Chelsea and Alex are the ultimate dream team, along with their amazing staff. We hosted our wedding here last weekend and have nothing but fantastic things to say! It’s a beautiful venue with a great atmosphere, and the delicious food is the cherry on top. Couldn’t recommend this place enough for your next event or just to go chill and have a beer with your friends.

This establishment has a quaint and peaceful atmosphere. It also has a good selection of beverages. It’s a great place to stop for an afternoon.

We had our daughter's Bridal shower there last Sunday. It was a wonderful venue, minimal decorations needed and the staff were great to work with. We were able to have additional time to set up and clean up. It was super affordable. The guests loved it.

We recently had a shower there on a Sunday afternoon. They set up exactly as we had requested. The room was beautiful. They accommodated all of our needs and we’re wonderful to work with especially Chelsea. Thank you so much.

A diamond in the rough! This was The North Woods Supper Club when I was at NMU 30+ years ago. It was the place. The outside looks a little ragged, it's still really nice on the inside. Great beer, they focus on farmhouse ales and sours... but there was a lager here today. Service is Outstanding!! Love it.

I stopped by Barrel and Beam to meet with Alex from Northwoods Test Kitchen for some photos I was taking for a farm to school story. Although I didn't eat here, I spent an afternoon with Alex and her team and loved their passion for their craft and locally sourced ingredients. Next time I am up North I will stop in again! ;-)

Got both of the Ban Mi’s for lunch today! They were so tasty, but on the smaller side of the Ban Mi’s I’ve had. The stew was to die for, 10/10. Love their beers as well. Sat in the sun on the patio, it was lovely!

I love Barrel + Beam! They have some of the best ciders, meads, and beers I've ever had! The variety and quality of their beverages are the best in the city. They also do fantastic food! My daughter and I are obsessed with their ramen night! All food is locally, and sustainably sourced. The team they have assembled focuses on prioritizing local and implementing sustainable practices. That is something that is so important to me and my family. I also love their events! I've attended swing dancing, maker's markets, and so much more! The space is big and comfortable. They have games for kiddos and it is a great space for families to come. They have done so much to build this wonderful space and I can't wait to see how else they expand and improve things there. Excited to go again with my family <3

Awesome farmhouse brewery in Marquette! Housed in a former supper club, the indoor space is super cozy and love the outdoor Biergarten in the warmer months. Good place for groups that might have non beer drinkers too - there's a great selection of wine, cider, and Non alcoholic bevs available. Laid-back and Family-friendly atmosphere plus the Northwoods Kitchen has an excellent food menu with farm to table dishes and snacks.

Amazing space run by amazing, hardworking people! Have celebrated many special occasions here and will celebrate many more.

Her knowledge and passion for their craft reminded me of the early craft beer experiences I had in Colorado. When I approached the bar, Hillary greeted me warmly, and shared insights about the brewery's offerings. Her adept understanding of beer styles and brewing techniques was evident as she guided me through the tap list. Each recommendation was thoughtfully tailored to my taste preferences, showcasing a deep understanding of flavor profiles and brewing nuances. Moreover, Hillarys ability to engage customers in meaningful discussions about their uncompromising brewing processes enhanced the overall experience. In addition to her expertise, her enthusiasm was infectious, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged exploration and appreciation. We had a graduation party at barrel & beam and everything was great. It was so easy to work with Chelsea and Alex. They were very responsive and paid attention to details. I will definitely recommend barrel & beam for events.

First visit here and had a fantastic time. The space was lovely; log cabin feel to it with plenty of practical and cozy places to hunker down and enjoy a beer. The gal tending the bar was super friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable about the beers and helpful to navigate us through the menu and the different offerings. Got a tap pour and a bottle pour and really enjoyed bother beers. I don't understand the tap pour sizes. I get not all places do flights and that's each business decision to make for themselves. But the pour sizes here were 13oz or 16oz; that's essentially the same size beer. If you don't want to do 5oz taster pours then it'd be nice to see the smaller pour be 8oz or 10oz. Would not hesitate to go back and will definitely stop in again when my travels bring me in that direction.

