I really wanted to like this place, I feel like it had all the ingredients of a place I'd enjoy, but nothing clicked here. The $65 deal for a salad, pasta, pizza and 2 aperol spritz was great, and the food (when it eventually came out was tasty), but man the service and atmosphere were so bad ... huge air conditioner blowing an obscene amount of AC directly on my table on a cold night, server didnt come by for 30 minutes to take orders, no one came by during the meal, they "forgot" to make the pizza so disjointed service with the dishes coming out very far apart, and then I got double charged on the bill for a second pizza that I never ordered. Maybe a one off bad experience, but it was a bad experience and definitely wont be coming back :(

5/5 experience every single time. I’ve been here 4 times now and the food is consistently great.

Slow service even when not busy. They forgot a friend’s order, so we sat around while food got cold waiting for their dish. Water canister not refilled even once. Out of several menu items and they don’t tell you until you ask for it. Once several items aren’t available, I feel like you should let patrons know before ordering. Great food once you get it. Pricey. Why are the wobbly plexiglass dividers still up?

One of the best Italian places we’ve been to in Seattle. We went for a date night - make sure you are there early enough! It is a small place and pretty busy. Do not miss the bruschetta- I don’t think it I’ve had better bruschetta anywhere else.

Very cute cap hill neighborhood pizzeria and casual Italian food. Pasta is outstanding. We did not try pizza but many other patrons have them and they look amazing. We plan to return to try them. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The only funky thing is their music 😅... Kind of new age techno Japanese tunes and quite loud. Music is obviously a very personal choice, and we appreciate this place has a lot of character. It is played to the level that if you aren't into it, it may bug you. Just something to consider. ***7/23 Edit: sorry i should have specified that this is an overdue review on a visit in early June, not from last night. The Flaming Lips pl actually sounds pretty good!

Hands down the best Italian restaurant I've visited in Seattle so far. The campagnia pizza was amazing and so was the grilled brocolli. The waitress was also so kind! They also have a happy hour before dinner and an hour before closing.

Great atmosphere, playlist, pizza, and drinks! The campagna, Margherita, and funghi are all recommended!

This is a hidden gem. The restaurant sits on 2nd Street and may not get as much traffic as first ave. However, this place is special. The food is excellent and includes a nicely priced set of pizzas and pastas. Wine selection is good. The service is superb, the restaurant has a great vibe and they are “all in” taking care of customers.

it okay. really don't understand the hype - arugula salad was laughably underseasoned - it was just arugula and cheese! no dressing! pizza was alright but really not worth the talk, and the foccacia.. god, the foccacia.. this is flatbread! flavorless flatbread! no bubbles, no chew, no flavor, just sandpaper! the servers were nice and the ambiance was okay, but probably not coming back again 🥹

Amazing pizzas and great place for a date night or a double date!

disappointing…we put our name on the waitlist and told our table would be ready in an hour, so we went and had a drink elsewhere and came back 45 minutes later. they told us to wait another 30 minutes since they gave our table away as it was ready 30 min prior. we asked if we could leave our phone number so we know when a table is ready but they said they don’t do that. I guess they just expect customers to stand on the sidewalk for an hour since theres no where to sit and wait. also the host didn’t seem to know what was going on and couldn’t give accurate waiting times.

The $65 dinner for 2 special is an unbeatable deal!! Probably the best bolognese I’ve had in a restaurant so far. All the food we had was delicious. They even had n/a Aperol Spritz

Stellar experience with staff, food and atmosphere. From pizza to salamis to lively lovely efficient bartender-waiter to dessert and coffee, we all so thoroughly enjoyed our early evening there. The playlist was so fun and we were able to have a relaxing meal & drinks while easily engaging in conversation. Friday 7 June was a good day all around. Thanks!

Excellent food, mostly pizza. Other tempting items on the menu. Full bar, cozy neighborhood atmosphere. It's one of my favorite places, the kind you hesitate to recommend because it's always busy as it is now.

Got the meal deal for two (takeout) and had a special request on the wine. Everything was fantastic, the food and the service. Excited to come back and eat at the restaurant.

