I enjoyed a lovely dinner at this quaint and cozy Bistro . I ordered off of the menu for the day and had the soft shell crab over a nice size bed of lettuce with salad and it was the perfect pair . The mussels were delicious . My friends split one of their amazing pizzas and had one of the salads. The service was excellent and absolutely love the atmosphere of this very special gem .

This is an absolute hidden gem, that transports you to a small bistro in France. It is small, bustling, and romantic. They have a large wine selection, a fantastic cheese plate, and amazing escargot. It warms my heart to know that there are still restaurants in this city that bring fresh warm flakey bread to the table when you are seated. Portions and prices are reasonable. Cash or check only.

The special I ordered was seafood over rice ... it was dry and bland. All the seafood must have been prepared days before. Very disappointing. When I talked to the server about the dish she said no one yesterday complained ( well, it might have been fresh yesterday but not today!) She said that since the owner was not in the restaurant she could only remove my cocktail from the bill. We will not return.

We really wanted to like this place, but it just missed the mark on a few fronts. The pasta was soupy, the noodles were soft, vegetables a bit mushy. Prices were $3-5 more than the menu online. The duck was tasty, the tomatoes in the caprese were fresh, our server was friendly, but I can’t recommend this restaurant.

There is no steak house in the city which can do a filet a fraction as good as Cote Sud. Everything here is great, and I love the atmosphere. Every time I eat here I wonder why I don't come here more often as it's always delicious, and in my opinion, really under priced for what you receive. Edit: Came again (multiple times since this review), and it may be my favorite restaurant in this city. Amazing food every time, ridiculous wine list, and terrific service.

My husband and I attended a wedding in Pensacola, but flew in and out of NOLA so that we could see our daughter who attends Tulane. We thought that finding a restaurant in New Orleans on Sunday evening not too far from her off campus housing would be relatively easy, but it was not. After several failed attempts at reservations with restaurants we knew, I found Ciro's Cote Sud using a search engine. I read reviews, which were a bit out of date and some were great but others were not favorable. I figured what the heck. We mostly wanted to be with our daughter. Cote Sud was a GREAT surprise-- the food was amazing and the service was too. We started with the charcuterie board and cheese--yum, very good and not too much for the three of us. I had the veal medallions (I don't usually eat veal but made an exception; it was on the specials list and sounded really delicious). My husband had the pork roast and my daughter had the petite filet mignon. All three entrees were so delicious--cooked perfectly and with just the right amount of sauces. The vegetables were cooked perfectly as well. My dinner came with stuffed zucchini, which often has too much cheese and salt, with a soggy vegetable, but the zucchini itself at Cote Sud still had a bit of crunch, just a bit and the flavors were subtle and yummy. We bought a bottle of wine on the low end price-wise but it was very good, and our server was friendly and not intrusive. The restaurant is small and cozy. My husband remarked that if this restaurant were in our town we would be there every week. One note--there was pizza on the menu. That seemed very odd but a couple entered the restaurant, somewhat hesitantly and then decided to stay because there was pizza. I asked them how it was and they said very good. We enjoyed the French food. Two things in closing-- I ordered crème bruleé, I always do when it is on any menu and this crème was delicious, with the bruleé neither burned nor gritty with uncooked sugar, so that was a win as well. Prices were reasonable, but note that they are cash only. So, be sure to go to the ATM before you get there or be ready with your Venmo.

Hidden gem! We keep coming back. I've been 3 times now. The pizza is amazing. Every entree I have had so far is fantastic. You don't just get "high-fat cheese and pasta" here. It's French/Italian cuisine, but do not mistake this for Olive Garden. They really give this the gourmet touch. Plenty of seasonings, perfectly executed. Great prices for what they do. And no other restaurant in New Orleans has done this for me: When I enter Cote Sud, I feel like I am immediately transported back to Europe. I'm impressed.

