I love everything about this place. My family has a partial ownership of a cabin and I've been going at least a few times a year since the mid-80s. I know Sunriver has more things to do like a movie theatre, water park, etc. But Black Butte is laid back, and if you're bored, it's your own fault.

I cannot say enough about this venue and their amazing team. I was looking for somewhere with a water feature (lake/ocean) and I wanted to be surrounded by nature while still maintaining a modern feel. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find that combination until I ended up on a country-wide venue search, which ultimately led me to Oregon and Black Butte Ranch. I had never been to Oregon before but WOW. I was absolutely blown away when I first drove onto the ranch. This venue has it all: stunning fields, beautiful lakes, gorgeous snow-topped mountains, and a million activities for your guests to do. We planned a golf tournament, private mini golf session, pool party, welcome party and ,of course, our wedding all within a weekend. My guests could not stop talking about how beautiful everything was and how much fun they were having. Shaina was amazing during the initial venue search then I transitioned to Kendra once we booked it. Kendra was responsive to all of my emails and hopped on multiple phone calls with me to answer any long-winded questions I had. BBR also did my wedding cake, which came out exactly how I envisioned it. I met with the chef during our tasting and we came up with a customized buffet menu. They made it so easy, and also accommodated our vegan guests by providing personal meals delivered straight to their seat. Our bartenders were wonderful and the staff were all so sweet throughout our entire weekend there. I really cannot recommend this venue and their team enough. A+++, 10/10, 5 stars...the works!

the entire property is amazing with a great golf and a breakfast spot at the north end just outside the gates. id also like to apologize to any residents or visitors who were within a thousand feet of our cabin for the 72 hours we were there without ever going to sleep

I've been blessed to be able to come here twice. It's an amazing scenic resort. Lots of great sights to see and pictures to take. They have multiple swimming pools, restaurants, and a golf course. There's horseback riding and lots of outdoors activities. If you have the means to afford a trip here, it is well worth it!

3 night minimum with overpriced condos that are not updated. Whats the deal? Get with the times and allow more flexibility. Location is good though.

We just spent Christmas weekend here with my family. I would highly recommend. Area felt safe and an amazing scenery. The amenities were a plus. Hot tub and gym were very nice and clean. Definitely excited to visit again.

I would highly recommend this resort for a holiday or family reunion. All the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The amenities were stellar. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Amazing scenery on the way here from PDX🥳🥳 What a gorgeous venue for a wedding, a honeymoon, a snuggly getaway or a big family reunion. The grounds and welcome center were perfectly coiffed. The horses all saddled up and ready to ride🤠🤠 What's not to love about 1,800 impeccably kept acres just waiting for you to show-up and do nothing more than whatever it is that makes you happy!! You can't possibly go wrong!!

Have been going up to Black Butte for 38 years and always have a blast.

I can understand why families and multi generational families love this place. The location is great, it's close to Sisters, and the scenery is pretty. We ate in the Lodge one morning and the breakfast was great, although the hostess was clueless and had limited English. The cabin we rented was awful. It was dirty. Screens were missing and/or torn. The AC was broken. The toilet leaked. It slept 7 and sat 3. There was no place to eat inside. Trash was supposed to be dropped off at some place east of Boston.

Fantastic resort for family fun, biking to the pool, playing pickleball and tennis. Golf and hikes. Lots of food and drink options.

Not a resort hotel. Homes and condos for rent. Be careful, some homes are great, some awful. BBR rentals vs VBRO is confusing. Hidden fees on VBRO. Staff is new, nice but sometimes clueless. Lodge is new and nice. Good place for kids.

I had a wonderful time at Black Butte Ranch. I had an event at hoodoo and rented a house for my family. The view was over the top more than I expected. The community is nice and spread out and feels quaint.

Always a wonderful time and great management, it shows in the courtesy and friendlyness of the staff.

My friends and I had an opportunity to play Glaze Meadow golf course and It was spectacular. I highly recommend going and playing here. The shop pro Dan was a great help and made us feel like we had been life long friends. Take the time to stay and play at Black Butte. Also, google maps will try to take you down fire roads so be careful when using maps. Cheers!

This review is specifically for the Black Butte Lodge aka condominiums. I've stayed at many privately owned homes in Black Butte over the years and had a great experience but from those experiences I wasn't prepared for this unit. (1) there is no table in the unit so don't expect to play a game, work, or eat with your partner except in bed. (2) don't try to sleep in because you don't have blackout curtains, instead you have semi-sheer white ones that light up the room at the first sign of light (3) one of the side tables by the bed is moved away from the bed and just had a microwave on it so don't expect to charge your phone or whatever there (4) you have a lovely deck but share it with the unit next to you and they got the big outdoor table right in front of their window, we only have two chairs and a table the size of for a notepad. (5) I wouldn't have used it but the TV is tiny and in a cabinet that does not face the bed or any seating... Unless you sit in the fireplace but hey, a fireplace! (6) if you are used to the other houses here don't expect anything in the way of cups, cutlery, whatever else. We brought leftovers home from the restaurant (that has a last seating at 7:45) and there were not even plastic forks. (7) the heating elements are all from the 80s and after 3 hours still didn't move from 60 (where it was set during move-in while there was snow on the ground outside and a winter storm warning) to 70. Not to mention they rattle constantly while running. (8) finally the previous occupant's chew was still in the side table...Just stay in a privately owned home not the condos..

