk back to the well. I bartend too so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited for her to return but eventually even the random dude next to me made a comment about how he felt sorry for me and was surprised I still didn't have a drink. After another 5 plus minites (there's a big digital clock) I gave up and left returning to my car 30 minutes from leaving it not having gotten my "quick" beer ony way home. Needless to say I drive the mile down the road to the Cozy and got a beer within the first 3 minutes of arriving...more expensive yes, but for actually being noticed/served? Priceless

First and last visit for us. Overpriced crowded and tasteless food. Waiter was less than interested in our table after we did not order his recommendations of Crab Cake at $46 or the Scallops at $37. Drink glasses were empty for both of us more than once. Very loud atmosphere that probably is over the occupancy limit. The food was truly without taste only flavor was the salt added to our meals. The fries were undercooked. The chicken empanadas tasted like they were from Sam's Club. I would rather eat Wendy's or 5 Guys than spend another minute in that place eating that crap. Much better places within walking distance save your money and pick something else!

My sister and brother-in-law and I went to visit Gettysburg and then stopped at this restaurant. There were only four small tables outside and we ate inside. It is a quaint bar setting. The server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered some wine and beers and shared very good egg rolls. I was an out of town guest and so was encouraged to order the crab cakes which were very expensive (I guess this is true all over the Baltimore area) but delicious. My sister had the Seoul Asylum (fried chicken with house kimchi, macaroni salad, Korean BBQ sauce and sriracha). My brother-in-law got the fish and chips. We all liked our food and the service.

Karaoke Wednesdays & Sundays 9-1a. Good times, great vibes 😎

We went on a Friday evening and had a 45 minute wait as restaurant is very small with few tables. We could not even wait at the bar as there was no room there so we were told we should wait at a neighboring bar. Once seated, waiter took our drink order and bar was out of a very popular rum. Menu choices were rather limited but we settled on the strip tease steak, Kidd burger, and pork chop. Burger was nothing special. The steak and pork chop were $36 each and not worth the price. The majority of the steak was fat and not flavorful. Vegetables on the side were extremely small and no salad or bread was served with entrees. We also had crab egg rolls which were okay and crab dip which had more cheese than crab in it. We also had apple crisp, a lemon tart, and beignets for dessert, none which were exceptional. Overall, our meals were not worth the high price we paid. There are too many other better options in area.

Restaurants are for eating and may also serve wine and drinks. Pubs are for drinking and eating together. Bars are for drinking. This is a good bar. Enjoy.

We stopped by this hopping, dimly lit restaurant and bar after getting a recommendation from our bed and breakfast. We were told the wait for a table would be an hour (no reservations) - but two seats at the bar were available right away - which we snapped up. The bustling atmosphere under a bank of televisions made it seem a bit less sophisticated - but the food told a different story. The egg rolls (filled to the brim with crab meat and on a bed of salad) were wonderful and the amount of crab made the $25 price tag seem worth it. After that, I had the pork chop (large and flavorful with ribs included), which came with heirloom carrots (perhaps could have been cooked or seasoned a bit better). My partner had the scallops (four scallops on a large bowl of grits), and was less excited about his meal. Service at the bar was adequate and it was enjoyable watching the bar staff work - as they had large and friendly personalities. I would go back again for sure.

Your overall experience will likely depend on the table seating and how many waiting patrons are hovering around you. (A negative for our meal and reflected in this rating). Food is presented well and tasty (it was not 5-star on our visit, but I can tell the menu is good and kitchen has skills. Worth your time, though other restaurants will have better outdoor space.

We sat at the bar on our way home from Baltimore to Ohio on a Saturday afternoon. The food and drinks were very good but what made it was our bartender, Jeff. He was excellent!

Such a nice place! I really enjoyed my time. Has a good vibe (like an old place near by, but much much clearer!) Of course I'll be back! Emily is great as always! Will be back to see Susie!

Absolutely horrible experience. The main reason we came was for the filet wellington mini appetizer. The taste was very good and although the meat was overcooked, we knew there was no way to make these otherwise. These were very overpriced, whereas you get 3 of them for $15 and they equate to the size of a pig in the blanket. That was pretty much the highlight of our dinner. We decided to split two different meals and ordered the dirty cheesesteak and the banter. When the French fries are the highlight of your meal, it really is not good. First, the banter was tasty, but they shred the corn beef and there are a lot of pieces that are very tough and dry, although it did have a good flavor. The kicker to the meal was the dirty cheese steak, which the 2 bites I took were very good, until I found the hair in the sandwich from the chef. We had cut the sub and we found the other half of the hair in the other half of the sandwich. We told our waitress, Abby, who said “obviously we will buy that back from you”. Without even getting as much as a sincere apology, she asked if I wanted to order something else. I told her I wanted to get the same thing but was told they were now out of it so we should order something else. At that point, I was beyond frustrated as that was the only thing, I wanted off the VERY LIMITED, but pricey menu. I decided to just make it simple and order the crab dip. It came out and was decent. So much cheese that it was oily but still decent. It had a strong fish/crab flavor and mixed with the cheese was not that great, but had I not had a hair in my sub and not been frustrated I would have been ok with it. We ate half of it and then just asked for the check, which came back with the crab dip on the bill. During this time, we had never had a manager come out and apologize for the hair in the food. They just did not care. My wife asked the waitress why they were not comping us for the crab dip since it was not what we wanted and for what had happened. She corrected it but the whole time her attitude was basically not caring about the customer. The fact that nobody came out to even talk to us told us this was a place that we will not give a second try. Things happen and we understand, but it is the attitude and how things are handled afterwards that makes a successful business.

I have been to H&B a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and the drinks are always good. I have tried all the top rated restaurants on trip advisor and I don't think anything comes close to Hootch. The service is always excellent and the food is always consistently great. The upstairs lounge area they open up on the weekends is a great vibe too. I haven't tried their brunch yet but I can't wait to.

Brunch was unbelievable! My wife, daughter and I ate here on a Saturday morning. Each of our dishes were amazing. Highly recommend the Biscuits and Gravy if that’s a dish you enjoy. Great service, very clean and the tables are spaced out well on the inside. Highly recommend and we look forward to having another meal here soon