One of the best breweries in Marquette if not the state. They specialize in farm house styles, sours, and mead. Everything I've had there has been excellent. The eats from the kitchen are also quite good. Cool atmosphere in an old log school supper club and event venue.

Barrel and Beam is incredible. The day to day offerings between B&B and Northwoods Test Kitchen are top tier. Beyond that I also had a chance to hold my wedding’s rehearsal dinner with them and it was one of the highlights of our weekend. Would recommend for a nice day out or holding a special event here!

I was very disappointed how 1 of the bartenders treated my group at the Easter event today! Definitely would never go there again! We definitely did not felt welcomed and uncomfortable at this event!

Top notch beers, awesome location, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Barrel Beam is a must stop if you are in the area! I am seeing their beer in more and more stores too! Do yourself a favor and grab some if you see it.

Barrel +Beam is my favorite UP Brewery. I make sure to stop whenever I am in town. I had their Joyeaux last time I was there and it was top notch as always.

Whether I am attending an event in the barrel room or sipping a beer in one of the many trendy spots in the taproom with friends, Barrel + Beam is definitely one of my favorite places to visit.

The space is gorgeous and rustic. Staff is amazing and attentive. The Northwoods Test Kitchen is a hidden gem in the Marquette food community.

Board behind the bar lacked descriptions of what everything was. The first two sours we asked for were all out, but nothing indicated that until we tried ordering. The farmhouse ale was good, but the sour was way too strong. We were in town on vacation, but given the opportunity I wouldn't go back. Many other good spots downtown.

We love B+B for the gorgeous space and welcoming staff! Bonus points for kid and adult friendly snacks at the Canteen AND for a selection of cider and wine in addition to beer.

Great place to stop for a couple brews. The bartender is really friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Just a nice, laid-back place to go. They don't only serve sours, so anyone can find a beer that suits them.

Every beer is sour; even the IPAs. It's a nice place to sit out with the dogs for a beer.

Fantastic selection of drinks (beer, mead, wine, cider, etc). Very relaxing atmosphere (low noise, reminded us of a coffee house but with beer). Cute outdoor seating and 3 levels of seating indoors. Great place to grab a drink and play some board games or just relax. We look forward to coming back. Update: we made it back to Barrel & Beam after moving to the area. It was such a warm and beautiful atmosphere. I'm so glad we have a place like this so close to us now.

We had a special biking event here and the space was absolutely perfect for it! Space to mingle and a beautiful backdrop for pictures etc! The staff were super kind, helpful, and accommodating and all ages of partygoers were happy with wonderful beverages from tasty beers and ciders to Lacroix and juice!

The food an the beer are great, but my experiences have been....mixed. I came twice and both experiences there was no seating and the staff were over their heads in both serving and accomodations to prepared events. This was the second time here and this was the "Pop Up Ramen" hosting. We got there early and was told the ramen orders will be in 5 more minutes because there were too many orders placed. This was only 7-9 minutes after 5pm when the event started. I grabbed a drink and decided to find a place to sit while I waited to place an order. The bar was filled with children and families. I understand it's a bar/restaurant, but there is only 2 actual tables in the common area and children were snatching up stools and seats when available. I am not exaggerating when I say it was an actual war to find a seat. This is an all ages bar, and people were bringing 3-4 kids each. One family had taken up the entire second floor and all seating to be around the one table upstairs. My time comes after 5 minutes of waiting to get in a line wrapped out the door and they tell me I'll need to wait an additional 15 minutes because the ramen orders are on hold again. I was clearly frustrated because I was already told it'd be 5 and after explaining they should have a list of patrons waiting already they decided to push my order through anyways. I don't mean to be rude, but the bartender took it quite offensively when I explained why I would be frustrated. I really do know this restaurant can do amazing. I just hope things adjust to larger crowds.

