This is one of my favourite restaurants ever. I’m pretty selective with what I like. But I’ve been here a few times. And every single time it’s incredible. I live in Canada, but when I visit friends in Bozeman, I always request this as a restaurant choice. The service is super friendly, the food is incredible. It’s fairly priced. I’ve had the risotto a few times, it’s my favourite. They cook tenderloin perfectly. And the desserts are fantastic. Thank you for always being consistently amazing.

Wasn't impressed not good Italian food

A really tremendous, off the main drag, place to have a meal. We stopped in for dinner — which was great! The food was excellent! Very fresh and well prepared. Everything dish was excellently prepared and presented. The Chicken Marsala was the star of our table. Wow! It was so tender and moist, with a very light breading and delicious Marsala sauce. The primavera ravioli also was very good — recommended by our server. It was very good. Very vegetal and herbaceous. The meat and cheese tray was tasty. The bread — could have made a meal on bread! The server was very knowledgeable and professional. The host (Jacob) was gracious and kind — we called ahead and made a reservation and he was quite friendly about it! Overall, a really worthwhile place to visit!

Bad service, waitress was pushy and rushing us, 630 on a Friday and the place wasn't even half full .. food was OK at best, not worth the price point

The warm greeting we got when we arrived at the door set the tone for our entire evening! The crew at Blacksmith was genuinely happy to serve our party even though we arrived early for our reservation (no problem), had an extra guest in our party (happy to accommodate), and did not all arrive at the same time (sat us as we arrived). They made us feel like family and that was important because we were celebrating a birthday. The mushroom bruschetta and meatball apps were a big hit and easy to share. The orricchettie pasta was divine and the chicken marsala was tender and flavorful. The tiramisu is out of this world and everyone had an amazing evening. Every single employee we encountered at Blacksmith was pleasant and happy to help. The food pricing was fair for the top notch quality and the clean and comfy facility. Love this place!!!!

Hidden on the far side of town in a little strip mall is this cute family style Italian restaurant. It reminded me of some of the upscale places I used to eat at on the east coast. The food is good and prepared well with a nice selection of wine to pair with. We enjoyed the homemade bread. The mussels were fresh and cooked just right with a nice grilled foccasia bread and garlicky broth. My wife enjoyed spaghetti with Pesto, which had a nice balance of earthiness and basil...I thought it could have used a touch more salt and lemon to brighten it up. The squid ink tagliatelle with crab and grilled shrimp was cooked just right down to the fresh al dente pasta. I think the micro greens were out of place on this dish. The desserts were delicious, and the homemade cannoli did not disappoint abs the wife loved the chocolate twist on creme brulee. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and a pleasant waitress.

Was... ok. They asked us if we wanted to wait 15 minutes for a table instead of a bar seat, and we agreed. 15 minutes later we were sat at the bar... they lost our order, and if it weren't for a different customer mentioning it to the server that they got their food before us even though they came way later we might have been there all night (we waited over an hour). I had the Carbonara, and it was OK, but definitely not worth writing home about. It seemed their secret ingredient was salt, instead of working harder to balance the flavors of the meal. Maybe wrong day, wrong chef?

Not impressed! I wish I would have mentioned that neither me or my boyfriend enjoyed our dinner but after they forgot the chicken on my pasta dish I forgot to mention it. The service was ok but not great. Won’t be back.

Ordered the chicken Marsala, was expecting a light true Italian meal but it was heavy, greasy and flavorless. I couldn’t finish it. Husband has steak but couldn’t taste the steak because there was so much glaze. $120 meal that we took home cause it was too heavy. Very American, no healthy Italian

While the various versions of rustic steakhouses on Main Street may be the stereotypical image of tourist Bozeman, every once in a while you just need variety - and perhaps a place that is warm, friendly, and comfortable without having to be so "Montana" image-conscious. We found Blacksmith Italian for dinner last night and had a wonderful experience. Our server was very friendly (thanks Justin), and the food was really delicious! I would definitely go again!

We absolutely love it! We have dined here four times over the last few months and every time we have good service and great food. The specials are always tasty. The pasta is fresh and the chicken marsala, as well as the chicken Parmesan have been great every time. The veal marsala and the lasagna special when available are amazing. From start to finish you can’t go wrong. We really enjoy the bacon cheese date appetizer, as well as their Burrata and charcuterie. Good wine and beer list.

One of the best homemade pastas in town.

It was absolutely amazing. The buzz of the whole restaurant was great! We didn't have a reservation, so we sat on the line of the kitchen where it was a bit noisy, but Absolutely amazing to see the kitchen work like they did!

