Dinner was delicious! Great atmosphere and service.

Staff are family and very attentive, friendly, helpful. It's like dinner with family. Food was excellent and more than enough. Have dinner for another night in the fridge. The delmonico was cooked perfectly only thing they need are bigger plates LOL. If you go hungry here it's your own fault. Thank you we will be back.

One of the best meals I have ever had.

We go here about 2x per year with a large group and have never been disappointed. The boys have carried on a great tradition. I love they have pictures of mom and dad behind the bar. Food was awesome. A lot of leftovers for next day and service was excellent. Not cheap but worth every penny.

We were there to celebrate a 45th Wedding Anniversary. The appetizers, soup, and entree were incredible. The special occasion homemade lemon mousse cake, homemade cheesecake with caramel, coconut cream pie and chocolate cake were other worldly. John, our Server, (Owner) was amazing, attentive, fun and couldn’t have done more to ensure a delightful and memorable dining experience. The staff were all great, too. We took food and deserts home. There were seven of us! Why have we not been here before???!!!

The Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked. You get a lot of beef. Between my wife and mom we ate about 6-7 slices (me eating the most). I weighed our beef leftovers when I got home and it was over 2 pounds 😂. It was perfect for leftovers the next day with home-made rice and shrimp scampi. On a side note my wife has hosted an event here for 30 people and the guests loved it. Kudos to this family for such an amazing restaurant for multiple generations.

Bear Steakhouse came across my radar when I was searching steakhouses located in Upstate New York. The majority of customers/reviewers gave the establishment positive remarks. Being a skeptic, I decided to reserve a table and see what the rave was about. The inside of the restaurant is reasonably smaller compared to other steakhouses that I have been to. However, this is beneficial to the customers, as the staff is able to tend to everyone's needs. Both the waiter and waitress were very familiar with the menu. Being a new guest myself, I welcomed their recommendations. During my time at Bear Steakhouse, I had the Fresh Mozzarella with Roasted Peppers and Tomatoes, the Beef and Vegetable Soup, and the Prime Rib. All three plates were very delicious and they arrived to the table in a spread out time. This was good as it allowed the time to enjoy and digest every dish. Although I didn't have enough room for dessert, I did order the Tiramisu to go. This also did not disappoint. In the end, I'll admit that the reviewers were not exaggerating when they posted their stories about Bear Steakhouse. I look forward to my next meal here.

OMG Our group 9 people went for the first time ever. Everything was amazing. We laughed and were loud and had a great time. Unbelievable amount of food and great soup ,desserts. We also occupied the table for over 2 hours,not rushed out the door like chain restaurants. Highly reccomend.

Chateaubriand was spectacular as was everything else we ordered. Awesome staff with a great sense of humor. We dine at the Bears several times a year, and it's always perfection.

Small and personable eatery, food was phenomenal and did not disappoint in any aspect whatsoever.....not sure what Michelin star service is like, but our waiter was delightful and helped make the experience first class......We will definitely be back

Absolutely amazing! We don't eat steak out normally this place changed that! It's 2.5 hours away from us we met friends for dinner and it was the best meal, atmosphere and service we've ever experienced! We can't wait to come back. Every piece of food from the bread to dessert was absolutely amazing.

Not worth the trip or price. They dump baby carrots in a pot and on a plate with roasted potatoes and some really great meat. Sadly, all the meat for our party of 12 was med rare. I like my meat at least med and prefer med +, 165 degrees. Service was POOR. Gratuity of 20% of all food and beverage was added to bill.

Best dinner I have had in quite a while. Took my mother in law for her 90th birthday with our family. Great service, wonderful food and the best desserts we have had in a long time. German chocolate cake was not too sweet very flavorful! Chateaubrand was melt in your mouth.

Ok, get the chateaubriand... It's probably the best I have ever had. People literally come from all over to get it here, and let me tell you, it is totally worth it. You get a baked potato and some butter and other stuff... But that meat... That's the money right there. So don't worry about sides, or how it feels like you are sitting in someone's living room, or anything else. Go for the amazing meat, enjoy the meat, get in touch with your inner Ron Swanson, and just love it

Awesome food. Awesome service. Awesome atmosphere. Recommended to anyone who enjoys steak. We had the chateaubriand, and it was perfect. The vegetables were excellent as well. I had the beef vegetable soup and it was great. Even had dessert (black forest cake) was awesome. Can't wait to go again.

We had their flagship meal, Chateaubriand, which was excellent. Then again, for the price, it should be. Dinner, drinks, desserts, and tax (pre tip) averaged $100 per person.

Absolutely an amazing evening with amazing people and amazing food.

After living in Duanesburg for 10 years and having no less than two dozen people tell us we had to try the Bears we finally made a reservation and paid our neighbors a visit. Quality, simple ingredients prepared in homage to the french aristocrats of the nineteenth century in an ironically humble venue. Perhaps the most tender steak I've ever had, but at this price point I'm missing flavor and fine touches.