Having visited Barrel and Beam many times, I always recommend it to anyone in the Marquette area. It is such a warm and welcoming space. Whether you stop in for one drink or want to spend the entire day, it's perfect. We love this place so much that my wife and I recently held our wedding reception here, which was a small gathering of a few of our closest friends. The entire Barrel and Beam crew was exceptional to work with; the ambiance was amazing, the drinks were fantastic, and head chef Alex curated a delicious menu that suited us perfectly. Absolutely make sure that you check it out!

Good cider and mead, and pretty good food with gluten free options. Fenced in outdoor area filled with tiny rocks and toy trucks made this an enjoyable visit for our 18mo old as well

The space and outdoor area is very amazing. There is a fenced in area for families with small children with trucks and little picnic tables (very cool). The beer garden allows dogs. Beer, Rose wine, and blueberry mead were good. My only complaint was the pizza. When we came it was frozen pizza heated up (presented very well though) and it was $14. The white fish dip was good, but it was packaged from a store. If I had a suggestion it would be to designate what is made in the test kitchen and what is prepackaged/ frozen. As I walked through the restaurant, it looked like the vegetarian options were made there and looked good even though I'm not a vegetarian. I'm guessing this is a vegetarian based kitchen. Would go back for the drinks and atmosphere.

Excellent beer and very friendly staff. Plus they don’t make fun of you when you can’t pronounce the French beer names! Lots of cool and comfy seating too.

Beer was tasty. A number of different types. Amazing space which has struck an interesting balance of history and modern. Very nice bartender who took time to explain the history of the building and the beer choices. Had sone decent snacks as well.

Stopped in and saw MEAD on the menu!! The cranberry mead has a very soft, light bouquet but virtually no taste. So sad. Other reviews really like the cider…should’ve tried that. Really great bar tenders, cool interior, unique food offerings.

Delicious and delightful seasonally focused menu, which was very vegetarian and vegan friendly. Ciders were AMAZING. I only wish we lived closer to frequent B+B on the regular. We'll be back as soon as we can.

Nick and Marina are long time friends of mine that run an amazing brewery and event space. Highly recommend you visit if you're in the Marquette area!

The building is absolutely beautiful. Their drinks are good. Very different from most of the other breweries in the UP. The staff is fantastic.

We went here because it looks so pretty online & has nice advertising on instagram. we wanted light dinner & to try some drinks. when we walked in we were greeted by no one & the bartender was the only person working & didn't acknowledge us. it felt very off putting & we didn't exactly know how the place worked. it would have been fine if someone was at the door to tell us to seat ourselves & how to order food. we ended up leaving right after sitting down & getting a menu because there was no one there except a few people at the bar & it felt unwelcoming.

I've wanted to try this brewery the last few times I've been to Marquette and finally had the chance. I can't wait to go back! I really enjoyed their beers I tried. The bartender was helpful about flavor profiles of draft brews. Lots of comfy character in the decor too.

I've been here a number of times. Once for a food event that showcased the talents of local restaurant chefs. The event was fantastic. Their beer offering is mostly ciders and sours. It's worth talking to the bartenders if you have never sampled this type of beer. They offer frozen smelted pizzas and heard recently they opened and kitchen and look forward to trying. Don't expect a run of the mill brewery, they are definitely introducing your palette to many different flavors at barrel and beam, definitely recommend trying.

Barrel & Beam has some of the best ciders and wines I have ever had. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff is so nice. We hosted our wedding in the event space in September of 2022, and we could not recommend it more. Alex, the coordinator, was so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. The event space looked amazing, the day went so smoothly, and we had the best time. I cannot think of a better place in the MQT area to celebrate and relax with the people you love. Whether you are hosting an event or stopping in for a drink, Barrel & Beam is the place to be.