We wanted Italian before a race so we have this place a try. The patio was nice and had heaters. We had reservations and they even had reservations booked at the bar so they should have known how many people to expect. We waited over an hour for our food and everyone around us waited similar times. Two of our party had spaghetti and it was overcooked and nothing special. I had the Orecchiette Rustica which was good. The waiter said sorry for the wait when the food came out but that's it. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something happened but it wasn't a great experience.

Odd experience. Ravioli Bolognese was wonderful and also our Corn Dumpling entree was tasty. Inattentive staff and food could have been warmer if they paid attention instead of chatting one another up… for an expensive tab, would expect a lot more

Disappointing dinner for our 17th wedding anniversary. I ordered the chicken Marsala and my husband ordered the salmon risotto special. When our entrees came out, mine was hot and delicious while my husbands was lukewarm at best. Clearly it had been prepared earlier and they attempted to reheat it. For $40, you don’t expect reheated food. So, I ate my dinner by myself, and my husbands newly reheated dinner was delivered to the table just as I took my last bite. Romantic, right? They offered us a dessert on the house—-but that didn’t make up for the entree disaster. The tiramisu was barely edible anyway. Served in a little rectangular dish, it also had been prepared quite a while before. The whipped cream on top was very heavy,and crusty. We won’t go here again.

Not your typical italian food restaurant. Small and quaint. Very different dishes, truly unique and delicious. They do serve cocktails and wine.

The food is delicious. For appetizer we had the greens goat cheese beet salad which was excellent. Then the sweet corn and mushroom agnolotti and squid ink pasta. Pasta definitely tastes really fresh since they make it in house. The flavors for both were varied and tasty. Recommend reservations as they were booked for Friday so we sat at the bar. That was fine but if you want a table better call ahead.

This is the story. We had 5 in our party. I had the lamb chops they were wonderful. However, my other guests had menu items and our appetizers were OK but not fantastic and very small portions with very high prices. Even high for bozeman prices. The staff was great. I was very happy to tip them well. The building is a bit cramped, and it's difficult to maneuver.

Great food experience and service food is amazing!!!

Blacksmith has always been one of our go to restaurants. Tonight we decided to get their yummy lasagna (only available on Thursdays) but just wanted to order & bring home. Tried to call 5 times, but kept getting the message to leave a message or call back. We did leave a message which didn’t work. Since we live close, we drove over. The gal at the desk said they take the phone off the hook when they’re busy. This was odd because it was 6:15, & they were not busy!! We decided to wait the 10 minutes it took to get our order, but it sure left a bad taste in our mouths.

Have been a regular since they opened, and go to blacksmith for every special occasion. The food is delicious every time , and the service is always great! This place is consistently a 10/10, and that’s hard to find. While yes it can look pricey, you pay for what you get-this is well worth it. Carefully selected ingredients, bombs of flavors, and creative dishes!

Excellent food, great wine options, very attentive service, nice atmosphere but can get loud enough that it's hard to have a conversation. I will do it again for many years. :)

The food was fantastic. The restaurant is very small so a reservation is recommended.

We ate at blacksmith Italian last night. We hadn’t been there in a while. Prices have gone up quite a bit for what you get. The service was excellent the food tasted great. We sat in the room. That was off the main dinning room. it’s a nice looking room but the acoustics are horrible. You could hear everyone’s conversation. It was extremely loud. It could’ve been that everybody in there had about five glasses of wine a piece so the conversation was loud and boisterous. The ceilings are high. There are no acoustic barriers anywhere they could do a lot with that little room in there if they would just lower the ceiling and put some baffles up. It would make the ambience so much better, and I could hear what my husband was saying to me.

Bread was very hard and chewy. The raviolis were very good. The cannolis had way too much nutmeg and made me start to gag.

Came here for the first time ever tonight to have dinner while working in the big sky area for the next few days and this place has to be the best food and service I've had in years! Our server tonight was a younger guy named Ricky who treated us with the best service and food since we have been in Bozeman! The food is authentic, the vibe is so nice as well! We will defitnely be visiting here again very soon! 10/10 highly recommended if you are in the area and looking for somewhere with good service, great food, and very good prices for the amazing food you get then look no further because this is where you need to go!!!!

6/10. Squid ink tagliatelle was fine. I suspect I might just not like seafood pasta in this style? The budino I got was bad though.

Dinner party of 4, my husband & 1 other loves their meals, the other 2 if us, not so much. My sauce was bland, but the chicken and noodles were excellent 👌. I'm torn, 3.5 is what I would give over all. Will try again, hopefully better.

