Been going to JSB since it was it in DTLA. My pop would order three short rib plates, plus an order of fries with catsup for the ride home. My bros and sis still remember. Can't wait to go again, live the shrimp. Not to mention the chili......

It’s was Ok. It was baby shrimp with a ton of batter on them which makes them look big but they’re not. It’s mainly batter. I wish the shrimp were bigger because it was actually tasty. The beans and rice was good and they gave me a whole plate of rice, beans and gravy. All in all I paid 17$ for 6 mini shrimp and a ton of beans rice and gravy.

Deep fried shrimp 'Nuff said Best around A staple in LA for those in the know. My mother was a native from LA (as am I) and shared this gem and I passed it forward to my oldest son

Food not bad... But the original I think was better..🤔😏

I ordered the 6 pc shrimp for $10. The fried shrimp looked huge on the plate, but biting into them revealed they were mostly breading. The fried dough was mushy and wet and not cooked all the way.

When I was a child dad would surprise us with s trip to Johnny's Shrimp Boat on 3rd and Main Street in downtown Los Angeles. The Main street location is long gone, but the one on Whittier Blvd. east of soto reminds me of my childhood. Now I drop by once, or twice, a year I drop in for the breaded shrimp.

Family tradition to go here since I was a little lad...get the chili rice with crackers, then order a cheeseburger and then as you eat the burger place some chili rice on it... you'll love it 😋😄

Wonderful Mom and Pop, good place that my family has been going to for about 30 years. Jumbo shrimp is great. Non shrimp food is good and doesn't taste like seafood.

I have always loved their food you can't go wrong here loved it before and always will this is my first place to go and eat if I had a choice to go anywhere else.

The shrimp was on another level. The people working there are really nice. Also, I got more bang for my buck, with the chili rice. I don't think I'll eat again till tomorrow

I've been having Johnny's food since I was a kid, but haven't had it since 2019. Today I ordered my usual shrimp combo plate and it tasted the same as always...wonderful. Awesome comfort food.

The Wait was Over, 10 yrs after I came for those Delicious Jumbo Carne Asada full of Flavor tacos. To my surprise, they stopped selling them. I bought something else, just not to go empty handed, and to say Hi to my buddy old pal.

Fish tacos are amazing along with the green salsa and victors great attitude and service, I’d eat here everyday if I could

Love this place the food the service everything love love love I don't mind the drive.. This was my first time here and boy I was so impressed with their batter and fish. The prices did scare me for a moment but their servings are good for the process and the food is Soo so good I can't wait to go back. Service was awesome and the atmosphere is great. Small place but mighty in their food....

This place takes you back in time. In the 60's Johnny's shrimp boat was super popular. Open 24/7. Unfortunately it was on Main Street in skid row. Nothing compared to the horror of skid row now. Food tastes exactly the same. Fair prices, large quantities. Still love it.

Never being there before but the food is delicious definitely will return again

The fish and shrimp combo was great. Wasn't too pricy and definitely worth the price. The burger combo is amazing as well, for about 8 bucks you get a burger, fries and a drink all prepared fresh. Before I graduated high-school I'd stop by occasionally to buy myself some after school lunch, on a couple of occasions I stopped by with some friends and I really enjoyed eating the food and spending time with them. I hope this place keeps going strong

Every time I get the chance to eat there it brings back so many memories of Downtown LA main street after the clubs😋

Still one of the old time favorites from the early 50s used to be on main Street in downtown LA and now it's in our beautiful backyard of Boyle heights so glad to have them here and the recipes have remained the same thank you pork chops with gravy beans rice shrimp all those decadent dishes that you dream about!

Came here to reminisce! My parents would take us to the Original one on Main St in DTLA in the late 70s. The food is as I remember it, greasy and consistent. This is not for the healthy conscious, but it's good all the same. Must go, as it is an old LA staple.

My favorite place in Boyle Heights. Grew up enjoying Johnny's shrimp boat since back in downtown L.A. in the 70's. My #1 place to stop and eat everytime I go to visit L.A. - I highly recommend it. There hamburger steak and shrimp with there special chili sauce or chili👍😋😋😋Delicious

Best fried shrimp in town. Very delicious and very delicious hot dipping sauce. Chili cheese fries are also good to get. Short Ribs are a great plate to get with everything with it.

Classic Shrimp like old Downtown location

It is famously known for their fried shrimp, fries and/steamed riced covered with beans and gravy. Sounds like an odd combination but it is Good!!! My family started in at their main downtown LA location DECADES AGO before it was sadly torn down. This food is always HOT and fresh! Now I have come to enjoy their Teriyaki Chicken!Chunks of grilled chicken breast covered in teriyaki sauce poured over a layer of steamed rice. 😋😋😋

Coolest guy working there. Been there for many years. Best food in town. Hope they never change their menu or taste.

Best shrimp Ever! An the Gentleman that took my order, was super nice very professional an considering I had 3 different orders,got all my orders right to go.

Food is very, very good. Especially the shrimp.and short ribs. The only issue I have is that they are very, very expensive. You can easily spend $50 for 3 people ordering 3 plates and 3 drinks. Thats way, way too much for their set-up.

I had their shrimp fish combo with rice and chili. I loved everything. The fish is juicy and melts in your mouth. The rice and chili had a great flavours as well.

Friend took me to eat lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit of a strange combination, but I ate all my food so it can't have been that bad! Got the beef short ribs combo with shrimp. Comes with salad, beans, and rice. There is a fosters freeze next door too, so you can get dessert right after.

The O.G. Johnny’s shrimp boat used to be on Main Street I haven’t been there in years but I will be going for my Birthday I hope it taste the same. Grand central Market on Broadway in downtown L.A. had good shrimp and fries just like Jonny’s

1st time there. The shrimp was yummy.Got the 16 pieces with fries. Mom & I feasted. Good & filling. We will go back soon. Best to take out.😁

Love their fried shrimp and fish with the red sauce on the side, with a big plate of rice and beans with gravy. Everything here I delicious.

Was closed mondays they close at 5pm all other days 8pm. Of course i went on a monday

This is probably my favorate sea food I have taken. It is located in the pier 39, second floor. It is convenient to book a seat in advance using Google. Despite of this, we still wait for 1 hour. We ordered lobster tail, bread, penne, white wine. We ate a lot, and spent a lot of money as well. 120+ dollar.

Excellent customer service. Yummy too! A Boyle Heights staple. While I visited...a long-time client came in and said he had moved to Chino, CA...but that when he was in the area he ALWAYS eats here at Johnny's. They already knew his order and what kind of sauce he wanted. Now THAT'S attention to detail at it's FINEST. I'll definitely be back to try the teriyaki, but the chili cheeses fries were MASSIVE and TOTALLY ON POINT. ❣

This place is definitely nothing like the originals Johnny's shrimp boat. I never remember getting salad and beans on my 🍤 plate. Then to top it off, you only get two 🍤 shrimps on your special. All I'm saying is that it's not the same as 2nd and spring st, downtown LA. Enjoy your meal 😋