I wanted to surprise my wife with a trip to The Bears. I made my reservation a month ago knowing how popular they are. It was a 40 minute drive that was rewarded with one of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Both of us decided to order off the menu instead of requesting the chateaubriand that they are noted for. The bread they brought out was warm and enjoyable as we waited for our appetizer, the vegetable beef soup. The soup was amazing. They use some prime cuts of beef in the soup and the broth is to die for. It was so good that I got 2 orders of it to go. Next was the salad. My wife had hers with Blue Cheese, I chose the Parmesan Peppercorn. The dressing tasted great. Next came the main course. Be prepared to arrive hungry because the portions are extremely generous. My wife got the “Mama Bear” size filet mignon and I ordered the Delmonico steak. The sides were roasted red potatoes and glazed baby carrots. Kudos to the chef!!! Everything was cooked to perfection, and the steaks were delicious. As I said, the portions are very generous and both of us brought home some to enjoy tomorrow. My wife is a huge chocolate lover, so I was surprised when she ordered the blueberry/lemon cake. It was so good she said she was glad she ordered it instead of the chocolate cream pie. This is a family run restaurant, and it shows in everything they do. Billy, the son of the owner, was our server and he was another part of what made our visit so memorable. Side note, watching all the orders of chateaubriand come out of the kitchen, we will definitely order it on our next visit.

We have been coming to this place for years now!! It really is a great place to eat if you enjoy family style plating and excellent food!! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and charming. The host John is amazing and really takes pride in his restaurant and your dining experience!! He buys nothing but the best when it comes to meat and produce. The appetizers are amazing!! The jumbo shrimp cocktail, and the marinated herring are 2 of my favorites!! We usually come as a group and order the Chateaubriand…and i get the chicken ( still amazing even though it is a steak house). My wife and everyone else in the party loves the Chateaubriand, and it honestly looks and tastes like something you would get at a 5 star resort to be honest. The service is great, John is a great man and very fun to be around, and the desserts are to die for!! This restaurant is worth the ride wherever you are driving from and you will not be disappointed!! Thank you John for another great dining experience!!

Ahhhh....The Bears Steakhouse...the iconic, the legendary, the essential Capital Region's top notch monument to red meat eating gluttony. I feel like this place isn't all that well known even though it's been around since forever. It's kind of a place where if you know, you know. Years ago they had an unlisted phone number and you had to get it from someone who was a regular there, but it's more open to the public these days. The restaurant itself isn't fancy. It's casual, and it's out of the mainstream local restaurant culture. They focus on one thing really, and do that very well. There's no menu and thus, no prices. Expect a large bill. That being said, what you end up paying for a meal there is expensive, but actually a very good value. There are only 2 appetizers available and a handful of desserts. Other than that, you get a choice: Prime Rib, or their Filet Mignon specialty, and you have to specify which as you make your reservations (a month in advance). And believe me, you can't even imagine it until you experience it for yourself. The quivering rare pile of prime rib steak slabs lands on your table with a thud and is maybe the most impressive restaurant experience you'll ever have. Most important though, they start out with an excellent cut of meat and it's cooked perfectly. There's so much food, you'd have to be that hot dog eating contest guy to be able to finish even a majority of it. It comes with potatoes and carrots mainly for decoration imo lol. The appetizers are great. The shrimp cocktail is perfectly cooked and cooled with very spicy sauce. The roasted red peppers and mozzarella is likewise done well. The 4 of us had 4 different homemade desserts and enjoyed them all. The carrot cake was sweet and dense, with the right amount of frosting. The drinks were decent. They have some reasonable bottles of wine available, a nice thing to see at this price level. Overall, a great experience and an enjoyable evening.

This was our first time going and I'm not sure how to even describe the experience. Everything over amazing is a understatement. We had the chateaubriand dinner for four. Appetizers soup and salad. Had to bring dessert home with big portions of left overs. 5 stars dosent justify the entire experience. We had john for our server and again. 5 stars isn't close. He was fantastic and made the experience that much more fulfilling. Absolutely found our new long-term favorite place for dinner. MAKE RESERVATIONS IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! Bears steakhouse thank you all for a wonderful dinner and time.

Pretty shocked pretty amazed planning my next trip back

Hands down the best prime rib that I have had in 30+ years. All the food was amazing tasting and portions are huge. I would highly recommend eating here, you won't be disappointed.

I am not sure I can even touch how amazing this place is.. So much more than meets the eye. From the moment you enter the door you are treated like royalty and a friend. The owners and staff take service to a new level and its beyond exceptional. My experience was unforgettable, scrumptious, fun and down right FABULOUS. The food is OUTRAGEOUS. The Bears is in my top 5 list of restaurants you MUST eat at. I travel all over and I eat out at least 5 nights a week and will be sure to have this one on a monthly calendar. If you looking for a spectacular restaurant in upstate look no further its worth every penny and then some. Do not miss this.