This is the perfect spot for a date night! They make their pasta and pizza in house with homemade ingredients. Everything tastes fresh and is served with a smile. They have a great dinner deal where you pay $65 for a salad, pizza, pasta dish, and a bottle of house red or white wine that is the perfect amount of food for a price that cannot be beat in Seattle. I would also highly recommend the tiramisu off of the dessert menu.

For $65 you get a pizza pasta and salad and a house bottle of wine. Plenty of food for two , hard to beat. Expect about a 15-35 minute wait but it’s worth it.

2 stars because food is actually decent, however service is horrible. There were 5 of us dining in and they crammed us into a 4 seat dining table. We asked for an extra table so we could comfortably sit, especially bc we ordered a lot of food. The server refused, saying its only for a party of 6. The table we asked for was empty the entire time we were there. Ridiculous. If you have 3 people do you also seat them at 2 seater tables? Lol

Love this place. Came to Seattle to visit and stumbled across this gem. Bar tender is so friendly kind and full of genuine interaction. The food was is incredibly delicious and made with love. And the happy hour wine and beer tastes like it’s off the fancy menu

This was my first time dining at Bar Cotto and I am mad I haven’t discovered this place sooner. Bar Cotto is a must for anyone looking for a great italian spot. This restaurant has such a great atmosphere with amazing service… our waitress was so lovely. The spaghetti with meatballs was the best I’ve ever had… perfect texture. My partner got the Diavola Pizza and it was the best I’ve had in Seattle thus far… and I just moved here from NYC so I’ve been yearning for a delicious pie. The house red we had was delectable (oh and only $8 a glass) ! Lastly, we got the tiramisu for dessert and let me just say it was wiped clean the second it hit our table haha, again - perfect texture. Thank you so much Bar Cotto for a wonderful experience and we will definitely be returning many more times!

Bar Cotto is easily my favorite Italian place in all of Seattle! The food is fantastic, the bar is well stocked with lovely wines and the vibes are immaculate. You can’t really go wrong with their menu but I’d recommend the brussels sprouts and burrata from the antipasti, their Funghi and Diavola pizzas as well as their Pormodoro and Gnocchi among the pastas. The tiramisu is top notch and a great way to top off a meal! Christian and team are super fun and engaging, they’ll have you feeling at home whether you live in the neighborhood or are visiting from elsewhere.

One of my favorite spots for a date night! The prix fixe is perfect for two: salad, pasta, pizza, and a bottle of wine. Highly recommend if you want a delicious nice meal without breaking the bank.

I walked in in the mission of trying a new restaurant in Capitol Hill, and I left the place delighted by the food, service and experience. I ordered the three course happy hour meal, and it’s was the perfect experience to share with my partner. I was very thankful by the presentation of everything and the taste. The waitress was very engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. She went above and beyond so we could have a great experience. I loved the relaxing and intimate atmosphere the restaurant offers. Definitely a great environment to celebrate with your partner, go on a date or catch up with friends. Bar Cotto is definitely my new go to place when I want Italian food in Capitol Hill.

Unexpected gem of a relatively affordable Italian spot. The gnocchi is the best I've ever had bar none, it melted in our mouths! The burrata was incredible too. Highly recommend and good vegetarian options

Really happy this came up searching for "Italian". My partner and I came down from Vancouver for a few days and this restaraunt was a great first stop. Great deal for a 3 course meal with drinks. The pasta was the bomb, if I wasnt sharing that whole plate would have been gone in an instant. The pizza was great, but I think it sat out a bit too long so it was a bit cold coming to us. Didn't dissapoint taste wise though. The staff are friendly and hard workers. They seemed very busy for when we came. If we come back to Seattle anytime soon we will definitely stop here!

Tasty happy hour choices of appetizers and drinks.

Service was bad sitting outside on the sidewalk table. Though we were the last people sitting outside, out of sight should not be out of mind for restaurant patrons. The food was meh. The meatballs are just fine. A & O (anchovies & olives) pizza was an ode to badly pickled toppings, including capers that did not belong and some of the rankest canned anchovies I've ever had. They were accommodating of swapping mozzarella for the goat cheese for me on the seasonal salad with beets, but the listed pistachios disappeared without a word, and the beets were undercooked. The pepperonata pasta had gummy terrible rigatoni, but the lightly creamy red sauce was the best part of the meal. My aperol spritz was also nice. Overall we will not return. Not up to the price or the competition.