The mussels were amazing and tender. The fleet and lobster risotto (that night's special) was so good. I wasn't a fan of the carbonara but I can't judge a place on one dish. I will definitely be back. The desserts were amazing too!!

Excellent food, attentive service, and an overall great experience for our anniversary dinner. Incredible pasta made in-house, and excellent ingredients, definitely worth a visit as one of Bozeman's hidden Italian gems!

The food at this place is excellent. We have been there several times and still plan on returning in the near future. Have yet to have anything bad. Service was right up there as well. Excellent service. Every time we've eaten there, it's been around the 6:30 PM time frame. Our only complaint is it is EXTREMELY noisy when full. You almost have to shout to hear one another.

We had the best dining experience! The attention to detail was impressive. Food was fantastic and service was on point. We traveled from Helena to eat here and we will most definitely be back. Make sure not to miss out on the bone marrow. Best we have ever had.

Food is very good. Wasn't aware they only serve beer and wine. It didn't bother me but did others in the group.

It was a Saturday night and we didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us at the counter. We split the Cesar, corn and mushroom agnolotti, and the squid ink linguine. Everything was amazing. Service was also impeccable. The only (very minor) critique would be for the butterscotch budino, which didn't seem to have the expected texture. Still, amazing meal and highly recommend checking it out.

The food here really is amazingly fresh and very tasteful. What is not amazing, is the service. We waited an hr and half for two entrees!! Applesbees is half the price and way faster! Will not be coming back here! People for the love of god, save your money.

Outstanding food. The house made pasta is a must, it's delicate with a great mouth feel. Been there twice and have sampled 8 different dishes all if which were quite good.

This place is consistently incredible. Tenderloin is a must, Arancini is bomb, budino is silk magic, that beet salad is. THE. BEST. I'VE. EVER. HAD. But tonight, I tried the octopus - y'know, cause they have more than earned my trust - and it was a game changer! Anyone who can make that tough, rubbery, tentacled being taste like perfection - like compete with the carbonara and risotto kind of perfection - is a spot you should try - and quite honestly -continue to patron. I'm so satisfied right now that I stopped listening to the folks around me to type this real-time. This place is gold.

Bozeman’s best. I’ve tried 5 different dishes and I would happily eat any one of them for the rest of my life. Damn near religious experience with the ravioli bolognese. If you want to experience food as an art form, this is the place. Well worth the prices. If you disagree, it’s probably because your life has been too good and you have no grasp on reality. In all seriousness, I’m no food critic. Just a recent college grad, so if you think you know better, you might. However, this was the best food I’ve ever had. Not just the best Italian food. Please do yourself a favor and give it a try. Truly brings meaning to the phrase “food is life”.

I was disappointed in the service and the food. I really wanted it to be good, so I’ll definitely give it another chance in hopes that I can give it a better review. We started with bread & butter. The bread, to me, tasted tough and stale. One bite was enough. I had hoped to order the bone marrow as an appetizer, but they were unfortunately out of it for our 5:30pm reservation. No problem. More room for pasta, right? I ordered the oriecchete rustica. The sauce was nice & flavorful, but the pasta itself was very thick and tough. This was not the fresh pasta experience I had hoped for. The ravioli bolognese was definitely the best dish at the table. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the ricotta was fresh, and the bolognese was rich in flavor. We also ordered the “ribeye” special, but it wasn’t a ribeye at all. It was a strip. It was flavorful, but not the tender ribeye we thought we were getting. The mushroom risotto that accompanied it, however, was delicious. The most disappointing part for me was the service. Our waitress looked sick, had red, watery eyes, and was coughing continuously as she served us. I truly hope she feels better soon, but I also wished she would have stayed home to heal instead of share the illness with me, my family, and the rest of the restaurant patrons.

This food! Oh I ate so much! This chicken marsala that I took the picture of is divine! Very tasty. We ordered mussels in wine sauce for our appetizer and homemade tiramisu! Everyone better eat here! Excellent service by our waitress Taylor!

Unfortunately my food was very bad. Raviolis seemed previously frozen, we’re very cold and generally undercooked. I sent the plate back after a few bites and was still charged full price. The rest of the food was good, a bit overpriced.

I love this restaurant! The food is always amazing, the specials are so creative, the staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. The owner is sopassionate and you can taste it in the food. Try the butterscotch boudino for dessert! It’s my favorite dessert in town!

Service is always wonderful and love the management and atmosphere. The food has been good in the past but I have made a change to a plant based diet. Wish they offered at least one vegetarian/vegan entree.

