Ordered a custom vegan cake for my friends birthday while in town. They cake was not only perfectly decorated but it was delicious and huge! The details were absolutely perfect. It was a great surprise to the bday girl and the staff was super friendly to work with.

Dog friendly! Cool funky bakery in Bywater neighborhood of NOLA. We tried a breakfast cup of grits, bacon, egg and cheese. It was good. Even more interesting was the casual conversation with a local lady and her pup!

We stopped by Bywater Bakery close to close knowing we may not have the largest selection. There was plenty of cake and we decided to get the Chocolate Strawberry Chantilly and the Lemon Blueberry. The Chantilly was incredible and I would come back for it, but the buttercream cake tasted artificial and like it had been sitting out. We also loved the chocolate chip cookies and their quick serve pastry case. TLDR: Skip the buttercream and go for the Chantilly + any of their small case baked goods!

Was visiting Nola for a week and was extremely delighted to be staying a five minute’s stroll from this precious gem of an establishment. The vibes - friendly and welcoming, the pastries - delicious and unfussy, the coffee - some if the best I had in town. Definitely make this a regular spot if you’re in the area.

I had a birthday event client who ordered her cake from Bywater Bakery. When I picked up the cake I was impressed by the kindness and efficiency of the workers. At the event when the cake was revealed the group and I were all pleased with the beauty of the cake and design. Tasting the cake was heaven. The flavor was sublime and the texture smooth and moist. Absolutely delicious and so fresh. The atmosphere is fantastic. Loved the outside sesting options, too. Just know that there are lots of options available, like quiche, that aren't on the official menu...When you go, you will find something you want!

We asked Bywater to make our wedding cake, and I can’t stress enough how many people said it was the most delicious wedding cake they’d had, and they weren’t wrong. We opted for traditional flavors but went with a nut-less almond cake and it was out of this world delicious. We shared an airbnb with our wedding party and they couldn’t stop going back to the leftover cake for more! Not only was the cake amazing, but the team at Bywater were so easy to work with. From the tasting to the day-of delivery, we were in great hands!

They did our wedding cake and it was, by far, the most delicious and unique cake I've ever had. Julia and Chaya are amazing.

Cheerful little bakery in a red building with purple awnings & patio seating. The staff seemed very happy, which seems to be a rarity these days. Since it was the wrong time of year, I was unable to find a King cake and ordered the next best thing: Bywater Bakery's Lemon Chantilly cake. The cake was light, 'm'-word, and the perfect amount of sweetness. We also shared a very tasty, buttery, flaky croissant sandwich and a chocolate-chip cookie.

I luv this bakery. My mom passed a couple years ago, she brought me a chantilly cake every year for my birthday. I haven't had one in 5 yrs. since I've been living in Virginia. Hopefully I'll get back to get one soon. My birthday is in May...Wow😪

I've been to Bywater Bakery a few times, and it's always been wonderful. We bought a wedding cake from them for our wedding this month, and I can't recommend them enough. The cake was gorgeous, and absolutely delicious. Choosing the flavors was really fun, and they were super accommodating and easy to work with.

We were visiting from outta town and had a birthday during our trip. I called the bakery in the morning to reserve a berry chantilly cake. It was an AMAZING cake! One of the best bday cakes we’ve had in a while. So flavourful, fresh and light! Not gonna lie, I was eating it in bed the next day too. I’ll be dreaming of this one for a while. A little pricey, but it’s a big cake and it’s so worth it!

We are visiting from Connecticut this week and we’re celebrating a birthday. I stopped in the day of in hopes that they would have whole cakes for sale and we were not disappointed. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and the cake options were fantastic. We ended up with a Berry Chantilly Cake. It was the best cake that I have ever had. The entire group was so impressed with that cake. We will definitely be stopping in again before we leave!

Very cute inside and out. I got breakfast cup- grit,eggs, bacon, and cheese in a cup/bowl. It was good and I sat outside. They brought my food to me. It was a nice...cafe style place. Didn't try any of the cake, but I see plenty and all different types.

Bywater Bakery made an absolutely delicious cake for our wedding, lovely, soft and moist. The chantilly cream is to die for. The tasting was lots of fun, we got to mix and match cakes and icings. They also did a great job of accommodating our and our guests’ allergies and providing vegan and gluten free cupcakes so that none of our guests felt left out.

Sooo good! Visited from out of town and tried our first crawfish bread. Totally hooked!