Grabbed take out twice. It's decent. My favorite is the spicy one with pineapple. Italian pizza is about the chewy flavorful dough, and despite being good it doesn't slap like some other Italian pizza spots at Cap Hill. There wasn't enough filing too.

Highly recommend the happy hour, it's a great deal! They also have a good dinner for 2 deal. Atmosphere and service was great! Now for the food: Brussels sprouts were good but a tad heavy (although wife liked them a lot) Meatballs were good, and the personal pizza was tasty and a great deal! It's more like 10". Panna cotta from the seasonal menu didn't have a strawberry reduction as listed on the menu, it was just some cut up strawberries. It kind of tasted like vanilla ice cream. Good but definitely not the best panna cotta I've had. Would recommend!

I was so happy to find a place where the margherita has buffalo mozzarella. The excitement didn’t last. The dough is not quite Neapolitan, not quite Roman either. The tomato and basil taste just ok. Also, please, US pizzeria, stop putting parmegiano on a margherita 🥲

Be careful when you get the final charge. The waiters usually charge more tip than you leave. I love this place and the food is delicious. Just be careful and check your account two days after you go and save your ticket with the tip.

Unbelievable pizza. Brandon the owner was very passionate about his craft. As I am very particular about my pizza, this place is the real deal and filled with people who actually care about their customers and what they serve. They even have TWO types of Grappa which is impressive in itself. Most pizza restaurants don’t even know what Grappa is, to have two styles to offer is often unheard of at a pizza/Italian restaurant. They also make their pasta homemade, which I will certainly be back to try. Thank you for such good food and a great experience. See you soon.

Good place for this area, attentive waiter

Really yummy food and a very pleasant atmosphere. Open kitchen, so the place is filled with a wonderful aroma of cooking. Not a large place, but seating is available for small groups, couples and singles. Laid back atmosphere with no rush to clear your table. Happy hour is a great way to get a drink (or two) and a sample of the menu for under $20.

What an incredible experience! We went the day after valentines which reasonably should be tired but we had an awesome date together accompanied by our friends pizza pasta and cocktail. The owner Brandon and server David made the experience over the top with excellent customer service. We prefer non corporate, small and intimate spots with high attention to detail and quality. This hit on all levels. An unexpected gem! Perfect for dates and affordable.

Popped in for a late dinner and we were that table that was so deep in conversation we took forever to order. All the staff were incredibly patient and kind. The food itself was delicious. The olives were wonderful, with orange zest and chili flake making them a unique and surprising bite. The fried Brussels were a favorite, and the focaccia, meatballs, and pizzas didn't disappoint. Will definitely return and recommend to friends. The bill was also surprisingly low at $37 each considering my companions had cocktails and wine and we ordered so much food.

Really can’t beat $50 for salad, pasta, pizza and a bottle of house wine! The food was fresh, flavorful, and filling. Everything paired so nicely together. The ambiance is dark but in a romantic way. My only complaint is that there is 5-6 tables max, so at times there is certainly a long wait and when I called they did not take reservations. Overall a great date night spot and we will definitely be back.

The $50 Dinner for Two is one of the best deals in all of Capitol Hill and definitely worth it! Portion sizes are good, definitely big enough for 2 hungry people. The Diavola Pizza and the Caesar Salad are absolutely delicious. The pasta isn’t the best, but the great $50 deal more than makes up for it. Highly recommend as a (relatively) inexpensive date spot with a great atmosphere and even better service.

$50 for a salad, a whole wood fired pizza, a whole serving of mouth watering pasta, and an entire bottle of wine. It was delicious and way more than we expected. This place is doing everything right. Service was great, Christian was polite and on top of it. We also took home a trifecta of salami for only $18. Tomorrow nights dinner is as good as done. Highly recommended.

I’ve been to barcotto a handful of times and every time has been exceptional. The pizza, pasta, and salad are excellent, and the wine is a great deal! Also a great takeout option!