If you are looking for some food that will knock your socks off then check out Blacksmith Italian. They lovingly prepare piedmontese beef for some great steaks. I had a 30 day dry aged ribeye that I will be dreaming about for weeks. Possibly months. At least 30 days. 😉 We enjoyed the bone marrow for something unique. Plenty of staff and very helpful.

Great food and good service. However, we went there for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We unfortunately got sat at a large booth on the left side of the restaurant next to large groups and loud parties. When we left, we realized the other side was much more quiet and intimate. If you make a date reservation ask to be seated on the quieter side.

Great food for tired travelers. We hit the museum of the Rockies then walked 5 minutes. Staff excellent and food delicious! Squid ink pasta!

Great experience! Our waiter, Grant, made some great recommendations and was super attentive. The chicken marsala is one of the best menu items I've ever ordered. I highly recommend Blacksmith Italian!

Food was good, atmosphere was more lively than I expected, pricing was to be expected. We spent about $100 on an appetizer, two main courses and two drinks. We had the Octopus Risotto and Wild Boar Gnocchi. Would definitely get the Gnocchi again - it was so good! The octopus was a little salty mixed with the rich risotto and I felt like it needed just a bit more of the grapefruit wedges to compliment the flavors. Both dishes were beautiful!

I was dissipointed.in the lack of Italian air ya know olive oil grated parmasan good bread na I won't sycle back their for a while capish.

My husband’s dinner was delicious, mine was disappointing.

I grew up Italian in New Jersey and I never could have dreamed of a place like this under Big Sky country. This is the only place I would even think of getting Italian from in the future. The calamari was cooked just so when so many cook it too long. The octopus just the same, being such a delicate dish I have not had such amazing octopus since my trip to Italy itself. It melted in your mouth. The risotto was perfect. The desserts were the crowning jewel of the meal. I was blown away and highly recommend this restaurant. I will be returning.

Still dreaming about my meal a week ago!!! We had a large group of 8 for dinner and was beyond impressed. They were busy and the service was still spot on; everyone’s food was drool-worthy; and the environment was cozy and intimate without being crowded. I can’t wait to go back and try even more….next date night!

Wasn't what I was looking for completely. I was really wanting gnocchi, but we found some good alternatives. Appeared to be more of, enjoy a great wine kind of place where the wine is probably better than the food, however we were just looking for good food. Not saying the chef can't cook though because she has mad skills. Owner was very friendly and out going. Menu was just off a bit. I would try agian if the menu was changed.

Very good dinner. Our server was amazing. She was busy but took excellent care of us. The carbonara was excellent. Great wine list. The anchovies and butter was delicious. The dates stuffed with gorgonzola were sublime. Definitely make reservations.

This is a modest sized gem of a place away from the pretentiousness of downtown Bozeman. A wonderful menu offering a variety of italian options. The entrees we had (pesto gnocchi, sausage orriechette) were outstanding. The bread alone is worth going for! Treat yourself to a great meal!

This place is fabulous! I tend to avoid pasta and rice dishes but I still love Blacksmith Italian! There are so many options for someone like me! The service is always excellent and the chef always makes an effort to chat with friends and acquaintances. It's always my first choice when going out to dinner in Bozeman.

Exceptional service and the food was absolutely delicious.

First visit to Blacksmith since inside mask mandate lifted for vaccinated people and IT WAS GREAT! Started with Calamari and moved on to the special, Veal Milanese with an Arugula salad. Caramel and cream and huckleberry and cream desserts. Fun! Delightful servers and staff all around. It’s wonderful to be back to one of my favorite restaurants.

Primavera was delicious. Very helpful and nice staff. The degree of openness to the kitchen can be reassuring that things are being done correctly, but it comes with a lot of noise if you're sitting at a table inside. The outside looked like it would be a good place to eat. And I am not sure that the prices aren't somewhat too high.

We ate here recently. The food was ok, nothing special. The real annoyance that we didn’t realize until the next day was that we were charged $22 for spaghetti with meatballs instead of $15. While we were in the restaurant we noticed that our other plain spaghetti dish was being also charged $22 instead of $12. This fortunately got corrected while we were there. Our poor server was just learning the job. One last thing. We observed the manager going table to table asking the diners how they were enjoying their meal. He skipped our table.

It was a pleasant evening with friends. Definitely plan ahead with reservations. The burrata and brussel sprout appetizers were very good. We hoped to be more impressed with our entrees. For the price it was hard to not expect slightly higher quality. We would go back hoping it was just an off night in the kitchen. The ravioli was the favorite but the veal and the spaghetti carbonara did not earn rave reviews.