I love BB as a nice little neighborhood spot to grab coffee and a treat. However, I'm disappointed with the walk-up window being self-service now. It was nice to be able to walk up with my excitable hound and wait for a coffee and snack to be brought out while she enjoyed pets from new people. Now I have to go inside, attempt to fix my coffee while hanging on the the leash of my excited dog who is trying to meet everyone, and feel self-conscious about being inside with her. So it's not really the perfect little take the dog out activity anymore. Boo. I did always tip appropriately for the service and I miss it : (

Went for a friend’s bachelorette and the staff were DELIGHTFUL! They even gave us a piece of cake. One of the highlights of the trip.

Breakfast gumbo and egg and grits are my ultimate Breakfast favorites in this special city.

Very cute spot, visited during free cake Friday which was awesome. The crawfish bread was insanely good and so was the croissant sandwich. Will definitely try to visit anytime I’m in town.

We were told this place was great, so we went there for breakfast. I got the breakfast Gumbo, which was a 4 on a scale of 1-10. Pretty disappointing.

Loved their king cakes! We got both a traditional and a chantilly one and they were both delicious!

Super delicious blueberry king cake. Be careful though, the one I bought spoiled after 2 days!! I reached out to Bywater Bakery to let them know that the cake I got went bad, especially because there is no labeling on the cake that indicates this. At first, they said their cakes don't need to be refrigerated and that I should check in with King Cake Hub. I explained to both of them that the cake went sour after 2 days even though it was kept cool and dry. They then switched to saying that the Hub gave me a refund, which they didn't. They also said they'd start telling customers to keep the cake cool. I felt like they didn't take my issue seriously at all. Customers know to keep cakes cool, that's obvious. Bywater Bakery needs to tell customers that if they don't intend to eat the cake within 2 days, then it should be refrigerated. I dont make much money and spent $45 on this cake. Really sucks that not only did it go to waste, but Bywater doesn't want to do anything useful about it.

Came here with a bachelorette party on Saturday and we were able to fit everyone at a table in the back. Staff was so sweet and accommodating. Self-order options and your food is brought to the table. Everyone enjoyed their food, particularly the boudin hash and berry chantilly. The wonderful band outside on a warm sunny Saturday afternoon was the cherry on top.

One of the best places I visited in New Orleans. More of a daytime place for lunch, cakes and coffee, and yakamein one day a week! Staff were amazingly helpful and service was happy and swift. Great coffee and cakes being a bakery, but I cam specifically for something else....yakamein. This yakamein is a local cajun take on ramen/noodles and had a rich broth with egg and meaty broth. It is a must try. That said, we had the veggie soup too snf that was off the chart also. The king cake they served two different ways normal and with blueberry. The latter was exceptional. I'd be a regular here if I lived in NOLA.

One of my go to spots when I’m in town. I’m from south Louisiana, and have been coming to bywater bakery since their inception, and it’s a bit sad to see how many tourists have discovered this lil tucked away gem. I know it’s probably great for their business so for that I can’t complain! Their breakfast croissant and the gumbo grits are two of my go-tos. I was also excited to see and try the passion fruit king cake ! Yummy as always.

They are adventurous with their pairings, but they know what they are doing and manage to pull together flavors to make them work. The artichoke chicken and spinach king cake was good for what it was., but the breakfast gumbo was heavenly with grits egg and a rich gumbo in one hearty filling breakfast

Bywater bakery hits the spot for satisfying your king cake cravings. By the cake or by the slice. Savory boudin or crawfish king cakes are incredible. No wait today on a cold monday.

I have been coming to this coffeeshop/bakery since I was a little girl. Great service ! The food and pastries are very high quality. You can tell they bake them fresh. King cake is amazing as well. If you are new to NOLA come try Bywater Bakery they have some pretty good kingcake and gumbo !

I ordered the Chantilly King Cake online. A Mascarpone Whipped cream and fresh berries inside a soft brioche king cake. Chose my pickup date and waited till it was time to pick up the cake. It was that easy. Bravo, Bywater Bakery, for crafting a king cake that transcends the ordinary. This sophisticated and light confection is a beautiful masterpiece, adorned with a stunning display of dyed granulated sugar. The flavor profile is a delightful symphony of sweet berries and cream, deviating from the typical Danish taste. This is not a breakfast pastry; rather, it embodies the essence of a classic dessert. A regal treat for the taste buds!

I bought a Chantilly king cake and a blueberry king cake. Both were the driest king cakes I have ever had in my 50 years .The blueberry was so dry it crumbled when I cut it .If had very little blueberry..These king cakes are cake based ,not typical pastry king cakes.Was very disappointing as I had heard good things about these king cakes . Considering that these two king cakes cost $79 and some change, I won't be buying another one.I purchased it on Monday morning at about 09:00.They must of been made several days earlier.

