Tacos- off the hook, really good mix of authentic flavors with the local ingredients of one of the best agricultural regions of the US. Beer- good local northern VT selection in cans, nice and cold. Owner- super cool, really enjoyed talking with him...And there are a throwing axes. These aren't the cheap ones that bounce back at you or don't even look like an axe, and it's not some dumb thing at a carnival where the game is rigged...owner is willing to give tips on technique. One of the best nights of my life.

We are so happy we chose Caja Madera to cater our welcome dinner! It was so easy to work with Bryan in the months leading up to our wedding, and the team did such a great job making sure our 85 guests were full and happy. And, of course, the tacos were phenomenal! If you are aiming for a fun and relaxed atmosphere and delicious food, I highly recommend Caja Madera.

We went there for their new axe throwing facility. It was awesome! We had a great time, had some awesome tacos and nachos! We will definitely be back soon!

Caja Madera catered for our wedding welcome party and did not disappoint! The tacos were amazing and pretty unique! One of our guests said the tacos were the best they've ever had. The price was very reasonable, and the service was great! We would recommend them to anyone!

Really good- cool place and interior- just a bit expensive for some incredibly small tacos. The combos were great though, but four tacos later at $16 and I was not full at all. Def good food though and I would go again beyond that.

Caja Madera catered our wedding and the food and experience was everything we hoped for and more. Bryan and Gabby were a pleasure to work with-- friendly, great communication, and worked with us to provide an amazing buffet for our 125 guests. The tacos, salad, rice and beans, and salsa were incredible, and everyone was served quickly. Our guests continue to tell us how good the food was, and we agree! We'll be coming to Hardwick as often as we can for more Caja Madera!

A nice little place. Had the hatch pork taco and a chicken quesadilla. Quesadilla was excellent especially with the ample salsa and crema. Taco was also good but had some structural issues (there's a reason to use two corn tortillas). Also, there were a bunch of flies inside, which was unfortunate.

Best tacos ever. Perfect! Delicious without sauce, but bring your own bottle of El Yucateco if you want some heat.

We had Caja Madera do the food for our wedding and it was the best decision we made! The tacos were unbelievable, the street corn was out of this world, the salads and salsas were all fantastic. Bryan and his team did an amazing job not just preparing the food but setting up a beautiful buffet and making sure everyone got their food quickly. We had a 200 person wedding and they were able to get everyone fed way faster than I ever imagined. We received so many compliments from guests on how amazing the food was, and had a ton of guests go up for seconds and thirds after everyone was fed. Thank you Caja Madera for making our wedding amazing!

Food is good but cashier has bad service. No smiles and very demanding. She said you want your change! Don’t you just give us our change and we tip after. But food and cooks were good.

Brian and Sammy catered our wedding event this past weekend. Their food was amazing and their friendly and kind personalities were so genuine. It was a honor to have them as part of our day. Place had great food, but if you're looking for an affordable place to eat. This is not it. Also, the menu is pretty hard to read and the portions are very small. I spent $40 for two and was still hungry afterward. Chipotle is a vastly superior deal, but again since you're in bum nowhere I guess this business has free range to rob you blind. Great upper class white person Mexican, def not authentic. If you're a trust fund tourist with daddy's money and not a local - this place is for you.

Food was good but a bit Anglicized for this Latino. Service was sullen and questions about items were dismissed. Very much a take it or leave it attitude. A simple greeting and a bit of attentiveness would have gone a long way.

I love the pineapple salsa that comes with one of their offerings. Nice staff, cheerful community atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating, limited indoor seating but comfortable. I hope to try everything on the menu eventually -- haven't been disappointed yet. Note that while it's Caje Madera on Yelp and Google, you may only see a big sign for La Taqueria or Tacos in big letters -- same place, right by Dona's Car Store and across from Aubuchon Hardware.

After moving to VT from a place where we had awesome Mexican food on seemingly every corner I’ve beef missing good Mexican food. Found this place while riding the neighboring bike trail and have to say that it’s, by far, the best Mexican food that I’ve had in Vermont, and would stand out even in areas with actual competition. Great food, friendly service. I’ll definitely be back.

Moved to VT after spending the summer in Central America. Have been looking for tacos that could compare ever since and haven’t found it in this area, until now. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu. Seems like you can’t go wrong.

They've got the best tacos around. A fun atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating options. A little piece of the southwest right here in Hardwick. Truly brilliant. A weekly staple for my boyfriend and I.

Caja Madera finally opened their brick and mortar after years of anticipation! The food is incredible as always. Cannot recommend the Pozole enough! The inside of the new restaurant is cozy and warm. The staff is 10/10. I will be eating here once a week forever.

This place has amazing tacos! Every time we are in the area we make sure to come by, normally multiple times. Reminds me of SoCal tacos, but lacks people calling me Bro (which is an added bonus). It’s worth the drive!!