What a greplace to sled, sit by the fire, and enjoy the snow! Small store has a ton! Great lunch spot with an amazing view. Highly recommend👍

A great, private community located near Sisters, Oregon

Black Butte ranch is a big resort located in between Sisters,, Oregon and the Santaim pass. Many things to do there minutes away from the mountain to ski or snowboard, miles of biking and walking trails. Huge golf course's. You can rent a home or just stay in a small condo. Gorgeous views of the mountains and forest.

Absolutely love this place. Have been going with my wife's family for 9 years now. Awesome place. Many house's to rent. Be aware there is a " resort fee" for each person/ day ....... Really nice property. Tons of bike paths/ running trails Few big pools. Definitely a place to make many family memories

Great, big houses for families of near any size. Several different pools of varying sizes depending on group size. Many walking/biking paths, group activities, sports & rec available for all ages. Community buildings are always being updated and modernized. Gorgeous views everywhere you look. Head in to Sisters Coffee in town for Starbucks quality coffee and food with small town/country atmosphere.

A nice place to escape and relax with great views of the Cascade Mountains in a resort setting. I reserved a small Lodge Condo overlooking the East Meadow with a King Bed, a microwave and a small refrigerator. The room did not have an overhead light which made the room a little dark. A few lamps, and a light on the side wall by the bed were the sources of light. The bathroom did not drain as I was taking my shower. The Lodge Restaurant was closed due to construction and Robert's Pub was the option for dinner. You will find swimming pools, a golf course, horse stables, hiking trails, activity centers, a general store, an equipment rental center, and much more to do at the Ranch. A good location to explore Central Oregon with Redmond, Bend, Sisters and a number of great hiking areas within driving distance of the Ranch. Located about seven miles from Sisters on Highway 20. A great place to stay with a number of lodging options, plenty of activities to keep you busy and within driving distance to most places in Central Oregon.

My wife and I stayed here for a little bit of a central Oregon staycation. It was an amazing little getaway for us. Hospitality was spot on an amenities were exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to get away for a weekend.

Loved it. Had a great time. The place is nicely laid out. Easy to get around. Glad they had a pool and so many hiking and bike paths etc. Also super easy access to Hoodoo for skiing or hiking and the mountain views were awesome. Sunsets and nice mtn peaks. It was a fun place to relax.

Nicely laid out facility. Houses are well-spaced and vary in architectural detail. Lots of trees surrounding houses. Roads are windy and unobtrusive. Overall, nice esthetics.

It was a CRAZY night at the welcome center. But DEAN was awesome !! Never got flustered!! And kept a smile on his face!! Nice work Dean!DEAN!! They don't make them like YOU anymore 🥰🥰

We definitely enjoyed Black Butte and we'll be coming back again. We did get lucky to have a little bit of snow fall while we were there. There's a lots of activities to do like hiking, biking, swimming and more.

Great place, but It is apparent that they are suffering staffing issues like everyone else. It was really hard to get anyone on the phone. I called the stable to try to book a horse back ride and left a message, I never received a call back.

At reservation time, there weren't so many covid restrictions. We planned a romantic weekend with dining (we weren't ready for take out 32.00 dollar dinners served in a cardboard box) everyone but everyone did their best under current circumstances and delivered best customer service )and beautiful atmosphere. Our room was small good for two. , was not set up for take out dinner but housekeeping helped us out with a 2nd chair. We made the best of it and had a fantastic weekend. The stable staff was awesome. Life hands you lemons you make the sweetest lemonade.

Stayed here with two friends in October 2020. I rented a condo for a few nights and we played both courses. Awesome trip, perfect time to visit the ranch. Courses were impeccably maintained with great views; bunkers abound; fast greens with challenging pin placements. Nice course.

Beautiful venue. We attended for a wedding which was stunning, simple and perfectly carried out and attended by staff.

I am not sure there is a place more beautiful. This resort has everything you can ask for in Central Oregon. Views, activities, space, and more. Each house brings its own personality. Endless bike paths and walk ways. 5 pools with different vibes. If you’re looking for a magical place to make family memories THIS is it.

Black Butte Ranch is the BEST vacation destination in Cental Oregon! It has all the amenities of first class resort. If you want to relax and have fun at the same time, there is a place.

