We drive out from Rhode island to come to the plant nursery, which we love and have been going to for years, and get good eats at Big Dawggs food truck. Picnic tables with umbrellas, weather permitting and dog friendly. Feel good carnival like food, hot dogs are huge and they don't skimp on the multitude of toppings offered. They even have fried dough. Really good people, too. Love supporting small local family businesses like this.

The family and I stopped here after a trip to Buttonwood. We were looking for a quick bite to eat, and I am so glad we stopped here. I had a couple of chili dogs and the buffalo fries. The buffalo fries held true to what the other reviewers said and were unexpectedly delicious. Their chili dogs; however, are better than Capitol Lunch and Sahadi's, and thats saying a lot. Served on a large, fluffy hot dog bun, topped with tons of chili and cheese (not a fan of onions, so those were omitted). They are incredibly filling, and I savored every bite of them. The staff is very friendly and the prices are fair for the serving. Im not out in that area a lot, but if I am, this will be the spot I go to. Compliments to the owner!

Good quality tasty hot dogs. Family got some of the specialty dogs, buffalo fries and gravy fries. Nice seating area with umbrella picnic tables.

Couldn't wait for them to reopen. Great food , sign of spring when they open.

This is a fun little roadside food truck. You would not expect it to be there, but there it is! They have a huge variety of hotdogs as well as burgers. I personally have only tried the hotdogs and fries and we have never been disappointed. The staff working there are always friendly and move as quickly as they can. The hotdogs and toppings always taste fresh and are delicious. There’s a play area for the children to play in while they wait for their food. Plenty of tables are available and most have an umbrella to block out the hot summer sun. If you’re in the area stop by and give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Please post correct hours for the weekend. Your menu looked so delicious!!! Not from the area, did a search for lunch and you popped up! Looking forward to coming back when correct hours are posted! 🙏🏼🩵

My son lives in griswold so this is where we go to eat.. love there food!! Our fav place to go. If you haven't eaten here you should diffently try.

Ordered 2 junk yard dogs for my parents before I went to work. Come to find out 1 of the hot dogs didn't come with a hot dog.

For starters, we've loved this place in the past. We always wait a couple of weeks for them to open each season just so they have time to sort things out. Tonight they gave me a huge attitude, then when I gave the guy a 5.00 tip I said "are we all set" and he replied "yup" with an attitude. We received our order, came home, and the the food wasn't even edible. It was a sloppy soggy mess. Plus we paid extra for bacon and there was no bacon. I would have given this place 5 stars in the past but definitely not this time until they get new help.

Stopped in for quick bite on May 27th, I waited 20 minutes to get my food before asking for my money back, it looked liked I had about another 20 minutes to go. It looked like the were cooking one hot dog at a time!

It was the best hotdog I've ever had. The German Dawgg was in a soft toasted bun loaded with kraut, a great German mustard, !bacon! and a 1/4lb dog. Sadly we were their last customers of the 2022 season. Look for them next year!

Food was super good and made to order. Had a burger with lettuce, tomato, bacon bits, mayo and BBQ sauce with French fries and a Diet Coke. People were very friendly too.

The hot dog was very good and there were many varieties of dogs to choose from. One dog and fries will fill you up, definitely a big dog but I miss the snap of the natural casing.

I just have to give you 5 stars because there are not 10. Outstanding Service, Great location, Great food choices, Family friendly, Great hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, seafood!

They are around corner from my job. I stopped and had the bbq hot dog. Amazing 🤩 everything is amazing there especially these buffalo fries. Next time i will have to get chicken and of it in. The BLT, sweet potato fries, and reg fries are outstanding also.

The staff was super nice. The food came out quick and hot. The menu has a lot of amazing combinations. I chose a Mac the Ripper dawg and it was absolutely delicious! 🤩🤤

Simple, cheap, and filling local food

Was a nice spot to stop and eat. Had a pretty large menu with lots of delicious and creative ways to have your dawg. The portions are big so bring an appetite. I can't wait to try one of the other Dawgs I had a hard time choosing between. Also there is ice cream and shakes!

Went there on internet suggestion. It's about 3 miles from exit 22 off of I-395. We arrived a bit before closing time on a Saturday - bad idea; they were out of a lot of food items. Many outdoors tables are nearby, customers likely enjoyed the nursery atmosphere while waiting (about 15 minutes) for their food. Both my wife and I had hot dogs. The meat is substantial, to me, it looks like a quarter-pound dog. It comes in a very sizable bun/roll. The business offers a very large choice of toppings - most at substantial extra cost. My two dogs cost well over $6/ea. Taste test: while the hot dogs were large, the taste was lacking. The dogs were served slightly warm and whatever taste they had was largely overpowered by the large bun/roll. The real taste came from the toppings. I note that the stand also serves a fried hot dog. This may improve taste and I'll try this before I write this stand off my list.

This is a covid 19 takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the truck. I spotted this food truck on the side of the road and pulled in to check it out. I got chili and hand cut fries. The chili was very good. No beans, lots of meat, and with added onions good flavor. The fries were also very good. Reminded me of the type you get at fairs. The two young ladies working were very pleasant.

Definitely exceeded my expectations for a "roadside food truck" looking forward to trying more menu items in the near future! Two thumbs way up!!

Great place for a great hot dog. And ice cream. Servers are awesome. Will go out of their way to make you happy. I suggest you should go and try them out and see for yourself. Will definitely go back again

An amazing place, many choices to satisfy any desire from the Jalapeno Popper Dawg t0 the Chicaga dawg, a traditional version. Also offer burgers and fries and chips and canned soda. Definitely worth the stop.

Amazing hot dogs. I got the German dog and my girl got the jalapeño dog. They were the best hot dogs I’ve had and we’ve been to numerous places like Kamp Dog and the shop in Old Saybrook. This beats those places by far. They even gave us a free hot dog for our puppy!! We will definitely be going back to try other “dawgs.” Maybe even tomorrow!

Drove by this at least a hundred times in our rig. Finally decided to stop. I was honestly thinking ok this is gonna be alright. Probably a what I call a dirty water dog. Boy was I wrong. I got just a dog with sour kraut on it, a large fry, and babe got the double dog dare. BEST DOGS AND FRIES HANDS DOWN! The dogs were very big, fries cooked to perfection, and everything was amazing. Prices are great! Definitely happy that we stopped today.

Rick and co. are the best. Hotdogs are delicious. My husband and I favor the Junkyard and Taco dogs but every one we've tried is awesome!

I must have driven past this unassuming little hot dog stand about 20 times before I finally decided to stop in and give them a try. I can say without hesitation that I regret not eating at Big Dawggs earlier! The German Dawgg is a particular favorite of mine, LOADED with sauerkraut, spicy mustard and...BACON! If you're ever feeling tired of giving your hard earned money to big fast food chains, these guys DEFINITELY deserve your attention. Four stars!
