My wife and I had very different opinions of our experience here. She said she thought it was a five-star place but I felt it was three stars. Given the price point, I expected to be wowed but that didn’t happen. In fact, I really could not even find a single entrée that appealed to me. For appetizers, my wife had the ceviche and I agreed that that was quite good. I had octopus over eggplant and it was just OK. Our waitress was very enthusiastic about the duck breast and my wife went for that and seemed to really enjoy it. For lack of anything more appealing than a steak, I ordered the steak. It was fine but given the price I didn’t think it was a whole lot better than something I could’ve made myself at home. The wines by the glass were an average of $20 each at the lower end. The full wine list by the bottle is certainly impressive and you probably will be wild if you want a 1961 bottle of Petrus for more than $5000. I wasn’t really looking for that. I found it somewhat stuffy and pretentious and disappointing. My wife said I was completely off the mark and she thought it was just fine and one of the best restaurants She has dined out. I will add that she ordered a French sour cocktail that did look spectacular. I was impressed when the bartender came out and spritzed her magnificent cocktail with two squirts of Single malt scotch to add some flavor to it. I think that was probably the highlight of the meal, at least for me.

The options for excellent food in the Berkshires are many, but your choices for fine dining are extremely limited. Thank goodness for Cafe Boulud at Blantyre. From the moment you wind your way up the driveway to be greeted by historic Blantyre you are transported to another time. There are few restaurants with a waiting area that you will find difficult to leave. That is until you enter the intimate dining area. My wife and I could not possibly enjoy a more romantic spot to enjoy our anniversary. Every part of our meal was absolutely delicious. The lamb chops might have been the best I had ever tasted. Our server Frank was a delight. I highly recommend Cafe Boulud for that extra special night out.

One of the best meals we've had in a long time. The setting is glorious and comfortable. The service is on a par with the finest restaurants in NY. Kudos in particular to our server, Zhen-Mei and the maitre d' Austin (both from Pittsfield but with style, manners and professionalism that would be at home in the finest restaurants in the world). The food was just what you would expect from a Boulud restaurant. Creative, interesting, exceedingly well prepared and totally delicious. We left very, very happy and look forward to returning often. Bravo!

Fully aware at our good fortune living in the Berkshires. A roof over our heads. Able to eat delicious food. Family safe. Fully aware at those way less fortunate. But today without my sons a sad one. We thought we’d just skip turkey but woke up realizing that was a mistake. I called cafe bouloud and they were kind and told me it was still no prob elem even on thanksgiving morning to order take out. I’m a good cook and this dinner was delicious. Citrusy. Herby. Tender turkey with all the flavorful sides. Our food arrived in a big black box. Every container lovingly marked. So professional. Thank you cafe bouloud. Such an addition to the Berkshires. Well worth the priciness. Thoughtful tantalizing meals. Not cloyingly haughty. Simple (but not that simple) beautifully seasoned food. You guys really made our covid Thanksgiving special.

We were a group of 5, with one of most celebrated chefs in this region and the rest of us are established members of international wine and food organizations. No matter. Any restaurant associated with Daniel has this arrogance. Daniel Boulud trained under a true gentleman, Paul Bocuse had none of this arrogance. But from the front to the waiters, no one at our table was a good as any employee. Just very out of place compared to how the Blantyre was when Ann Brown was the owner. The Blantyre was a welcoming and pleasant establishment then. As you will see from the photos, the food was ordinary, made with no particular care.

The setting is a stunning mansion located in the Berkshire Hills. The service we found impeccable heightened only by magnificent suggestions. Food, yield to the chef's specialties for a heightened experience, particularly for your first visit. My night was capped with one of my favorites of a Poire Eau de Vie served in a chilled snifter. I found the complete experience to be unmatched so far in the Berkshires. Also, while the prices were far from NYC prices, It was worth every penny and so much more.

It's been a decade since we've dined at the Blantyre and almost two since we stayed at the hotel so we were excited to see the beautiful grounds again. Having an opportunity to dine at a Daniel Boulud establishment was the cherry on top. It's sad to note that they have limited seating but we took an early spot and found that they everyone was comfortably seated apart. Service was very pleasant and informative - our server was attentive but not overly intrusive. Cocktails were imaginative and the Senor Singapore is a tasty tequila based Singapore Sling. We were started with an arancini amuse bouche and rolls. The 3 course prix fixe menu had many options. My grilled octopus was spectacularly presented with various morsels of flavor and texture in a mild dressing. We also had a pumpkin soup that was piping hot and tasty. The branzino Cha Ca had many layers of umami and spice atop a bed of vermicelli and wilted spinach - brilliant. My grilled lobster with chopped clams and bacon with a chowder sauce was comforting and decadent. We opted for a Caramel Entremet - very light custard on a crumble base and the Blood Orange Givre is a take on his signature grapefruit givre - sorbet, marmelade and cream served in a frozen, hollowed-out fruit cup. Spectacular. A great evening in a grand setting. We also loved having lunch in the Conservatory - beautiful grounds and refined environs.