We spent a long weekend at Black Butte Resort with out-of-town family. It’s a fantastic top of the line resort with a multitude of both indoor and outdoor activities to do. Straight forward easy drive from our home in Tigard, OR: I-5 South to 22 East. Once you’re in the mountains it’s a very scenic drive, especially traveling through the Detroit Lake area. BBR is basically a self-contained community that offers all of the amenities that you wouldn’t need to leave for anything. We booked our trip through VRBO but any any vacation site will work like Airbnb, etc. There are two fitness centers, five pools, a golf course, eighteen miles of paved biking and walking paths....and the list goes on. The company Wheel Fun rents excellent bikes of all types here. This is the same company in Portland. Plus there are plenty of places to get a bite to eat with excellent choices and quality. It’s a pet friendly resort so we took our furry family as well. And if you want to venture it’s a quick drive to the town of Sisters and Bend is reasonable too. Bend has the amazing Pine Nursery Dog Park. Everyone who works here is truly genuinely friendly, helpful, and warm.

Wonderful beautiful place for a family reunion or family vacation. Very quite pools are never busy. There is a lot to do out doors. We loved our stay with our family.

Incredible housing and accommodations!!

I have visited the ranch for one week every summer since about 2012. If you like to bike and swim at pools and live among trees it feels like a fun "family camp" experience. We hardly ever drove our car, since we biked everywhere, to and from other houses where other family members were staying, even biking after dark. This is a true vacation destination - relaxing, unhurried, and the ranch and all the recreation amenities provide meaningful, interactive fun for family members of all ages.

Great place. Activity center, pool, spa, mountains, big sky. Perfect.

Less crowded than Sunriver, smaller than Sunriver and the homes are more widely distributed. Nice Golf course, decent bike paths, wonderful views and more chill attitude.

Oh my...BBR!!! This place is awesome. Family friendly. Relax by one of the many pools, ride the pristinely kept bike paths, take in the natural beauty, or play some golf or pickleball! There IS a place and BBR is it!!!

Its wonderful to see that Black Butte has spent time and money updating places and activites/events. So beautiful and family oriented. What I didn't appreciate is that I went to Glaze Meadow pool this morning as soon as they opened at 7 am for a quiet and peaceful lap swim and hot tub soak. Instead I got the maintenance crew running a blower all around me and the pool a half hour after they opened. Loud and didnt get the peace I was hoping for...

Great family get away. Highly recommended, getting a bit pricey.

The ranch itself is in such a beautiful area. There are so many activities that you can do. I have deducted one star because the roads are very difficult to navigate. The signage for some of the roads are poor, especially at night. Overall, a great place to stay for a weekend. Do note that reservations are tight, so you will have to plan at least a year in advance.

Love renting a house and playing tennis, riding bikes and golfing

Grew up coming here every summer and Christmas. Perfect view of ALL of Dechutes county mountains. Great for weddings, photography, and family vacations. Tons of activities to do including horseback riding and multiple indoor/outdoor pools. Bistro, store and Lodge for food. Fantastic start of a family tradition.

I'm a wedding and couples photographer, and got a chance to capture some bridals out at the Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, Oregon and was blown away by the view of Sisters, 3-finger Jack and Mt. Bachelor form the resort. It was such a stunning backdrop for these bridal photos and would highly recommend it to couples looking to get married with an epic backdrop.

Beautiful scenery! Good bike/walk paths. The food at the bistro was very good. Was pleasantly surprised with the fitness room. Our Homestead condo had good beds and view through the enormous windows, but the kitchen range was outdated and dirty, along with the floor. Cobwebs around also. The deck was good but needed refinishing. Overall, the ameneties were a little disappointing for the money.

We rented one of the properties inside the ranch that backed up to the forest. Serene and tranquil atmosphere. The main resort area has a great pool and fantastic mountain views.

Love Black Butte, the quiet, the beauty and spending time with our family always makes our stay worth the trip to central Oregon.

The pasture with the horses are BEAUTIFUL. Other than that everything dead no greenery Stayed at one of the main house (Big Beautiful Cabins with green grass in the yards.)Problems with Tv's , STEREO, and Master bath out of service. Everything $$. Its quite, great to ride a bike or walk.Nice pool great staff. Me personally I rather rent a place in town. Not impressed for the amount of money it cost.

Absolutely beautiful place to be a little expensive but worth the price

My family has been coming here for 30+ years and we absolutely love it. Best memories have been shared and many more to come. Perfect late summer destination. Must bring a bike though unless you prefer walking. Tons of biking trails to explore and it's easy to get around.

We (group of four) stayed for two nights in one of the condos near the main Lodge. We like Black Butte Ranch for its proximity to Sisters and Bend, and for the amenities the ranch offers. The views at the lodge were great, as were the restaurants. We'd recommend it. The one amenity I wish BBR would improve on is the disc golf course. The current course has a few interesting holes, but generally the course seems to be an after thought. A few holes play over paths and sports fields, which is less than ideal, and only a few holes take advantage of the nearby woods. I'd visit more often if the course were improved.

Everyone could want for an active vacation in the eastern Cascades of Oregon. Miles of paved trails within the ranch for walking or biking. Golf, pools, tennis and many other things to do.

Seems cool but crowded and a strangely large amount of law enforcement presence for the setting and type of higher class scene.