Oh my goodness where do I start? To the deals, customer service, wine and food. Everything was absolutely wonderful. Has great atmosphere, slower dining, wonderful staff and an incredible experience. If you want a fun fine-dining date night without breaking the bank GO HERE!

The service was great, but the food was just okay. We got the 3 course option. The salad was simple but tasty, the pasta tastes store bought and the sauce was very watery, the pizza was decent and the wine was good for the price. Also, the table outside was partially broken.

So my life partner and I have been coming to bar cotto for about five years. We love it and want to share the reasons why: 1. The food is great. Happy hour munchies are great. And really a cut above the standard bar fare. 2. The wine is great. The standard house red is always great. The specific wines are also awesome. Usually Italian, but I’ve always been delighted with whatever in the offing. 3. Did I mention that the food is great? Salads, finger food, entrees, pasta, pizza, all good. Very much better than the generic “brick oven pizza” you see everywhere. 4. The people are great. The folks who work here are very much the opposite of the surly seattle bartender. This is our old standby. We love it just as much or more as when we first started coming. TLDR great place for Manhattan and olives and friendly conversation

This is the best place. Great value, lovely vibes, great bar. So accommodating, we got a huge party in here no issue and they were so sweet. Great place for a birthday happy hour or a cute lil date. Food is so yummy and they have a great deal for 2 with pizza and wine. One of my favorite places in cap hill.

The staff were great and the place has really nice vibes. However the food was major disappointment especially after reading the reviews on here. Our carbonara pizza came out and the egg was completely cooked through. This shouldn’t be allowed to leave the kitchen as the entire point is to let the egg run.

Fun pizza spot on Capital Hill in Seattle, WA. House red wine was quite tasty as was the Salsiccia (sausage) pizza I had on a Tuesday night. I showed up at 6:30 and the place was pretty empty but by the time I was done (an hour later) the place was really hopping. Super sweet server! Great place for a night out with a date or family. I’ll be back!

This place has been around for a while and has changed hands. These things obscure the fact this is the best artisanal pizza on Capitol Hill. Sorry, establishment and new kids on the block.

If you’re visiting, don’t waste your taste buds here. If you have a kitchen full of spices, then this pizza makes a good base. I ordered the margarita pizza & it was just a cheese pizza with a few leaves of basil.

Super cozy and vibrant atmosphere. The pizzas ranges from classics to twists on old favorites. I had the Parma and my partner had the diavolo, and both came out perfect. Dough was amazing, ingredients were fresh, drinks were unique and strong, and the owner was super nice and interesting.

The evening we had here was outstanding and I could not recommend this place enough! After seeing this restaurant on Tik Tok, we thought we'd give it a try, and boy did they not disappoint! We shared the $50 course deal which is unbeatable for the quality and quantity of the food. Every ingredient they used was incredibly fresh and fulfilling. Not to mention how much care the owner puts into ensuring you have the best experience possible, he went above and beyond. Weather you want to go for drinks, lunch, or a romantic dinner, this place has all the warm Italian vibes! This is our new favorite spot and we WILL be back!!

I really enjoyed myself here. The wine was delicious. We had a bottle of the Abruzzo with Burrata and Spaghetti Meatballs & Ricotta Gnocchi. Only giving four stars instead of five cause I didn’t think the pasta was great. To me it lacked flavor. But still good!

All in all this place was awesome there were just a few things that could be improved but I’d still 110% come back & we will!! We ordered the meatballs, Caesar salad, burrata, 2 Brussel sprouts, Parma and the A&O pizza, a calzone, and the pepperonata pasta. All the food was to die for except the salad, I think maybe they forgot to add the Caesar dressing. It had no flavor whatsoever! :( but the Brussel sprouts were some of the best I’ve ever had so totally made up for it! We placed the order online several hours in advance to be ready at 7pm and it wasn’t all ready until around 720pm. Not a huge deal, but maybe a time frame as opposed to an exact time when placing ahead could be helpful. The appetizers were ready closer to 7 but the pizza wasn’t so after 20 mins the appetizers weren’t as warm anymore once the pizza was done. Overall the food was delicious though & I think very well priced for quality and portions. And altho we didn’t dine in, the few interactions I had with their employees were great! Super kind.