I love this place and all the food but man that Chantilly King Cake is sooo good.

Having been there twice and been treated so rudely I left, I was pleasantly surprised on my 3rd and last try. The staff was very hospitable and the savoury king cake was the hit of the season so far. Very positive change! Too bad they had to miss so many years of my patronage and I'm sure that of others who have to spend every day being treated rudely for a living and who would rather not pay huge prices to do so.

Any time that I actually have a chance to go anywhere out of Ohio for any reason, the one thing I do is go to every bakery that is in the area that I'm in. I love bakeries and actually plan on starting my own bakery business hopefully by this summer

Was in NOLA last year and tried three different highly rated King Cakes. The Bywater Bakery was by far the best one. Granted we didn't try the traditional but the marscapone and berry filled one. My rating 11 out of 10 !

Love this bakery! Always so many yummy options to choose from! Their praline pie is amazing! I grabbed a cinnamon roll to go for my husband and he enjoyed it. We also got a Chantilly cake and it was very well done. We will return!

I already loved Bywater Bakery from stopping by their window for treats a couple times. But we ended up choosing them to make our wedding cake, and could not be happier we did! We had a 3-tier cake with both chocolate and vanilla cake options, and fresh fruit in every layer. It was so delicious! We had multiple people rave to us about how yummy it was. They were super easy to schedule a tasting with and communicate with in the planning process.

Pastry, cakes, soups, sandwiches…You never know what new version they’ll add to the menu and it’s always good. It’s one of those cozy happy neighborhood spots where people are constantly saying hello and catching up! And any party I’ve brought their cake to, people’s eyes light up. Lemon Chantilly is my favorite.

Bywater Bakery made my wedding cupcakes. They were so amazing I still dream of them two years later. We had the prailine filling and we requested they be purple with gold glitter and they were able to make it happen. I highly recommend Bywater Bakery for your wedding, or special event, needs!

I ordered a cake for a birthday party. It was a simple phone call. I asked for some type of receipt or verification that I put a cake order in but they assured me it would be ready. I picked it up on a busy Saturday morning and everything was in order. The cake was delicious and I would definitely order again.

This place is great. I’ve had king cake for Mardi Gras which is my favorite in the city, especially the chantilly and crawfish. I also recently had the thanksgiving sandwich and the tuna melt which are both freaking delicious.

I asked my coworker for her favorite bakery and she replied quickly with the biggest smile, Bywater Bakery. It was her going away party and I ordered their amazing ‘Chocolate Strawberry Chantilly’. The Habitat for Humanity team loved the fresh chocolate dipped strawberries, the icing, the filling, and yes the cake. Ordering and paying online was easy and when I picked up, they offered to bring it to my car. They have excellent customer service and so many choices. Inside is very unique with tons of art and New Orleans memorabilia with history and displays of treats. And it smells amazing. Thank you so much!!

Great little spot. Busy but we were served quickly by friendly staff. Rosemary sweet roll was my favorite. Breakfast gumbo was served in a deep cup, would have been easier to eat in a shallow bowl.

Absolutely delicious. I had some sort of apple and almond pastry that was so good I wanted to slap someone. The prices were good, the coffee was good. If their cakes are as good as the rest of these baked goods I think this is gonna be the first of a lot of franchises. 100/100

I got a vegan chocolate cake for my friend’s birthday this week, and WOW! This was a 12/10. The cake was so moist and decadent. The price was very reasonable and the staff was great! I will be ordering my birthday cake from here too :)

In A Nutshell: -The Bywater Bakery is a hub in the Bywater neighborhood of NOLA. -Located on the the corner of Dauphine + Independence Streets, you'll easily spot this red painted neighborhood bakery. -I tried out their Bacon, Eggs, Grits + Cheese in a cup breakfast & it was perfect. -They have many other delish baked items that I saw such as Pecan Sandies, Apple Turnovers, Chocolate Croissants, Sweet Potato Sticky Buns, Oatmeal Cookies, Blueberry Coconut Scones + Butterscotch Pecan Scones. -Unfortunately, I didn't try the baked goods, but that shouldn't stop you from trying them out. -They also are famous for their King Cakes, which I saw many people order & pick up while I was enjoying my breakfast. -Everytime someone was handed a cake, they would say, "Happy Birthday". Overall, this is a mom & pop owned store where everyone can feel welcome!