Would NOT recommend (but I give three stars because we’re in a pandemic). My partner and I can here to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Most irritating of all: we called ahead to ask about seating practice, cautious of being safe. We were told, so I thought, that they only try to have three tables. Knowing the size of the place, this sounded ok to me. When we get there the place is packed: I don’t think they could have fit more people. They are horribly understaffed (or at least on this night). I ordered a martini close to when we arrived. I believe it took 30 minutes to come. And when it did it was on the rocks, which seems to be strange to be the default way to serve a martini. It took another 5-10 minutes for our server to come back around but then they quickly got me another drink. In general, it took a long time for anything to happen, and we weren’t the only ones experiencing this. Two couples who arrived after us seemed pretty annoyed. One, I believe, decided to leave before their main course arrived. For the other, I think they were seated for 15-20 minutes before they were given menus—they had to ask for them—and then later on I heard them ask twice where their food was. Our server seemed kind, but overwhelmed. The food itself was pretty good overall. I got the soup of the day and the Cornish game hen. The vegetables and mashed potatoes with the hen were excellent, the other things pretty solid.

The French onion soup was warm, not hot, with one little island of bread and cheese in the middle. The fries were over fried, and the nuts on the cheesecake were old. But it was less expensive than some other French restaurants, and it was nice and intimate in a small stablish mint. Please keep in mind that they only take cash and check.

We are not locals, and visit Nawlins only once a year. We were looking for a quaint charming French restaurant that was French rather than Cajun or southern. Cote Sud was perfect for us even with a 20 min uber ride from the French quarter. Mussel marinare was great with plump large mussels in a tasty broth. The broth was richer than we are used to, but was very good. The frites were perfectly fried sans sel, as requested. My lamb chops were tender and tasty. Ordered medium rare, it came closer to rare. I should have ordered medium rare plus as recommended by restaurant critics. The veggies were good as was the potato lyonnaise. But for me potato’s that way are way too rich for me. The profiteroles were excellent. There is only one sever in this small establishment, so patience is a must.

We returned to this little French gem for dinner, as we had loved the experience two years ago. The service was outstanding, the restaurant small and intimate. The food was excellent French cuisine, and the wine list excellent. Nothing had changed. My partner started with Escargot , which he said he said was 'the best ever'. For me, it was the crab cakes for starters, then duck with fruit and vegetables for main, but best of all was the superb creme brûlée , which we shared to finish off the meal. This tiny, French restaurant, is only a short journey by streetcar travelling along the magnificent St Charles Ave in New Orleans. If you get a chance, try it.

We went as a group of 8. We passed around each other's food, everything was amazing. The restaurant is casual and quaint, narrow and small. Only two servers who also buss the tables. So, if you're in a rush, go to a big box place and leave this small jewel to those who can relax and enjoy. They also have food to go, so if you don't want to wait, just order and pickup. The wine list is very inexpensive, so you can try various wines. I don't remember anything over $85 a bottle, with most under $65. All cash, so bring plenty with you. Note to Chef, an inexpensive buss boy dish washer could help you turn your limited tables and free up your wait staff to sell.

Everytime I am in New Orleans, even if I only have one night, I dine at this restaurant, it is that good. On this occasion, I started with a delightful French wine and their escargot, perfectly prepared and the most tender I have ever had. The next course was the goat cheese salad served like I had it in Bruges. The goat cheese is toasted on thin slivers of french bread and you put the slices in your salad and cut them all up and it gives you goat cheese croutons - delicious in a salad. Then I had the pasta with scallops, mussels, crawfish and shrimp in a white sauce. This dish is on the menu with a curry sauce but the chef kindly changed the sauce for me because I just cannot do curry. I had half of the pasta leftover and asked to have 6 shrimp added to it for a take-out and I took it back to the manager of the boutique hotel I was staying at who was not getting off work until 11:00 p.m. He was delighted and said it was the best pasta he ever ate. I usually have the profiteroles but this time I tried the chocolate mousse cake, it was very good but such a big piece, I could not finish it which is a shame because at this restaurant every bite is a wonder. And if that were not enough, this place is so reasonably priced, that is a wonder too.