Food was good, but shocked at the poor service. Drink order taken so late we had no opportunity to savor before the meal - and we were never asked if we wanted a second drink. Not a single order (for a table of 4) was delivered to the right diner. When one of us asked if she could trade one of the sugar cookies that accompanied her ice cream for a chocolate chip cookie like the one others of us were served she was told there would be a charge! Certainly understand that it couldn’t be traded - but to charge for a tiny cookie on a $58 brunch?!

My wife and I decided to book our first restaurant in 6 months because of the well spaced outside seating. Being older, we absolutely didn't want to risk any inside seating as the CDC says it is significantly more risky than outside seating. We knew that if it rained, we would cancel. We were happy when the weather showed rain in the afternoon but clearing before our reservation. When we arrived, the sun was out, there was no rain in the forecast and it was a beautiful warm September evening. When we started to head outside, we were told they were not sitting outside tonight because it was wet. The only thing that was wet were the table tops that could easily be dried. I said we didn't mind. The hostess and waitress refused to budge. She said there were puddles but I could see none. With their main dining room being full, they said we could sit in a tiny room against a wall with 2 other tables or the bar area. We sat for a few minutes in the bar and we were feeling very uncomfortable and were about to leave and drive the hour back home. All of a sudden someone came to the person who refused to let us sit outside and told her to setup 3 tables outside as they evidently needed them for people who arrived after us. It took just a minute to dry and setup up the tables and we then had a perfect evening outside in perfect weather. With Covid, I was shocked that wet tables would cause outside seating to be closed and guests forced to turn around and go home or risk their lives sitting inside. This restaurant plans to be open through October. Anyone with reservations should be concerned if the outside closes down for cold weather, a little wind or maybe dew on the tables. The above said, the food was exquisite. We did end up having a perfect meal. My wife and I shared 6 items and they were all delicious. We had the corn soup, tuna crudo, lobster tail, branzino and 2 desserts. The wine and service, once seated outside, was great

Daniel Bloud has taken over Blantyre dining during summer/fall 2020 during Covid limitatoins. Four for brunch. Our guests had been previously. We requested and were seated on the patio. Excellent and attention service from our waiter who had worked at Daniel in NYC. Most of the other staff from Cafe Boulud, alos in NYC. Two had corn veloute with lobster chunks. Rich and creamy. Two had duck patee on croute with beautiful salad of miniature fresh vegetables. Deliious and rich as expected. Three had Eggs Benedict... way beyond the usual in a regular restaurant, but prepared traditionally. Another wise salad. Amusee Bouche was Arancia (small ball) and delious bread. No cocktails or wine. Recommend for a special meal. I had had dinner at Blantyre about six years ago. Would return. $48 for two course brunch. $58 for three courses. None of us could manage dessert. One person had an omelent... odd with so many other choices. Excellent home fries for all. Suggested dress was upscale casual. I guess in the Berkshries that means "shoes and shirts". People in shorts, jeans, etc. I don't mind, but if you are not going to enforce a recommended dress, don't state it ... Would definitely go back.

A beautiful setting, top quality service, and the best food that you can find in the Berkshires. A unique evening of elegance, fine food, and one of the best wine cellars in the United States -- this is an experience not to be missed. A beautiful historic property nestled in the Berkshire Hills just outside of Lenox, MA. We can recommend the Cucumber & Avocado Vichyssoise with lobster (the Fresno chiles add just a hint of heat!), the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed melon is amazing -- a feast for the palate. For main course, the Branzino is excellent and the Ora King Salmon is heavenly. The portions for these fish main courses are generous. Blantyre has one of the best wine cellars in the United States and you can enjoy wines in wide range of price ranges. Should you be so inclined, they have some fabulous French wines going back to the 1920s! WE ARE HOPING THAT CAFE BOULUD BECOMES A PERMANENT FIXTURE AT BLANTYRE!
